A thief and her friend who steal from the rich to save her dying father are caught, and offered a deal by the Governor for her father’s life and their freedom, if they travel to another country to steal from the royal treasury

she has to impersonate a noble lady and compete to become the arrogant king’s new spouse, staying in the competition long enough to figure out a way to pull off their heist, with her friends as undercover servants and the Governor’s assassin watching over her as a handmaiden

#Natural Outlaws and Fractured Sovereignty #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #Overall I enjoyed this! #It’s very much like. typical fake royalty/heist/competition YA-NA kind of narrative BUT without romance which honestly I can get behind #It’s a bit messy in places - especially the start and end where it’s not within the main fake-royalty-heist plot #It very much starts with an almost suicide attempt and she talks him down and then they’re friends and thieving together #It’s not quite apparent how long has passed until later when it mentions they’ve been friends for two years #I think it would have been much better to just start in the present and then flashback to that scene at some other point. #Also the POVs are quite inconsistent - she has most of the POV he just has one every now and then when it’s plot relevant #Which makes starting the book on his POV feel odd. #It definitely skips over action or pivotal moments like. a lot. like most of what should be the most pivotal action scenes lol #(If you’re looking for a heist in here most of the plot is faking royalty & gathering info but the Actual Heist is pretty much off page) #I feel like i could have had some more worldbuilding and about some of the side characters #the qpr is a bit show not tell. but also basically what you expect from the central relationship of this kind of book if it were a romance #BUT yeah overall I did enjoy this - and as I said I do appreciate This Sort Of Story But It Doesn’t Have Romance a lot! #And an aromantic MC! I think I didn’t have the highest expectations for this but I ended up having a good time.

qpr alastor/rosie/vox sillies, from the universe of my au:

alastor walks in on rosie & vox kissing once and makes a sound of startled horror so high pitched that it blows out vox's speakers and deafens him for a week. rosie's fine tho

alastor and rosie always cook together while vox sits at the table (exiled from kitchen for food crimes) and watches them with hearts for eyes

rosie dresses up al & vox like dolls

when all three of them dance together, vox and alastor make a game out of trading rosie back and forth in increasingly competitive ways as part of an ongoing argument over who the better lead is (it's rosie)

vox's stance on cannibalism is "if it doesn't look or taste like human flesh then don't tell me what's in it" and rosie/al let him live in a world of blissful ignorance about what exactly goes into those cannibal town pastries

when alastor is in a touch averse mood he'll put up a pillow barrier between himself and rosie/vox cuddling in bed so he can still be close without being uncomfortable

all three of them get into spirited debates about tv vs radio vs literature as the best medium for entertainment

vox is frequently rendered insensate with flustered shock every time he sees rosie or alastor dressing up for any occasion. sometimes they coordinate this on purpose just to watch vox go speechless & his entire screen turn bright pink

SUBMIT SHIPS HERE A couple guidelines for submissions;

I'm accepting both canon and fanon ships, but for the latter you have to sell them to me! Explain how they could be interpreted as a pining couple, (I know I sound like a demanding boss here, sorry uyfrewu)

Obviously the canon couples still have to have pined for several years before getting together to fit into this competition. I'm still a bit iffy on how long so for now ill say 7 years is the minimum? This may change, and I may allow ships that are underneath that number

For fanon they need to have known eachother for 7+ years The pining can be onesided, as long as it has lasted for 7+ years. A good example would be katniss and peeta from the hunger games, where only peeta was pining for a while, but id still allow them :)

Blu team guys v inspired by other blu team interpretations I’ve seen (Quazies, Emmet, several fanfics).

Basically after the spy head was kidnapped and studied, the cat was out of the bag that Blu team is made up of clones with some genetic variations. They share the same memories as the Red team prior to the gravel wars, but red team cannot completely rule out that both teams arent made up of clones. Plus they get paid to kill each other repeatedly, so they go on fighting as normal except with some existentialism

General BLU team differences:

though the teams are more or less matched, BLU tends to lose more battles

Members are a lot more scarred up than Red on account that they got the technology for the medigun after red did

Heavy | Boris: Big Brother of the team. Very sociable and fond of the other members. If you have a problem, you go to Boris about it. His English is a little limited, but he's a great listener. He has a penchant for gardening. Gay for Blu Medic, but more in a QPR way.

Demo | Malcolm DeGroot: Less an alcoholic, more a workaholic. Quite obsessed with perfecting his craft as a demoman. Constantly urging everyone to work harder on the battlefield. The only way to get him to take time off is by dragging him kicking and screaming. Works closely with the Engineer on projects. Takes great pride in the payload bombs.

Medic | Hans Ludwig: much more socially awkward and timid in battle than the Red Medic. He prioritizes his work and ability to support the team way more than his own health. Only really opens up with Heavy and Engie, and sometimes Pyro. Gay for blu heavy and engie. (I called him Victor before but the name hans grew on me sry for the confusion)

Soldier | John Doe: Very goofy but in a more self aware way. He plays into his identity as a soldier, but doesn't take it quite as seriously as Red. He has a strong passion for animals and the wilderness. Would love to work as a national park ranger someday. He likes photographing wild animals and landscapes. Gay for Red Demo.

Sniper | Sammy Mundy: A rather polite young man. Sure he throws piss jars on the battlefield, but he's very respectful to his teammates. Takes a lot of care to keep his living space tidy. Washes his hands very thoroughly after every battle.

Pyro: Really not too different from Red's Pyro, mainly in that we know very little about them. Uses sign language to communicate (mainly with Engie and Spy).

Spy: Originally behaved much more like the Red spy, but experiencing firsthand the experiments that confirmed they were clones made him weird and existential. He became particularly more involved in the Blu Scout's life.

Scout | Chase: Quieter than Red's Scout most of the time, but becomes hella competitive on the battlefield. Very artistically inclined, and is particularly into street art. Looks up to Heavy and Spy.

Engie | Sid Conagher: Probably the closest thing the team has to a leader. MUCH less sociable than Red engie, though he's got the best head on his shoulders and takes his job very seriously. Gay for Blu Medic.

Phil is a damn good kisser and it lives in Missa's head rent free

But Missa's lips are soft as hell and that lives in Phil's head rent free so actually they're both winning here

It's no secret Missa's down abysmal. He wants Phil the way Fitza has had each other. Phil knows he has a romantic crush, he does not know he is desired that carnally.

Missa has an innate talent for unintentionally reminding Phil how nice it is to be hugged and held and physically loved, especially when dealing with extensive amounts of stress

Dare I say they are the "babe hold my flower" "I've got your flower babe, go kick their ass" couple. And that works both ways, they will both hold the flower AND beat someone's ass

It took a long time for Phil to get fully comfortable with it, but he trusts Missa enough to help him preen his feathers and take care of his wings

Speaking of wing care, Missa is going to be so horrified and guilty at the sight of Phil's wings post-possession bc he wasn't there to help Phil :) It's not his fault, but he'll think so anyway, just like Phil does with things <3

Phil has yet to see Missa genuinely pissed off at something for an extended period of time but those who have known him longer like Roier have told him stories and he wants to see it SO BAD. Angry life partner hot.

Phil absolutely loves how easy it is to fluster Missa. And it's not only easy bc of the crush. Which makes Missa SO salty bc if Phil could understand Spanish well enough, oh my god the shade of red Missa could make him turn.

here's how it's gonna work.

All 118 elements, 1v1 polls, until we figure out tumblrs favourite element.

Because 118 isn't a power of 2, the first 10 elements get to skip to round 2.

If you've got a fun fact or a great photo for an element and you wanna save me some time please send them to me in asks or whatever, there's a lot of them so I'd be happy for any assistance
