FINE but only if you finally run that gondolin campaign and give me an excuse to PLAY THEM AGAIN (threat (affectionate))

okay!! so antar is one of two (2) tolkien ocs i have, both made for d&d purposes. they’re a character i made for a fall of gondolin one-shot game that jaz ran one time. being a fall of gondolin one-shot, the idea was that we were all going to die horribly, it was really just a matter of how.

something that should probably be known about me: i keep wanting to make d&d characters to have get killed off dramatically, but i literally never can, because i get way too fucking attached to them.

so therefore, this is fun, right! i get to make a fun little doomed character, they get to die horribly, i am not going to have them long-term so it literally doesn’t matter!! blorbo for my torture!!

i rolled antar up like an hour, not even, before this game. i chose everything about them to be about as doomed as possible. i even gave them the oathsworn background!!! and, at jaz’s absolutely evil suggestion, to which i went oh that would be SO bad for them,

i had them swear two oaths.

one, they are oathsworn to turgon, to protect gondolin at all costs.

two, they are oathsworn in complete and absolute loyalty to maeglin.

(over the two hours in question, i would come to frequently and almost exclusively refer to maeglin as “my son, who is also my boss.”)

i spent the entire two hours wondering how, exactly, this was going to play out, which oath they were going to inevitably break, what they would do when confronted with what maeglin had done.

well.

antar sees maeglin on the cliff with earendil.

drops literally everything to try to get to him immediately.

gets there, and realizes that morgoth has done something to his mind.

tries at first to convince him that he’s safe, that they’ll protect him from literal morgoth himself if they must.

and when that fails.

declares that they will prove that he is safe.

and immediately breaks their oath to the entire city to defend maeglin, genuinely believing that they could save him, and save everyone.

understandably, they then immediately took twenty shadow points at once, in a game where straight-up murder makes you take five, and then naturally proceeded to die falling off of said cliff.

also understandably, they then immediately proceeded to make me insane about them forever.

several weeks later, they would still be living in my brain enough for me to decide that, as a member of turgon’s guard, they bore extremely direct witness to eol’s attempted murder of maeglin/successful murder of aredhel, and probably also eol’s subsequent execution. they were extremely affected by watching a child lose both of his parents in one of the most traumatizing ways possible and just. sorta decided that anything this kid needs, they’re there for. truly i do not want to backstory build deeper than that until i get to play them more, because it’s more fun for me if things come up naturally, but they’re an absolute thembo ridden with a deep and unshakable responsibility complex who has just absolutely mentally adopted this poor kid. they’re the house of the mole’s secretary. they’re a polite ball of sunshine. they will kill for you if they love you. and now jaz uses them whenever maeglin needs to have a secretary in fics, which is truly the highest honor.

and @ jaz for asking me this, actually let me play them more i WILL break into your apartment and start getting the dice out myself this is a THREAT <3

Okay okay SO. First of all one of my best friends from back home showed me THIS FUCKING WEBSITE https://www.fantasytowngenerator.com/ it makes the most goddamn in depth maps like I made the capital city of axtia (what i renamed Zeus) and it generated 10,003 individual npcs for me so I've just been messing around with that right

Also. You may not be familiar with the changeling race in DnD, I'll link their page if you care Changeling - DND 5th Edition (wikidot.com) but basically they have the power to shapechange into anyone they want and they're my little blorbos and I love them. So of course I'm having changelings be a decently important race in Osira (continent name), they're widely feared because they're connected to the fae and also they do literally steal babies - changeling mothers have this instinctual urge to swap their newborn with a newborn of another race, some manage to resist but Not All. and when a changeling's been put in the place of another child they instinctively take the form of that child and hold it until their 15th birthday at which point they revert to their true form and that's also usually when they and their family find out they're a changeling. and usually they get kicked out. (this is all my worldbuilding btw this is not canon in dnd) so yeah I've got a changeling npc named Jessamin (true name Jex) and she's totally not a self insert and she's my favorite

Remember how I said I added two more gods? Yeah I did that. The Hunter used to be a human until she died leading a revolt against Axtia because oh yeah axtia is like not good and she was given immortality by the other god the Watcher who was tired of Axtia's antics. The Hunter trained for like several hundred years and then nearly succeeded in killing Axtia's avatar at which point Axtia was like oh shit she's like kind of a problem. Remember the Chasm? The big Texas-sized hole in the ground that causes a lot of fae-related issues? Yeah Axtia created the Chasm to imprison the Hunter 1 or 2 thousand years before the present day. So the party's objective will be to free the Hunter from the prison in the center of the Chasm and she will then proceed to do her damndest to kill Axtia and like half the other gods who are also not chill. The Watcher's mostly along for the ride, they've been keeping the Hunter up to date on everything that's been going on for as long as she's been locked up. It's forbidden to worship those two, not least because Axtia and the others would very much like people to not know they exist, but they have a decent underground following among mostly elves, tieflings, and changelings.

Let me know if you want any more information. I'm getting back into my "smbaby dnd campaign" hyperfixation, they are my skrunklies and i will gladly talk about them

Beware, for it is Blorbo From my Thoughts posting time again!

I now have three playthroughs of BG3 where Gale is getting smooched.

My tiny ass drow barbarian, Mairon (yes yes I know it was like 2 am when I was doing character creation and I basically threw myself in game). They can and will commit murders about people hurting Gale. Mystra is definitely on The List. Again, this is me we're talking about, so that shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who knows me well enough.

My dorky human ranger, Olfric, who I've spouted off about on here twice now (he's soft. And dumb. I love playing him in my actual dnd campaign).

And my teifling bard, Shaidan. Who would probably go for Wyll if it wasn't for the fact that Gale can actually keep up with her smart ass mouth and sass levels (I think Wyll would probably either cry or end up with a migraine if he tried, potentially both considering how spicy she is). She will also absolutely commit murders about people hurting Gale without a second thought. Once again, Mystra included. Obviously.

Heir’s favorite posts of 2022

It’s that time of year again: the end. So I get to talk about my favorite things I posted. It’s funny, I feel like I really didn’t draw that much more than last year, and I certainly didn’t get any better. If anything, I’ve probably regressed. But even then, in these past few months I’ve probably felt more joy about drawing than I have in a long time. In a way, it feels like I’ve removed all my expectations for myself and I just... I just get to draw whatever I want, and it doesn’t matter if it looks sucky to me. “Face didn’t come out right? That’s fine, it still looks cute. It doesn’t look as good as it used to? No worries, you’ve done it before and you’ll do it once more. And even if you don’t, you can still have fun with it and make people happy.”

Maybe I’m just finally done with being mean to myself about my drawings. Maybe I just wanna draw cute/silly stuff for my friends. Because, as I’ve said before, you don’t have to be great and powerful to make something that makes a great and powerful difference in someone’s day. Anyway...

Ol’ Reliable Applejack. This is one of the first drawings I made with my new tablet, and the first one that made me think “Okay... I can still do this.” Even before my bestest most favorite tablet broke, I hadn’t been feeling the whole “drawing” thing in awhile. As simple as this looks, it felt like a real turning point.

Internet Fuzz Queens. As a very young child, I had this idea in my head that all my favorite cartoon characters lived in a community together and they would hang out and stuff. This is was an extremely self-indulgent comic that required specific knowledge of four different fandoms, and I want to do more like it. I love my blorbos and I want to see them hang out together.

Angel Byrd. My OC turned space kangaroo in my Scum and Villainy campaign. I’m glad I got to give her a little more pizzazz. I forgot to mention it in the original post, but the reason her dress has a tummy window is because she’s planning on smuggling museum artifacts in her pouch lol. We’re actually doing the second part of the heist tomorrow, wish us luck!

Kaysee Cadet! A character I made for a dnd Humblewood campaign. I really love how this came out. Ultimately I did settle on the orange fur, but maybe I’ll do something with that black fur design at some point. Gawd I’ve grown really attached to this character. They’re autistic, and they’re not native to the setting of the campaign, so “common” isn’t their first language. It’s been really difficult for them to navigate the world, and some people have been quite cruel to her, including her own family. All she wants is love, and they try SO HARD to help people despite everything, and we’re getting to the part in the campaign where the party transitions from “ragtag group of weirdos forced together” to “found family.” But tragedy struck in the last session of the year, and now it’s more of a “darkest hour” moment. And I’m just... I love my blorbos, especially the ones I made up ;_;

Give Trans Girls Swords. Winter is this lovely artist’s sheep fursona. I’d been wanting to draw them for awhile, she has such an appealing design. This was so fun to draw, I love making things for friends and also giving trans girls swords.

I really want to make my own fursona one of these days...

Miss Pie’s Monsters. It was... so nice to see the monster gang again. MPM is absolutely one of those projects that I never stopped thinking about, never lost hope that I could finish it one day, even those it’s been years since its last real update. I’m happy with myself for sticking to the update schedule I promised, even if I was calling it close sometimes lol. I hope people liked seeing them again. And to the people that I know liked seeing them again: first, I love u, I hope I can continue to update it in the coming year. I can’t wait to reveal who the Captain of the guard really is.

Stay fantastic, I hope we all have a better 2023. Or at the very least, make it through it together. <3

I’m actually... better than I have been about WIPs and stuff in the past thanks to getting into SWTOR and writing for it because one (1) night it was midnight and I decided that my Tyr x Theron brainrot had to go SOMEWHERE so it might as well be AO3. So, in my attempts to continue embracing that philosophy of just sharing to share, a lot of what I write for SWTOR tends to be posted the day I finish it or a bit later if I need to let it marinate for elaboration or editing purposes. But I do have some. Of course I do.

2. is it easier to draw someone facing left or right? (or forward even)

umm.... i thing left and right are about the same to me, but it is easier for me to draw someone looking slightly to the side than straight on i think.

8. what is an old project idea that you've lost interest in?

not that i would never come back to anything from it or reuse the ocs from it, but in high school i had a weird story idea in highschool where the main character was a neandertal/half neandertal and lived in an underground mall connected to a natural cave system where cannibals lived and she was like besties with one of them.... ive revamped the characters a few times and i probably will again eventually, but unfortunately the story just didnt have a plot u-u.

20. something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy.

my sister once told me drawing faces in profile was difficult, but ive always liked it.... also in general ive been told my expressions are good and i know some people struggle with that... ive also never had trouble with the idea of developing a style as some people seem to.

26. whats a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended.

a person once went through my shera comic on deviant art leaving nice comments along the way, and i was sweating because they didnt seem to notice the horror elements..... at first........ and in my mind i was just like "oh no!!! im going to let this random person down by being weird!!!!!"

also when i made this specific comic i thought the idea of a clone pulling out secret katanas that he keeps on his person at all times 'just in case' and laying his brothers asunder as soon as the wifi goes down was HILARIOUS. the funniest concept ever. very clear jokey-joke times. then i drew it. and it looked a LOT gorier than i imagined it. i even colored the blood green, even though i do think the clones blood would be red to make it look less gory. then i posted it. and like its not like it got tons of traffic, but what comments i did see, it seemed like people didnt know how to take it, like it looked too serious. and i couldnt be like. no, you see. murder is funny. why arent you laughing. hes literally killing them with katanas.

29. media you love, but doesnt inspire you artistically.

most stuff i watch honestly... ive only really gotten into fandom with spop. i guess the series of unfortunate events books when i was a kid. i loved them but i cant remember any specific fantasies i had surrounding them. i really liked the hellboy comics but i cant do shading like that LOL. as an adult... i really liked the the adventure zone original dnd campaign but could never imagine blorbo-ifying the characters fandom style because the line between character and real life person not acting is just too thin for me in that kind of format. so i guess all dnd playing type shows like that, i like the format but not in an art inspiration way.
