Caring for your Pokemon: Pawmot Line
Getting into some newer Pokemon, it's Pawmot! Since I have Pads traveling with me (very interesting way that he evolved, even I was surprised) I am able to study the line closely.
Pawmi are very tiny Pokemon, only being 1'00" in height, so be careful when you're walking places as you might not be paying attention to where you're going (when you have a Joltik that you take care of, I thankfully wasn't too worried.) I would advise carrying it on your shoulder as it makes travel easier for everyone, but be careful of the electricity, you could get shocked accidentally and while not harmful, does hurt. They're learning how to control their electricity so please do be kind to them.
Pawmo has a little bit more control in their electricity, and can use some fighting skills to boot, throwing punches and then shocking afterwards, a very interesting strategy. They rush headlong into battle and don't make the best choices when doing so, so I advise working on battle tactics with other fighting types such as Gallade or Toxicroak, depending on how you want the fighting style to be.
Now Pawmot is MUCH bigger than it's pre-evolutions, so no more carrying it on your shoulder unless you want to have constant back pain. Getting your Pawmot to stop wanting to be carried is difficult work, and they certainly will be grumpy with you, but it let's them be more independent (I advise starting in the Pawmo stage for better results.) As for battle, they are much faster and stronger than before, and can deliver lighting fast punches in a matter of seconds. Notice what fighting styles they have learned, and attempt to enhance them, as well as work on weaknesses. With this, you will have a close bond with your partner Pokemon.
Whew! That's a lot! With another electric type it makes me miss Fuzzbutt, though I hear I should be able to grab him soon. I do miss the little guy, and he'll have a new friend to be with.

#921.5 - Pawmi are cautious Pokemon that live in forests and meadows. In addition to underdeveloped electric sacs on their cheeks, Pawmi have electricity-discharging organs on their forepaws that they can use to defend themselves. They will first generate electricity by rubbing their cheeks, then shock opponents by touching them with the pads on their forepaws. Though they are unsteady while standing on their hind legs, as these Pokemon age they become competent and agile on their feet.
#922.5 - Pawmo live in groups, where they roam large distances and find safety in numbers and the ability to look after each other. Pawmo are quick to leap into battle, facing and defeating enemies with a unique fighting technique that utilizes both physical strikes and electric zaps from their forepaws. Their thick fur not only keeps them warm, it is also a good insulator and acts as a battery, storing excess electricity to be released at another time. Though they have a slow reaction speed as full-grown Pawmot, these Pokemon are able to attack opponents with fast movements when battling. Pawmo must be exercised regularly outside of their Pokeball in order to evolve into Pawmot.
Named: Pawmi - Pawme - Pawmo - Pawmel - Pawmot

Pawmi, Pawmo and Pawmot
Tumblr media
Pawmi | Electric Scarlet: It has underdeveloped electric sacs on its cheeks. These sacs can produce electricity only if Pawmi rubs them furiously with the pads on its forepaws. Violet: The pads of its paws are electricity-discharging organs. Pawmi fires electricity from its forepaws while standing unsteadily on its hind legs.
Tumblr media
Pawmo | Electric/Fighting Scarlet: When its group is attacked, Pawmo is the first to leap into battle, defeating enemies with a fighting technique that utilizes electric shocks. Violet: Pawmo uses a unique fighting technique in which it uses its forepaws to strike foes and zap them with electricity from its paw pads simultaneously.
Tumblr media
Pawmot | Electric/Fighting Scarlet: This Pokémon normally is slow to react, but once it enters battle, it will strike down its enemies with lightning-fast movements. Violet: Pawmot's fluffy fur acts as a battery. It can store the same amount of electricity as an electric car.

Oh, don’t be sorry! I’m always happy to help out with things to do with the Pokedex!
For your research, the info is under the cut :)
Pawmi (National No.0921, Electric, Mouse Pokemon, Height: ~0.3m, Avr. Weight: 2.5kg, Local Dex No.0022) The pads of its paws are electricity-discharging organs. Pawmi fires electricity from its forepaws while standing unsteadily on its hind legs. It also has undeveloped electric sacs on its cheeks. These sacs can produce electricity only if Pawmi rubs them furiously with the pads of its forepaws.
Pawmo (Dual Electric-fighting, National No.0922, avr. height 0.4m, avr weight 6.5kg, Local Dex no 0023) Pawmo have a unique and special battling technique in which they strike foes and zap them with electricity from its paw pads. They are the first to leap into battle if a pack is threatened.

Oh look, more new pokemon opinions. 44-53
Frigibax
The Ice Fin Pokemon, a dragon/ice dual-type which is nice to see, I just have no idea what it’s supposed to be. At first look it looks like somebody tried to cross a frog and a koala. Fingers crossed the pokedex will be informative there. Until then, it has the new ability Thermal Exchange that makes it immune to burn and raises it’s attack when hit with a fire move. Apparently they live in forests and craggy areas, absorbing heat and then converting that heat into cold that it uses to chill it’s nest.
4/10, I have no idea what this it besides an air conditioner
Arctibax
Okay, at least this fucker looks like something. I sailfin dinosaur I guess? Or maybe one of those fuckers from before the dinosaurs, I know the name but damned it I can remember it off the top of my head. Don’t care, bitches look like something now. They freeze the air around them into an ice mask for their face and to turn their back fin into an ice blade, which they attack with by doing a front flip.
5/10, I have an idea what it is now, still not impressed
Baxcalibur
The Ice Dragon Pokemon that wants to be Godzilla. Seriously, it looks like a knock-off ice Godzilla pared way the fuck down. Again, maybe the 3d model is better, but this isn’t doing it for me. It launches itself into battle by flipping upside down and blasting freezing air at the enemy. Finishes them off with it’s dorsal blade, probably with another flip.
4/10, I know what it is now and it’s lost points for it
~
Tatsugiri
The Mimicry Pokemon, water/dragon dual type (never gonna complain about more of them). It looks like something you’d see in Putt-Putt, and I mean that in the most loving way. Comes in three color variations as well. New ability- Commander: goes into Dondozo’s mouth, can no longer take dmamage, Dondozo can no longer switch out, Dondozo’s stats go up two stages. Well that’s not too fucking broken. Apparently the forms change depending on where they were caught and are as follows- Curly Form: described by the pokedex as living inside Dondozo’s mouth to protect itself, also extremely cunning, it feigns weakness to lure in prey. Droopy Form: pokedex explains that the different forms are to better attract different prey, also that it plays dead to attract prey and uses it’s intelligence to survive despite being small and weak. Stretchy Form: Tatsugiri is, according to this one’s dex entries, one of the smartest dragon pokemon, this one hunts bird pokemon with it’s Dondozo partner and inflates it’s throat sac to lure then in.
8/10, not the best dragon ever, but certainly delightful in its own way
~
Cyclizar
Everyone knows this one by now. It’s a dragon, it’s a motorcycle, it’s a friend. Precious thing and the best dragon of this gen so far in these reviews. They’re depicted in 10k year old murals letting people ride them, can reach 70 mph, and enjoy the warmth human riders give off. It’s a mutual relationship.
9/10, good lizard
~
Pawmi
“Achi! Look! An electric type!” To which I can only say... eh? Not really impressed. I mean, look at the competition! Bellibolt exists! And Pawmi... tries, bless it’s little heart. It’s an electric type and so I give it more benefit that I would otherwise, but it’s not doing it for me. The sacs on it’s cheeks are underdeveloped and it needs to rub them to get them to generate power, the pads of it’s paws, meanwhile, can also generate power but to use it they have to stand up on their hind legs and they’re not good at it.
6/10, a serviceable electric type
Pawmo
Electric/fighting now, nice combo, it’s gotten lighter and can stand on it’s hind legs now. They defend their groups with attacks that combine hand strikes with zaps of electricity... Okay, they learn Thunder Punch, I’d have had to kill somebody.
6/10, still serviceable
Pawmot
The Hands-On Pokemon. Once a Pawmo walks 100 steps in the overworld they evolve, get darker, and get scruffy looking. Or maybe just fluffy looking. It’s fur can store as much power as an electric car, and while they’re slow to reach they’re lightning fast.
7/10, a bit better
~
Wattrel
We have a flying type, this is not a drill! And it’s an electric type too! The Storm Petrel Pokemon, with the new ability Wind Power- getting hit with a wind move boosts the power of it’s next electric attack. It looks, like a bird, bit of blue-grey, bit of black, bit of yellow. Makes me think a little of batteries and a lot of seagulls for something that’s not a seagull. These pokemon’s bones generate electricity while they coast along on the wind, then they use it to stun their prey while they dive into the water for them. Their nests are built on cliffs, have a crackly texture, and are- you guessed it- fucking eaten. This region, man.
6.5/10, it’s a good bird
Kilowattrel
Oh, this fucker looks cool. Darker colors, a more defined shape, the Frigatebird Pokemon is definitely an upgrade. A poor swimmer, it stores the electricity it’s wings generate in it’s throat sac. It can cover over 430 miles in a day.
8/10, better bird
~~~
Can’t have too many electric types, you really can’t
One of my biggest pet peeves of Pokémon as of late is people complaining that Pokémon with simple designs are boring or "lazy".
Eiscue is one of my favourite Gen 8 Pokémon but I keep reading comments that call it a shit Pokémon because "iT's JuSt A pEnGuIn". Actually, I've heard the "iT's JuSt A *insert animal here*" argument for lots of newer Pokémon.
I think that Pawmi and it's evolutions are getting hit with this pretty bad. It's probably one of the most interesting Pikachu clones. It's a three stage evolution for the first time since Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu and unless I'm forgetting anything it's the only Electric/Fighting Type. It's signature move is based on a visual gag about it using the electric pads on its paws as a defibrillator.
And yet the ONLY thing anyone ever says about them is how "lazily designed" they are, how "It's just Pawmi getting bigger" how Pawmo is the most useless middle stage evolution because "It'S jUsT pAwMi StAnDiNg Up-" (It's not, Pawmo looks different than Pawmi, it's a lighter shade of orange, it has a different tail shake, more fingers, it has a different body shape and the cream on its paws now has a bumpy pattern)
Like, holy shit, I said this before a long time ago but not every Pokémon has to have spikes, frills, patterns, stripes etc to have a good design. Having a Pokémon that's just simple and cute is perfectly fine.
Tumblr media
(This video also says that Tandemaus and Dudunsparce are lazy designs)
(Side tangent, I once got downvoted to hell for arguing that Shiny Pawmot wasn't "dull red". It's very much a pink shiny. I even included photographic evidence (image below) that it's pink and I still got people downvoting me and saying that I was wrong. I'm wondering why people were so against it being pink)
Tumblr media
It's either too lazy or too complicated for people. Thankfully others are usually quick to counter the argument with pointing out that Gen 1 gave us a purple rat and two Pokeballs that people are okay with, but they're not okay with the ice cube penguin or the flamingo?
That's mostly why I haven't bothered ranting about those people- others do it anyway. The one exception is when people said that the new legendaries "looks like Digimon" because they are just factually wrong about that. Unless they're talking about the early Digimon's first stages they are just wrong.
I'm not into Digimon but I was commissioned to make a bunch of Digimon into fourth gen Pokemon-styled sprites and turning safe search on didn't help very much. I'm not so sure Digimon was actually made with children in mind.
What Pokémon do you have on your team since machamp joltik and smeargle aren’t there?
Oh god I miss the others...poor Gregory, he's never been away from me for so long...
Ahem, anyway.
Right now I have Sean of course, then I brought in Mocks the Mimikyu as it is able to use Mimic, then some new ones include Pads the Pawmot as my new source of slowing down Pokemon for me to research and defend me if need be, and then Legs the Toedscool in order to hold down Pokemon for medical research or if I need samples.
I have a few new research subjects as well, Legs being one of them in the whole Covergent species with Tentacool (now I have to capture one) and I am looking into terastalizing, but I need to find the right Pokemon for it first. More research subjects to come as well.
