18.06.1976 ~ You're My Best Friend comes out as single in the UK! It's the first single by John Deacon and only his second published song, and it's dedicated to his wife Veronica 💕💕💕

I didn’t make this drawing specifically to celebrate YMBF but it was fitting to be posted today so I waited 💖 This was born as a little style exercise, with "my" John and Veronica from Down In The Dungeons, my DnD AU, as they relax under the bloomed trees 🥰 I really hope you like this!

I'd also love to make this a DTIYS if anyone wants to redraw the scene and have some fun with sunlight and flowers! Which is why I did the refs as well. Tag me if you redraw it!

Regarding your Queen fandom post:

Since the release of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, I've been an active part of the Queen fandom. From 2019 to 2022, it was a vibrant community with artists and writers contributing left and right in their own unique ways. Events on platforms like AO3 were frequent, and I had the pleasure of making many amazing online friends, including Nastally, Freesiafields, Bambirex, justapoorboyqueen, Sokkasfirstfangirl, RachelB, and Spongeworthy, among others. It was an incredible experience being a part of such a supportive and creative community. However, over time, some writers removed their work from AO3 or became inactive, which left me nostalgic 😔 I miss them and I often find myself thinking about those old days. Eventually, in 2022, I also stepped away from the fandom, as it became too quiet for me to stay there alone. But I still hold out hope that the Queen fandom will see better days ahead 🤞🏻

I feel that. The movie did bring in a huge wave of new fans of a new generation. I’m 22 on Saturday, but I’ve been a fan of Queen for just over 10 years now. I started my Brian fic in 2019, and I’m still going with it , even though there have been times when I’ve wanted to abandon it and run for the hills.

The Queen fandom has the potential to be as colourful as it once was. Someone just needs to give it a little push. I’m hoping I can help that happen.

May 1989, Queen record "An hour of Queen" with Mike Read, to talk about their newest album "The Miracle" and give fans some news about it and about themselves. One question tickles John's interest, and he decides to do a small, romantic gesture.

For Johnica Week 2024, prompt Radio interview, and kinda “When you love something, you protect it with your entire life. Right now, my guts tell me to do the same.”

Ahhh it's been SO LONG since I wanted to write about John saying Veronica is his favourite song at the moment during that interview! Of course this is all fictional, but I always found it very sweet that, in the big indecision about giving one favourite song, he chose the one with his wife's name. He could've said any other song, literally, but he didn't.

I hope you'll enjoy my silly imagine of how the answer came to be!

Once upon a time there was a young man called John, whose youth brought him far from home like many other boys his age. He was never really eager to travel alone, away from his dear mom and sister, but with a hopeful smile and a promise, he left.

WARNING: Mention/reference of past sexual violence, non descriptive

For Johnica Week 2024, prompts: Torn between options, Gemstone: Zircon zircon is a talisman of travelers. They count on it to lead to a shelter and show the right way. Plus, it is able to protect from injuries. Women used the gem to ease childbirth, drive away evil spirits, enhance health, get wisdom, and attract good luck."

I wanted to write a sort of fairytale circling around the gemstones and how it helps both travelers and pregnant women... so here it is! 1975, Queen are in Japan for their tour, and John spends a day with Freddie and their guides to discover the scenery and culture. Yet, everything reminds John of his wife, who's still in London and expecting their child. A painting workshop will be able to let John pour his longing onto a canvas of rice paper.

For Johnica Week 2024, prompts Flowers: Orchids, Surprise gift! and Handmade by the other.

Obviously the whole art workshop thing is made up for this fic, but I've always wanted to get inside John's head while strolling around japan, meeting children and taking pictures of everything! I hope you'll enjoy, I wrote this in basically a day without really double-checking obsessively as I usually do 😅

Halloween 1972, John Deacon picks up his girlfriend Veronica for a romantic date in the countryside, both eager to join their friends at their return for Trick or Treat. But the day of Halloween is not a regular day, and the unexpected is always looming in the autumnal fog.

A bouquet of Speedwell

It's the mid 80s and an unexpected friendship develops between Veronica Deacon and her new hairdresser, an Irish man called Jim who shares with her the passion for gardening.

Unfortunately, misunderstandings and jealousy are behind the corner.

From a request I received on tumblr from @freddiefiction : "I’d love to see a fluffy fic where Jim is Veronica’s hairdresser and occasionally gives her flowers from his garden because he knows she loves them. Maybe John (not knowing who Jim is) gets jealous and is ready to fight for his lady, only for Freddie to pop up like, “oh, John, have you met my Jim?’ 😂"

I loved this prompt to bits and decided to develop it into a longer fic, hoping to manage to write it well since I'm struggling like crazy. Because of my struggles, I decided to give up a bit on an accurate timeline of the events and just put the plot first, just assuming this would be around 1985/86. I hope you'll enjoy and please leave a comment if you read it, it'll help me immensely!

I feel like I TOTALLY lost touch with my writing, past and present, so I don't know when the next chapter will come out but I hope you'll bear with me 💕

Ch.26: “Exist for Love”

I tried to keep it less explicit as possible and it's all safe, protected and consensual, but if it bothers you, you can skip the first part and jump to the divider line below.

The big party at Lambert Castle is over, and the guests retire in their room. Before the day will bring its news, the night is the time for love.

With this chapter, I decided to raise the rating of this fic to Mature, but I did it also because I had previously touched heavier themes such as fantasy violence, abuse and trauma, therefore I realized Mature would've been a more appropriate rating for the fic as a whole. I’m sorry it took me so long to deliver this chapter, it’s been a rough start of the year and previously I’ve been busy writing a lot of other fics. But TODAY MARKS THE 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF DOWN IN THE DUNGEONS! what about some johnica hurt/comfort after the tribute concert or when john retired?

This is such a good prompt, thank you! 🥺💕 I chose John's last appearance with Elton John and the Bejart ballet in Paris, which was also one day before their wedding anniversary in '97, so here it is a little drabble. It came out a bit introspective but I hope you'll like it anyway! Mind that as usual this is all completely fictional! ✌🏻

Veronica knew it was coming. Everyone knew, it was only a matter of time, and John had only been delaying it.

"Would you come with me in Paris for the show?" He asked quietly a month before, right after he ended his call to confirm that he was indeed going to play once more with Brian and Roger. And Elton, too. Veronica gave him a knowing glance, aware that he was asking only because he already booked the hotel for both, and nodded. "We... we can celebrate our anniversary in Paris, sounds nice doesn't it?" He grumbled.

"It sounds great, love. I'll join you, don't worry." She winded her arms around him, feeling his shoulders relaxing a bit. He still needed her, after all, and she knew.

And now, after the show ended, John stormed out the dressing room and winded his arms around her shoulders, engulfing her in the tightest hug.

His face throughout the rehearsals and the show was a clear mirror of his soul, not even the cigarette's smoke could cover it with its fog. He tried and tried and tried again, but Freddie's absence was still too much to handle in these public occasions where he was everywhere and nowhere to be seen at the same time. Too painful, too powerful, even after six years, no matter how much Roger and Brian tried to involve John.

Veronica was aware that this one was going to be the last post-show hug they shared, the last time she'd hold her husband like this, sweaty and trembling for the adrenaline, his fingers burning from the bass' strings, and his heart racing after performing on the stage. Sad, really, that this had became a painful outcome rather than the excited result of a thrilling show.

"Did you tell the others?" Ronnie asked, and John simply nodded against her neck.

"We can go, then."

A couple of people from the staff reached out to help John, but he simply slid in the car with his wife and she ordered the driver to bring them to their hotel, without any bass and wearing the jacket directly on the sweaty suit. He didn't speak a word, closed in the silence of another cigarette, and Veronica looked at his darkened eyes which lately -at home- were more often replaced by light and smiles for the children. He did quit for good this time, and she saw how it hurt, but how it was also a necessary, inevitable move.

At the hotel, Ronnie dragged him in the bathroom, helping him undress until they stood embraced in the shower, letting the flowing water wash away the guilt and sadness. Tomorrow they'd celebrate their wedding anniversary in a beautiful restaurant in Paris just the two of them, and then back again to their home in London, to live like a normal, big family.

Veronica hugged John tightly, warm drops and salty tears sliding between them, and felt his heart beating. Up above, John kissed her forehead. He was free.

Early 1900s, John Deacon's time to get married has come, and his mother accepted the offer of a local Polish family, their oldest daughter Veronica.

Sadly, neither John nor Veronica are ready to get married, and while he gets immediately struck by her, she doesn't seem to accept her fate yet.
