I barely ever see a new face. And, like, when there’s opportunities to talk about pals with prompts that are dropped in pal discussion or otherwise, I do not ever really see new people biting. Maybe I’m not active enough to see every interaction, 24/7, I don’t want to discredit anyone’s experiences but I’m not going to discredit mine either of barely ever seeing anyone else there.

Every time I see that word and then look in the server, it’s the group of active members that’ve become aquatinted as friends. Cliques are people who do not allow other people to participate or join in on the mutual activity or group or whatever. I do not ever see the active current group being THAT hostile. Idk, if anyone can prove me otherwise then by all means share a screenshot but until then I wish I knew what you were talking about anon.

"i'm choosing to invoke a one entry per franchise rule on myself, mostly because otherwise the list would all be scream movies."

"so, scream — the first one that's just titled scream. i love the second one, but i think that the first one was a lot more metamorphosizing, and not just for me personally, but for the entire landscape of horror movies and for the average viewer's understanding of what they really were at the time. my second pick is definitely heathers. might seem off brand for me at first glance if you're not familiar with the movie, but if you are familiar with the movie then i'm sure you get it. the writing style of heathers is definitely an inspiration for me when i'm working on my own stories. halloween ii — the first one, not the rob zombie version — might seem like a weird pick because the original is obviously a classic and it's one of the first slashers that most people see, but i think something definitely got all swished around up in my brain when i noticed that the scene in halloween ii where laurie is crawling towards the hospital and realizes that she can't scream for help gets an homage in the first scream movie when casey realizes she can't scream for help and then that scene gets an homage in scream 2022 at the beginning with tara, and that's not even the only back and forth that the scream and halloween franchises have had with each other because not only are they watching halloween at the party in the original scream, but in h20 there's a scene where two of the characters are watching scream 2, and of course halloween gets namedropped in scream 2022, so in my head john carpenter and wes admired each other and they were communicating through their art, and so look does anyone know john carpenter because i really need to speak with him ? anyway, texas chainsaw massacre is another movie that didn't just change me, but changed the entire landscape of horror. it's basically the original slasher, you know ? and i consider what shifts horror in general to also change me as a person because as a writer of the genre, i feel like i'm connected to it. significant shifts in the genre are tangible to me and i feel like they affect me and this brain that i've got rattling around in my skull, you know ? so, something like the introduction of the standard modern day slasher archetype is definitely significant enough to make the list. my last pick has gotta be 1931's frankenstein. watching a boris karloff performance will change your enitre life. trust me. and you've gotta love mary shelley, you know ? queen and mother of science fiction. and i'm gonna break my own rule the tiniest bit and give an honorable mention to scream 2022. you know, for wes."

Based on the following character descriptions, tell me which of my PCs you think has actual experience with vampires prior to meeting a certain pale twink.

Hel, a grave cleric of Kelemvor, sworn to uphold the balance between life and death.

Valas, a 100+ year old researcher who is determined to learn all that he can about the world.

Aurelia, a local hero for her monster-hunting ways who might be of partial G*r descent.

Sybelle, a 20 year old archival worker who has spent pretty much her entire life in seclusion in an archive in Athk*tla.

Per a thread with Ax, Sybelle says that there is an entire coven in the second sub-basement of the Archives she was sworn to.

They masquerade as research assistants if caught, but never have the right uniforms or paperwork, and keep swearing they're on an errand for the last head archivist -- who died decades before Sybelle's parents were even born.

The Coven and the Archivists seem to be in a mutually beneficial relationship where the largely neutral mortals keep the location and activities of the Coven secret, and the always evil Vampires repay their 'pets' with security against outside threats and a chance to pick their brains for further information on historical research. Given the discretion of the Archivists, the complete lack of sunlight in the sub-basement, and the fact the Archive is open 24/7 to the public, it seems to be a cherry deal for more lawful Vampires who either abide guest rules despite their evil nature, and even those of contrary alignments seem to have agreed not to 'shit where they eat' and give away their daylight hiding place.

Sybelle actually namedrops using a Vampire by name of Villius the Widowmaker from N*verwinter to help her with a school paper when she was a child.

Would you know him?: As a philosopher, his major breakthrough was a paper entitled Cold Equations: Moral Frameworks in the Modern Era, a particularly scathing takedown of utilitarianism based on the presupposition that the moral calculus necessary for utilitarianism is now impossible in an era where a single person’s actions inexorably impact every person outside of them. This leaves ethical intuitionism as the only viable moral framework left. He’s written for a few other academic journals and makes regular appearances at academic conferences across Japan. He’s made implications that he wants to make a book but has so far done zero effort into tracking down a publisher and the transcript that is allegedly “mostly done” has yet to manifest.

His family was involved in a major lawsuit against a company called Solaris Biomedical in regards to a treatment for neurodegenerative illnesses that they claimed would stop the onset of neuron damage. While their claim was that it actually accelerated the process, they were determined to have inconclusive evidence and the civil suit was ruled in Solaris’s favor. The case garnered some attention amongst anti-corporate activists and got some news coverage before slipping beneath the undertow of the 24-hour news cycle.

First Impressions: Though personable and extroverted, it doesn’t take long before Haruto’s arrogance starts to come out. His primary impulse is trying to show he’s the smartest person in the room, meaning he’s prone to namedropping abstract academic concepts in the hopes someone will ask about them so he can show off how he knows. He manages to be somewhat smooth about it but it’s still a bit obnoxious, especially if you’re socially aware enough to tell what he’s doing.

Notes: His name is spelled with the kanji for “peace,” “grove,” “sun,” and “soaring” in that order!

His saint medallion is of Saint Catherine, the patron saint of philosophers.

He uses the personal pronoun of “oidon,” which is a...very rare personal pronoun characteristic of the Kyushu dialect! My research indicates this is basically completely out of use but like, we’ve got someone who uses “sesshou” and “shoukan” so weird ones are just back in fashion after World War III I guess.

He has a very pronounced Nagasaki-ben accent. Like. Painfully so. He is comprehensible but he cannot pretend to be anything other than someone from Kyushu.

There’s a whole dialogue I could have here about how this discussion serves a purpose to relate these ideas to the concepts of “beauty” and “fashion” specifically for the context of what goes on later in Iselma, but I think there is Some (but not all) truth to what he’s saying. 

However, it should always be known that... in terms of capitalism, the ideas of what is beautiful or fashionable will always have that lense overtop of it. If somebody desires to exploit you, they will tell you something is fashionable, that it will make you beautiful, and then sell you the product. 

I agree with his statements about beauty in mathematics. It is VERY well known that mathematical patterns that are found in nature and in artwork/architecture are extremely pleasing to view, that they satisfy a sort of unconscious desire perhaps - the easiest one to cite is the idea of the Rule of Thirds in composition. 

Some shots look “awkward” when they don’t follow these mathematical principles. Why is that? When we see things all lined up and well-composed according to the Rule of Thirds, we have some sort of unconscious need fulfilled and the shot no longer becomes awkward. Similarly to this idea, in film, there’s the invisible line - a 180 degree line that should not be crossed over when filming dialogue scenes because it makes it awkward. While this isn’t because of an outright mathematical concept, we have the ability to look at certain shots/movements and say this is “wrong” or this is “awkward” if it isn’t orderly. It is easy to look at an abstract and say “this is wrong, this is not beautiful”. 

But the opposite is also extreeeemely true. That the abstract and those that we can’t neatly sort into order is also beautiful. I’m digressing though. 

Waver here introduces three ideas: 

One way of looking at “what is beauty” is that it is mathematical. Mathematical beauty tends to be consistently recognizable. We find it beautiful when things are orderly. 

Ideas of what is “beauty” that change over time are called “fashion”.

In Modern Magecraft, “fashion” is something that is linked to a collective unconsciousness. 

He namedrops this collective unconsciousness as similar to the idea of “ Ālayavijñāna”, or, in Japanese (for those familiar with Kara no Kyoukai) the arayashiki. It’s the “base consciousness” that all other forms of consciousness originate from. 

He then states that our tastes in what is “beautiful” are not something as simple as likes/dislikes, and that they’re shaped and influenced by our environment. 

Here he then goes into how beauty is involved in the development of religion, saying that religions become popular because their ideas are considered “beautiful” by people. 

THIS is where I highly disagree because the spread of religion simply being chalked up to “people found the ideas relatable and thus they were considered beautiful” is an incredibly un-nuanced take. Thanks Waver 

If I were going to discuss what fashion is, I would probably do so from a different standpoint. 

As I said before under a capitalistic lense, fashion is inextricable from somebody attempting to make a profit. But the other thing is that fashion trends and the ideas of what is/isn’t beautiful tend to have an origin. It’s a simple process. 

Someone does something new and original, or provides a new outlook on something in the past (As Waver said, classics will get revisited sometimes). Others begin to appreciate this new outlook, and copy it, this repeats until eventually it becomes a norm or it loses its original spark. In the same way that people eventually get tired of eating the same food over and over, fashions tend to have cycles. 

Much of the ideas that originate newly in “fashion” tend to be things that bring a new emphasis to a part. The concept of “memes” in its original form is also relatable to this. Changing ideas of “what is pleasing” influenced by these cycles can be more easily related to clothing trends than anything else if you want to strictly speak. 

BUT. 

Waver relates it to religion explicitly because in this novel we have to understand religion as it ties in to beauty. More specifically broad ideas that are carried from different religions and cultures to others ones. 

IF he wanted to be able to express this sentiment, we could discuss how certain aspects of Mesopotamian religion were brought over to Hellenic religion, or how some of Egyptian religion shares traits with Christian religions as well - one thing that’s shared of each of these religions is the “death-and-rebirth/resurrection deity” as evidenced by Tammuz (Mesopotamian), Osiris (Egyptian), Dionysus (Hellenic) and of course, Jesus (Christian). 

You need to be able to understand the synergy between these ideas per religion to understand certain ideas that Waver introduces later on. More specifically that religions have shared aspects of mythos and legend that are spread throughout and maintain their general frame despite changing to suit the culture it is adapted into. Ishtar/Aphrodite/Venus and ideas spawning from “Venus” as a concept thereon is the biggest one you’ll need, explicitly because we are discussing beauty in magecraft and in culture and society and as an idea.

Rule of Five and Astaroth

*McDonald's voice* Can I get a number five theory with demöns?

I've been wanting to make a post about this for a While So Here We Go:

Asta and Liebe's lives are very much connected to the number 5.

Five leaf clover grimoire, Fifth of October were found, five scars and all that. At the age of 5 or so, children awaken their magic. At 15, they get a grimoire.

The number five is pretty relevant to both of them, as its likely a number of meaning to Asta specifically.

And I feel like this is gonna be even more obvious in the later climax of the Qlipoth Arc.

Now, about Asta's devil union form that has me BUGGING:

Where the fuck did the second horns/additional markings come from??? And whats with the crosses??? Is Asta some antichrist???

So then it hit me, that Asta's parentage isn't so much as "Asta has demon parentage/is half demon" so much as "Asta has a demon ancestry/ancestors used to mess with demons". It would make more sense that way.

With Licita never actually stating that she was cursed, simply that she has a body that steals mana and life force from around her. Plus, being cursed wouldn't actually be enough to throw someone out of the village entirely, but being related/descended from a demon (seeing as how the villagers knew what a devil looked like) might. It would also explain why Licita was so used to the idea of demons or superstitions about them: she has one as an ancestor. And maybe at some point down the line the genes either went dormant/became too thin to actually show any traits.

I'm going with the dormant option because Asta and Liebe's devil union would essentially awaken the dormant genes, but only while in Union form as a way of exposure.

It would also make sense as to how Asta survived while being in contact with Licita when he was born. Licita was probably under the assumption that, since the cursed body took Asta's mana as a baby, it would take his life too. But it wouldn't because Asta's life force isn't completely human, so while he would have ended up being a sickly child, he wouldn't be dead per se.

Its a different take from the half demon theory but its also something that Tabata would pull in his reverse trope habit.

As for Astaroth, someone on twitter shared this handy pic:

Which shows an approximate show of which demon goes first and who goes last. The order and the Qlipoth positions are actually reversed, so we'd get something like this:

Which is a little approximate and not sure if it goes this way, but there's a strong possibility that Astaroth would be the fifth demon to bust out.

With Asta's name being up to several meanings, some that come up is meaning the word "to love" from Nordic (connected to Licita who named Liebe "love" in German), "great strength" (his main ability), "star-like" (his personality) and a literal exerpt from the name Astaroth (this fucking bitch).

With Astaroth most definitely being part of the Qlipoth, and several namedrops and lore connections which I mentioned here, this bitch would definitely be the type to just leave a bunch of bastardly descendants around for either host material or simply for the shits of it.

I can imagine that, with Morris adding the growth of the Qlipoth, Asta beating the ancient demon and having to take time to get to spade on its own and maybe even cutting down the second ancient demon, we can approximately predict that he'll readily arrive in the battlefield when the 4th/5th gate opens to raise the stakes.

So I'm assuming that Astaroth is gonna see this gremlin with a parody of his face cutting up his coworkers and think "Ah shit, the descendants survived. Welp, I wanna retire after this either way, so time to pick up an heir."

The reason for this is that Astaroth is also gonna be the 5th "demon" Asta fights (Zagred>> Dante>> Nacht>> Ancient Twin Demon>> Astaroth) in this arc as well.

With the number 5 playing into the likely fight against Astaroth, I'm assuming that either Astaroths death gives Asta some form of hint or bonus to defeat Lucifero: either a weakness of his or a new sword.

Like a Fifth Sword.

My theory is that Asta's fifth sword is gonna be a sword from the Underworld, likely one that had been under Astaroths possession, and the one with which he'll be able to completely defeat Lucifero with. Because a sword that was made in the Underworld will absolutely mirror the effects of the host in the human realm to the devil in the origin world.

Its also a numeric symbol, with each of the swords from Licht representing the three leaf Clover (faith, hope, love) and Yami's would represent luck (either they were lucky to beat Dante or unlucky that Zenon came in the last minute). With that being in mind, the fifth "leaf" or sword in this case would definitely be a demon sword.

People have also speculated that Asta and Liebe's Devil Union form looking unfinished or yet to grow fully, so maybe Astaroths death would give/develop The form to full maturity in a way.

But that's just my crackhead two cents.

Most brand names vaguer rather than namedropped. It’s kind of weird to take this stance when the entire fic is based around an intellectual property that exists irl, but I think it’s funnier if the reader has to figure out the reference for themselves rather than being spoonfed the joke. It’s also really weird for me to read the phrase “Martha Stewert” in an AA fic idk

Apollo’s sentiments softened; sometimes his inner dialogue and actions were so mean-spirited, I found it hard to root for him. I tried to give him more nuance where I could. He’s supposed to be very angry and thorny, and the entire plot is about him learning to unwind, but there’s a difference between being a likable jerk and just being a jerk.

The Worm Reads: Kingdom of Ash, Excerpt

I’m sick of The Assassin’s Blade and I just saw the news that SJM released some Kingdom of Ass content, so I’m gonna review the new excerpt just for you guys. Let’s fucking do this, SJM.

The Prince

This is the title to the... prologue of K0A, I assume? It’s sad that I had to pause and think of who this was referring to considering almost every main character in T0G is royalty.

He had been hunting for her since the moment she was taken from him. His mate.

Yay, if it isn’t our beloved Rowboat! /s

Also love how ~his mate~ is supposed to be all dramatic and omg so epic11 but like, it’s such a dumb fucking word to use for romantic partners. “His wife” would work so much better and wouldn’t sound as stupid as his mate.

He barely remembered his own name. And only recalled it because his three companions spoke it while they searched for her across violent and dark seas, through ancient and slumbering forests, over storm-swept mountains already buried in snow.

1. Why can’t he remember his own name? Is he suffering short term memory loss?

2. Who the fuck are his three companions? I assume it’ll be explained in the novel, but if you’re releasing an excerpt for people to read and get hyped to buy the full novel, you can’t leave us confused and unclear. At least just namedrop them or give us some indication as to who they are.

3. Holy dramatic prose, Batman! Yeah yeah I know SJM is trying to show us what lengths Rowboat is going to in an attempt to find his wife fuck you I’m not saying mate but this is so melodramatic and reeks of shitty prose.

He stopped long enough to feed his body and allow his companions a few hours of sleep. Were it not for them, he would have flown off, soared far and wide.

Please do. In fact, soar so far away you never fucking come back.

But he would need the strength of their blades and magic, would need their cunning and wisdom before this was through. Before he faced the dark queen who had torn into his innermost self, stealing his mate long before she had been locked in an iron coffin.

This writing is sooo bad holy fuck, it’s just confusing and choppy. Also, the dark queen is Maeve... how did she supposedly steal Alien before she locked her into the iron coffin? I guess it’s just ~2deep4u~ symbolism or some garbage.

So he stayed with his companions, even as the days passed. Then the weeks. Then months. Still he searched. Still he hunted for her on every dusty and forgotten road.

I hope to god this doesn’t imply a huge time skip between E0S and K0A. The world is trapped in a war rn, you can’t be cutting away from this shit, SJM! A lot can happen in war in a few months especially if a major player such as Alien has vanished from the main roster!

And sometimes, he spoke along the bond between them, sending his soul on the wind to wherever she was held captive, entombed. I will find you.

Remember how in E0S, that “nameless is my price” quote was repeated literally hundreds of times because SJM thinks shoehorning in a quote again and again makes it meaningful? I can already tell it’s gonna be like that for “I will find you” in K0A.

The Princess

Second part of the prologue (???) I find it odd that Alien is The Princess now considering all her ass kissers made it very clear in E0S that they considered her a queen.

The iron smothered her. It had snuffed out the fire in her veins, as surely as if the flames had been doused.

This sentence is redundant, as surely as redundant as a sentence could be.

She could hear the water, even in the iron box, even with the iron mask and chains adorning her like ribbons of silk.

This imagery is very odd. I think SJM wants us to picture how painful and tight her chains are, but ribbons of silk makes me think of very soft and comforting textures. If she’s tied up with silk, her torture surely can’t be that bad!

So in case it isn’t obvious, Alien is still trapped in the iron coffin. Nothing happens in this scene per say, it’s just Alien vomiting up exposition and 2deep4u feelings, so let’s examine what we have.

A sliver of island in the heart of a mist-veiled river, little more than a smooth slab of rock amid the rapids and falls. That’s where they’d put her. Stored her. In a stone temple built for some forgotten god.

So like... what was Maeve’s goal? She just wants Alien to suffer? She’s not trying to torture her for information, use her as hostage or bait for anyone? Is Maeve just going to be a 1 dimensional baddie so we can splooge over how tortured and pained Alien is?

As she would likely be forgotten. It was better than the alternative: to be remembered for her utter failure. If there would be anyone left to remember her. If there would be anyone left at all.

The choppiness of the paragraphs makes me cringe. Doing this once or twice for emphasize is a-okay, it’s one of my favorite writing tools to use, but holy shit not every paragraph!!! Was this book edited?

She would not allow it. That failure. She would not tell them what they wished to know.

So, is them referring to Maeve and her goonies? What is Maeve trying to get out of her? The Wyrdkeys are not brought up at all in this section, so idk what else Maeve would want from Alien?

“But Liv!” I hear you cry. “This is just an excerpt! Surely the final book will hold all the answers!”

Well, my friend my pal my home slice bread slice dawg, for one you have waaaaay too much confidence in SJM. For another, this excerpt was deliberately chosen to serve as a preview for the novel to get readers invested. We should be intrigued by what secrets the books have to offer, not blatantly given shit out of context that makes literally no sense and hurts to read.

Also also, if she’s bleeding that much, how the fuck is she not dead? Immortal Fae queen yeah yeah whatever, but the Fae still bleed and can die from blood loss, as Rowboat clearly showed when he was shot in Q0S. Unless Maeve is regularly taking Alien out of her iron coffin to heal her wounds, Alien should be dead by now. This is such bullshit.

A princess who was to live for a thousand years. Longer. That had been her gift. It was now her curse.

That last bit is about us. We’re the ones who have to suffer the no doubt countless sequels that will be written to milk this franchise dry.

She wondered if that goddess of light and flame even cared that she now lay trapped within the iron box - or if the immortal had transferred her attentions to another. To the king who might offer himself in her stead and in yielding his life, spare their world.

Who is this king guy she’s thinking of? Dorito? Can’t be Rowboat, he’s a prince and even if Alien pulled some last minute bullshit by marrying him, that doesn’t make Rowboat a king. He’d still be a prince since Alien is the ruling head of the kingdom.

The gods did not care who paid the debt. So she knew they would not come for her, save her. So she did not bother praying to them.

It’s me. I’m the gods. It’s a metaphor, you see, because I wouldn’t give Alien the dirt off the bottom of my shoe.

Down she would drift, deep into that darkness, into the sea of flame. Down so deep that when the whip cracked, when bone sundered, she sometimes did not feel it. Most times she did.

Ask me if I give a fuck. Also if iron resists magic, how come Alien can reach into her well of magic in the coffin, hmmm? Why doesn’t she shit out a firestorm to escape?

It was during those infinite hours that she would fix her stare on her companion. Not the queen’s hunter, who could draw out pain like a musician coaxing a melody from an instrument. But the massive white wolf, chained by invisible bonds. Forced to witness this.

Massive white wolf? Who is this referring to? Is it... Fenrys? Tbh I forget what happened to him so it may very well be.

A prince of ice and wind. A prince who had been hers, and she his. Long before the bond between their souls became known to them.

Weeks ago I might have been beyond pissed because Dorito was the prince of ice, but now they’re both fuckbois who I would gleefully watch die slow and painful deaths.

The dark queen with a spider’s smile tried to wield it against her.

SJM actually doesn’t know how words work. I cannot call her a writer anymore; she just bashes her forehead against the keyboard and publishes it, claiming it to be fantasy.

Latveria, various points in history: Hel has alluded in interactions with Kleffy’s Doom and Dev’s Tsura that she has been in the country before, when there were ‘far more stars.’ It appears to be a favorite location on Midgard for the queen, as she has familiarized herself quite well with the landscape and society as it has developed over the centuries. She’s namedropped various historical figures with some level of amity, which further implies a close relationship with the land and its people throughout her own rule over Helheim.

Mainland Europe, WW2: Hel, then under the alias of Leah Ironwood, led an Allied unit that fought to secure mystical objects that the enemy had their eyes on. While in the MCU she failed to keep the Tesseract from falling into Schmidt’s custody, she otherwise led many successful campaigns to reclaim or protect ancient artifacts from Axis hands. It was also during this time that Hel met Ran’s Erik Lensherr, whom she would continue to touch base with throughout the coming decades. This is one alias that is fairly iron-clad, with next to no one connecting Hel to a woman who historically went down as an intelligence agent who faded into obscurity post-war.

United States, post-war: As per writing with Zen’s Peggy Carter, Leah Ironwood later turned up rather anonymously state-side. A last mission to claim an arcane object of fascination led to her running into a certain agent. They had a brief but committed romance, ended only when Hel’s almost decade-long absence from her realm was finally noted by the Allfather. Once again, Leah was able to escape historical or divine notice, with not even Peggy knowing who her lover really was -- no matter how badly Hel wanted to tell her.

United States, 1973: Hel had a thread with the aforementioned Magneto where she visited him during his movie timeline incarceration, the first interaction between them since they met during his childhood almost 30 years before.

Atlantis, unknown period: Hel has made mention of knowing Namor’s mother Fen, and stated informally that she ‘raised (Namor) better.’ This implies that Hel has been acquainted with the royal family during Emperor Thakorr’s rule, during a time when Atlanteans did not travel to the surface. Though I cannot say why she might have been in the kingdom beneath the waves -- besides her own desire to travel -- she apparently came often enough to gain respect for the empire and its shepherds, such that it endures long after Thakorr was succeeded by his grandson.

3 Newbie Trading Mistakes That You Want to Avoid

  What’s going on? Hope you guys been catching this earnings season wave. As I start writing this its towards the end of July and earnings are about to be released.

It looks like SPY is going towards all time highs which is insane, since we’re in a pandemic. 30-something million unemployed N. Americans.  It makes you ask: does economy affect the markets?! God if I know. Anyway, that helps me move on to the next topic. 

  If you’re starting fresh in the stock market, how does one track the movements? Where do you start learning? How much money do you need to start? Although those are good questions, that’s NOT what we’re talking about today(gotcha). Instead we’re talking about three mistakes new traders can avoid.

  Lets face it, the stock market has a steep learning curve in the beginning. Not only does it take awhile to understand the terms, but then you have to understand the charts.

  Quickly here are the three questions I asked myself constantly in the beginning:

How do I trade?

How do I make money?

How much do I buy?

What those question equate to me is:

no trade plan

Not taking profits early or closing losing trades early

Using too much of their account for one trade

  Feel free to comment or share more if you feel there are more mistakes. I know there is plenty more than I’m missing, and I originally had more I wanted to write about. However, with the digital, social media age, I want to keep this article short. Let’s go.

  No Trade Plan

  Ill be the first to admit, a trade plan is hard to come up with in the beginning. In my opinion, find some people that you like in the trading world, such as myself or anyone. Ok, maybe not ANYONE.

Let me namedrop a few that I like personally:

  Optionalpha

 Option trader that beta weights his trades and is mostly an option seller. This is the first person I truly started learning from. His beta weighting is meticulous and he makes different trades that fit in his portfolio. For example, he uses different strategies such as: Calendar spreads, credit spreads, and debit spreads. He has extensive PDF files all over his website, that explain when to enter and exit a trade. I honestly got my foundations for trading from him and his website. A ton of the website is free and I’d recommend checking him out if you have the time.

Tastytrade

The two guys, Tony and Tom, are some the most seasoned vets in the game. Don’t quote me on this, but I think these guys help build ‘ToS’ or ThinkorSwim and then ended up selling it to TDameritrade. Anyway, these guys are option sellers as well, very similar to Optionalpha. Great traders, a ton of material, and go over SO MUCH of the statistics and psychology behind the trading that it’s too much to even talk about. I don’t listen to them as much as I used to, but they’re a recommendation from me as well.

Rob Smith 

#thestrat guru, and I don’t mean the Vegas hotel. Rob Smith uses different time frames to give himself signals as to what the stock is actually doing. He’s a very short term trader that looks for particular setups, such as inside days, outside days, and reversals. He’s a very good trader and has been doing it for quite some time. The style and type of trading he does, you absolutely need a minimum of $25,000 to trade. Since he has very tight stops and gets in and out of trades quickly, you have to be considered a day-trader by your broker.   GYM

Our first dividend investor. I’d like to thank him personally for answering me promptly when I asked him about his trading style. The last time he cut or sold stock was back In January of this year. So, he’s a buy and hold guy that cuts when the stock substantially cuts dividends. A veer off the path that I, myself, would not take. But, it’s interesting to see how there are several different ways to pursue and win in the market.

Thank you again! I’m really appreciative of you answering my emails quickly.

Anyway, Graham is a dividend investor just like the guy above, GYM. He buy and holds for YEARS! And considers selling the stock if dividends are cut. That’s a bit of a difference than how we trade huh? Those are just my personal favorites. Now you know there are so many ways to trade, go out and find some of your own traders and see if you like their style and can emulate.

No Exit Plan

  It’s been proven by option alpha that you have a better probability of success taking profitable trades off early.  With that being said, you have to decide how much you want to make per trade. Or, what price do you plan to exit if the stock goes the way you want. What about the opposite? Do you have a stop-loss? Always first,You need to decide how you want to trade. If you’re going to be a long-term trader/investor, pull-backs may not bother you as much.

  Me personally, I like to make 50-65% profit on my option selling trades. I set GTC orders on all of my option selling orders, and let them run the course.

On option buying strategies I like to make 30% gain on the option bought.

  Quick example of each:

  Option Sell: XYZ trading at $96.00

Sell (1): 97.5x Call option 21 AUG 20

Buy (1): 100x Call option 21 AUG 20

premium taken in: $1.07. If my option were to dwindle down to $0.50, I would buy back the option and take my profit and run.

1.07-0.5/1.07= 0.53 OR 53% profit

  Option Buy: XYZ trading at $96.00

Buy (1): 97.5x Call option 21 AUG 20

Sell (1): 100x Call option 21 AUG 20

Premium out: $1.08. If this goes up in the direction we want, we take it and especially run. We take less of a percentage with option buying due to the volatility of the options. One minute you can be in the money, next you’ll be far out. You have to take profits while you can.

1.08 x 0.3=0.32

0.32 + 1.08=1.4

$1.40 is what our exit option price would be.

  This gives me an idea when I want to get out and takes the ‘guessing game’ out of the trade. I may let winners run from time to time, but not all the time. 

If a stock goes against me, depending on the trade I may try a couple of things. If it’s an options selling strategy, I may go ahead and create an iron condor and try to recoup some of the money that I have lost. I would create a credit spread opposing the original trade’s side, hoping to close out and make a smaller loss. If it was an iron condor being challenged, I’d simply move the unchallenged side closer to ATM strikes in order to take in more premium. Option buying, is the hardest to swallow. I usually end up trying take some of the money left from the trade, if any is left. That is why you have to trade small. 

    Rob Smith

 He uses stop losses. $.01 stops. This is a very tight stop, but rightfully so. He does not want to lose any of the money to the market, so If the stock doesn’t go his way, he simply gets out of the trade. I think this is a very smart way to trade. However, you have to have at least $25,000 in order to go in and out of stocks daily. The brokerage companies will flag you and you can get in trouble for this.

  Option Alpha

50% profits, and sometimes smaller profits on different option selling strategies. With other option selling strategies he may take only 25% of the premium received. It’s very interesting to see because he’s even conservative on the buying side of his trades in general. He usually makes very few buying trades, and looks to sell options more frequently.

Here is a link to his guidelines for exiting trades early. It’s great and I really think you should have a look at it. You will have to sign-up for his membership list, but its completely free. This isn’t some plug either, don’t know the guy at all personally.

  Notice one thing with these guys? They DO NOT want to give their money back to market. You have to be extremely tight with your exit strategies and profit taking, since the  market can be wishy-washy. One minute you’re looking like the best, the next you’re a grade A dummy!

        Using Too Much Money to Trade

  This is my most important rule in all of trading. Don’t use too much money on a single trade! If you are wrong on a trade or two, it can literally blow up your account. I’ve done this, and it sucks. The continuous flow of money in your account, and for you to withstand small losses in your account proves to yourself that you can manage money. That’s just as important as being able to make the right trade.

  Being able to manage money can translate to all aspects of your life, with you gaining a life-skill: discipline.

  Here is a quick run-down of my trading techniques:

– use 4- 5% per trade, for selling options strategies

– use 1-2% of portfolio per trade, for buying options strategies

  Selling Options:

Let’s say we have a $5000 account size. 5% of 5000 is 250. $5000 x 0.05= $250

Stock XYZ is trading at $72.00. You decide to sell an call credit spread using the 75-strike and 76-strike. You take in a premium of $0.30

Our ‘buying power effect’ or holding cost would be $71.30 per spread.

If we wanted to use our 5% allocation rule, we would at most, be able to sell three contracts. $71.30 x 3= $213.90

That is our option selling allocation. Now, let’s look at the buying side.

  Buying Options:

Stock XYZ trading $72.00. You decide you want to go long on the stock and decide to buy a 72-strike call option.

The call option cost $1.05. If we do the math, this is too much. Since it is only $0.05 over, I wouldn’t go crazy over it, but you get the point.

If used the 1-2% allocation we’d like to be under $100.  $5000 x 0.02= $100

  I try to stay within those guidelines at all times so my trading becomes a bit more mechanical and I don’t have to think as much about allocation. No more than 5% of your account per trade is the most important rule. As you see, when your account grows, so does the amount of money you can use to trade. Conversely, if your account dwindles, the amount of money you can use to trade lowers. It helps you stay on track whether you’re doing well or not so good.

  I consider this a little electric fence. It’s not bad as long as you stay within the parameters, but if you go outside the fence- Shock-time!

      $AG

  On 7/17 it gapped up after an inside day. It had a high of $11.76. I entered in on this day at around the $11.50 mark, with a 13-strike weekly call, hoping that it would continue to ride up more. This is where it gets tricky.

Although the stock gapped up again the next day, It ended up see-sawing back and forth in the first hour. Since the stock was going back and forth, I decided to close out my trade early and take profits at 30%. It went up substantially the NEXT DAY after I took profits, which is what happens with trades sometimes. You think you’re doing well and you could’ve done better. Vice-versa. A win is a win in my book. I’m happy that I won some money and was able to take it off.

  I really wanted to discuss this trade because it shows you how you can easily leave profits on the table. But, we have to remember, as long as you’re making profits, you’re winning! With continuing to take profits early, you simply have more capital to deploy and can continuously trade.

  Thoughts

-take profits off early, this helps your success rate

-try to understand and emulate a trading plan before making your own

-no more than 5% allocation per trade

-continue to make trades small and let odds work in your favor

-start small with trading and work your way up, not the other way around

That being said, if I draw you art as a gift, you are allowed to do whatever you want with it. Make icons? Promo graphics? Go for it, it's my gift to you. You don't even need to credit me. You are not, however, allowed to badger me into making free art for you. That's just not cool.

Here's a good rule of thumb: If you see artwork watermarked with my URL, please don't use it. If I send you art in DMs without a watermark, go wild!

COMMISSIONS

Please do not reach out to me in asking for free graphics, icons, promos, art, etc. This has happened multiple times. Yes, sometimes I do free art and graphics for friends, but this is never prompted by them---it is always because I am inspired, not because they solicited it.

As someone who is struggling to make ends meet, knowing that people are commissioned for this sort of thing, this makes me very uncomfortable. This is for a few reasons. One, if someone comes to me, requesting I make them a graphic for free and I do it, I would feel guilty, as though I was taking work from an artist who makes their living making such graphics. Two, it feels a little exploitative, because if I say no, I could be putting our relationship at risk. Three, because of how exploitative it is, I worry that someone may try to manipulate me into being their friend specifically to get free art and graphics from me.

I’m happy to do informal commissions and such for whatever you need. Pricing will be discussed on what we decide together sounds reasonable, but I’ll be flexible. I don’t expect to earn much, and money earned will be used to fund minor luxuries. If enough people commission me and I earn a better understanding of how commissions work, I’ll open up commissions formally.

FOLLOWER TRACKER

I USE A FOLLOWER TRACKER. It doesn't track your IP or location or anything, it just checks my follower list for changes. I only use it to ensure that I don't send any more in character content to you if you are no longer interested in interacting with me. I take no offense if you do decide to unfollow me, and I won't hunt you down and ask for an explanation or anything creepy like that.

ICONS

PLEASE DON'T TAKE MY ICONS. I spend a lot of time working on them. It makes me very sad. Instead, please consider asking me directly how I achieve the effect you like on my icons so you can make a cool psd of your own.

GODMODING

You control your character, I control mine, DON'T GODMOD, GODMODE, POWERPLAY, AUTOHIT, ETC. It's not cool. If it does happen, I'll assume it was an accident and ask you to change your reply.

MUSE AND FANDOM DISCOMFORT

I HAVE SOME MUSES AND FANDOMS THAT MAKE ME UNCOMFORTABLE. These include, but are not limited to:

My Little Pony muses.If you are a single muse blog, and you write an MLP muse, I am not likely to follow you. If you are a multimuse, however, and you write non-MLP muses, this alone will not deter me from following you. I merely have a personal distaste for MLP.

Dolph from Camp Camp. Hitler jokes are not funny, and shame on the team for thinking it’s okay to make an entire character who is one. Unless you are writing Dolph in a way that you are actively acknowledging the bad choices on the part of the creators and are developing him as a character in a way that moves him beyond his unfortunate schtick, I have no interest in writing with you or any other muses you may have.

Real-life people. I’m not really cool with roleplaying with people who roleplay as real-life people, such as YouTubers, historical figures or idols, especially those such as Jacksepticeye, who has expressly stated his discomfort publicly. I find it disrespectful and it makes me uncomfortable. Self-insert OCs are of a different variety, one that I’m okay with interacting with as long as typical RP etiquette is adhered to.

Religious and mythical figures and dieties. I'm not comfortable with muses who are from religious texts of any sort, because these figures are someone's god or messiahs, and to them, they are not works of fiction, and thus, portraying them is wildly inappropriate. If it isn't okay to portray Jesus Christ, why would it be okay to portray an obscure diety from Native American mythology? However, I am comfortable with interacting with OC or fictional characters who are deities, because they are creations of the imagination, not someone who is worshiped.

Genderbends. Genderbends, by their very existence, are transphobic. Here's a post that explains the issue beautifully. If you want to bend the gender of your muse, just make them trans, man.

LISA & CHILD ABUSE

Child abuse is a topic that is frequently discussed on this blog, but is one that is always tagged and never written about explicitly. It only occurs implicitly with young Alfendi, and seldomly at that, and is sometimes talked about in threads.

I will never, ever, ever write Lisa. Ever. I am not comfortable writing her, not even for one of those 'ask my muse's parents' memes. I am not comfortable composing even a single line of dialogue for her. Not only is she abusive and gross, but attempting to write her would be triggering for me in a couple different ways.

If you want to terrorize Alfendi by sending an anon saying something as a Lisanon or Ghost!Lisa or whatever, go for it! Fuck him up! But, don't send literal active child abuse to my inbox, because that's disgusting.
