the blues is the base of rock every thing starts there. the problem with modern rock is it sucks vs the bands from the 70s and 80s. were are the huge stars of today ? who's the next ozzy,the next kiss,the next alice cooper, the next guns n roses,the next motley crue,white snake ,all the great stars are from the 70s and 80s and its the same for metal. all you have are a great deal less talented bands that are namless ,faceless bands no larger then life rock stars who can't sing or play like the greats like george lynch,eddie van halen,zakk wylde,randy rhoads. who are the great front men of today that are as great as david lee roth,axl roses,david coverdale,freddie mercury and robert plant,lemmy,rob halford, or even some one like mark slaughter no one that's who.post grunge modern rock just blows a fat one, so if you wounder why rap and pop have taken over every thing and rapper are the biggest stars today and rock n roll and metal bands are so under ground that there no longer part of pop culture any more, you can thank alt-rock for that becouse it all started in the 90s when rap started to take over every thing and rock started to die. I think it is in america or close to it, in europe or western and northern europe it still seems to be alive way more then in america.
