Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO, KStJ, CD (Michael George Charles Franklin; born 4 July 1942 -) is a member of the British royal family, who is 52nd in the line of succession to the British throne as of May 2023. Queen Elizabeth II and Michael were first cousins through their fathers, King George VI, and Prince George, Duke of Kent. He announced his retirement from public life in June 2022 as he approached his 80th birthday.

Prince Michael would occasionally represent Queen Elizabeth II at some functions in Commonwealth realms outside the United Kingdom during her reign. Otherwise, he manages his own consultancy business and undertakes various commercial work around the world. He has also presented some television documentaries on the royal families of Europe.

In 1978 he married Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz and together have two children. He is a qualified Russian interpreter and also speaks fluent French as well as having a "working knowledge" of German and Italian. OK, I guess it's official. I'm a royalty fucker. Among the distinguished guests were H.R.H Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Michael of Kent, who graced the occasion with their regal presence. Prince Michael, a member of the British Royal Family, holds a significant place in the lineage, being a paternal first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and a grandson of King George V and Queen Mary. Prior to the grand event, a unique portrait of Prince Michael was commissioned at the London Studio, evoking a sense of history and tradition.

Prince Michael of Kent bears an uncanny resemblance to his great grandfather, Edward VII. Inspired by a portrait from Edward VII's era, the decision was made to capture a profile shot reminiscent of the king's military portraits. The chosen approach, with its harsh lighting, aimed to maintain a certain level of intensity while highlighting Prince Michael's distinguished features.

As Colonel of the King's Royal Hussars, Prince Michael's first set of portraits featured him adorned in his regimental uniform.
