ok I see what you’re doing here, xavier
/
this thought hit me as I was yet again staring into space thinking about xavier’s very specific gap moe
I realized this gap started after the myth story — he was plenty competent and in control during that time, but then in the current timeline he suddenly has these very adorable klutzy moments
I mean it’s very cute ofc I love xavier even if he bombed the oven in the egg tart story but it made me think—
how does a man proven to be very intelligent fail so badly at silly things
so I reread the myth and saw this scene
and suddenly it all made sense
/
ALWAYS REMEMBER XAVIER KNOWS WHAT HE’S DOING THIS MAN IS BAITING US ON PURPOSE
but it’s ok bait me more pls i love you

Thinking about building regulations on coruscant (do not do this)(there is something wrong with me)
and like, ok, so there has to be a level of straight up 'you literally cannot bribe someone enough to let you [build like this]', if only because the industrial scale disaster of one of those one squillion story high buildings coming down and taking out like. So Many fancy rich people and also more poors than god, and also fucking up the traffic for a whole planet makes it like...y'know? historically there 100% were Incidents, at this point probably there's enough regulations that you can't get away with Structurally Unsound (like will collapse) building, at all.
BUT! that is really only a baby limit. if it won't collapse and kill a medium planet level of people, you're good to go if you grease the right palms.
Secret rooms that aren't on the plans? pah, please, try whole ass levels and wings of the building. Private hoverlift listed as a 'maintenance duct'? private fucking speeder landing pad (for 12 speeders) listed as a decorative window topper. Zoned for light industrial only? go down a couple levels, and guess what, full scale steelworks is light industrial if you put in a couple of filters!
but also, like, and I'm thinking here specifically of the walkie scorchie and other buildings like that, how many buildings on coruscant are like. technically sound, but also just straight up vaporise you if you walk past them at the wrong time of year. or make you into paste if the wind blows wrong. Star wars doesn't believe in guard rails, except coruscant, because the number of rich people getting literally blown off the side of a level and into the center of a planet was getting too high.

It’s the little things. That’s what I’ll treasure the most.
This one goes out to all my fellow ‘responsible’ captains. We tried our best boys. The EMOTION I felt when we got our funky little coffee cup and little pep talks from the crew,,,, hell yeah dude. Cheers to our new planet.
Brushes:
- For all painting/sketching/writing I used the Jingsketch sketch round (it’s free! <3 like iswm)
- The black backgrounds were a default watercolor brush!
april 4th 2023 edit: one year later and… oh god. revisiting this is both painful and weirdly validating as an artist—on one hand it is objectively so much worse than the new one. on the other, it’s weirdly motivating as evidence of my progress.)

mc, what have you done
/
once again I return to spending my time thinking about why xavier does the things he does
one of the consistent things about him is that he does things / tries new things out / buys things as long as mc even gives a hint that it will make her happy, because that’s just how much he loves her
and now I ask myself, why is he so obsessed with the kitchen, where did this desire to cook even begin
aaand I think found it
now we don’t know the chronological timeline of any of the tender moments but after re-listening I am convinced (until proven otherwise) that this is the starting point of xavier’s destructive kitchen journey
the thing is, after he says this, mc doesn’t make a comment about his kitchen skills at all… which I interpreted as — maybe she doesn’t know yet?
but now that she’s planted the idea in his head… well… she’s about to find out hahaha 😂

with the year coming to a close, i hope that anyone who's reflecting about how the year went remembers to be kind and fair to themselves with how you evaluate the year as a whole.
i think there are definitely times when life throws things that are... Not So Great at you. whether if it's some external circumstance that surprised you, or maybe your mentality wasn't at it's best. i wish for anyone who's encountered those kinds of challenges to be able to triumph over them and be able to say that they got through it.
heck, it might still be a work in progress even though you've kept chipping away at it, and that's ok! the results will show themselves eventually as you work through it! and i hope that we can all remember to be patient with ourselves as we go through these processes (learning, healing, etc.), because damn, it can be frustrating when you feel like you're "not there yet."
knowing that life can be rough at times, i think it's unfair to yourself (and others) to discount and downplay any progress you've made this year- whether if it's something that you did for the first time, or maybe you came to a new understanding and insight that you didn't have in the previous year.
it's not to say that you should undermine the validity of your experience with hardship, but to take the time to remind yourself what makes life worth living. to recall what moments were the most satisfying to you- and use it to strengthen your resolve for the next year and beyond. no amount of hardship will ever take away from the fact that you deserve to have hope that things will get better.
i hope that looking back on the year, you don't leave out the things you cherish. that you can remember the good that came this year. whether if the small victories are things like meeting someone new, trying something out for the first time, or making some strides in a long-term project/obligation...!
i wish everyone a happy new year! may it be prosperous, and that your life can move in a direction that's close to what you want out of life. you're all going to do great! remember to congratulate yourself for what you did well! despite everything, you're still here, and that's wonderful. never forget that!
