I was already a fan of @kingofbingo, and now I have even more reason to be: he is dynamite as activist/strategist/organizer #BayardRustin in @rustinmovie, now streaming on @netflix. Directed by #GeorgeCWolfe, Rustin features an all-star cast of other faves including #GlynnTurman, @audramcdonald, @cchpounder @mpotts62 and @jfreewright, who is perfect as fiery Harlem Congressman #AdamClaytonPowellJr.

Note

If I activate inkmoth nexus to make a 1/1 artifact flyer with infect, then I activate Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas's second ability. What happens at end of turn and beyond? I know if you activate Inkmoth again that it will become a 1/1 and overwrite Tezzeret, but what if I do nothing?

Once Inkmoth Nexus’s activated ability wears off, it will still be affected by Tezzeret’s ability and thus will be a 5/5 Artifact Creature Land with all its normal abilities. Notably, though, it won’t be a Blinkmoth or have flying or infect.

A while back they release a judge promo of my favorite card, Elesh Norn, which looks like this

I adore this thing but the problem is that’s about ooooh... $550 which means the chances of me getting it anytime soon is very small. It’s truly agonizing to me seeing this version of my favorite card exist and not having a copy myself.

The new snapcaster is another judge promo of a high-end card and already I can see people getting amped up over its new art. So chances are others will want it about as much as I want promo Norn

I’m terrible with computers and inevitably fuck up anything more complicated than “click and install”, even when I follow instructions to the letter. I know that MSE doesn’t run on Macs, if that’s the issue at hand.

What parts seemed “Gross”? What boundaries were crossed from your perspective?

Well, I’m not sure if you’ve seen the movie or not, but I’m just going to speak as though you have and go full spoilers. So! Spoilers below.

For starters, the (ultra)violence was a bit much for me at times. For the most part I thought it was really well-done and extraordinarily choreographed, and the way the scenes were stylized (which I’m not sure I could put my finger on exactly what Vaughn does to those scenes, but it really worked) appealed to me, but occasionally it just got out of hand in my opinion, the church scene being an excellent example. Though I did feel much better about that once it was cleared up that Galahad hadn’t just decided he had had enough of the Westboro Baptist Church I mean what. So that was somewhat a concern. (Also, sometimes in fight scenes and stuff, especially in superhero and superhero-esque movies like this one my brain won’t let go of what the fallout of a fight like the bar fight Galahad gets into near the beginning would be if it took place in the real world. Also how does the world go back to normal so quickly after Valentine’s apocalypse given that probably thousands if not millions of people died in the violence and a good percentage of the world’s leaders all exploded simultaneously?)

I was also less than enthused with the way the female characters were used. One died immediately to make a point, Eggsy’s mom was basically a way of showing his character development and giving him someone to protect, and Roxy, despite getting the Lancelot position over Eggsy (which I was actually surprised by, so good on you there Vaughn), never really amounted to much as a character. And all the stuff she does ends up not mattering at all because of plot voodoo and Eggsy has to fix it all anyway so despite the fact that she’s the real Kingsman she gets second place. And while Valentine’s henchwoman was super badass and I loved her she was also kinda just there. Her legs were knives though so that was good.

And, tying into the generally average (meaning, unfortunately, lackluster) use of female characters, I was really not fond of the sex joke near the end of the movie. The way the conversation began between Eggsy and the Princess was already kinda gross, with him (even jokingly) taking advantage of her and that just totally ramping up to her offering him (anal?? because ????) sex for doing his job was just a total ??? to me. Like, I can see how and why people thought it was funny, but it turned my stomach more than anything.

Also the utter lack of PoC representation in the Kingsman organization itself was kinda weird, but at the same time the movie overall actually had pretty good representation, so it was an interesting parallel and I wonder if it wasn’t partially intentional? Valentine, despite being fucked-up and crazy, was actually a really interesting character and a PoC in a legitimate position of power... I’m not sure if it counts given that he tried to cull the majority of the population, though. Is representation still good representation if the character is evil and probably dangerously psychopathic? I’m not good enough at this kinda stuff to answer that one, so I’ll just shut up about it.

But despite all that stuff I just said I did like the movie. It was really fun, despite the problems I had with it. That’s why I mentioned what I did about my rating only being so low because of those problems. From a standpoint of sheer quality, this movie wins all kinds of awards from me. The acting and cinematography were frankly amazing. The only parts that really looked bad were the special effects, and they were still passable for the most part (I personally like to believe that they wasted the whole SFX budget on the exploding heads at the end and so everything else was kinda shitty as a result).

Anyway, sorry for writing a goddamn essay in response to your question, and I hope this was an interesting and not fucked-up read (and, for that matter, that you’ve actually seen this movie because otherwise this’ll make no sense and I’ll have kinda wasted like twenty minutes of my life typing this).
