she’s good at blocking them, most of the time. the memories,flashes & fragments of a day she’s not sure she has truly lived. she keepsthem at bay, buried underneath layers of denial, all wrapped up in a packagewith a note saying not yet, but one day i will come back. still they slipthrough, sometimes; light through anonymous cracks, shards of a moment bleedinginto her thoughts & catching her by surprise, knocking the breath out ofher. it happens suddenly, while she’s walking down the road, while she’ssitting on a stool at shorty’s, while she’s wiping the blood off her face. ithappens suddenly & then she remembers.

fingernails smaller than seashells, eyes of clean water.skin so tender it makes her cry, too soft for comfort, too exposed. sheremembers the amazement, gazing over her daughter’s body & finding no traceof her scars, her bruises, all the stupid flaws collected like badges of honorlike they really meant anything in the face of this, the coolest thing she everdid.

a smile forces its way upon her lips. “ she is ”. losing herwas a knife through her guts, but when the thought of her face knocks her offher feet she reminds herself alice is still out there — & perhaps it’sstupid to want her back, perhaps it’s selfish, but goddammit, she — theydeserve something good, in the end, don’t they ? they deserve to watch hergrow, to know she’s safe. to threaten her crushes & drive her places, make fun of herfavorite band, teach her how to get back up on her feet after life will knockher down over & over again.

a breath — heavy, like breathing becomes harder any second.the sunset ignites the horizon & purgatory looks like it’s on fire —perhaps it is. perhaps the smart thing would just get doc & waverly &everyone else & get the fuck out of here & let the curse handle itself.but then, twenty-seven years from now — then what ?

wynonna takes another breath, grabs peacemaker & standsup to leave. before she does, she looks straight into doc’s eyes. “ you’ll seehow perfect she is, doc. i promise. ”

EMILIA COULDN’T HELP BUT whistle as she rummaged through the stagecoach she stole. the night sky was cool as she could see her own breath, taking a money clip. “ fifty bucks ? come to mama ! ” she beamed happily, stowing it away in her back pocket. there wasn’t much left in the crates. emilia grinned, starting to whistle again before hopping off the wagon. a gasp escaped emilia when she finally looked up, the moonlight providing some ... light to reveal a stranger standing there.

nearly eight years ago, KE$HASTUCK was born at a bus stop. december 2012 happened, and an infamous fanventure slowly rambled on as the most hated bronze bearing adventure before losing steam, recognized as some husk of a meme. in the years since then, the laggard's been reimmortalized through an idiomatic incantation: REMEMBER KE$HASTUCK? some of us aren't allowed to forget. one year ago (aug 2019), we reawakened some concepts, reinvoked some divinity, and reembarked on a journey: we'll call that REMEMBER KE$HASTUCK? RELOADED. happy anniversary to that! but the recent revival maintained untrained origination: a celebrated setup of scenes imperfectly conveyed with the lilt of youthful inexperience. recent inspiration set me to the task of more expertly translating the antediluvian chronicle of this ode; everything prior to 2019 (p≤171) has been almost entirely rewritten because i wanted to produce something more tuned to a convoluted legacy of tweeting "remember keshastuck" while wistfully 'when will my husband come home the war' posing at the window. this radical retcon brings us to REMEMBER KE$HASTUCK? RELOADED: THE RE-UP. the gist is effectively identical and the panels remain unaltered, but it's a soft reset on world and character building with more meritable writing and cogent content. if you've read that half of the adventure prior to aug 23 2020, why don't you go ahead and start the journey over to experience this transfiguration––how's that for nonlinear storytelling?

was going to advocate for a 17776 AU of the old guard where they all play football, but you know what would be even better? The Old Guard/17776 crossover. Everyone is going through their crisis about mortal Andy only for her to get reimmortalized along with everybody else on the planet. Nile realizes she has to go explain to her family that she’s alive or avoid them for literally the rest of eternity. World peace is achieved so there’s not really a lot for the team to do but play football.
