Here are both my pieces for the @bdubszine !!!!! Such a great opportunity to run with it and just have fun with detail work.

I am in love with sungod bdubs and very proud of this piece with the improv class^^

Down below is some in depth talk for the first piece with bdubs and all his clocks :D

The one on his chest is a regular minecraft clock - he always carries one in his offhand. In the background his his big tower from his "building with bdubs" series. He is wearing his moss cloak. On his wirst: A clock with a horse: he loves horses. also it actually is inspired by the horse-mountain he build in season 9 of hermitcraft A purple clock with ears: a purple panda clock. He joined one mcc (minecraft championship) and one it first try on the team called purple pandas) A tnt block-clock: Season 7 of hermitcraft he had, alongside impulse and tango, a company called "the boomers" who would explode stuff with tnt for diamonds - bdubs stick was he would die in every blow up they do (there are compilations)

in his jacket: The clock looking like a ring: reference to double life. He was soul-bonded to impulse and they lowkey roleplayed as a married couple and impulse gifted him a clock as a sign or marriage. therefore it looks like a ring. it also has "i" pointers because impulse always puts "i"s on his stuff A regular alarm clock: Basically that - maybe a reference for him always sleeping through the night. The red glasses clock: reference to season 8. He, tango and keralis based together and called themself "big eyes crew" and they all wore red glasses Emerald shaped clock: season 9 as the right hand to king rendog (theres also a crown inside the shape) emeralds because rendog and bdubs wanted to change currency to royal emeralds which started a war on the server and led to rendogs execution. bdubs stayed loyal till the end "hep" clock: Season 7. He plays right hand man to mayor scar. There was a turfwar between two groups - one wanted their main island to be mycelium the other wanted it to be grass. HEP was the group who wanted grassblocks so its a grassblocked shaped clock. they lost the war clock with a snake: 3rd life reference. Inside the clock theres a castle "the crastle" which was his and cleos base in 3rd life. The snake stands for cleo. the heart is part of the logo for the traffic series (same btw count for the heart in the impulse ring) sundial: reference to the hermitcraftxempires smp crossover. bdubs came to empires smp and announced himself as "the sungod" and basically became a god and gem, oli, fwhip and sausage were his followers for the short time. the shape is after a build sausage made in his name the "B" sign: reference to last life. He was part of team B.E.S.T. and they had shields with their initials aka Bdubs, Etho, Skizzlman and Tango. The four hearts are the lifes he was given at the start of the series half tnt clock: reference to ethoslab who is his best friend on hermitcraft and they are just unnormal about each other messed up steam punk clock: reference to the create series he did with keralis, tango, scar and zedaph who unfortunatly was short lived mcc coin: the coin he got for winning mcc broken heart monitor clock: limited life. there's a heart monitor and digital clock. the clock is broken because bdubs didnt uploaded his view for limited life (at the time of drawing this piece) so we never new how much time he had left (we know now) small pocket watch with snake and wings: also limited life. he teamed up with scar (the wings) and cleo (the snake) tree clock: the tree of whimsey. one of his first builds of season 9. he crowned tango as parkour king, cub as royal magican/dragonslayer and ren as king under it

“I guess I don’t have a choice then,” Scar frowned, risking a glance back. He was expecting the ghosts to be there, but not directly behind him, hanging over his head. Scar couldn’t stifle his own startled gasp, turning stiffly back around. Hopefully no one saw that. Based on the way everyone was staring, they absolutely did. Oh boy.

“Alright!” Sausage clapped, drawing the room’s attention back to him, “If you haven’t already guessed Scar, this is about your.. hm.. Let’s say your attitude when the topic of the paranormal surfaces. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we- especially after recent events- are concerned. Don’t you think that’s fair?”

Yeesh. This was going to be a shit show. “Okay, yeah, I understand where you guys are coming from. I know weird stuff happens around me a lot, and I know everyone likes to joke around, but you’re looking too deep into things. That’s all.”

“Well, we don’t feel that way.”

“Blunt.”

“You need to hear it, Scar, so take this seriously. And we want to help you if we can, so just give this a chance. I’m going to start, and we can all go in a circle and share times where we feel that your, or our lives have been endangered. I’ll go first! I will not lie, I did not appreciate you pulling your sword on me when I tried to take the ouija board away. Clearly, at least to me, whatever happened with the screaming event was connected, and I’m honestly quite concerned you want to keep something that dangerous around.”

“Alright, that wasn’t my best moment, and I am sorry, but I don’t think you have any right to touch my stuff.” Scar was ready to start tearing out his hair. Grian seemed awfully bold today, floating forward to laugh in his face. Pearl joined him, flicking her fingers in Scar’s face to try and get him to flinch. His frown only deepened.

“Me next?” Kyle pointed to himself, and began on Sausage’s nod, “Well, the big thing is the first ouija board incident. That was crazy. Those scratches weren’t deep, but I think they’re going to scar. But it isn’t even just that- it’s also how freaked out you were about it, before and after. You knew! And I don’t blame you for the fact that it happened, you warned me and I didn’t listen, but if you really don’t believe in anything paranormal, what’s with the edginess?”

Scar opened his mouth to respond, but was distracted by Impulse floating across the circle, using some unknown momentum to do little flips in the air. Scar closed his eyes. “No comment.”

“Okay, well my turn!” Oli started, puffing out his chest, “Now I know you tell me whenever you see me to mind the noise, or don’t think too hard about, or whatever, but gosh Scar, you are so loud in that room of yours! And I get it, everyone talks to themself from time to time, so I wouldn’t have said anything if I hadn’t heard who you were talking to! I mean, you even call them by names! The night you had your, for lack of a better word, seizure, you were talking to a Grian! And then there was another night where you were talking to someone else!

How would the ROs react if in the deep crushing stage that they wake up a sleeping mc but the mc is half a sleep and think they are dreaming(dreaming about ro) so they kiss the ro but mc finally wake up after a few seconds mumbles a sorry and dash out of the room.

Hannie would just kind of stand there (in the position they were in when you kissed them-- for example I'm picturing kind of like half leaning over the bed) for a moment in shock. They would then realize that holy shit, they're about to go, we need to talk about this-- who were they thinking about? They should at least tell you no hard feelings, right? But that would just make them stand there for another moment as they collect their thoughts, and then they'll go to find you but you probably won't be there anymore and they'd mentally hit themselves.

Oli would just go bright red and they'd be completely incoherent. They wouldn't be as frozen as Hannie, and they would run after you, but when they go to you they would just turn even more red and forget how to speak. They'd mumble a sorry and run out of the room themself. Sorry for what, they don't know, and they never will get over it iusufdhsui

N would smile their silly little smile and stop you before you could run away. First, they would affirm that it's okay, you were sleepy and you didn't know, no need to be embarrased, it's cool. And then they would probably give you a little kiss on the cheek. When they pull back, you'll see a mischevious smile, and they'll say good morning as they go make you some breakfast.

id love to hear abt your latest session! my party and i are currently divvying loot after fighting a dragon :3c

athelina i owe you my fucking life. this is gonna be so long. and very complicated but i will try and omit what i can

last night we started with the party split in three different directions, and not of our own accord- our tabaxi cleric (wonder of the world) and our dwarf artificer (drorra) split in one group with some npc allies including drorra's wife (carrion), our warforged rogue (knife) by themself, and me (elf paladin, connor) with a dragon paladin npc (tepullanir).

how we GOT there is a bit of a long story- essentially a crusty old wizard named cabraxis who allied with the quori (creatures from the realm of dreams- and of the dreaming dark specifically, or nightmares) has taken a very sinister shine to our cleric and was trying to get us to help him reunite with his partner. but we figured he was Nasty and refused so he sent wonder and drorra in the middle of Cult Country and i managed to evacuate us with a wish, which tldr put us in the only thing keeping the archfiend manifestation of hatred, violence and war from tearing his way into the prime material plane and making the entirety of the world of eberron a war zone

now we want exactly none of those things, as you can imagine, so we are none too happy with cabraxis but incapable of contacting each other, so wonder and drorra are running around trying to find freedom, knife is picking their way through essentially a warforged scrap shop, and tepu and connor are trying to creep their way through the seal without being spotted or dying. drorra and wonder ended up directly fighting cabraxis, reversing time to save carrion who he disintegrated and teleporting the hell out, knife ended up killing one of the creators of warforged herself and then meeting a god they helped create. their shit was absolutely insane but for simplicity's sake since this is ALREADY SO LONG i am going to talk about what happened to ME

visual aid, connor is on the left with the glasses and tepu's on the right, they are NOT YET KISSING BUT I KNOW IN MY HEART IT WON'T BE LONG

connor awoke in the seal to find tepu in draconic form with her wings cut off, and after administering some healing found out she had been feebleminded by A Certain Catboy We Hate (VERY LONG STORY) and had to help 1. convince her connor was not a threat 2. heal her enough to keep walking, which she did, at which point the dm threw a path to follow at me in the shape of connor's mother's bloody footsteps.

connor's mother, valleth, is directly aligned with the archfiends and pursuing a dagger i am desperately trying to keep out of her hands.

we pick our way through the shield for a while and run into another dragon npc named oli that connor despises and tepu has really bad history with but is a high-level wizard, so connor decides to play him like a fiddle and rolls nothing under a 28 on persuasion/deception to get him to help us! she tells him some egregious lies, he believes her and removes the feeblemind from tepu and we part ways and continue onward

after following the tracks for some time they split off into a branching path and we follow one, which leads connor on her own to a younger version of herself that does not recognize her- connor was born into a house of spies but she was shit at it, never gaining the approval of her very bitter mother, and this version of her is trying to by passing a test given to her that directly confronts her worst fear: heights! connor turns her around and tells her she doesn't need to try that path. if it sucks she can just walk away, and leads her by the hand back out to tepu.

which is about when we get confronted by a massive writhing Creature consuming everything and oli frantically getting our attention so we can all RUN, which we do, because what else are we gonna do. connor and connorcita which is what i'm calling her now for the sake of trying to simplify things track her mother down a manhole, leaving tepu and oli to try and fight this thing off

when connor^2 finds valleth she is in the process of opening a portal up with the dagger we DON'T want her to have so the connor the elder and valleth start duking it out- which goes much worse than expected for valleth so connor's like

and crits, taking her nearly all the way the fuck down, at which point the archfiend of war and rage starts trying to tear his way through the portal

so connor corners her mother with the dagger like hey how do we stop this, fucker, and valleth reveals the only instruction she knows is to spill heart's blood on an altar at the end of the room. at this point the ceiling partially caves in and the dragons are back, fighting the vore critter, and connor now has a very desperate choice to make on who to kill:

her mother, who connor has a long and bad history with and would love nothing more than to kill, but connor's a redemption paladin. and the personification of killing someone you hate is clawing his way into the chamber.

her younger self, who is scared and upset and level 1

oli, who she REALLY needs alive right now because of a deal she made with a god

tepu, who has already been sacrificed to this cause and who connor was able to save and really really really does not want to get hurt again

herself, who has not wanted to die for nearly 8 years and is fighting to live.

so, you know. no big deal!

time freezes around her as i the player start throwing alternatives out to the rest of the table, and then the archfiend starts talking to her and trying to make her doubt herself and hesitate at the last second. he unfreezes connorcita who looks up at her with something like fear, or revulsion, and connor says "oh honey, i am you."

and then, after coming to understanding, and connorcita telling her that she is the only time she's felt safe, she knows what she needs to do. there's only one option; she needs to stop being afraid of what would be justice for anyone else being done for her. she needs to do what's right by her younger self, and her older self. there's always been a right path. the oath of redemption is not letting yourself be a punching bag.

the two of them take the dagger and drag connor's mom to the altar. connor, as she holds the knife, tells valleth she's sorry for whatever drove her to the archfiends. and then the two connors- one older, one still a child- drive the dagger into her heart

and with a bullshit percentile dice roll

seal the archfiend back into the portal and avert an apocalypse. the horrible devourer creature shrank up into a tiny ball.

she's back out of the seal now with two dragons and massive platinum wings sprouted from her back.

Till, yes, without even a moment of hesitation. They'd be off the ground before he even realised he was doing it.

Schneider, depends on the kind of day he was having as baby schneider was also an angry little bastard

Richard I think would walk past, feel bad, and go back to help. He strikes me as someone who often has to let his initial uncharitable or otherwise negative instincts, thoughts and feelings pass and then go off what he logically knows is actually morally good and right. Some people have to actively learn to be good people, you know? I don't mean that he wouldnt care or isn't a nice and loving person, just that his whole individualism thing could lead to his first thought being that they should help themself and not rely on other people to be there. I'm talking about pre therapy baby Richard here specifically, modern Richard would rush over and (awkwardly, inevitably) do whatever he could.

Flake, who knows. He's lovely (to the point that now as a proper adult he will drive Richard crazy by letting other people in front of them when he's driving) but he's also very Such Is Life in attitude and didn't seen to think Paul not helping was weird. Then again, that may have just been because he knew Paul well enough by then. Flake has very complicated and layered internal logic.

Oli... Oli was very shy, I feel like he'd wait to see how hurt they were first and only help if they really needed it.

i sent this to the discord server but realized i never put it here sooo OLI'S FERAL ANTONIO HEADCANON LETS GOOOO warning for some self-harm (not in depth) and violence mention :>

ok so i was thinking about what i said before with them being relatively calm when outside of matches. but i was also like... i think it depends on exactly who it is they’re with, or if they’re alone. when alone, they grow restless and angry, since they feel the need to perform or portray themself as being very talented and perfect, so when it's just them, they become super critical of themself, finding flaws and imperfections in really minor things

they probably have moments where they have to be stopped from tearing at their limbs or hair if they get in the way/they’re not moving fast enough, all that good stuff. very specifically they can be caught hitting their head against things (hints at the skin sewn together along the bridge of their nose, probably wounded themself from constant blunt force trauma, and would just end up keep reopening the old wound)

and then cut to like. being with other people. this one is very dependent on who they’re with. we already know with luchino they’re more relaxed, definitely calmer and more like how they’d been in his past. they’d be the same with a few other hunters, such as leo or robbie i'd think. (specifically robbie i like to think of him really liking antonio's music, and having been a child he's not very critical or aware of any mistakes that antonio might make, therefore more compliments and admiration happen). so the hunters that most likely still have some amount of humanity, or ones that are simply more laid-back are the ones they’d be the most calm with uvu

the reason i started thinking of this was because of peyton giving me jack so like. antonio's very impressionable and very easily persuaded by the mood and personality of the people around them. with hunters who are more monstrous/evil or strive for perfection themselves, they becomes very performative, always wishing to impress, going as far as to be borderline clingy. they’re also sorta like when they’re alone, where they become critical of themself and feel the need to perform, yet there's less anger behind it more just. purely fueled by the need for an audience, people to applaud them or want them. which leads them to willingly do cruel things while they’re more conscious outside of matches. they have the need to impress.

with survivors its the same way, depending on how they react to them or interact with them, antonio will react accordingly. by default they seem very tired and worn, but not really fueled by malice or hate to attack anyone. and often times if they encounter a survivor, they’ll ask them if they would like to hear their music, or be their audience. that of course can go horribly if they assume antonio’s going to hurt them when in reality they would literally play for them, wanting these fresh ears to admire and adore them! if the survivor reacts badly (insults them, says they don't care about their music, all that), they become violent, and it's best that survivor gets as far from them as they can because they would absolutely try to attack them, screaming about how they are undeserving, how they offered them to hear something so few were blessed enough to experience only for them to spit on it. those survivors are often targeted out during matches with antonio :') with survivors who would stick around and actually agree to their performance, it becomes similar to when they’re with hunters who are laidback, where they are calmer, and would treat the survivor kindly, thanking them for listening and asking them if they enjoyed it. if they were shitty about it, return to the 'gets attacked and singled out'. if they actually applauded or said they enjoyed it, then antonio becomes a bit more sparing during matches. they’re still not fully present, but if they’re fighting against that survivor and downs them (especially if they're the final one), they will stay by them and offer they guide them to the dungeon so that they can escape. if they down the survivor early on in a match and chairs them, they’ll apologize, hoping they would still enjoy their music. BUT. after that survivor is eliminated, their control over themself is completely erased, and they can be even more violent towards the remaining survivors. because that old antonio, wherever they are trapped within them, is just. broken, confused by the fact they’re hurting people that are their audience, who enjoyed what they did. and their puppeteer doesn't want them fighting back. so they’re completely shut out their actions are based completely on their 'audience,' being whoever they’re around at any point. and it's only with those that just. don't care for how they present themself, or remind them of their love for their music, that you can kinda see that old antonio, the one who's first passion was their violin, not the hurt and torture they’re forced to cause

oh look it’s the flipside of what saga wrote that i wrote at work today for an anon send without realizing saga had sent me one themself. please note: my R key is broken. i try to catch it, but it’s likely not going to get caught for every word.

matt & emily, a character exploration of headcanons, as pertains to saga’s matt.

i was writing a reply to saga recently, and the phase “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes” came up. which i only realized after has been used before, by emily, in reference to her own personal history in a fourteenth season episode. so. for the most basic of explanations, this is true for matt and emily, at least in the way that she views him. it’s important to note that emily not only sees him as someone who reminds her of herself, and who she admires and values, but she also very much views him as a role model. matt has a family, and a happy one at that. not only is it something she took heavily into consideration when hiring him, but she also envies it. it’s something that, in canon, she has not achieved for herself, and something that in my canon here (until bea’s adoption) she does not achieve for herself either. his happiness and family life is something she wants but quite honestly has not thought possible for herself.

emily deeply respects, trusts, and sees matt as a competent worker and colleague. he is the oly person outside the bau she entrusted with information about mr. scratch. this trust was built in part through emily knowing clara closely, but it was VERY much built on the work that matt did to get eid out of prison. when she was looking to fill a new spot, his name was at the top of the list, but the IRT was still in operation at the time. she knew if a spot opened again, he was very much on the shortlist - and when it did open, after the work he did in saving her, he was the list.

something important: for many reasons, mily makes certain to mention matt first when inviting or talking to the group for his first year of employment. intrinsic to understanding emily’s way of behaving as a unit chief is knowing that she came in as a replacement for elle, originally. she spent that first year trying to prove herself as one of the team. emily doesn’t want him to question whether he belongs there, especially because his appointment to the bau followed a vey sudden and violent death.

something saga and i have talked about a lot: that scene in wheels up where matt finds her first. he does not let go of her until spencer is touching her. though he’s not as familiar with him as she is with the rest of the bau, emily clearly trusts him. also: in the recent matt and luke episode, emily repeats that behavior with luke. she holds onto him until someone else (rossi, in this case) grabs him.

she knows that matt is cut from the same cloth as her in a lot of ways, but to bring up several instances: he has often gone without backup ( emily going into the home after she quit the bau, without backup, in front of strauss versus matt jumping into the lake ), and he’d rather put himself in danger than ask his teammates ( matt bringing up the mole among the gang, lying and potentially putting himself in harms way instead of luke, versus emily in the compound/minimal loss, saying that she was the spy to take a beating in place of reid. thanks to saga and alexys for that comparison.)

look. she sees the similarities. and more than that, she brought him onto this team. that’s a connection she doesn’t have with any (living) member of the bau.

other headcanon specific things worth mentioning: she and matt absolutely have sexuality talks and they also compare notes on places they’ve been around the world, as they’re both pretty well traveled.

Everything was fine, fun even, until Oli started talking. Mumbo had settled behind Scar, content to watch everyone else distracting and making fun of him. It was surreal after all, for the Kestrels to be holding an event like this. To try and get Scar to admit his ghosts were real. They had no idea. Well, everyone but Oli at least. Apparently, Oli had quite a detailed idea.

“Now I know you tell me whenever you see me to mind the noise, or don’t think too hard about, or whatever, but gosh Scar, you are so loud in that room of yours! And I get it, everyone talks to themself from time to time, so I wouldn’t have said anything if I hadn’t heard who you were talking to! I mean, you even call them by names! The night you had your, for lack of a better word, seizure, you were talking to a Grian! And then there was another night where you were talking to someone else! I heard his voice!”

“Oli,” Scar spoke through gritted teeth, words almost like a growl, “Oli, shut up.” Mumbo tensed, backing away. Grian stopped what he was doing immediately, straightening up in alarm. Impulse raised his head in a confused gesture, but Pearl didn’t seem to notice.

“I thought you just had another pirate over for the night, you know, but I didn’t recognize his-”

Pearl sat up immediately, noticing Mumbo’s and Grian’s mortified looks for the first time, “Another.. What’s he talking about? Grian?”

Scar leapt from his chair, passing directly through Pearl to grab Oli by the wrist, “I told you to-” Pearl yelped in surprise, floating up to avoid the fray. But no one answered her.

“Guys? Who else was talking with Scar?” she asked again, her tone gaining a sharper edge, “Was this with the ouija board?” Pearl’s gaze turned to Mumbo. He nearly tripped over himself trying to avoid her eyes. “Mumbo? Why didn’t you say anything?” A look of hurt flashed across her face, and Mumbo heard Scar gasp as Martyn pulled him off Oli.

Grian floated between them, trying to block Pearl’s view from Mumbo, “He told me. Don’t get angry, it’s more complicated than I can explain quickly right now. Impulse doesn’t know either.”

“Well- okay-” Pearl looked very much like she was struggling with this idea, “But if Mumbo used the ouija board with Scar.. I.. What did Oli mean by ‘had someone over for the night,’ did something happen? Mumbo, did you get a chance to attack or fight or- I don’t understand.”

“Well he did almost kill Scar!”

“No! Nothing happened!” Grian and Mumbo spoke at the same time, giving each other startled looks.

“Guys!” Pearl’s voice raised an octave, looking between them rapidly.

“Pearl, it’s okay, just give them a chance,” Impulse drifted behind her, putting a hand on her shoulder. But it was clear he was also quite confused.

“I think I’m just going to excuse myself here,” Mumbo waved a hand and turned away.

“Okay, so, you guys know dementors right? From Harry Potter? Like how when they kiss you, you d-” Grian tried his best, but he did not get to finish.

“WHAT?” At the same time Pearl yelled, Scar cried out in pain, clutching his stomach. He started to say something else, but none of the ghosts were listening. The cracks in Mumbo’s own form were starting to splinter. “Mumbo! I’m going to need an explanation please!”

“He didn’t intend to kiss Scar-”

“Grian! Stop trying to protect him.”

“Well stop attacking! I told you it was complicated!”

“Pearl, you need to calm down. We are going to figure this out,” Impulse strode past her, standing beside Grian, but she pushed through both of them, making a beeline straight for Mumbo.

“I want to hear it from you,” she said, voice terrifyingly even. There was no escape. Backed into a corner, his fear shifted into hot anger.

“ Fine,” Mumbo spat, “I got Scar to use the ouija board with me. I had questions. I still have them. It didn’t work the way we expected it to, and we kissed. Is that what you wanted to hear?”

“Mumbo- that's not-” Grian tried to cut in, but neither of them were listening now.

“Why? ” Pearl hissed, eyes wide and shocked.

“I don’t know! Maybe I just wanted to! Sit on that! You’re so obsessed with hurting him, you haven’t even considered that not all of us care! I’m not interested in sitting around and being miserable, just to try and make Scar feel the same way.”

“What do you mean you don’t care? Scar murdered us with a goddamn smile on his face! He’s still hurting us. Since when do you care more about Scar’s wellbeing than ours?”

“I didn’t say that! I don’t care about him any more than you do. Maybe I just want to know why he did what he did- Grian cares about that too! Is that a crime? And you know what, maybe I’m just trying to find out. Or maybe I’m just being selfish! God fucking forbid I do something for myself.”

“Grian didn’t kiss Scar. Grian is still fighting him, just like the rest of us! Have you already forgotten what Scar did to him just a couple days ago?”

“Guys, please don’t-” Grian tried to get between them, followed closely by Impulse. But the words were already on Mumbo’s tongue.

“Well, maybe , Grian provoked Scar first.” The regret hit Mumbo instantly, making him stumble back. Grian’s eyes burned through his, shocked and hurt, but before he could open his mouth to apologize, Pearl was on him.

“How dare you ,” she snarled, closing the distance, “No wonder you abandoned ship to see Scar when Grian needed us. All of us. ‘Finding out what happened’ right? What, was that just a prime opportunity to make out with Scar while we were all distracted?”

“That is not what happened-”

“I don’t believe you!”

“Pearl! Mumbo! Stop it. Both of you. Look what’s happening to your bodies- we don’t want a repeat of this,” Impulse shoved himself between them, pushing them apart with his hands. The sudden separation shocked Mumbo into listening. He looked at his hands. It wasn’t just the cracks splintering apart his form; the lines that separated his body from the air shifted too. He looked up to see Pearl, whose own body was fluctuating and unstable. She met his eyes.

“Get out of here.”

Mumbo didn’t have to be told twice. He couldn’t bring himself to look at Grian, so he looked at the rest of the dining hall as he left. It was empty. Mumbo closed his eyes. Well, there was one person who could tell him what he missed. At this point, he had nothing left to lose.

On his way to Scar’s room, he ran into the Kestrels in the tavern. Well, the Kestrels and Scott. Based on the way they were speaking in whispers, he had a feeling Scar was upstairs. He lingered just long enough to hear them speaking about ghosts, and more specifically, how to get rid of them. Mumbo wasn’t keen to stick around.

Scar wasn’t doing well. Mumbo heard his strangled whines from outside, which Scar was usually relatively good at hiding. Inside, he was laying face down on top of his sheets with his shirt off, retching into his pillow. Christ. Surely even Pearl wouldn’t take joy in watching this.

Scar never looked up, so Mumbo went to him, waving a hand gently in front of his face. It took a couple seconds for Scar to even notice. Scar’s face was red and splotchy, slick with sweat, as was the rest of his body.

“Come on,” Mumbo said, knowing full well Scar wouldn’t hear him, but he got the message loud and clear when Mumbo pointed across the room. With uncoordinated limbs, Scar pulled himself out of bed and to the floor, where the ouija board still lay. Mumbo sat across from him. They didn’t speak as Mumbo laid his hands across Scar’s, the only sound being Scar’s shaky sigh of relief. Mumbo let Scar’s warmth wash over him.

“You know, Impulse doesn’t usually get this upset. Never had it that bad before,” Scar drew a hand to his throat before quickly putting it back on the planchette, “Well, besides that, would you believe me if I told you it wasn’t that bad?”

“No. Absolutely not.”

Scar laughed, falling forward into Mumbo’s shoulder. His brain short circuited a bit, but he decided not to think too hard about it. The warmth was all that mattered.

“You’re fuckin bony. Did you know that?”

“You’re sweaty and gross. Did you know that?”

“Don’t be mean.”

Mumbo laughed, not that Scar heard, but he would feel the soft bounce of his shoulders. It was all too nice. A wave of bitterness coursed through him, that Scar would never have allowed himself something like this when the crew of The Flying Jellie lived. They could have had this. No complications. Mumbo squeezed Scar’s hand to get his attention.

“Mmm?” Apparently, that counted as a question.

“I need something from you, if you’re not too tired.”

“Right now, I’d do anything you ask. Whatcha need?”

“A distraction. A kiss. Anything to forget about today for a while.”

“Why, Mumbo Jumbo, I would be delighted to indulge you,” Scar smiled into his shoulder, moving ever so slightly to his neck. Mumbo tilted his head, closing his eyes. It felt so good to breathe. For it to hurt when Scar nipped at his skin, then kiss it all better. To not think for a while.

Scar moved a hand to the back of Mumbo’s head, brushing his hair with delicate fingers. It was so amusing for Scar, being who he was, to be so gentle. Mumbo ran a curious hand down Scar’s chest, absently considering his many scars and curves. He wondered about his own marks scattered along Scar’s back, moving to trace the rougher patches of skin with grim satisfaction.

“You really made a mess of me back there,” Scar mumbled, turning his gaze to Mumbo’s lips.

“Good.” Scar didn’t hear him, but he understood, responding with a grin. God, Mumbo hated that smile. He grabbed at the side of Scar’s face, pulling him up into a kiss. A rush of anger fueled his passion, a messy impulse to never see that grin again. He clawed at Scar’s cheek and grabbed at his hair; anything he could think that might wipe it away, but the telling curve of Scar’s lips never faded. Honestly, it was starting to make him more difficult to kiss.

“Didn’t take you as the aggressive type! Bad day?” Scar snickered on Mumbo’s lips as he took a moment to breathe.

“Shut up.”

“What did I do to piss you off so bad-” Scar yelped as Mumbo tugged on his hair, catching himself with an arm. Mumbo took the opportunity to push him back further, climbing on top.

“You’re going to have to move the board, Scar.”

“Gladly.”

I was a pretty weird child actually. I ate play doh. But I was wild. I was always the tough kid. Not really. I talked tough though. And I never had attraction to girls growing up. I always knew I was gay. My mom was super supportive of that. She said she still loved me, which definitely helped make me to supportive and loving person I am. I don’t think I could have done anything without my mom.

My mom and I went out to ice cream and I saw a guy get chased by the cops. I might have been 4.

I just graduated high school.

It wasn’t bad. I wasn’t bullied. I had Oli, Misha, and Collin as friends. And they are all great.
