as i'm working on a new carrd (and wanting to go overboard with all the sections i could add), i keep thinking back to Ye Olden Days of the rpc, like 10 years ago. it's just funny how things change! i remember phases of seemingly everyone having the same theme or custom pages etc. and container theme phases, then non-container theme phases, and back again probably. and then in recent years things changed to the google doc thing as being mobile friendly/accessible was more and more relevant, then to carrd.

How to spot a scam blog
A very simple guide to figuring out if the blog messaging you is a scam:
Was you sent an ask within some time of sharing a specific type of post such as a trending topic or subject? - Usually scam accounts target particular posts and will spam asks to everyone who shared it. The ask may relate to certain events going on or more. These asks are always sent to many users all at once so it’s suggested to tumblr search part of the ask and see if its been sent by other accounts labeled as a scam or accounts with similar style.
Is the account relatively new? - More often than not, the accounts sending the asks are about a week old or even newer. They haven’t been made too long ago and often send asks within hours of being made. If you have timestamps turned on, you’ll be able to see the date something was posted. A fresher account is usually not going to be one who’s finding you unless they are searching tags and saw your blog.
How many posts are on the account? - Scam accounts rarely have many posts on their blogs beyond the initial pinned post. All their posts, being very few are very little, are most often just posts from a trending topic they looked up or a popular tag they decided to look through. They will share only a few and then make no further posts. This is to pad out their blog to make it look used but it’s easy to see how new the blog is if you scroll to the end.
Are the shared posts fitting a theme? - Scam accounts try to share posts based on the scam they’re trying to run. This means they’ll share posts related to the topic of their choosing and then stop once they’ve shared a few. Most of these posts come from the OP themselves and not from someone the blog is following though in rare cases they’ll find a person to reblog from so they don’t look suspicious.
Are the reblog dates accurate? - If you use timestamps, find a post the blog shared and check ‘Other notes’ and see if the reblog date matches the date that is listed on the blog itself. Often, scammers will backdate posts to make them look much older then they really are in an attempt to deceive people into thinking they’ve used tumblr for months or years.
Is the url auto-generated? - Not always seen from a scam account, but scammers often just use auto-generated usernames because it’s quick and easy to do. But real accounts may have these too. It’s just a thing to keep in mind.
Is the url familiar or similar to one you’ve seen before? - Scammers often try to copy their older accounts by using usernames based around previous scam attempts. It becomes obvious after about a while and usually makes it easy to figure out the scammer is back again. This isn’t always from scam accounts as regular accounts may do this for reasons.
How often do you get asks? - If you barely get asks and suddenly keep getting mutual aid asks it’s very likely you’re just a scammers latest target and they’ll keep spamming asks. This means you’ll consistently get the same style of asks from a brand new account that shouldn’t know you unless they found you in tags. You will keep getting these asks on a daily basis. You will eventually always get these asks.
Did they request you to message them directly? - On rare occasions a scam account will want you to send them a direct message and then they’ll just ask you for thousands of dollars on the spot.
Does your bio say no mutual aid asks? - Scammers don’t read/don’t care they will ignore that and send you asks anyway that won’t stop them.
Short version: More often than not the blog asking you for money is a scam if you don’t usually get asks for money from brand new accounts.

good evening reddit users, welcome to the website. not seen one of these that tells you how to make this website bearable so here goes
Tumblr media
starting off with dashboard settings you want to turn off endless scrolling (it slows down the website after a while of scrolling), turn off shorten long posts because one of the main things about this website is the total lack of a character limit (as an alternative to this setting, you can press j to skip to the next post on the dashboard if the current one is kind of long). turning on timestamps is convenient because it allows you to check when a post was made (don't get me wrong: this website absolutely LOVES reblogging old posts, but there are times when it's worth checking if a post has very old news in it)
Tumblr media
turn off best stuff first right away. one of the main reasons cited for joining tumblr is because "there is no algorithm". this is not entirely true, we have one but we routinely turn off anything algorithmic that staff adds. turning off best stuff first means your dashboard will be reverse chronological no matter what, and turning off based on your likes and stuff in your orbit will get rid of the rest of the algorithmically-recommended content that appears on your dashboard
following tags is nice because you will occasionally see posts with tags you follow sprinkled into your dashboard. this is considered good because it's almost always recent, I personally recommend turning on include followed tag posts and just following a bunch of random tags that you think could be interesting (characters, media, topics, whatever)
Tumblr media
this one's a more personal thing but I would absolutely turn off any community labels because tumblr staff has recently been just putting a bunch of random posts under this despite being entirely sfw. if you ACTUALLY want to filter content, then go to filtered tags:
Tumblr media
unlike the community labels which are put arbitrarily by staff, tags are put on by the actual users and so you can MUCH more reliably filter out content you don't want to see by putting filtered tags. this also works for any kind of content unlike the community labels, meaning you can just filter out stuff that you don't want to see (a particular character, a particular piece of media, a certain topic, anything you want really)
Tumblr media
turn on custom theme immediately. the standard view of tumblr.com/url will give people who are not logged in a forced login wall, meanwhile url.tumblr.com will not. by doing this you also get access to your post archive at url.tumblr.com/archive, which lets you look through your posts more easily (the search function is awful). the main benefit of this, however, is that you get to have a custom look to your blog: going to edit theme brings up a menu that allows you to customize your css, add pages to your tumblr blog, etc. all very useful stuff
it's also worth taking the time to consider whether or not you leave your liked posts and list of blogs you follow public (most people have likes turned off, following is also commonly turned off but I personally don't care about others seeing who I follow)
Tumblr media
turn off the let people blaze your posts. blaze basically allows you to pay money to show a post to a random group of people by paying money, suffices to say that allowing others to blaze your posts without your consent will inevitably lead to one of your personal posts getting blazed by some prick and now hundreds of people have seen it
asks are one of the main ways of interacting with blogs so absolutely turn them on. whether you allow anons is your choice, anonymity allows people to say nice things without feeling embarrassed about how everyone knows who said that, but it also allows people to send hateful stuff with no consequence.
submissions are like whatever. I personally leave them on but in my 5 years of having this blog I've been submitted to twice.
to close off this post I'll leave my personal thoughts on reblog etiquette:
reblogging is great. reblog the fuck out of anything. does the post amuse you slightly? reblog it. go wild
that being said please don't put anything in your reblogs unless it's like a really important comment. your comment will be immortalized forever if someone reblogs the post from you and on popular posts I have to constantly go back a couple years to get rid of an annoying comment like "LOL THIS IS SO FUNNY" because that person didn't realize that their addition was wholly unnecessary
if you DO want to add something to say your thoughts on the post in a quiet voice that doesn't get permanently added onto the original, consider talking in the tags of your reblog. this is considered nicer since when the post is reblogged from you your tags are not going to stick around. there is also this process known as "peer review" in which if your tags are sufficiently funny one of your followers (or sometimes a random person browsing the notes of the post) will screenshot/copy and paste your tags into a reblog, which is a much more natural way of having your comment added into the post
tags are also nice to use or organizational purposes. clicking on a post with a certain tag on your blog will show you every post with that tag on your blog allowing you to find posts later, alternatively you can go to url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/[insert tag here] to a similar effect.
that's all I have to say on this subject. have fun on our glorious website
edit: oh yeah also unfollow staff. it will make you look normal 👍

I wrote a bunch of paragraphs about nothing in particular again so here it is under a readmore so it doesn't take up space.
like 8 years ago when people used tumblr more via desktop browser than its app, I put a 3rd party metric tracker in my desktop theme that logged how people were referred to my blog. it also captured what pages of my blog people viewed.
at one point during this time I reblogged a piece of pixel art from a japanese artist. they came to my blog through their activity page, and then searched my blog in a couple different ways for the terms "ドット" and "ドット絵" ("dot" and "dot art", as in pixel art). I checked those search urls myself to see if they found anything but there were no results because I never used those terms or specifically tagged pixel art in any other way.
ever since then I've made an effort to tag all pixel art I reblog with the term "pixel art". that artist was probably hoping to find more art to check out and it bums me out that my tagging system wasn't thorough enough to help.
this is why I have my current specific tag system lol. it keeps evolving but having the ability to find stuff you're into without jumping through hoops is really handy. (the site-wide post and tag searches return sooo much bullshit. it's a slog sifting through thr noise whenever I use those to fill my queue due to the sheer amount of manga caps, polls, liveblogs, personal posts, and fics posted without readmores...)
if only the way to view all tags you've ever used still worked. I think it caps at 500 or 1000 now and is also chronological so the first 500 or whatever tags you ever used show up in the list. then there's a hard stop and it does not update as you delete posts or use that mass tag editor to remove certain tags for your blog entirely.
I went through my used tag list earlier this year to unify certain tags and remove tags that I stopped using in favor for other ones, but I only got like 400 tagged terms down the list. maybe downloading my blog data would show more. the trick I mentioned uses your desktop blog's archive page. the tags are in its code so you can use "inspect element" to view it. I remember scrolling a lot to load a bunch of posts on the page but cant remember if this was required or I just did it to see if I could access more tags.
it's formatted all fucked and hard to manage but you can copy and paste the long chunk of tags into one cell of a spreadsheet and then use Data options to split them into columns by commas (or whatever punctuation separates them, I forget). a wide list is a huge pain to view so from there you can click on a cell containing data, click ctrl+a to highlight all data in thr row, copy, then paste special as "transposed" to turn the copied row 90° so it pastes as a column. the spreadsheet will wide as fuck from the hundreds of columns so honestly its easier to paste the transposed data into a new tab and delete the original vs clicking in the column to the left of your transposed data and then pressing ctrl+ shift+right arrow to select all rows to the right, then deleting the extra rows.
if you're in Excel you may have to use the "delete rows" option from the "home" tab and then save the sheet using "file > save" (do NOT save via the save button on the upper left corner or ctrl+s). this returns the sheet to a manageable size for scrolling (plus reduces its file size). this piece of shit software usually retains the sheet width/length even after you delete hundreds of columns/rows unless you use this trick of deleting specifically via home tab + saving specifically through the save menu.
I got a round number of tags when I did this which makes me think there's a cutoff.

Alright after some cursory investigation here’s some wild speculation about this new project being teased by some big Dimension 20 names. It seems to be related to Rude Tales of Magic, which I am almost entirely unfamiliar with, so this is all going to be a major shot in the dark.
1) The website is here, if you’re unfamiliar: https://earstotheskynewgroundallaroundheavensplitopenandohwhatasound.com/
2) Currently it has been posted by Brennan Lee Mulligan, Aabria Iyengar, Erika Ishii, Lou Wilson, and Taylor Moore. My understanding is that Taylor Moore produces, but does not play in, Rude Tales of Magic, an actual play podcast. It has not been posted or retweeted by any official dropout accounts. Rude Tales of Magic has retweeted it all, though.
3) The countdown leads up to midnight on New Year’s Eve - in Eastern Time. Dropout projects typically use Pacific time. Further feeds my belief that this is Rude Tales of Magic related, not Dropout. Plus Dimension 20 has its own established hype cycle - this would be a weird approach.
4) All of the above means to me that despite having so many of the Misfits & Magic crew, that’s not what this is. At least I would be VERY surprised if it was.
5) Whatever it is, it’s strongly associated with sound. Beyond being mentioned in the url, and the “hear it comes” pun, there is a very eerie dramatic audio/song playing in the background. Digging through the html, the audio is called “The Worlds Whisper” (or “the world’s whisper”? unclear on whether the apostrophe is missing due to technical reasons, but the meaning could be VERY different depending) and is hosted on Squarespace. That leads me to believe this is an original audio creation uploaded for this project. Or my ability to google sounds is bad, which is probably true regardless.
6) The favicon for the page is a small black cube. So I am 100% confident this is definitely a fully audio-only podcast of some very well known dnd players playing minecraft. Just talking about what they’re looking at on their screens. A new age of streaming is upon us, I’m certain of it. (just kidding this is the squarespace default icon, if you’re gonna go down a rabbit hole like me know this is a dead end)
7) This is a stretch, but if sound is a recurring theme, then time is also a possible theme? It’s released with a countdown to the New Year. The site features a rotating ring of stars and a burning campfire - both used as storytelling shorthand for the passage of time.
8) why did I do this, I am very tired

Hi! This is about the saved tag post. Yeah. They've not existed for me since the summer 2023. It really bugs me, because I have very long, but specific tags i use, or rather, USED to use for certain things i reblog. Since the search feature in my blogs seems not to work at all, combined with the absence of saved tags, I have no access to certain older posts I have in my blog, unless I literally scroll years back. Tumblr really dropped the ball here.
thank you! glad to hear confirmation about the summer 2023 timeline and that it's making the use of tumblr equally frustrating.
a tidbit to help make your blog searchable: if you go into your blog settings there's an option to set a custom theme.
Tumblr media
if you enable this option then you'll get a specific tumblr domain for your blog (for example, mine is cinematicnomad.tumblr.com) instead of just the default tumblr domain www.tumblr.com/cinematicnomad that lets people view your blog within the dashboard. once you have a custom domain, you can search your blog for any tag.
so for example, if i wanted to look at all my past asks, i would type into the url: cinematicnomad.tumblr.com/tagged/ask. this would pull up all prior posts with the tag #ask
or, if i was trying to find a post but couldn't remember the specific tag but say, hey, i knew i talked about london, i could type in the url: cinematicnomad.tumblr.com/search/london. this should ideally pull up all posts that mention the word london—this is similar to the search feature that's already on your blog right now, it's not great and definitely misses some stuff.
you can search related words by adding a +. so if i were looking for posts where i mentioned london, and sherlock, for example i'd type in the url: cinematicnomad.tumblr.com/search/london+sherlock and voila.
LAST, with a custom theme, if you can't remember the tag, or even what you said, but you CAN remember the date you can always search the day. it'll always be formatted /day/year/month/date. so for example if i wanted to look up this day last month, i'd type in the url: cinematicnomad.tumblr.com/day/2023/12/23.
anyway this got long but thanks for letting me know saved tags don't work for you, and i hope you enable a custom theme so you have an easier time searching for past posts!

// Heya! The mod of this blog here!
From what I’ve gathered, a lot of people, especially in the splat rp community are new, which is great! As someone who’s been roleplaying for a long time, I love seeing new faces. However, it also seems less veterans of similar communities are around and as such, tips and tricks that people have learned with askblogging and rping on tumblr haven’t been regularly brought up!
So consider this post a helpful guide to tips and tricks to rp blogging on tumblr! I’m not here to tell anyone how to do things, but these are simply things I’ve learned and I personally think help enhance the experience! If you have advice you want to add, or questions you want to ask, feel free to add on, ask me or DM me! Without further ado, let’s get on with it!
Tumblr media
QOL Tip 1 - RP icons!
While not necessary for the rp experience, icons can help with viewer engagement and also visually spice up text; especially if there’s lots of it! While any size would be fine, 100x100 pixels or under is recommended! This is to avoid making the post longer than it should be! I’ll be using some of my mod icons throughout this post to demonstrate! You can acquire icons under the various ways: canon art, fanart, or your own art! Canon and your own art are easy, since people know the source and you don’t need to credit yourself! If you want to use fanart, be sure to ask artists for their permission and credit the source!
Tumblr media
QOL Tip 2 - Blog themes!
I’ve seen a surprisingly low amount of custom blog themes! In fairness, tumblr has been kind of quietly shoving them away for some time now, though it’s one of the best features in my opinion! It’s a classic part of older internet culture, where you get to cultivate a theme to what you want to portray! Don’t know how to code? There’s plenty of free themes people upload for use! One of the most famous blogs to get them from is theme-hunter, though individual theme makers may have their own blogs so be sure to be on the lookout!
Tumblr media
You can enable custom themes in your account settings! Click the edit theme button aaand!
Tumblr media
You’ll find the custom theme button right at the top of your settings! You simply replace all the code in here with a custom theme you found! Be sure to try and make it legible for others to look at!
Tumblr media
QOL Tip 3 - XKit!
It occurs to me not many people may be aware of what XKit is, so here’s a quick rundown: it’s a third party add-on that improves your tumblr browsing experience! Whether it’s aesthetically or functionally, XKit is here to help! There’s been quite a weird experience with the add-on for years; a history I won’t step into right now, but XKit Rewritten is openly available and free to use! I highly recommend using its many features if you haven’t already. Here’s both the Chrome and Firefox versions!
Tumblr media
Blog Tip 1 - Blogs are your friend!
I’ve seen a lot regular anons rping in inboxes lately, which is well and good! But personally, I like being able to find stuff I send people, or being able to reblog it somewhere specific or keep my muses I send out in order! If you operate from a main blog, like I do, sideblogs are great to make and simple! Being able to keep your muses and any asks you send out organized in one spot not only helps yourself, but anyone you send asks out to or you want to reply to I would say this is a bigger personal decision than some of the other stuff in here, but I find it helps in the long haul especially if you want to keep certain things going! Even a blog where you can just reblog asks you send out would be nice! If you wish to not reveal your main blog for whatever reason, you can simply send it on an anon and include your sideblog’s url in the ask!
Tumblr media
Blog Tip 2 - Organization and Setup
If you’re intent on having a blog, simply having a blank page can only take you so far! There’s a few important things that I highly recommend blogs have if they wish to help themselves and others.
1. Tagging system: While not required, personally I find this helps me stay organized! Sometimes, all you need is to tag asks or rp responses, but I also like to tag anons and specific blogs I interact with! It helps when I want to look through something and I can use the tagging system instead of the search one, which sometimes leaves posts out! (Note: As far as I’m aware, the tagging system on blogs recently changed when trying to find them from how it used to be, so be aware of that!) Another important thing with tagging systems is to keep them consistent! This may seem obvious, but I had a serious issue with this when I was younger and had about 3 tags with slight variations of each other so none of my posts showed up in the same tag! 2. Blog pages: Even with the default themes, you can make custom pages on your blog that’ll even show up on mobile! (There’s a button for it to show up on the page, though most people link them in custom themes.) You can use this for many things, such as a reference page for your characters and other things, but I highly recommend setting up an about/rules page. These help with interaction between other users
Tumblr media
Blog Tip 3 - Roleplay and Post Length
Roleplay is one of my favourite parts of blogging in these sorts of communities; getting to interact with other bloggers and muses is awesome! Which is why it’s so important to keep your experience in mind when roleplaying! Ye olde ancient tip is to “trim” rp posts that are starting to get long! What’s trimming a post mean, you might ask? Well, rp posts tend to get rather long on tumblr, and it can make it a lot to scroll through! Both for you and others. Trimming it allows the rp post to not be as long, but you can still continue with your partner(s). My recommendation is to try and trim before 5-7 replies are hit, but this can vary dependent on the length of replies!
There’s two main ways to trim posts! 1. Use XKit’s feature: XKit has a feature that allows you to trim rp posts; it can end up a little funky sometimes, but it makes things shorter for sure! 2: Make a new post: This may seem like a lot, but making a new post is no big deal! It’s main done by linking the previous reply somewhere in the new post and either pinging your partner or messaging it to them!
Tumblr media
As previously mentioned, I hope this doesn’t come across as me telling anyone what to do. These are just things I learned when I started roleplaying, and I’ve kept with me since then. And I hope they help you! If you’ve made it this far, I hope it was a helpful read at least! I tend to not make posts like this; I certainly didn’t expect to make one on this silly kitty blog but what can I say. People outside of the splat community are welcome to rb this if you think it’ll help! I may have missed something, or may not personally use it, so feel free to add on things in the replies or reblogs!
I hope you all have a nice day, and thank you for reading and following this blog if you do!

Any advice for new tumblr accounts? I just joined and I have no clue how to grow a following? -shy anon lol
oh boy this isn't something i've really thought about before.
when i first joined tumblr in 2013 i wasn't looking to grow a following, i just knew some artists i liked were on here and i wanted to see what they were posting. it wasn't until years later i started posting my own gifs and art over on my main blog. follower counts aren't public but i don't mind sharing if it helps so on @emptymasks which i've had since 2013 and at times have posted a lot of gifs, art and fisc too and at other times have gone months and months without posting any of that because i don't see tumblr as a social media to like make money off or anything, it's just fun, i have 2988 on my main blog.
this blog dervampireprince has existed since december 2020 but it was a different blog with a different name until march 2021 when it became dervampireprince. so this blog has existed posting 18+ writing since march 2021 and audios since december 2021 and i have 3682 followers over here. never expected this blog to me my post popular but i'm not complaining.
tumblr isn't like other social medias, you can't see other users follower counts, following counts, and recommended and trending posts don't get thrown at you. you mostly only see posts from people you follow. yes there are recommended posts now but if you're an older tumblr user like myself you may use Xkit which is a 3rd party extension for tumblr that adds a bunch of features (blocking posts with certain words in them, mass tag editor/replacer, an outbox, ad blocker, use tumblr using older themes and layouts, etc) so some people don't get any recommended posts.
there's only one way to get your posts noticed by people on tumblr and that's using tags correctly, and relying on people who check their favourite tags to notice your posts. now a lot of people must not be like me, because i don't check tags for things very often, but clearly a lot of people do or my posts would have no notes. what tags you use though is going to depend on what type of post you're making. you can use up to 20 tags. tumblr will let you type more than 20, but anything above tag 20 won't be searchable, as in if you 21st tag is [marvel], your post will not show up under search results for marvel unless it's tag 20 or lower, not on tumblr general search nor in search results on your own blog.
(sidenote - tumblr's search used to take you to tumblr.com/tagged/[thing you searched for] and years ago they changed it to tumblr.com/search/[thing you searched for]. you can still get to the /tagged page by typing it in the URL bar, /tagged always shows most recent posts first which i prefer and also if you searched for [loki] then /tagged would only show you posts where the word loki is tagged, whereas /search shows you posts that have loki tagged and have the word loki typed in any text in the actual post. which is annoying and you end up with non relevant posts showing up in certain tags)
so for example if i'm writing a nsft writing posts these are the tags i tend to use are: #nsft nsftumblr #nsft concept #nsft fantasy #nsft writing #ftm nsft #mlm nsft #nblm nsft #t4t nsft #trans nsft #trans man nsft #transmasc nsft #lgbt nsft #bi nsft . Now all those tags aren't relevant to every nsft post, some are gender specific, but you can find what other tags exist by just checking the general #nsft and #nsftumblr tags and seeing what other people use as tags when they post.
(and having xkit means i don't have to remember and type these out every time, i just have them saved as a tag bundle and one click and they all go in the tags)
Tumblr media
or for example if i'm making a post on my main blog for a sandman drawing i've down i'd use the tags: the sandman #dream of the endless #sandman #fanart #hob gadling #dreamling #dreamgadling #hob x dream #dream x hob #morpheus #lord morpheus #myart #sandman fanart #the sandman fanart . And then people find it through the fandom and ship tags mostly.
Of course if you already have followers then your followers will see your posts no matter if you use any tags or none, but tags are the only way to get people who aren't following you to see your post, and hope that some of them reblog it so their followers can see (unlike social medias like Twitter, like aren't public here, your followers can't see what posts you like, and even if you set your likes to public they can only see them if they go to a specific page on your blog, your likes don't show up in their dashboard/timeline like they do on Twitter).
This is my oldest original piece of writing on here
Tumblr media
I had somewhere between 1-10 followers at the time and currently it stands at 52 notes. I didn't use many tags, I didn't know about the existence of many tags, but I used the few I knew about and specific kink tags and people noticed it.
And as always it's the posts you spend ages writing that get fewer notes than one silly sentence you post at 2am thinking no one will notice
Tumblr media
Because that still sits at my post popular post on this blog. And despite this blog having much more followers than my main, my post popular post ever is a Loki themed edit I did where I just posted 9 photos from fashion editorials, recoloured them to be green and black and gold, and it got to over 15k notes within a few months and none of my posts here are close to getting that many. Follower count doesn't reflect how popular a post can get.
Basically tags are your best friend on this site, use them wisely, don't use more than 20. It doesn't hurt to follow and interact with other blogs who are posting similar content to you, your followers are going to see any posts you reblog as well as your original posts. I've never approached another blog trying to be mutuals or friends before, if I end up getting to know anyone it just sorta happens from us seeing each others names a lot in our notes and sending asks to each other. Like with with aspiring-house-husband for example, I never sent them a message saying 'can we be friends' because that's kinda creepy, I just was reblogging a lot of their writing, chose to engage by sending them some rp asks, complimenting their writing, and then i realised they'd reblogged from me, small world, and speaking of Fawn, in less than a year they got almost 7k followers which is insane and goes to show how talented at writing they are. If you're really only doing it for the followers then finding a niche can help, if you're wanting to write nsft stuff you could focus around certain kinks or creatures or something. I ended up focusing around royalty kink stuff, and I hadn't even heart of it until a couple months into making this blog so.
I hope some of that was helpful? My goal with my main tumblr was just to be able to see art other people posted, making this tumblr yes I did hope for people to reblog my writing and I liked the idea of being a nsft blog people followed, but I didn't have any plans that I would make audios and end up making income off this stuff, it just happened that by the time I wanted to make audios I was lucky that 1. people were already following me and 2. I was making them for a new fandom that was really popular at the time (Arcane).
Yeah that was long, hope it helped, I don't know what sort of content you want to make and tumblr isn't like other socials, there's no 'tumblr influencers' and you can't get sponsored or monetized posts or get payed to host ads on your blog or anything like that so I can only tell you so much.
EDIT: I remembered something else! There are some blogs called source blogs, these blogs are normally centered around a fandom, character, actor, ship, etc. For example marvelgifs is a blog that reblogs Marvel gifs. These blogs will check posts tagged with their username, not @ ing them in the post, but putting their username as one of your tags etc #marvelgifs . You can tag source blogs as a way to help get your posts potentially reblogged. Most of these blogs only post and reblog gifs and edits but some do also reblog fanart, fics and other content for example I also run a blog @europeanmusicals where I reblog and post all content about European musicals that I can find including fanart and writings, and I check the #europeanmusicals tag to see if there's posts people want me to notice to them reblog to that blog. I was able to set up that blog as I'd already been posting about European musicals on my main emptymasks blog for a year or two at that point and surrounded myself with others who like that content.

Note
entitled writers on tumblr: beg for notes 24/7, hold fics hostage and won’t continue until they get a certain amount of notes, complain about the like reblog ratio 24/7
also entitled writers on tumblr: only promote their own work, don’t support other writers and don’t look for other fics, don’t appreciate likes even though those are still notes, don’t update fics regularly, block urls they don’t recognize, block blogs that are too new as though we’re all supposed to have been here since 2013 or something, constantly insults the reader audience, get mad if people tell you they liked it so much they wanna part two, get mad if comments aren’t up to your exact specifications

let me go point by point to prove you’re a fucking idiot.
your entire first paragraph: writing takes a lot of effort, and the ratio has changed over the past few years, largely because of new users that don’t exactly understand how tumblr works. that’s fine, we learn, but listen to people who’ve been on this site for years. we are well within our rights to express disappointment and feel discouraged over low note count, especially when readers demand new work without showing appreciation for what’s there.
“only promote their own work, don’t support others, don’t look for fics” i have never seen a writer do that. i know several writers that have entire separate blogs for fanfic recs. i have one! and if you check the #fic tag on my blog, guess what you’ll see? comment after comment on fics i’ve read. and i don’t even read fic that often, like ppl i’m following definitely read more than i do and my dash is full of them reblogging fic with lengthy comments. i make it a point not to follow writers who don’t support their fellow writers. bc we all understand the struggle.
“don’t appreciate likes even though they’re notes” a like tells me exactly nothing. it tells me you SAW my work. i don’t give two shits about note count. i would take a 40 note fic where 38 of the notes are comments/reblogs over a 10k note fic where 9.8k of the notes are likes. many writers would.
“don’t update fics regularly” again. writing is hard. it takes effort. and we’re all fucking adults with college, jobs, family, illnesses, life in general outside this site. you as a reader are not entitled to scheduled updates, you are not entitled to fic period.
“blocks urls you don’t recognize etc.” blogs that get blocked are often A. ageless/minors or B. completely blank with the default icon + theme. they look like bots. i only block minors on sight, but blogs that block blank/ageless blogs are well in their right to do so.
“constantly insult the reader audience” if you’re insulted by posts encouraging reblogging, take a look at how you interact with fic. the call is coming from inside the house.
your entire last point about comments: demanding more content is not a compliment. if all you say is “when’s part two??” or some variation then you are putting unfair pressure and burden on a writer who delivered you something that took time, effort, and talent. a demand ≠ a comment. writers are happy with a simple keysmash, so i don’t even get your point about “exact specifications.”
to sum. writers owe you jack shit. and if you have neither the capability nor the willingness to write your own fucking fanfic, then you don’t have a voice in this conversation. sorry.

writer q&a tag game
thank you for the tag, @words-after-midnight!! reading your answers after beta reading libaw is wild, i understand so much now lmao
i'm going to leave this as an open tag for anyone who wants to join!!
1. What is your absolute all-time favorite idea you've ever had?
so it goes, for sure.
2. Is there a question you've been asked in the past that really stands out to you and you still think about sometimes?
this is a weird answer, but an undergrad professor asked if a short story i turned in was the first chapter to a novel. it wasn't, and i tried for years to turn it into one, but he was wrong the whole time -- it was definitely not meant to be a novel. i think about that now because it reminds me that sometimes a story is meant to be a story, or a novel is meant to be a novel, and i don't have to try to shoehorn a story into an inappropriate format. (i have to keep re-learning this lesson, btw. i recently tried *again* to make that thing a novel.)
3. What is your favorite part of being a writer? What parts could you take or leave?
i absolutely love the way writing is an exorcism for me. even my found footage inspired short story helped me excavate and get rid of certain feelings, but on its surface it just seems like a fun horror movie treatment. my favorite part of the process is the language -- i love words and i love rearranging them until they sing off the page. i also find it so much easier to communicate in writing and love how it gives me the chance to connect with people.
the most difficult part of writing for me is not getting lost playing around in the story i've created. keeping a plot moving at a steady pace is my biggest difficulty. i still enjoy the challenge, but if i could just ghostwrite for people with better plots, i might consider it! also, what nico said about the state of publishing is why i stopped writing after college for such a long stretch.
4. What is your greatest motivation to write/create?
it's like scratching an itch for me, honestly. i don't know why i need to write, but i've done it since i was a kid, and it's always been there with me.
5. What is the best piece of advice you've ever read or been given as a writer?
my url is a reference to Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch, my favorite filmmaker. he talks about creativity in it, and full disclosure he is *heavily* into the transcendental meditation cult and credits that as his biggest source of creativity, buuuut what it really did for me was remind me that our imaginations are infinite and incredibly powerful at what it does.
6. What do you wish you knew when you were first starting out writing?
along the same theme as my previous answers: i wish i knew my imagination was enough and i don't have to compare my ideas to others', and that i can trust my own intuition about a story. (repeat after me: elle, that story is a short story, not a fucking novel)
7. What is your favorite story you've written TO COMPLETION? Link it if you'd like and can!
answering so it goes feels like cheating because i don't feel like it's actually complete, but my backup answer is a poem.
8. What is your favorite out-of-the-box quote?
i really like this line from the very first draft of so it goes: "She made her way back out to the street where the sun hadn’t risen and nothing had changed at all."
9. Which of your characters would you say has the most controversial mindset? Why do you say so and how do you personally feel about their ideals?
right now, Rosalyn from conversion is my most interesting character because of this. Rosalyn -- and the rest of the primary characters -- use feminist theory to justify what is essentially health fraud and dangerous alternative medicine beliefs. i don't agree with them, but i fully understand how they got to this perspective, which is why i'm so interested in the topic and am writing it in the first place!
10. If you when you first started writing met you now, what would younger you think?
i don't mean to brag, but my younger self would think my current self rocks so fucking hard lol. to be fair, i had a *very* limited idea of what life could be like, so having cleared that bar she set wouldn't be a challenge to most people! the fact that i still write would be enough for them to fawn over me, i think.

Elliot
Reposting since's its been awhile ^^''
Name:             Elliot
URL:  https://www.tumblr.com/blog/elliotalpha
Age:  26
Preferred Way of RPing :   Email, discord
Time Zone:    USA-EST (open to multiple time zones)
First, Second, or Third Person point of view?: . THIRD PERSON
Preferred Role :  Primarily Alpa, occasional omega
Preferred Pairing :   M/M -main   F/M-occasional
Do you prefer to RP with OCs (Original Characters), Fandom, or both?:   I prefer Original characters and stories
Fandoms (Please also mention the character you would like to play and their secondary gender.):   I prefer original plots
OCs (Optional to list them here or share them with your RP Partner):  I’ll mention when rping.
Favorite AUs: Fantasy, Realistic World,  Historical, Pirates, Hierarchy, Dark Themes, Moderate Age gaps
Triggers: None
Preferred length when replying:. I usually like a good paragraph or two. More story, more effort.
How long would like to RP for? (Short or long term, indefinitely, or not sure x):  I prefer long term. I’m used to doing 2+ years but even a few months is okay. I do this for character development.
Prompt(s) that you would like to share for a potential partner (Optional x):  I have a few, but like to build it with my partners.
Would you be willing to brainstorm a prompt (Y/N)?:  Absolutely
Omegaverse tropes that you DO NOT like to use (Use N/A if you have none x):   N/A
Omegaverse tropes that you DO enjoy using often and would like to use in your RP (Use N/A if you don’t mind using certain/any tropes):       N/A
Anything else that you would like to mention or say?:   18+ in age for a potential partner. I am okay with the characters being younger, but as for the actual person I am collaborating with, I want them to be of age for obvious reasons. I like my partners to reply at least a few times a day, and just basically be responses.  I am a pretty quick responder, and I like when my partners respond a bit quickly. I am okay with longer waits, as long as the responder gives a decent amount of response. My biggest thing I do in my roleplays is focus on character development. The deeper the story, and not all  “Play”, really fascinates me.  Depth is a big part of what I do.
I also ask that my partners have decent spelling and grammar and use proper punctuation.  Another thing that I do not tolerate very well is the “Damsel in Distress Syndrome”. It’s okay if its occasional, but in constant danger or threat of turmoil, I really can’t maintain interest.
I’m really looking for someone who just wants to embark on a creative story with me and have fun with it. I am a very flexible writer and love to participate in the ideas of the other writer.
If you are interested, I would love to discuss boundaries, plots, likes, and all others if you like.
I am also open to various other ways of responding as far as email, kik, discord, etc. Just let me know what you use!

For the ask game: 11, 36, 42, & 48?
Hello! Thanks for the ask anon!
11. favorite extracurricular activity?
Ooh that’s a good one, I’m not in it anymore (because I graduated!) but VAC, Visual Arts Classic. (Apologies in advance for the long explanation it’s just so fun!) it’s a Art competition, and it’s like this; every year there’s a different theme, last year it was texture, and you choose a category like drawing, painting, personal adornment, etc (there’s more then a dozen categories!) and you get a long term print that you have like 3 months to “answer”. This last year I did personal adornment, and my prompt was to make clothing for a original character from my favorite book, movie, or play, and there are certain materials that you can or can’t use. I made a elven warrior costume from the Silmarillion, basically the character was Elronds cousin and I worked in sindar and noldor colors and motifs and such. Then in January, I think it was? you have the regional competition where you bring your long term to be judged, and you receive a on site prompt in the same category that you have 2 1/2 hours to complete, like making jewelry for your character. Then you compete as a team in a quiz bowl about some artists or art styles, and then they recently brought back critical thinking, we had a hour to make a finger painting (minimum size of like 4ft by 4ft) of our coach - our art teacher. Then teams are scored as a group and there’s individual awards, if you team got first in anything you all go to state for that, and if you individually got first with your long term or on site you go to state for that (I got first for my long term and on site so I did!)
Then a few months later you bring your same long term to state to be judged again, and you get a new on site prompt, this time it was making something your character could hold, I tried making a dagger for the first time with a technique I’d saw 2 months ago, it went kinda okay? But I got first in my on site (small miracle 😂) and a perfect score on my long term! It’s just so much fun and you miss a day of school so.
36. how many times have you changed your url?
I haven’t actually, I either change my username in things a million times or never. I still like this one so it’ll probably be staying for a while.
42. an app you frequently use besides this godforsaken site?
Discord, for my d&d groups and the Last Homely server (if any of you are seeing this I love you guys! 💖), which is a Tolkien server, mostly for various Tolkien rock operas. Besides discord I don’t have many fun apps that I use a lot, but I do have WTForecast, which is a fun weather app that likes to swear about how it is outside.
48. when did you first try an alcohol beverage?
I actually haven’t, I’ve been offered some a plenty of times, and I’m just not interested in drinking. Although my mom makes a good tiramisu that has alcohol in it, and I sometimes have the non alcoholic versions of things lol. Honestly I’m glad I don’t go to many big parties where they drink a lot, because I don’t want to deal with the questions, and underage drinking, really drinking in general, is very big in my state.
Thanks again for the asks!!!

Enhance Your Home Decor with Exquisite Candle Ornaments
When it comes to transforming a house into a warm and inviting home, few decorative elements are as versatile and charming as candle ornaments. Candles have been cherished throughout history for their ability to create a cozy ambiance, bring a sense of tranquility, and add a touch of elegance to any space. In recent times, candle ornaments have taken center stage in the world of interior design, offering homeowners a myriad of creative ways to enhance their living spaces. In this article, we will explore the enchanting world of candle ornaments and discover how they can elevate your home decor to new heights.
The Allure of Candle Ornaments
Candle ornament for home decor come in various shapes, sizes, and styles, offering a wide range of options to suit different tastes and interior themes. From traditional pillar candles to intricate tea lights and decorative votives, each type of candle ornament brings its unique charm to a room. The flickering glow of candles creates an intimate atmosphere, making them ideal for setting the mood for a romantic dinner, a relaxing bath, or a cozy evening spent with loved ones.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Right Candle Ornaments
When selecting candle ornaments for your home, it's crucial to consider the overall theme and aesthetics of your living space. For a rustic and earthy ambiance, wooden candle holders or natural-themed candles work wonders. In contrast, sleek and modern interiors benefit from minimalist and contemporary candle designs. Additionally, scented candles can add another layer of sensory delight, infusing your home with pleasant fragrances that evoke specific moods or memories.
Arranging Candle Ornaments
The placement of candle ornaments is as crucial as the candles themselves. Strategically arranging candles can highlight certain features of a room and create focal points. For instance, placing a group of candles on a mantlepiece or a coffee table can draw attention to these areas and make them feel more inviting. Similarly, floating candles in a glass bowl can add an enchanting touch to a dining table or a centerpiece.
Safety First
While candles can create a mesmerizing atmosphere, it's essential to prioritize safety. Always ensure that your candle ornaments are placed on heat-resistant surfaces and kept away from flammable materials. Opt for flameless LED candles if you have concerns about open flames, especially if you have children or pets at home.
DIY Candle Ornament Ideas
For the creatively inclined, making your own candle ornaments can be a rewarding experience. DIY candle projects allow you to personalize the ornaments to match your style and preferences fully. From decorating plain candles with ribbons and beads to crafting custom candle holders with recycled materials, the possibilities are endless. Engaging in DIY projects can also be a fun and fulfilling activity to enjoy with family and friends.
Seasonal Delights
Candle ornaments aren't limited to year-round decor; they can also be adapted to various seasons and occasions. For instance, during festive holidays like Christmas, you can adorn your home with beautifully crafted holiday-themed candles or candle holders. In the spring, opt for floral-scented candles and pastel-colored holders to welcome the season of renewal and growth.

Independent Role Play Blog for OC Lucinda Reina Salvatierra of Hogwarts Legacy
The same information is posted below.
Header bg and Ravenclaw border from Hogwarts Legacy site!
READ FIRST
Blog created June 8, 2023. I am 28. I thought, what if Hogwarts Legacy had a Ravenclaw companion for the Sixth Year?? I immediately decided to make this blog after coming up with the perfect url.
For Lucy’s Questline, any OC / MCor canon muse can be her quest companion! It’s totally optional but something I want to try! I’m aware it might be OP if Lucy just somehow knows all 4 of the “Rewards” offered, so we can discuss if she learns it from your muse or if she teaches them to your muse instead but I think at least 2 of the 4 should be explored!
Undesirable anons or asks will be deleted. Not here to fight anyone regarding JKR.
Dark themes and spoilers won’t always be tagged unless it is stated in the rules of other blogs I follow.
Please correct me kindly if I get certain Wizarding World facts wrong.
I don’t do exclusives or mains, I always believed those come naturally over time and regardless of ‘Likes’ for such title.
That’s it? Don’t make me add more bullet points here. Let’s all have fun!

THREADS & AU’S TO EXPLORE
───※ ·LUCY’S QUESTLINE· ※───
Lucy has been a part of Hogwarts since her First Year, but her mind is often somewhere else. Or maybe she needs more to occupy her mind and time while adjusting from the muggle life to a witch’s.
With the return of Quidditch in her Sixth Year, she is excited to make a new friend during tryouts, of whom she can share her knowledge with… and possibly enlist to help break out an old friend who’s been wrongfully incarcerated to Azkaban.
───※ ·LEGACY· ※───
Self-explanatory?
Please specify if you would like Lucy as the new Fifth Year MC.
───※ ·A SHORT HISTORY· ※───
Lucy was once a devoted Catholic, Holy Cross draped over her neck and all. She grew up as the eldest muggle-born daughter of three sisters and two brothers, assuming many domestic duties typically expected of her time. To break out of poverty, her father arranged for her from the age of seven to be betrothed to the son of a wealthy Portuguese merchant. Life was simply predictable and perfectly planned out, or so she thought.
Unfortunately or fortunately, the discovery of her abilities as a witch became a conflict of interest.
While she was eager to attend Hogwarts, she didn’t realize how difficult it would be to part from her mother, who struggles to raise her non-magical siblings when her father walks out. She also struggles to maintain her engagement. In an effort to balance it all, she ends up resorting to using Obliviate on her family members during a heated altercation. She inevitably loses the young man she formerly considered as her “First and For-ever Love”. She got kicked out of Ravenclaw’s Quidditch team by her Fourth Year and is currently at risk of expulsion from Hogwarts.
Sometimes she wonders if it would be easier if she just drops out of Hogwarts to retreat to the countryside as a nun, but through her education and potential as a witch, she is drawn to learning more of how she can lead a more independent and fulfilling life. Who knew Gringotts Bank needed people to break curses to bring gold to the vaults! Who knew a dedicated team is required to scout the muggle world, to erase a muggle’s memories of magic and its existence in honour of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy! Who knew Unspeakables of the Department of Mysteries saved lives by tampering with the laws of time?
Alas, who knows if she’ll complete her Hogwarts education… or if she’ll become distracted by something or someone else, and ultimately lose her chance to be properly trained as a witch.

Do not Let Conception Become Your Idol
New Post has been published on https://www.ourlittledinosaur.com/dont-let-conception-become-your-idol/
Do not Let Conception Become Your Idol
Disappointment
When my husband and I were wanting to have a baby, we expected that I would become pregnant within a few months. Three years later, we were frustrated and discouraged. I asked a friend of mine to pray. She had struggled for years and then had her miracle baby.
Wisely, she cautioned me, “Don’t let conception become your idol.”
This is something that I really needed to hear as I was letting our plan to have a baby overtake my life. I felt like less of a woman because I wasn’t becoming pregnant and I was resentful of my husband because I was certain he didn’t care as much as me. I know now I was angry with God although I wouldn’t have admitted it at the time. Why wasn’t He letting my husband and I have children?
God’s Grace is Sufficient for Me
We became certain that we just weren’t going to have any children naturally. I had to pray to the LORD daily and say, “My husband is enough for me.”
I realize now the error in this statement, even though it was a step in the right direction, what I should have been saying to God was, “Lord, YOU are enough.”
You see, God’s grace is sufficient in all circumstances.
Remember Jōb
Have you read the story of Jōb in the Bible? It’s fascinating. It makes me sad. It’s humbling, and it provides perspective.
This man literally lost everything. He lost his entire family. He lost all his wealth and possessions. He lost his good health. In all that, he did not dishonor God.
A Story with a Happy Ending
The story has a happy ending (my favorite kind of ending!). Job was blessed again by God with a family and wealth, but far beyond that, he was blessed with salvation. God’s grace was sufficient for him…even when it was the only thing he had.
So whether you are struggling with conception or a trial of a different type, seek God’s will as you remember that it is He who gives us our every breath. Our lives are a gift.
Perspective
One of the lessons I learned because of the time we waited for God to bless us with our son, is that it is God who opens the womb.
Only He can create life. No amount of “trying” on our part was going to do any good without God’s timing. My husband and I didn’t “make a baby”. God made a baby, and He gave us charge over him.
I thank God for our son. I thank Him for entrusting this little person to us and we pray that we will raise him to be a good, kind, and God-fearing man.
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
