A full day today, so I figured it might be fun to write up what a professor's day might look like when not lecturing!
6:30AM: Got up early to virtually attend a friend's wedding on the East Coast! <333
8:00AM: I have been very careful this quarter to shuffle lectures/meetings around so that I have a little time to myself in the mornings to sit at home and drink coffee and eat breakfast and pet a cat while I get the day's work started. No exception today! I pull up an application my PhD student has been putting together for a tech grant and use the proverbial red pen to make some (a lot of) comments. It looks good overall, though! I send him a note to encourage him to send it to our collaborator in the computer science department when he's done with edits. Monday's the deadline, we gotta get moving on this.
9:00AM: I load up a bag with books I keep putting off taking to my office, plus some extra Halloween candy I found to add to my office candy bowl, and head out to take the bus in to campus. Also, pet the cat goodbye (she is unconcerned).
9:45AM: At the office, books and candy put away! Time to prep for my first meeting, which is a committee meeting with someone else's PhD student. He struggled a bit with a recent exam (entirely his advisor's fault, but that's a different story), so we're reconvening as a group to see his progress and cheer him on. He sent an update document, so I run through that and take a few notes. Then it's responding to e-mails (setting up my participation in a federal review panel next year, responding to two prospective graduate students interested in working with me - the combo of a fun research topic and a beautiful campus means I'm now up to 20 inquiries so far this quarter, eep - and sending out an update to the department about the charitable giving opportunities I'm coordinating).
10:30AM: Great presentation by the PhD student about all the things he's done since our last meeting back in April-ish. He's made huge changes to his work, and we applaud (literally and figuratively) how much he's accomplished in such a short time. Also, amazing data visualization! Great work all around. He's set to defend his PhD by 2025 at this rate, definitely back on track.
11:30AM: Time to rush back to my office to meet with my own PhD student! We usually meet on Fridays, but we get tomorrow off for the holiday so we jumped the meeting back. He's a few minutes late due to a missed bus, so my next-door colleague and I talk about cats for a few minutes. As you do. When he does arrive, he's got some cool stuff to show me - we talk about the notes I made on his grant application, and I remind him (and myself) to book flights to a conference in December that is rapidly approaching somehow. (I guess this means I have to do some cool and innovative research before then that I can talk about. Go figure.) He also shows me some cool preliminary results from a project he's been doing with a friend out in Pennsylvania. He's late enough in his PhD that my role as advisor is primarily to get out of his way and make sure he has enough supercomputer core-hours to get his work done!
12:30PM: A break for me! I start in on e-mail again, sending a coordinator my bio and abstract for a talk I've been invited to give (virtually, thankfully) at a student conference in January. I also realize that, because of the break tomorrow, I should really put together a homework assignment and next week's lectures for the class I teach Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Hmmm. I dig through last year's lectures and assignments and realize they've gotten a little out of sync this year. The solution? I may just offer 5 instead of 6 assignments over these ten weeks and give them this one a week later. Class average has been extremely high on them, and I think the students will appreciate a bit of a break. Also means today's job is just to prepare a few lectures based on last year's material. I've got a big chunk of open time later this afternoon to deal with course stuff, so back to e-mail. Going to be joining a friend (who I can't help but think of as the undergrad who sat in during all my grad classes, but is now somehow a full research scientist) on a very cool project putting together a new thunderstorm dataset. Also reached out to another friend about setting up biweekly meetings to hopefully start a new research collaboration and... possibly some fieldwork! I also almost forgot to put a forecast together for our forecasting competition, but I got there in time. Phew.
1:30PM: Meeting with a colleague and the undergrad research intern we co-supervise who is sadly having to leave to go attend school closer to home. This meeting is mostly just us reinforcing to her that we're still here if she needs advice/reference letters or ever wants to work on a similar project with us remotely in the future, but we are going to continue with the research until the end of the quarter, at her request. After the meeting, I get an e-mail about another undergraduate looking for a research project! I present her with the options of a cool lightning project with my colleague next door (waiting to hear back about federal funding for that project, fingers crossed) and that other cool thunderstorm project led by my friend in Oklahoma.
2:30PM: Seminar time! A very cool freshly-minted PhD from California tells us all about her research, a complicated topic about which I knew very little going in and now know... slightly more. There was a very geeky moment in which she showed what happened to a particular part of the climate system when CO2 was added, then showed what happened when CO2 was removed, and the asymmetry of it made everyone in the room gasp and then self-consciously giggle.
4:00PM: Post-seminar snacks acquired (a big cookie and coffee are definitely a good late lunch, right? I kid, I kid, I had a big breakfast and have a big dinner waiting at home) and small-talk survived, I scramble back up to my office. Time to get those lectures ready for next week (pretty quick to do - rather than last year, where I'd show the code on the screen and we'd talk about it, I'm having us write the code together live and debug as we go; harder in the moment for me, but the students are learning so much better!). Get an e-mail back from the new undergrad research intern expressing interest in the lightning project, amazing! Time to get her registered so she gets credit for this starting in January. Also finally get a teensy bit more editing done on a draft of a review article that one of the top scientific journals in the world tapped me to write (???? still surreal beyond measure).
5:30PM: BAND PRACTICE. Our department is so nerdy that the faculty/staff/postdocs/grad students put together a giant band to perform popular songs but as covers so we can make the lyrics about our nerdy research. This tradition has been going on for 30+ years, and the big performance is for an hour at our holiday party every year. It's a riot, and this is my first year joining in the chaos (I'm on keys on three songs!). There are like 25 of us, we have a horn section, a professor plays the mandolin, the students create elaborate musical roasts of their professors, it's great. My parts go great, to the point where when there's some trouble with key drift during an a capella part they call me in to play chords under it and keep them grounded. I love playing music with other people!
7:00PM: Time to pack up and head home for dinner. Phew.
Long day, but also LONG WEEKEND BAYBEE. I don't actually have to do any substantial work this weekend, so that means BALDUR'S GATE WEEKEND BAYBEE.

This might be a big ask but what characters do you think are dom/sub and top/bottom? If thats too long, just Brett, JR, Glenn. Thank you!
ANON YOU KNOW I LOVE LONG ASKS SMDNSDMSN
NSFW BELOW!!
okie im gonna need,, a system,, okie okie okie,,
Brett Hand
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
YEA BABEY <33 NOBODY IS SURPRISED HERE, HES SUPER SUBBY
mostly bc he struggles with being,, Confident and Dominant and In Charge smdnsmd.
It just doesn’t suit him!! Not a fan!!
If he does try to dom, he’s definitely very Soft Dom territory - all cooing and praise, super affectionate and doting!! Maybe some light pinning of your wrists if he’s feeling particularly,, confident.
and even then by the time he’s cumming he’s probably gonna default back to being super submissive.
it’s just so nice not having to think. He can just be soft and safe in your arms, and know that you who can enjoy yourselves without him being put together.
He can be all rambly and incoherent bc. he knows he’s safe!! He can be vulnerable with you he can be himself!! <333 twue wuv babey!!
I hold strong to the idea that he’s a vers bc not only would he be the Prettiest, Sweetest Bottom known to mankind but. I can just see him adoring getting his lights fucked out?
LIKE RAILING SOMEONE IS ONE THING, BUT BEING RAILED?? Whole different sensation. Completely different flavor of Brain Shutting Off, Nothing To Worry About to enjoy!! <33
Gigi Thompson
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
<3333 ANDRE SAID HE WAS ‘A LITTLE SCARED’ DURING SEX W/ HER. PLUS HER WHOLE ‘I LIKE POWER’ ON HER RIGHTSWIPE PROFILE. SHES A DOM COME ON <333
I was gonna say,, VV Dom but tbh?? I can see her letting herself unwinding a bit and letting smb else take care of her. She likes to treat herself <3
esp when she’s stressed and tired and just. everyone is pissing her off and she wants to be anyone else in the world but Gigi Thompson??
YEAH <333 those are especially the times where she just wants smb to fuck her brains out while she lays face-down in bed. Pure bliss nothing like it <3
But overall,, she’s gonna favor being dominant. she knows what she likes and she knows how to get it <3 and she knows how to make you feel perfect all the while!!
Vers, she loves both to death <3 all depends on her mood, not uncommon to,, switch halfway through and back again <3333
SHE HAS SUCH PRETTY STRAPS. SORRY YOU’RE GETTING A PARAG ABOUT THIS I THINK ABOUT IT SO OFTEN.
she gets them custom made to match her lingerie - clear and all these different glitters inside so it shines against the glow of her bedlamp <3333 the harnesses are covered in this super smooth silk <3 aaaa <33
She’s gonna have hold of your jaw, to make you’re you’re keeping eyecontact <3 whether shes giving or recieving - you’ll be able to feel the dig of her nails the whole time (stiletto, ofc)
Reagan Ridley
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
ARE WE SURPRISED NO BUT STILL VERY FUN <333
she much prefers to be in a,, dominant role vs submissive - gives her more room to maneuver + she’s usually the one initiating, so she can orient herself!!
She’s very specific about what she does and doesn’t like, so it just makes things easier for her!!
that isn’t to say she’ll never enjoy some submissive stuff - every once in a blue moon it’s really nice to just,,, lay back and let someone do the work.
usually with oral she’ll get more submissive, bc it feels ‘safer’?? She doesn’t have to worry about really unexpected touches or sensations. It’s super straightforward so she can,, just let her brain shut off <3333
But also. Oral is super imprecise so it isn’t usually her go-to
THAT BEING SAID SHE PREFERS BOTTOMING OVERALL
Mostly bc she doesn’t have the stamina to top. Pegging is fun but she doesn’t have the core strength to keep that up for long
MSNDMSNDMD IF YOU WANT SOME OF THAT,,, JUST RIDE HER. PLEASE. HER HEART WILL GIVE OUT IF SHE TRIES TO TOP.
Glenn Dolphman
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
again we aren’t surprised but ALSO,,,, THERES A LOTTA FUN HERE <333
HES A TOP AND HES GONNA TOSS YOU LIKE A HACKYSACK WHICH IS,, SUCH A DELICIOUS COMBO <333
he manhandles like nobody else. It’s like a goddamn tilt-a-whirl with how often he’s gonna be flipping you over, moving your legs, pinning you, etc. You’re gonna feel like a rodeo clown. <333 IF YOU LIKE IT ROUGH THEN HE’S ABSOLUTELY YOUR MAN
AND THE TEETH <333 look at that absolute maw,, he has such a thing for leaving marks!! If you ask he will,, gladly put those chompers to use.
JUST <333 he always gets this amazing Grimace where he bares his teeth when he’s close and. his teeth get so shimmery
he. does have a bad back though and several other injuries from several things (deployment, surgery, misc injuries he ignored and they’ve just,, got worse) so,,,, riding him will probably be the best for this knees!!
DON’T TELL HIM YOU WANT TO RIDE HIM TO MAKE SURE HE ISN’T IN PAIN THO, HE’LL GET SO HUFFY. He’s too prideful and stubborn for his own good.
Andre Lee
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
TRUE NEUTRAL BABEY <33  SMDNSMD
with,, the SLIGHTEST lean towards sub - just because he’s a lot more used to it!!
When he goes to orgies he loves to just,, bend himself over the nearest couch and wait. Tried and true method, never fails smmnmdsnds.
MSNDSMD HE’S ALSO VV EXPERIMENTAL!! He’ll try (almost) anything once - he lives by the idea of Don’t Knock It Till You Try It.
(granted he’s tried almost everything. but. shush.)
GOD BUT HE’S SO ENERGETIC AND FUN DURING SEX IM NEVER LETTING GO OF THIS <33
he’s just got this Vibe about him of pure excitement and shameless enjoyment.
like whyyyy should sex be so serious,, this isn’t a funeral,, please he wants both of you to be happy and giggly and feeling good!!
So whether he’s dom or sub, he’s gonna be keeping that vibe!!
Sex with Andre just has this. super Light feeling. Like afterwards you feel all floaty bc you’ve basically spent the last 3 hours,, laughing and cumming. 10/10 he’s the perfect man.
like some ppl are shy about sex, worried what ppl will think of their sounds, etc, NOPE NOT ANDRE LEE BABY
He has no problem telling you exactly how good you’re making him feel. In as much detail as his brain will allow him, the most dazed smile plastered on his face <333
Myc
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
YEAH NO BEING SUBMISSIVE IS VERY HARD FOR HIM. He likes having a lot of control - being submissive takes,, some vulnerability so it’s. not ideal.
Having so many tentacles <33 just,, come on, being a top fits so naturally!!!
I have thought very hard about the logistics of how he would bottom and what I’ve come up with is either,
Sounding
_______
_______
So do with that what you will MSNDMSND
OVERALL THO??? JUST,, THE MOST FILTHY DIRTY TALK. He’s absolutely shameless. Andre’s rambling turned up to 11. He’ll comment on your thoughts, his thoughts, any little details to get you even more fucked-out and eager <33
Idk why I imagine him being pretty rough?? Like wrapping his tentacles super tight around your hands, wrists, thighs, etc. Tight like a tourniquet, as he holds you up against the nearest surface <333
LIKE TEASE AND DENIAL IS ABSOLUTELY HIS JAM. So many tentacles <3 so many fun sensations to play with.
Jr Scheimpough
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
THE MOST SUBBY BOTTOM TO EVER BOTTOM. we already knew this but COME ONNNN <33333
He may rival Brett in that regard smdnsdm I’m unsure.
he will top,, sometimes,, but that submissiveness never goes away <33 he’ll be begging and apologizing the whole time.
NO IM NEVER GIVING UP ON THE,, ‘JR apology kink’ train. It lives in the walls of my brain. I don’t even know if there’s a specific word for it but this man has such a thing for Apologizing and Begging Forgiveness. Half of his work is groveling. He throws himself on his knees at the slightest provocation. I am a JR Apology Kink Truther.
ALSO DEGREDATION SMDNSDM
<333 HE WANTS TO FEEL LIKE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH BABY BE MEAN BE CRUEL <333333
I would go Full Bottom but,, I feel like he does likes topping, he just lacks the energy most of the time.
He’s always so stressed and exhausted from working around whatever the last disaster was, that most of the time he just wants to get his brains turned to jelly. and not have to do anything. Greedy bastard <3
Alpha-Beta
vv sub - sub - switch - dom - vv dom
vv bottom - bottom - vers - top - vv top
YANNOW,, I was gonna go vv dom but. I feel like you could get this man submissive
His preference for being dom + top is mostly due to
This bitch loves being in a role with power,, having ‘control’ over smth or someone,,,,, it fulfills the same biological niche that Ruling Over The World would occupy MSNDMSND
Oh No Vulnerability Is Terrifying (tm)
If you know what buttons to push, this man will be as pliable as tinfoil for you <3
Praise and/or Overstimulation are the fastest avenues, but there’s plenty of room for experimentation with him!! He’s,, almost always up for a challenge, and he loves seeing how far he can be pushed.
MWA OK I THINK THATS ALL OF EM <333 this was very fun, please lmk if you had something else in mind!!!

Gliaster: 👁️👻💥😨🌙🕷️🌹🌌📣mouse trap👑🎵🎡🔫📎💧❤️💌 SORRY ITS TOO MUCH feel free to skip questions if u want im just 👉👈
FINALLY....AFTER ALMOST A YEAR... I have answered this. 😎<333
I wrote this all up in a note app so I guess that's why the text size is inconsistent, sorry for that! >_< (edit: I figured it out and fixed it yayyy)
-
👁️ EYE - what colour are their eyes? do people notice their eyes? is there anything special about them (shows emotion easily, literally magical…)?
Golden! And since their eyes are big, so people do notice them easily (but I guess that's also because asura heads are also usually big)... Also! They glow in the dark. 😏 It starts as soon as dawn/dusk/any slight darkening... (realistically they just reflect light but hhhh glowy eyes pog)
👻 GHOST - do they believe in ghosts? what are their “ghostly experiences”, if any?
They do! I mean yeah since ghosts exist in Tyria They did see some even when they were traveling the world, but the number of ghost sightings greatly increased in Elona (*coughs* The Desolation). They usually don't care/bother though so they don't have any experiences to speak of.
💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?
Hmm maybe grief? Like... they can deal with it but pretty badly as they haven't learned to mourn properly since they never had the "chance".
😨 FEARFUL - when scared, do they go into “flight” or “fight”?
Fight! 💥 They're ready to throw hands at the slightest spook anytime.
🌙 MOON - what is your oc’s greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?
Hmmm I guess at the core of them, "be the wisest necromancer of all time" is the one. They almost straight up died for it once (days of starving in the prisons of Gandara just so they could learn necromancy from Joko), so yeah they're willing to go pretty far. 😈
🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?
They're terrified of any kind/amount of memory loss. While some people may fear being forgotten, Gliaster fears forgetting.
Mundane fears, mostly...sand sharks! More specifically, getting jumpscared and eaten by a sand shark.
🌹 ROSE - do they like valentines day? have they been confessed to before? have they confessed to anyone before?
They don't really care for it; they love their beloved every 365 day of the year!  Plus, they prefer surprises; affection and gifts are best when they're unexpected and not "ohh I bought you this because it's x day."
And yes to both! Gliaster is (Rick Astley voice) no stranger to love and has been on both end of confessions.
🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
My inspiration was my love for Joko and Elona, which kickstarted breaking Gliaster out of the shackles of being the Commander and turned them into my 100% "original" character! But I remember the very first thing I decided about them was their gender.❤️ I looked at asura and went wow I want what they have. I instantly knew Gliaster would have none of any gender.
📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?
Even though it sounds nice and appealing, their voice is quite high-pitched, which is something they're insecure about (and the older they get the more insecure they get as well). I do not have a spoken voice claim, only sung one, but it is Aneela Mirza! Some might know her from the 90's europop duo Toy-Box, lol.
Here's an example video I made btw hehehe
🪤 MOUSE TRAP - what will always lure them into certain danger? a loved one in danger? a promise of something they are always searching for?
Oh yes, a loved one in danger for sure... But also some source of knowledge that is thought to be very valuable. They try to think rationally and be careful if a suspicion of a bait ever happens (knowing well they're not-so-liked in some areas) but god do their emotions and curiosity get the better of them sometimes...
👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?
Definitely the books they write post-Joko, which is something no one really has done before (especially not from Gliaster's POV, who knew Joko intimately for 10 years)
They also want to be remembered for their necromancer skills, because it's something they've honed all their life.
🎵 MUSIC NOTE - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them?
N/A for the first part of the question, but yee I have few songs like that!
"Whenever Wherever" by Shakira is their theme song (like the lyrics "Lucky that I love a foreign land for / the lucky fact of your existence" is sooooo perfect)
"Dancing with the Dead" by Powerwolf is pog as well (The whole thing just inspires me to really turn them into the next expansion villain lmao)
And any song that comes from their voiceclaim! (especially non-english songs)
🎡 FERRIS WHEEL - are they someone who wants to kiss at the top of the ferris wheel?
Not particularly want, but if it happened, they wouldn't mind... 😏 (They're not really a fan of cheesy stuff like that anyway)
🔫 PISTOL - do they trust people easily? how easily will they turn their back to someone? have they been backstabbed before? will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?
Nope! They turn their back hardly, and if they do so, their back will be covered. They're prepared for everything because they believe that anything they have done (for example, treason and murder :^)) could also be done to them. And yes as mentioned, they would betray someone (and did before) but only by their own decision and not an outside control.
📎 PAPERCLIP - a random fact.
They're polyamorous!
(Not a fun fact to you personally hehe but might be for people who read this. 👀 :3c)
💧 DROPLET - random angst headcanon
They usually cope with bad stuff with overworking themself.❤️ Also when Joko dies they just fall ill/sick from the initial depression/grief . :^)
❤️ RED HEART - their love language(s)?
Quality time and touch. <3
💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?
They find the concept of long, heartfelt letters too cheesy but they do like leaving short notes around for Joko to find. Stuff like "I went to check on the Bonestrand people, will be back soon, don't miss me too much <3" Tyrian post-it shenanigans LMAO

hii uncle nina… *tears roll down my face* 12 devastated me (in a positive way) and you are so real for writing the first story in YEARS that affected me this deeply. i went on ao3 expecting to find some silly weird quirky south park shenanigans and accidentally entered a strict relationship with the most beautifully written masterpiece i have ever read and i am SO committed!
i also hope youre doing better! im glad you took some time away to take care of yourself, and please dont hesitate to step away again if you feel like it! we will still be here! youre not getting rid of us anytime soon!
now… *clears throat* style & kenjorine double date? :3
hello there, nonnie!
i'm terribly sorry for devastating you...but am honored that you are so emotionally impacted by the things that i write! also ohhhhh my goodness, shshshsh! far form a masterpiece haha!
in the wise words of cher horowitz ( my queen ): "she's ( my fic ) a full on monet. from far away its okay, but close up it's a big, ol' mess!" shdskkshdk
rawness and authenticity are very important to me, it's important to me that the boys, their world, their emotions, their actions feel real to you and that their motivations/characteristics are perceived as beautifully human and deeply flawed. as a writer, i want to create something that replicates a microcosm of life for you. something that does not fall flat, that excites you, infuriates and leaves you alight.
but once again, my friends. i write this fanfiction because it is fun. i want it to feel real...but at the end of the day it is fanfiction! be gentle with yourselves. please lean into the comfort and away from the hurt! the very kind and wonderful words that you all have administered to me like a dose of cherry nyquil, i am providing back to you. listen to your heart, mind and body. be kind to yourself. take breaks, take walks, *tolkien vc* take anything you need off the night(stan)d. <3
please do not let my funny, funky, fever dream of a fanfiction run you into the ground. i urge you to become looser and more lenient with your relationship the same way i have tried to, just because i want you to be healthy and as happy as possible. also...thank you for your kind words about my writing. <333 i can tell just from your message that you are wellspoken ( well typed ), wonderful and full of whimsy and light. may it guide you to good places, darling!
also actually!!!!! that is very funny you said that!!! i know i am not supposed to promise you things so if this doesnt make it into the final cut, do not stone me to death! but i did put a lot of the cfpom ( core four plus one more ) in thirteen, specifically kenny and marjorine because i love them! as far as the cfpom goes, i actually really love their group dynamic!!! its so funny when they all interact with me so i am trying to shoe-horn something in that i wrote that has a lot of the side characters in it. i love the side characters <3
also...i apologize if the next chapter is very long...? i figure we are all pretty familliar with how i operate by now and that i will probably write a lot, but just? take breaks yeah? read slow if you can? i'm excited i hope you are! thank you for your loveliness, i don't deserve you. <3333

i never really post positive things on here so here's something!
i'm finally feeling really hopeful, excited, and motivated for my second semester of college :)
i don't even wanna talk about my academic performance last sem.. but this sem i have a lot of renewed hope and i think it's because falling so far away from myself allowed me to understand my needs better and identify what things do and do not work for my success and wellbeing. so for a moment, i'm just gonna talk about all the things i'm looking forward to!
first, i'm looking forward to just the new opportunity for success in general. where i failed last sem is that as hard as i tried to stay organized - time felt constantly beyond my control. so i'm looking forward to try and take hold of my own time this semester. i'll make a master list of important dates, deadlines, and assignments and learn to plot out times for certain assignments and projects so that i'm not overwhelmed. it'll help with diminishing my procrastination to not only remind myself of deadlines, but specifically outline how much work to do each day. i'll a lot study days and times instead of just winging it and taking it day by day which i've learned only makes me feel lost and like i'm constantly running to catch up. i'm excited to prepare myself better to manage my time most efficiently so that i can excel in my classes :) and knowing that i'll feel more prepared makes me excited for study days because i know that i'll feel productive and on top of my priorities! i'm excited to better learn and study spanish and feel confident in my progress. im not so excited about math, but i'm excited for the productivity it'll make me feel. i'm very excited for my pilates class! something about the health aesthetic surrounding the concept of pilates feels very motivating :) i'm excited for the productivity of studying human anatomy and im especially excited for my soul voices class! not only does it cover a core credit but i've vsited that class before and the choir is INCREDIBLE and the energy that the director curates is absolutely magical and so safe and comforting. it's going to be a great class to reground myself when i need it. plus i already have friends in there! i'm so excited eeek. and also just excited to SING AGAIN !!! <333
continuing onnnn, im excited about the layout of my schedule (fingers crossed it gets approved!) because everything is spaced out so it wont be super overwhelming or overstimulating. there's a lot of room to time manage and i'm excited for that opportunity to build good time efficiency habits. i'm excited to spend my time focusing on school, and the focusing on myself when i need to - taking care of myself physically, pursuing creative endeavors, but also playing games and sleeping when i need a mental break. i'm also happy because being prepared and staying on top of priorities will also make me feel less guilt for going to school clubs and events :)
what else what else what else. i'm excited to make money by helping my mom with her business and also selling my own art! and that'll be for the rest of winter mostly. the rest of winter is for focusing on school work, myself, and my money. then the weather is gonna get warmer! and i'm SUPER excited for that because i'm already imagining the beach days, and days where i just chill with friends on the big lawn, studying outside, CYPHS!, and just so much sun <3 i cant wait to bloom with spring and feel alive again. i cant wait to build better habits and become a better student and be better to myself and my dreams. i cant wait for how rewarding it will feel once sun and skirts season rolls around and i can bask in it with pride for how far ive come.
2023: i beg. please please please bring me nothing but focus focus focus, motivation, money, energy, peace, and ease. let me try again and please let me succeed. i'm doing my best. don't let my hope go to vain. i want to be a better student and i will be. i want to have financial independence and i will. i want to overcome old habits, evolve, grow, and enjoy the fruit i bore. i want to feel pride. i will, with my gall and your grace.

Pairing: Jongin x reader (female)
Genre: dude idk, soft and romantic... stripper AU?!
Rating: (M) for language and sexual themes/situations
Word Count: 4,179
Summary: In the year you’ve been working at the Elxyion Male Revue you’ve somehow managed to not date, or anything else, with any of your incredibly hot co-workers. But then a new dancer starts who makes you break all your rules.
A/N: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY/CHRISTMAS @gingersaysjump ILY BAE <333 😉 😉 😉
The lights on the strip dazzle you, as they always do.
A hum of pleasure courses through you on your walk to work. In the year you’ve lived here Vegas has never failed to capture your imagination.
The city seems to rise as night falls. While the rest of the world closes its doors and falls asleep, Vegas wakes from its slumber and comes alive.
A faint breeze blows in off the desert and teases the edges of your dress. The material brushes against your thighs, already slightly damp in the persistent heat. It impresses you the way the blazing sun from the day lingers well on into the night, mixes with alcohol and music and skin, and infuses the city with an electric pulse that doesn’t burn off until dawn.
Something is coming, you think to yourself abruptly. You draw your lip between your teeth and work at it while you ponder what it could be.
Call it intuition, fate, whatever you want - it’s there, and it’s always guided you.
Whatever is coming, you’ll handle it, you tell yourself and shrug absently, releasing your lip.
Oh how wrong you are.
The club is in full preparation mode when you arrive. Kat the bar manager waves at you before her announcer boyfriend Chanyeol resumes what appears to be a very thorough exploration of her mouth with his tongue.
A man with cat-like eyes gives you a nod, his lips pulling back into what would be a smirk on a more arrogant man. The costume manager is fitting him for a military outfit that looks downright deadly and that familiar coil of heat grows in your core as you meet Minseok’s gaze.
You lift your hand in greeting, thankfully slipping through the curtain on the far side of the room to head into the staff lounge. He’s been flirting with you for weeks. Making eye contact every time he brought someone on stage to dance with, grinding his hips into that night’s bachelorette or birthday girl so you knew that he wasn’t just tempting you.
He wanted you to know exactly how good it would be if you finally let him fuck you.
For weeks he’s been letting his hand linger on your lower back when you all leave together at the end of the night. Giving you knowing looks at staff meetings. Hinting at things, but not acting on them; slowly working down your defenses.
But for now you’ve remained strong.
There’s always a buzz around the Elyxion Male Revue on Friday nights. Big crowds. Sweat. Screaming women going insane with each new inch of skin revealed by the dancers.
But, more importantly for you, Friday nights bring excellent tips.
You lift your purse over your head and slip it in your locker. Suddenly you feel a chin press to your shoulder.
‘Are you ready to die, my friend?’ says the cheerful voice.
Turning you raise a brow at your friend Sarah, you fight a smile as she gives you her giddy I know something you don’t know look.
‘What?’
‘Oh come on, ask me,’ she teases, humming.
‘You know I’m not going to ask, so you might as well just tell me,’ you deadpan, pulling your apron from your locker.
‘Ugh, fine. Ruin my fun,’ she says, dropping the charade. ‘Or maybe I won’t tell you, and I’ll get to watch you melt with no warning.’
‘Are you talking about the new military number?’ you ask. ‘Old news. I saw Min being fitted when I came in. Plus, did you forget I work on Sundays when they practice their new routines?’
She makes a sound like a buzzer. ‘Nope. Try again.’
You turn and fold your arms, leveling her with your most serious stare and finally she relents.
‘Oh fine. You’re lucky I love you,’ she says, stepping closer. Something about the mischievous twinkle in her eyes causes the forewarning in the pit of your stomach to come alive again.
‘There’s a new dancer starting,’ she says nonchalantly.
Your brows pull together. ‘Okay... and? We get new dancers all the time, how is that news?’
‘Remember that show we watched last month? That dance competition we binged?’
‘I remember you turning it into a drinking game and almost passing out halfway through the first episode.’
She rolls her eyes and laughs. ‘Yes. That one. Well, I have it on news from a secret source that your favorite dancer just accepted a job here and will be here tomorrow to watch the show.’
Images flood your mind - a downright sinful expression on an angelic face. Hip thrusts revealing swaths of tanned, sweat-covered skin. An artistry of movement that somehow stirred both your heart and your desire.
A groan falls from your lips. ‘Oh, shit.’
Sarah’s eyes light up and she gives you finger guns. ‘There it is!’
‘Kim Jongin is going to be dancing here?’ you ask, desperate to seek clarification.
‘You got it, babe,’ she says, pulling her hair back into a low ponytail and turning to leave. ‘Get ready to burn.’
For a moment you watch her weave through the crowd of dancers, assistants, servers, and bartenders and feel your life tilt off balance.
‘Helloooo ladieeees and welcome to Elyxion, the number one male revue on the strip, out-thrusting Chippendale’s and Thunder From Down Under six nights a week. Are you ready to get this party started?’ Chanyeol’s voice booms over the speakers and the packed crowd goes wild.
You chuckle to yourself and bend down to take a woman’s drink order over the ecstatic screams of the crowd.
The sound of a fire alarm goes off through the room and you quickly write down the drink and move toward the bar.
‘Uh oh, ladies. I think there might be…’ Chanyeol’s joyful voice strings along the crowd, playing perfectly to the mix of fantasy and reality they came here for.
He walks across the stage, lifting his hand to his ear. ‘A FIRE IN THE BUILDING.’
The lights in the room drop just as you come to stand next to Kat at the bar. The two of you share an amused look and turn to watch the first performance.
Minseok always starts the show with the first solo - a firefighter number. Something about his combination of devastatingly hotness and his warm and reassuring presence sets the tone for the evening.
You discreetly deliver drinks to the tables during his dance.
His stare practically bores a hole in the back of your head and you know he’s hoping you’ll make eye contact. It’s a game you both enjoy playing, but there’s something missing tonight.
For some reason when you finally relent, as you always do, and watch him essentially dry hump the bachelorette on stage to Nelly’s ‘Hot in Herre’ you don’t feel the same electricity you once did.
With a confused shake of your head you carry on with the evening, laughing with the bar staff and other waiters, dancing along to the music when you can’t resist, and wondering what it is about the mere mention of Jongin that threw you off your groove.
The mid-afternoon line in Starbucks drags, sapping your energy. You step from foot to foot, eyeing the man at the front of the line who is placing what appears to be a million orders at once.
All you want is caffeine, but apparently Saturday is going to put you through hell to get it. After a long Friday night and with another wild night ahead of you, Saturdays always feel like three days in one.
With a sigh you raise your hand and begin to work your thumb into a kink in your neck. A buzzing in your pocket draws your attention. You pull out your phone and glance at the text on the screen.
Sarah 2:15pm dead woman walking
Sarah 2:15pm hope you’re ready for tonight ;)
Y/N 2:16pm you stop that now
Sarah 2:16pm nope, can’t make me
Sarah 2:16pm muahahahaha
You laugh to yourself and slide the phone back in the pocket of your dress.
Finally the man of a million orders moves to the side and the line moves forward.
The heat in Vegas is an insistent, unrelenting beast. It tugs at your hair, plays along the line of your neck, trails down your spine, refusing to let you find relief. If the club wasn’t air conditioned you’d be willing to bet women of all ages would literally pass out from the combination of masculine sexuality and heat in the air.
It’s especially hot in this goddamn Starbucks because the constant crush of bodies refuses to let the door stay closed and do its job of keeping this place cool.
A group of teenagers brushes past you. One of the boys reaches around to tickle the girl next to him and she jolts in surprise, crashing into you and throwing you backward - directly into the person behind you.
Strong hands wrap around your body, keeping you upright.
‘Shit, I’m so sorry,’ the girl says, reaching out a hand in your direction.
You wave her off with a smile. ‘No harm, no foul. It’s crowded as hell in here.’
She looks relieved and the hoard of youths finally departs, leaving you to turn and thank your rescuer.
Only years of customer service jobs and a practiced ability to control your reactions keeps you from dropping your mouth in shock.
The man behind you is none other than Kim Jongin himself, even more handsome in person in low slung jeans and a plain black button-up shirt. He finally removes his fingers from their hold on your upper arms and instantly you want to ask him to put them back.
‘Are you all right?’ he asks, low voice cascading across your skin.
You shake your head to clear it and give him a warm smile. ‘Yes, thanks to you.’
He laughs. ‘No problem. I’m not used to Starbucks’ being so crowded, but then again I’ve never visited one in Vegas.’
‘I know, right? Vegas is a universe unto itself. No normal rules apply.’
The line slides forward and you take a few steps up before turning back to him. When you do you see that he’s nonchalantly taking a look at your tanned legs showed to perfection by the skirt you’re wearing.
Oh, so that’s how it’s going to be, you think, lips twitching in amusement.
‘See something you like?’
He lifts his eyes to meet yours. Were he another man he might look apologetic, chastised, or maybe make a pass at you, a bold statement claiming you as his own possession to admire.
But he surprises you.
‘Sorry, that was rude of me - checking you out before I even ask your name.’
A boyish smile graces his lips accompanied by the seductive lift of one brow. A heat that has nothing to do with the high temperatures outside sweeps through you.
Warning bells go through your mind. Your commitment to not date people you work with. A hard-learned lesson not to be swept up by men who seem too good to be true rushes to your consciousness.
But unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at things, you’ve never been one to heed warnings.
The moment stretches on, neither of you breaking eye contact. There’s something in his irises, playing around his expression you can’t place. An attraction, sure. Playfulness, definitely. You decide to call it purity, someone who is exactly who he presents himself to be - no bullshit or facade, a rarity in Vegas.
You are well and truly fucked. And he didn’t even have to take your clothes off.
‘Well. Are you going to ask?’ you say, giving him your best flirtatious smile.
His brows crease adorably. ‘Ask what?’
The line moves forward and you’re finally to the register. Delight courses through you. Leaning forward you pause a few inches from his ear, looking at him through your lashes. ‘My name.’
He laughs, a bright warm sound, as unrestrained and un-self-conscious as the rest of him while you place your order.
When you step aside he’s got his phone out, holding it up to you with your name saved, making you laugh. Damn, you’d given your name to the barista.
‘How about a number to go with the name?’
Your lips pull back into a lopsided smirk. ‘I don’t think you’ll need it.’
He looks confused again. Somehow, your drink is already ready, the barista at the end of the bar calling your name.
‘I work at Elyxion,’ you say, joy and mischief infusing your words.
He chuckles, looking down at his feet. Another man might have asked questions, been off-put by the clear disparity of information between the two of you. But once again he surprises you, merely lifting a shoulder and turning to place his order.
‘I’ll see tonight.’
‘See you there... Jongin,’ you draw out the syllable, earning another laugh from him as you weave your way outside through the crowd.
The buzz in the club is even higher than normal when you arrive. Something about Jongin’s upcoming appearance has pushed everyone to operate at an even higher level. Costume staff, servers, even some of the strippers themselves - all seem to be trying extra hard tonight.
You laugh to yourself as you get ready, already surrendered to whatever the night will bring.
When you show up to the pre-opening staff huddle you find Jongin easily, his silver hair shining even in the low light of the prep room. When he sees you he gives you a wink before turning to listen to your general manager Junmyeon give the rundown for the show tonight.
He introduces Jongin and everyone welcomes him, the words passing through your mind without your notice. You’re far too distracted by the low cut shirt he’s wearing as you shamelessly check him out.
He catches you watching and smothers a laugh, raising an eyebrow as if to say fair is fair.
You mouth ‘at least I know your name’ to him and his eyes crinkle at the corner as he tries not to laugh.
The huddle breaks up and Junmyeon claps a hand on Jongin’s shoulder, steering him backstage to watch the show.
Unfortunately you only catch glimpses of him throughout the night as you serve drinks. He watches the routines with focus, mimicking the moves subtly in almost real time.
You find him like a homing beacon every time you serve on the far side of the room. And every time you walk back to the bar you run your hand along your neck, simultaneously cursing and thanking God for bringing this man into your orbit.
Sunday is everyone’s Friday, blessedly. A final show to close out the week and then a long day off on Mondays for everyone to rest and recover.
After two full days of weekend high the building is always nice and empty when you arrive for your shift. Sunday afternoons you and Kat do all the weekly tasks like inventory and ordering and bookkeeping in between yawning and drowning yourselves in coffee.
Jongin arrives just after two in an obscenely arousing pair of gray sweatpants and a black tank top. He waves to you and Kat while chatting with some of the other performers before heading onstage.
You do your best to not watch his rehearsal, avoiding the way you can see every line of his body as he practices the choreography.
‘Those goddamn hip thrusts,’ you mutter, glancing away as if he’s the sun, too bright and hot to look at without being burned in some way.
‘What was that?’ Kat asks, but the look on her face lets you know that she’s aware of not only what you said, but also what you meant.
You stick your tongue out at her and kneel down to intently count the glassware behind the bar.
‘That’s what I thought.’
After the last of the group numbers is through a DJ Khaled song starts, low and dangerous, and you feel it in your gut that this is the song they’ve chosen for Jongin’s solo dance.
‘Fuck,’ you sigh.
‘He’s dancing right now isn’t he,’ you ask with a wince, looking up at Kat.
She’s got her arms folded, leaning back against the bar. She tilts her head and whistles. ‘He sure is, my friend.’
‘Double fuck,’ you laugh to yourself.
‘You really should be watching this.’
‘Nope. No. Definitely not,’ you say decisively. ‘No dating people I work with. Or anything else for that matter, no matter how sweet and charming and incredible at dancing they are.’
She laughs. ‘Honey, I think you might want to make an exception.’
You narrow your eyes at her and go back to counting, standing and turning your back on the stage to work on the liquors.
‘You know that works better when you practice on a real person!’ Kat calls out, startling you.
‘What are you doing?!’
When you turn you see Sehun the choreographer rolling his eyes in amusement and Jongin on the floor, raised up on his arms smiling at you.
Kat gives you a satisfied grin. ‘Trust me.’
Jongin stands, resting his hands on his hips. Even from this distance you can see his chest rise and fall with his breathing, the sweat that shines on his chest and arms.
He stares you down, raising that damn brow in challenge. ‘Are you volunteering?’
She practically shoves you forward, taking the inventory list from your hands. ‘Yes, she is.’
You curse under your breath and smooth your hair behind your ears while you walk. Just what you need, to burn alive with lust while half your co-workers watch.
‘Hold You Down’ starts over again, the bass from the speakers thrumming through your veins.
In all the months you’ve worked here you could count on one hand the number of times you’ve been on stage. And you knew decidedly how many times you’ve been on stage in this context - none.
From here the bright lights of the stage make it hard to see the rest of the room, or even backstage. The spotlights create a bubble that exists only for you and Jongin. You assume the position on the chair set up at center stage, bracing your hands and grasping the edges of the chair for dear life.
With his eyes fixed on yours he moves in time to the beat, drawing his lip into his mouth and biting down as he takes off his shirt with aching slowness.
Once it’s free he steps up to you, bringing his face a breath from yours. He bends down, running his hands up your thighs to grasp your hips. You almost whine at how goddamn good he looks staring up at you, his head inches from where you want him the most, if you’re honest with yourself.
In one fluid motion he cups your thighs and lifts you onto his shoulders, your legs over him and your crotch directly in his face. You scream and laugh, grasping the back of his head in your hands to avoid falling. He gives you a wink that only you can see and your shake your head in amusement.
The chorus kicks in, fast and sensual, and he shifts you, spinning you into a bridal style hold.
He moves again, laying you on the floor before tearing off his pants and crawling over you, a hungry look on his face that makes you clench your thighs together.
You’re so captivated by his expression you hardly see what he’s doing with his body. But oh, how you feel it.
His thighs press against yours as he grinds himself into you, balancing the line all male dancers have to between giving the lucky chosen woman what she wants but maintaining enough professional distance to avoid coming on too strong.
Too bad, I want you closer you think, surprising yourself.
He finally finishes and helps you up. From the way he’s breathing heavily and watching you, you know he was thinking the same thing. He thanks you and you walk back to the bar as best as you can without passing out.
‘So, how was it?’ Kat asks.
‘I’m going to need a cold shower as soon as I get home,’ you sigh. ‘Or more  batteries for my vibrator.’
Kat laughs, clapping you on the shoulder. ‘Or you could just fuck him. The man is umm literally drooling on you.’
You lift your eyes skyward, praying for divine assitance.
It goes on like this for days.
Lunches at the taco joint down the street, laughing about tales from your previous jobs and his wild career. Dancing together when the group goes out after work to hit the strip on Thursday night.
Flirting with Jongin is a dangerous game you can’t help but play.
Perhaps its resisting fate, stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the feeling in your chest when he brushes your hair behind your ear one night.
Or perhaps it’s logic, warning you away from what could be disastrous for your sanity. For life as you know it. Watching him grind on other women on stage makes jealousy and possession rise in your chest like a hungry wolf, in a way it never did for Minseok.
It disturbs you how fast this man has blotted out the rest of your life, and you can’t figure out how to feel about it.
Sunday arrives and once again you watch Jongin dance, feeling like you might combust at any moment from a combination of lust and need and … something decidedly softer.
You take a break as lunch arrives and head to the back room to check your phone. You turn while scrolling through instagram, bumping into a solid form.
This time when Jongin’s arms keep you upright you’re inches from his face. The smell of his cologne and his sweat, the devilish smile on his lips, makes you almost whine out loud.
‘Hey,’ you start with a laugh, but you can’t bring yourself to move.
‘Hey,’ he repeats with a smirk.
Blessedly the back room is empty. You can hear Minseok and Chanyeol laughing distantly and you know they’re entertaining the group while everyone eats. Leaving the two of you all alone back here, for better or worse.
In the silence he lifts his hands to cradle your jaw, his thumbs sweeping across your cheeks. With a sigh you finally succumb to this thing between you, resting your face against his hand and closing your eyes.
‘I love what we have right now, but I don’t just want to flirt with you,’ he says softly. ‘And I’m not just trying to sleep with you, I want more.’
Once again he surprises you with his guilelessness, speaking the truth with no hint of shame. He waits until you open your eyes to continue.
‘I want you to be mine. Will you let me take you for dinner tomorrow?’
Your heart feels like it turns into liquid butter. You shrug and say, ‘Okay.’
‘Okay?’ he asks, confusion once again turning his face boyish and adorable.
You laugh and drop your hands to hold onto his hips. ‘Okay.’
You nod. Simple as that. Perhaps you knew the day you met him that this is where things would lead. Or maybe it’s just that Vegas magic. Either way, you’ll take it.
He smiles in response, wrapping his arms around you, pulling your face into his neck and sighing in satisfaction.
A moment later he pulls back, cupping your neck with his hand and pressing his lips to yours without waiting any longer. He kisses softer than you’d expect from his dancing. Steadily working his mouth against yours until you relax and soften in his arms.
You move your hands to his neck, tangling them in his hair and gently tugging on his lower lip. He grins against you, sliding his tongue along the seam of your lips seeking entrance.
His hands slide down your sides, trailing heat in their wake, heading for your hips. You moan into his mouth as his strong hands slip under the edge of your shirt and caress the skin of your lower back.
The two of you kiss for what feels like days in the quiet, dark back room. Days could have passed and you wouldn’t have even noticed. Eventually he pulls back and gives you a grin.
After a beat you speak. ‘Okay, but could we do both the sex and the relationship, I’m about to die from how badly I want you.’
He laughs against your hair, a low sound that surrounds you. Pulling his head back he meets your gaze, heat evident in his expression.
Slowly he presses you against the wall, his arousal clearly evident against your thigh.
‘Come with me,’ he says with a suggestive raise of his brows, clasping your hand in his.
‘More than happy to,’ you quip, earning you another laugh from him as he leads you into one of the changing rooms.

Sometimes Good Enough Just Ain’t Good Enough: 10 Challenges For The Yankees Going Forward
Joey
October 21st
At the end of the year, 29 teams will head into the latter stages of the Fall simply saying they weren't good enough. On Saturday night, it was the Yankees turn to stand up, look in the mirror and say "Not good enough" as they bowed out of the ALCS in the deciding sixth game of the series. When you win 100 games, survive countless injuries, win with a sweep in the ALDS and lose on a walk off in game 6 of the ALCS it's normally a successful season but this is New York where expectations aren't the same as Milwaukee, Oakland, St. Louis or any of the teams who played into October before finally saying "Not good enough!" as they hung up their hats. The Yankees expect championships and it's sometimes mutant fanbase (of which I am firmly a member of) are now going on 10 years of no ticker tape parades. Still let's not lose ourselves to delirium and point out that this is a damn good team with a deep core and plenty of organizational depth to take the next step. The Yankees aren't falling off or in a rebuild; they have a team that guarantees every October, they'll be talking about the chase for 28 in earnest. With the season in the rear view mirror, let's chit chat about ten things the Yankees have to do or figure out as they continue that chase for 28.
1. Fire the training staff
Easy enough! Injuries can sometimes be fluky but good lord, the Yankees were besieged with them. All three starting outfielders (Judge, Stanton, Hicks) saw IL time, their back up OFs saw IL time, their starting catcher saw IL time, starting 1B saw IL time, pitchers both high on the totem pole and in the jabroni ranks went on the IL. Clean house!
2. The same ol' same ol' scramble for a lead starter
Since the end of 2016 when the rebuild was officially over, this team has been chasing  the #1 starter you normally need in the post season. At the end of the day, it's just easier to win in the playoffs when you have a game 1 starter you have endless confidence in. While Boston got away with it in 2018, they also had Chris Sale who maybe didn't pitch like an ace but was clearly one of the top 5 starters in the AL that year.  The big myth is that the Yankees don't have good starting pitching and that is for the most part a lie. The Yankees pitching after the All Star break was pretty solid and in the playoffs they got quality enough from guys like Severino, Paxton and Tanaka on an inconsistent basis. The Yankees pitching rotation is NOT awful and plenty of teams would kill for a 1-2-3 of a healthy Louis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka in big games and James Paxton after the All Star Break where he went 10-3 with a 3.59 ERA and an 11 K/9. In the playoffs, Paxton was more good than bad and Tanaka shoved in two of the three games he pitched in. That said those three have all battled injuries (Paxton admittedly pitched with a knee he never quite felt great about) and all three of them weren't good enough in the playoffs. Maybe that changes with Severino healthy, Paxton more comfortable and Tanaka staying his usual course but it would be difficult to return with the same rotation in tact and say you feel confident about your chances against the Astros. This has been a chase that has spanned three years now as the Yankees tried with James Paxton, Sonny Gray and J.A Happ, were outbit on the likes of Carlos Quintana, Yu Darvish and Gerritt Cole and allegedly never tried for the likes of Marcus Stroman, Patrick Corbin, Justin Verlander and countless others. 2019 will be yet another year where they'll enter Christmas hoping to have a starter locked up.
The two obvious names will play next week when Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg take the bump for Houston and Washington respectively. In the Yankees of old, George Steinbrenner would hand Brian Cashman a blank check and tell him to pay for one IF not both. Time's have changed for better and/or worse with the Yankees. Brian Cashman is a man of due diligence and a man with the longest leash in sports. The Yankees didn't spend on Corbin, didn't try on Harper and made a modicum of effort for Manny Machado last year. In the free agent market, they're likely to not play heavily unless Hal Steinbrenner pretty much demands it.  Paying for Cole and Strasburg is the easier fix but it's an avenue they've shied away from recently plus there are teams who "need" those guys more. The Yankees probably aren't as desperate as, say, the Angels are to win in the Mike Trout era and they've got money to play with so why not? The solution may be the trade market where the Yankees can make some hay in their search for a #1. Brian Cashman has parlayed his farm system (which is still plenty deep) into the opportunity to trade for arms in the past which figures to once again be the case. Conversely in the trade market, the farm is thinner than it's been in recent years AND Cashman prides himself on not losing trades. Also there's not much TO trade out there. Obviously it's his job as a GM to go out and find a potential solution that maybe the public hasn't heard is available but right now who is the best starter knowing that the Mets and the Yankees won't trade? It's not a robust market.
So your solutions are to pull a rabbit out of your hat or pay or hope Severino becomes an ace again after an injury plagued season. I suppose the only potential opt out route would be to sign a Hyun Jin-Ryu or a Jake Odorizzi and hope you can just build a deep rotation of names and faces that will give you quantity (while not high end quality) at the end of it.
3. Figure out Luke Voit
Let's play a game.
Player A- .333/.405/.689 195 wRC+ 14 HR 26.4% K rate Player B- .280/.393/.509 140 wRC+ 19 HR 25.8% K rate Player C- .238/.348/.368 95 wRC+ 4 HR 32.3% K rate
Player A is Luke Voit during his 2018 run with the Yankees Player B is Luke Voit up until he got hurt in the London Series Player C is Luke Voit from July 12th to the end of the year
Voit will never be the guy who took over the MLB in 2018. The sample size was bound to even itself out over time and Voit was bound to cool off when pitchers got to know him better. Player B though is a borderline All Star level first basemen. A power hitter who could hit for average, got on base at a solid clip and play a somewhat manageable first base is an asset for any team but especially a Yankees squad that has been hungry for competent first base play since injuries robbed Mark Texeira of his ability. Then? Voit got hurt. Back issues limited down the stretch and as you can tell by the numbers, Player C was awful. He just looked timid and afraid like he had been sapped of his confidence entirely. Luke Voit got left off the ALCS roster and had to watch as the offense struggled without him. Imagine a confident and healthy Luke Voit at the DH spot instead of Edwin Encarnacion when he went ice cold in the ALCS and maybe the series is a bit different. The Yankees are saddled with determining which half of the Luke Voit story is the real one. The Yankees are a better team when DJ LeMahieu is freed up to play 2B where he's an insanely elite defender and Luke Voit could help in that regard. At the same time? The Yankees have been burnt in the past by gambling at 1B (like when they kept thinking Greg Bird would finally put it together) and options would help. Even if he ran out of gas, Edwin Encarnacion did some good work when he was healthy and few dudes hit dingers the way he does when he's locked in. There's also Greg Bird I guess? Which reminds me....
4. MAYBE chase better balance
I don't believe a team gets better by marrying itself to letters next to names ie: we have to have x amount of leties in our pen. I do think that the Yankees righty heavy lineup could use some better balance. The team was batting Gardner 3rd in the playoffs despite his inability to do much of anything for stretches because they felt like they needed someone to break up the righties at the top of the bill. With two lefties about to hit free agency, maybe the Yankees need to flirt a bit with shaking things up in their lineup. Getting back a healthy Hicks would help of course but in general, this team could benefit from having maybe one more competent lefty bat especially if Did is out of here. It's not the sexiest name alive but given Voit's struggles down the stretch and the fact that they could probably use a more competent 1B defensively, maybe Mitch Moreland (former Red Sox 1B) as a back up/defensive replacement could make sense. Coming off an injury plagued season where he was still pretty damn productive vs righties. Maybe this is even where Mike Ford (who caught on late) fits as a future part of the team.
5. Figure out your free agents
Dellin Betances- There's some serious rebound value in bringing Betances back at fair market value. The Yankees just never had a replacement for what Betances could do as a pseudo fireman; a guy with low contact rates who can K a side and come in the middle of an inning to calm things down. Betances at a multi year deal would be a fair and modest investment.
Brett Gardner- There's a group of mutant Yankee fans who hate Brett Gardner and I feel like people forget Gardner was supposed to be at the very most a part time 4th OF. Injuries forced Gardner to continually play and he answered the bell quite well every time. He'll likely take a step back next year BUT he'll also be asked to play less.
Edwin Encarnacion- Was absolutely brutal in the ALCS but hits for power and usually has composed at bats. Was always a hired gun who the Yankees were probably gonna buy out when the time was right.
Didi Gregorios- Ugh. Didi went from being one of Brian Cashman's biggest steals and a potential cornerstone to a guy who will probably be allowed to test the open market. Didi's strengths are his defense, his clubhouse presence and his better than advertised bat but the Yankees have been waiting on him to take a firm step into top 10 SS for about two years now and it's not coming. He deserves a lot of credit for battling back from injury but he was brutal outside of games vs the Twins. I also sort of feel like his approach is all wrong for the Yankees as its constructed. For a team that preaches patience at the place and commanding the strike zone, Didi's approach often gets worse the more pitches he takes so he often swings at the first pitch and often does so when it's the wrong time. Defensively it looked like he took a step back as well although that may have been due to injury. The Yankees are better with DJ at 2nd and Gleyber at short and a competent 1B manning that spot but they love Didi so much (and he's so valuable when he's right) that they kept forcing him into the spot.
Austin Romine- Catching across the league is bad and Romine, noodle arm aside, is a solid back up catcher. Those tend to get signed for decent coin and normally for multi year deals. As such the Yankees need to maybe consider their options at the BUC spot because they won't have Romine.
Cameron Maybin- I'm not entirely sure Maybin's got a real fit here now. If Stanton, Judge and Hicks are healthy then it's probably him vs Gardner because Mike Tauchman has a long term future here. I wish Cameron Maybin well, he was a breath of fresh of air in the locker room and he deserves to have a good spot on a team somewhere.
6. Figure your outfield situation out
We know Judge, Stanton and Hicks are going to be here. Mike Tauchman was a star and a half for a month and change before injuries finally sapped him of his super powers. Gardner is a free agent but I'm betting the Yankees will bring him back comfortably so. Beyond them you have Estevan Florial (a former Yankees top prospect on a slide), Clint Frazier (a borderline toxic fit for the Yankees) as well as pseudo OFs Tyler Wade and Thairo Estrada. The Yankees OF depth tends to get tested throughout the year but is Clint Frazier better suited to be a trade piece for some team in desperate need of an outfielder?
7. Settle the 'pen out a bit.
Yankees have four tremendous bullpen arms tied up with Britton, Ottavino, Green and Kahnle comfortably under wraps. Aroldis Chapman will probably opt out in a so-so closer's market and the Yankees will probably re-sign him (they took the PR smear after trading for him and then brought him back so clearly they value him). If not? Britton was an ace closer but in general the bullpen needs more arms. Remember the CLOSEST they got for a trade in July was for Bluejays closer Ken Giles so I'd imagine they'll poke around there too. If you can't find a starter of high quality and won't trade for one then you need one more big arm in the pen. It'd be pretty cool to both a) get a stud reliever and b) hurt your primary rivalries by signing either Joe Smith or Will Harris from under Houston.
8. Find a role for whatever J.A. Happ is.
The Yankees got ace level production of J.A. Happ when they had him in 2018 and even including his playoff bust vs Boston, bringing him back in some form or fashion seemed like a can't miss concept. Well it done missed. Pick whatever metric you want and Happ was genuinely bad for a Yankees team that desperately needed him to ONLY be a competent arm. He did improve as the season went along (imagine how awful he had to be that his last five starts with a 2.33 ERA that it managed to ONLY finish at a sub 5 ERA) and a lot of his game felt like it was just blitzed by the juiced ball and a lack of adapting to that. Happ is still under contract for 2020 and it's going to be hard to shake his deal so you're stuck with him. Figure out I guess if he's a long man, a 5th starter or a really overly expensive LOOGY type.
9. Battle royal the 5th spot
Keeping with that, the Yankees were roasted for their lack of SP depth and it showed up big last year. The fact that this team turned to an opener and wound up riding the likes of Chance Adams and Nestor Cortes as long men suggests they got got by the lack of options in the rotation. Turn the 5th spot into a battle royal position. Jordan Montgomery, J.A. Happ, Johnny Lasagna, a few retreads on other teams who are a tinkered arm angle away from being a competent 5th starter etc etc etc. Don't go into the year just figuring your minor league depth options are going to be enough because it probably won't be.
Unless you want to sign Zack Wheeler or Jake Odorizzi and be done with it.
10. Accept Gary Sanchez
I guess this is more for Yankees fans than anybody else. Gary Sanchez is a good catcher. Offensively when he's healthy, he's among the game's best and defensively? He's actually improving really well to be one of the better catches in the AL. He has a crazy throwing arm and while stolen bases are becoming less frequent, he's still got the ability to further mitigate that.  Sanchez is a good player who plays the most physically demanding position in baseball and does a good job at it. His playoff numbers were abysmal this year but I still have faith.

100 Days Study Plan for GRE Exam
It is more effective to split your days in minutes and whole plan in days rather than months. It will give you more mental strength if you divide your days in minutes because a day contains 1440 minutes but the number of hours is 24. It’s a psychological point that more numbers help our brain to make the plan proper, convenient and achievable one. Another thing to ace the GRE is regularity; probably it is the key point to success in GRE. All of us start GRE with a great enthusiasm and vigor but over the time it becomes abated due to proper plan, True Guide and obviously lack of regularity. Another big enemy is Procrastination, we make plan but never finish it properly. The unfinished tasks create pressure; mental pressure creates frustration and frustration kills our dream & enthusiasm. Try to follow 80/20 rules to avoid procrastination, that means try to finish most important and tough one first: at the opening of the day. It will give you mental serenity.
And try to find a True Guide who is a mentor, motivator, planner, austere to plan and home work and obviously the best wisher of your journey and struggle. Without a mentor your journey will be like a ship without a captain. So find him or her wisely.

Time management:
Daily you need to study 7-8 hours and 700-800 hours in total for GRE preparation (it’s only my suggestion, it may vary from person to person)
Verbal: 180-240 minutes (in two intervals): Word 60 minutes, Reading habit 60-90 minutes, problem solving 60 minutes
Quant: 180-240 minutes (in two intervals): Basic build up & Strategies 60-90 minutes, practice 60-90 minutes, Error log analysis 30 minutes.
AWA: 30-60 minutes (after basic build up practice 1 Issue task or 1 Argument task).
Study Plan:
First 1-10 days plan
1. Deactivate all your social media account for God sake for these 100 days. Nothing will happen if you are not present in social media. Stop thinking yourself special.
2. If you want to make a noticeable difference, you need to hibernate yourself for these 100 days. So hibernate yourself from all distractions (if possible from your BF or GF
Tumblr media
)
3. Go to ets.org/gre website. Peruse all things like topics, question pattern, exam pattern etc. Make yourself very familiar with the website and topic as well.
4. Watch my 3 videos named (A) Introduction to GRE Quantitative Reasoning (B) Introduction to GRE Verbal (C) All about GRE Scoring on my Stalin’s GRE YouTube Channel.
5. Make familiar with ETS books and peruse the Qs.
6.  Familiar yourself with Algebra from Manhanttan 1-6, Magoosh video lessons.
7. You can use khan academy for basics.
8. Practice Algebra from Official Quant guide.
9. Practice Algebra from Manhattan 5lb
10. Read First 100 vocabulary from Magoosh 1000
11. Last day, revise all things properly.
Days 11-20
1. Practice typing in keybr.com. Try to make it 40 WPM (word per minute) because in GRE exam you have to face Analytical writing section at the very beginning, where you need to write at least 400-600 words for each section. That means you have to write 800-1200 words in 1 hour for better score. That is why typing speed is very crucial for AWA.
2. Familiar yourself with Arithmetic and do practice from ETS quant guide.
3. Familiar yourself with Arithmetic from Manhanttan 1-6 & Magoosh video lessons.
4. Practice Arithmetic from Official Quant guide.
5. Practice Arithmetic from Manhattan 5lb
6. Read 101-200 vocabulary from Magoosh Basic words
7. Read “The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho”, then make a review of it and note unknown words.
8. Make familiar with Verbal reasoning topics from ETS Verbal reasoning guide book.
Days 21-30
1. Doing well in Reading comprehension section you need to build your reading skill with time. Go to readtheory and try to go up to 12 level.
2.  Start reading “Elements of Style by Willium Stunk jr.” for grammar. You know, without strong command in Grammar section you never do well in verbal section as well as in AWA section. One thing, this book is the best book as per my recommendation for verbal and AWA.
3. Start reading “Word power made easy by Norman Lewis” for contextual vocabulary. This is the most powerful book for vocabulary.
4. Familiar yourself with Triangle and Quadrilateral from Manhattan 1-6 and magoosh lessons. You can follow khan academy for basics also.
5. Practice Triangle and Quadrilateral problem from ETS quant guide and 5lb. You can also practice Geometry from NOVA GRE math bible. This book is particularly good for geometry section.
6. Read 201-300 vocabulary from magoosh basic.
7. Practice first 10 TC and SE from Official Verbal guide.
8. Read “The kite runner by Khaled Hosseini” and make a review & note unknown words.
9. Read two article from scientific American and History today and follow my format of reading article. You can find it from my Stalin’s GRE group post.
You can make it complete by yourself or to reveal the full plan (Days 01 to 100) you can join with me. Thank you.

5 Productivity Boosts You Can Unlock in Microsoft 365
New Post has been published on https://www.aheliotech.com/blog/productivity-boosts-microsoft-365/
5 Productivity Boosts You Can Unlock in Microsoft 365
When companies adopt the cloud, they’re often doing so to improve efficiency and productivity. Some are successful in fully utilizing their cloud solutions, but many businesses miss out on important features that could save them time and money because they don’t know about them.
One of the most popular cloud productivity platforms is Microsoft 365. It’s a vast environment of both familiar tools like Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint as well as newer cloud enablement apps like OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint.
As of June 2021, over 731,500 U.S. companies relied on Microsoft 365 as a core business tool.
Because Microsoft 365 has so many integrated apps and those apps are always getting AI-powered updates, it’s easy for companies to miss some really big efficiency boosts.
We’ve got several of those features listed below that can step up your company’s use of Microsoft 365 and help your team do more in less time. Plus, all of these are native with a Microsoft 365 business account (not add-ons), so you’re not paying anything additional to get them.
Microsoft 365 Productivity Tips & Tricks
Excel Data Types
Excel Data Types is a feature that connects your Excel spreadsheet to multiple databases of information on several topics. These include things like food nutritional facts, medical coding information, location and terrain data, and much more.
Instead of having your team spend hours online searching for data on a particular subject, like nutritional counts for a menu, you can populate your spreadsheet with the data you need in just seconds.
Here’s how to use them.
In Excel, type your data into a column, then highlight those cells.
Click Data from the top menu.
In the Data Types window choose your type of data (i.e. if you’ve typed different foods, choose “Foods”).
Your data is turned into a data type.
Click the small database icon that appears at the top of your first selected cell.
Choose the value want, and it will be populated into the first open column on the right for all cells selected.
See a full list of Data Types databases you can access here.
Use Productivity Score to Track Remote Team Productivity
If you have a Microsoft 365 business account, then you have access to a tool that gives you a bird’s eye view of multiple areas of productivity throughout your organization.
Productivity score gives you team-based insights on several features of productivity, such as how efficient virtual meetings are and if employees are adopting efficient practices, such as sending links to files in emails rather than attachments.
This is an excellent way to see areas where remote team productivity can be optimized. You can access this app in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
Empty Your Inbox and Keep Things Consolidated with OneNote
Some Microsoft 365 users overlook OneNote, thinking it’s similar to something like Notepad on their Windows PC. But this handy app is a powerful productivity-boosting tool that can organize, record meetings, enable collaboration, and much more.
OneNote allows you to create shared or private virtual notebooks and pages which can collect all types of data on a project or subject. This includes things like
Website links
Emails
Images
Videos
Audio recordings
And more
OneNote is searchable, making it easy to find a notebook or page that you need. It can eliminate time spent searching for information that might be stored in an email, on a sticky note, in an SMS conversation, etc.
OneNote digital notebook
Outlook Quick Parts
People spend about 28% of their workday reading and replying to emails. It’s not usual to have certain emails that use the same information. The user may have to retype it each time or search out the last email with that info and then copy/paste it in.
There’s a faster way to do this in Outlook through a feature called Quick Parts. Quick Parts allow you to save blocks of text from an email and keep the formatting. You can then insert that text anywhere you like in another email just by clicking on it.
How to Save Text:
When editing an email message, highlight the text you’d like to save.
Click Insert.
Click Quick Parts, under the Text area
Choose “Save Selection to Quick Part Gallery…”
Name your saved text block
How to Use Quick Parts Text
When writing an email, put your cursor where you’d like to insert the text.
Click Insert > Quick Parts.
Choose the saved text block you want to use.
It will insert into your message.
Ask for What You Need in the Top Search Bar
When in the main Office applications, such as Word, you’ll often end up wasting time searching through the vast menu to find something simple, like how to edit margins.
Instead, let the platform take you where you need to go by using the very top search bar.
For example, just type “margins” and you’ll be taken to the function you need. This works for all types of things like inserting images in Outlook email messages and much more and will save you tons of time.

Underappreciated: 2003-2004 Infiniti M45
Welcome to Underappreciated, a showcase for outlier vehicles from the late 20th and early 21st centuries, cars that presented fresh ideas or innovative technologies but failed to connect with consumers then and remain undervalued (read: bargains) today.
Infiniti was a bit troubled at the end of the 1990s. Unlike its competitors from Toyota (Lexus) and Honda (Acura), after its first decade in the U.S. market Nissan’s upscale brand had failed to crack the magic 100,000 annual sales mark. In an effort to boost its fortunes and image, the brand added the midsize M45 (internal code Y34) sedan in 2003.
“The M45 was available for only the 2003 and 2004 model years, in which a total of 8,067 were sold.”
The M was intended to patch a medium-size hole in the Infiniti sedan lineup, slotting between the smaller G and the larger Q. Like similar vehicles from its German and Japanese brethren—E-Class, 5 Series, GS—it was a step up from entry level and a step down from top tier. But its core play was its performance-to-price ratio. With a base price of just $42,300 and a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V-8 from the Q-ship providing 340 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque, it was close in output to high-test executive sedans from the likes of Mercedes-Benz’s AMG or Jaguar’s R subbrands but at a cost closer to their basic six-cylinder models.
“The M45 had the power and performance of the Q45 flagship, as well as many of its luxury appointments, in a lighter, less expensive package,” says Kyle Bazemore, director of communications for Infiniti North America. “And the output of the M45’s V-8 was quite impressive—in fact, one of the highest power ratings of any standard, non-specialty engine on the market at the time.”
Featuring a bit less mass than its big brother, the M45 was able to hustle to 60 mph in about 5.7 seconds, which was quite an achievement for the time. Perhaps more important than this was the way the M45 looked. The sedan had a beveled front and rear, muscularly rounded flanks, and a pert if lengthily overhanging tail that conspired to give it a kind of sneering American menace. It looked like a modern interpretation of something Elwood Engel (Chrysler’s design chief during the mid-’60s) might have penned, along the lines of a scaled down Imperial Crown sedan: angular, squatting, wide-eyed, and ready to roar.
“It doesn’t look like anything else, I knew it was rare. But nobody knows what it is.”
“It doesn’t look like anything else,” says Joe Wu, a 19-year-old college student at University of California, Riverside, who stumbled into buying the 2004 M45 you see here for $3,000 when he was looking for a Lexus LS 400 to act as his daily driver, a way to keep miles off his 1986 Toyota MR2. (The M45 has roughly 131,000 on the odo). “I knew it was rare. But nobody knows what it is, so I thought it was interesting.”
Joe Wu has changed the car’s bumper and grille, rebadging it as a Nissan, and added chrome-ringed snowflake wheels to give it a tuner JDM feel. He’s also worked on the interior, locating hard-to-find trim bits and veneer.
Alas, this contentious design was in many ways the car’s Achilles’ heel, as it didn’t resemble anything else in the Infiniti lineup. This wasn’t exactly out of the ordinary. For much of the brand’s first decade, its styling was somewhat grab-baggy in its diffusion—a blocky convertible next to a sleek executive sedan next to an inflated truck-based SUV next to a spruced-up front-drive commuter. This was the result of Nissan’s proclivity for poaching an existing if sometimes outmoded Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicle, stuffing in a bigger engine, and slapping on a gaudy Infiniti badge. This was certainly the origin story for the M, which began its life as a V-6-powered Nissan Gloria. Sadly, the M’s retro-inspired styling, while au courant in the industry at the time, with VW’s New Beetle and Ford’s Thunderbird redux, didn’t sit well with customers who were in the market for a contemporary Japanese near-luxury offering.
What those customers apparently wanted was a high-riding, cramped, all-wheel-drive hatchback shaped like a creasy high-top sneaker. Something like the trendsetting Infiniti FX sporty crossover, introduced about the same time. Although annual sales of the Y34 generation of M45 peaked at just more than 4,500 units in 2003, the FX immediately sold at an annual rate of around 30,000.
“The M45 was available for only the 2003 and 2004 model years, in which a total of 8,067 were sold,” Bazemore says. “Each of these represented incremental sales to Infiniti, which would undoubtedly be lost to other luxury brands. But for 2005, the Infiniti M line was completely redesigned to have more of a familial look with the [then-recently] introduced G sport sedan and FX performance crossover.”
This new sedan (internal code Y50) featured smaller exterior dimensions, more interior space, and a more conventional and amorphous design. Consumers responded by buying 24,000 of them in the first year. All of this conspires to make the Y34 not only relatively uncommon but also a car that many people are entirely unaware of. This will work in your favor if you want to buy one.
Joe Wu’s upgrades to his Infiniti include BC coil-overs with adjustable dampers.
These cars were pretty loaded when new, featuring lots of leather and wood, sophisticated tech such as xenon headlamps, speed-sensitive steering, laser-distance cruise control, heated and cooled front seats, and a signature garish Infiniti analog clock. Still, searching online automotive listings revealed a number of well-cared-for cars with less than 100,000 miles trading in the mid-four-figure range. This low price will net you a thrilling and exclusive competitor to Aughties Germans. Plus, it will provide a point of access to those cool vintage Japanese car shows.
“It has a definitive ‘JDM’ look that captures the eyes of tuners that grew up with Japanese hot hatches and who chose domestic-market-only cars to ‘drive’ in ‘Gran Turismo,’” Bazemore says.
Wu has other, more practical reasons for recom-mending a purchase. And higher hopes. “It’s signif-icantly cheaper to buy than an LS—everyone knows about the LS and how popular and reliable it is,” Wu says. “But so far, the M45 has been really reliable. Even though it’s a rare car, it shares a lot of parts with other Nissan cars, so parts aren’t hard to come by and not that pricey. And I think it has the potential to become a future classic because of how rare it is. Once people get to know about how unique and rare it is, they’ll come to appreciate it.”
