Gourmand!

Like Arti, there isn't a whole lot to say here. Very adorably round boi :]

His antenna ears are droopy, almost like they're struggling to hold themselves up from a mix of chub and all the time spent rolling.

Likewise, her tail has a dip and tends to curl in on itself. Again, this is due to rolling a lot. Also, his tail isbig to balance out the rest of his body.

He has chunky arms because fat and also stronk.

She mostly travels either normally or by rolling, but when she sgands and stuff she's stightly leaning forward, ready to 'leap' into a roll.

Relatively simple design here, but i love it. :]

I've realized something as of late . . . . Whenever RW artists depict vultures, they almost always neglect to show these weird side bulbs that vultures have in front of their wings? Looking at Joar's concept art, it seems their an attachment point, and the wings protrude out from the back end of them in some way. I feel like I'm the only one who's acknowledged it, have you noticed this too?

That is interesting! I have not drawn vultures, so I didn't take a good look at them yet. I always like looking at these sketches for inspiration on design, though it's also good to remember that Joar's concept sketches aren't the be-all-end-all of creature's "true" designs. In the end, in-game sprites is where everyone is basing from, and there's freedom to re-interpret.

*AUs your canon so hard they become whole new characters*

I said I was going to make iterators versions of my pjo scugs so here's Hazel's with her scug redesign!

I'm not 100% set on the names yet and honestly am not vibing with DE, but by god is the lore cooking up some soup in my brain (long lore dumps + some design notes below break)

Honestly the Iterator designs are just for fun so not much thought will be put into a storyline, but here it is so far:

Distant Echoes was first of her Local Group to be built. She was created to hold a small population of ancient engineers and scientists as they perfected Iterator design around the region. However, due to the growing load she experienced, her structure was shut down and re-wired with the newer developments of a 3rd Gen model. She's jokingly considered the youngest alongside Seven Flames, Nine Embers (SFNE), Metal of Ten Sung Choirs (MTSC), and First of Minds Fragmented (FoMF) despite retaining memories older than even the Rain itself.

She experiences momentary power failure occasionally, as her structure is still at it core a 1st Gen and therefore less efficient. Her and the others have experienced mild to severe weathering, with damage ranging from temporary memory loss to frequent function disruptions. Still, she tries to keep a positive attitude and utilises her knowledge of Ancient culture to piece together a Solution alongside the Local Group

As for design, I just wanted to make her recognisable as Hazel while keeping with rw's designs. I made her body metallic and her robes like CJ's camp shirt + her overalls. The pearls as a nod to her connection with jewels and metals (on her wires), with more earthy brown for a grounded personality. Not much thinking tbh. Her wires being encased in silver is also a me trying to get locs since I couldn't get her hair shape in there like normal :)

Oh! right, I made her symbol look like Pluto's Y thing mixed with the X karma

Apostate on the other hand is so full of trauma I essentially combined my headcanons for Hunter and Saint's states of being together and smashed them into another traumatised character lmao

Apostate is from a long, long time ago. She was given the Mark and was sent off to help discover the void fluid. Her job was to search through drill holes made by the Ancients and to come back with findings. So, she was bioengineered for higher intelligence than the others of her species at the time. Eventually, she made it to the Void, and her job was finished. The only options left was to either go further or retire. The Ancients chose what they saw as mercy and the Apostate fell against her will.

She fought against the Void and because of this, her more than sufficient Karma wasn't enough for ascension. Instead, she found herself bound in limbo- halfway bound to both life and death. An Echo in physical form.

When she finally made it out, she forsook her old teachings and started anew with a new colony of slugcats. She actively embraces the cardinal sins in fear of being dragged back down There.

Apostate earned herself the name Martyr once her colony found out about her past

again, not much thought behind the designs since I want to keep them game-accurate enough. Her pupils are shaped like the final karma symbol and the edges of her fur look like they're floating away. Typical echo shenanigans tbh. However, when the others reach just the right cycle, they may see shadowy tendrils float from her form

Built in complete secrecy by Kelly Johnson and the Lockheed Skunk Works, the original U-2A first flew in August 1955. Early flights over the Soviet Union in the late 1950s provided the president and other US decision makers with key intelligence on Soviet military capability. In October 1962, the U-2 photographed the buildup of Soviet offensive nuclear missiles in Cuba, touching off the Cuban Missile Crisis. In more recent times, the U-2 Dragon Lady has provided intelligence during operations in Korea, the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Iraq. As highlighted above, one thing that hasn’t changed much at all over the years is oxygen: in fact, pre-breathing took place in the 1950s just like it takes place today.

Leimbach explains;

‘Just like scuba divers, rapid decompression in an emergency could cause the bends. So, the pilot will spend an hour or two before a mission taking a nap and breathing pure oxygen, then hooking up to the LOX case for the ride out to the jet, where PSD (physiological support division) will then connect him to the liquid oxygen supply on the jet. Then they get to spend the next 8–12 hours continuing to breathe pure oxygen during the mission. They do NOT mix the pure oxygen with air. That would defeat the purpose of the nitrogen purge. Anyone suggesting that this is somehow harmful or fatal to pilots needs to stop relying so much on bots so write her answers.

ty for the blessing charlie 😌💖 and now you got my lazy ass to design Smudger!! I remember reading a headcanon about Smudger being a nickname for Stanley (RWS) because they're essentially the same character, but don't remember who said it and I thank them for that one as I will use it ✨

About Smudger, practically his whole biography--very long:

Smudger spent a couple years stationed in France, working the trench railways during the later years of the war at 26 y/o.

While there he encountered a little French girl named Sylvie (8 y/o) beside the tracks, her parents nowhere in sight. He endeavoured to take care of her as much as he could; Smudger would share his food with her, and she travelled in his engine cab with him so she wasn't wandering alone in the dark. Smudger, with the help of some friends, made a little makeshift bunker for Sylvie to stay in whenever he couldn't bring her around and always dropped off little toys or stationery he found for her.

When he had to go back to America, Smudger brought her to a small orphanage. Conveniently her parents were there searching for her, so Smudger gave them his number and address, requesting weekly updates by phone or letter on who was essentially his adopted daughter at this point; they oblige, grateful to the American that took care of their child.

Two years later he learns that Sylvie died of osteosarcoma at 10 y/o. Smudger fell into a deep depression, but under the advice of his old war friends he and his engine were approved to be moved to Sodor working on the narrow gauge railway there, hoping for a quieter life to ease his tension.

His train often derailed--firstly because his engine hadn't been re-gauged for the Mid Sodor Railway, then it was a toss-up between the engine just not co-operating with the tracks or Smudger being careless with his driving. Mainly due to being preoccupied by memories of Sylvie. He'd snap at other workers while in this state; he was very irritable.

While the Manager was understanding of his mental state, he had to fire Smudger (36 y/o) for the good of the Railway. Smudger accepted this and, figuring he was too out of it to continue driving his engine, approved for it to be stripped down and used as scrap metal and parts for the Railway's pumping mechanism.

He retired from railway work entirely for 7 years, living in the quiet comforts of Sodor. At 43 y/o he felt he had recovered from his depression enough to work again, and became a fireman for Duncan (Smudger simply loves narrow gauge engines).

the 'A Few Spills' pin is just a reference to Stanley saying "In the States, we don't care a dime for a few spills!" (according to the wiki, man i really should get these books)

Justice League x RW/BY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen (Part One)

gonna be honest i kinda keep forgetting that this movie exists. the animation and music is very... rw/by. for better or for worse. corny quippy one liners. it's very corny. adding a cut bc this'll probably get a bit rambly.

AHHH THE FLASHBACK IS A STILL FRAME. the first thing to make me laugh wasnt even a joke it was the single still frame flashback. well. there was a slight zoom?

it's trying to be funny so bad its trying so hard. the serious dialogue is corny but could be worse. overall its better than the crossover comics? making the DC characters teenagers seems pointless.

oh god the dialogue is so hammy. the fists are hammed. weiss good and weiss dad bad yes i noticed. christ im only 8 minutes in. physically recoiling at some of the jokes. like its nothing jokes its nothinggg.

IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE BRUCE? he's been on screen for like 10 seconds and he already sounds and acts like "wealthy teenage tiktok star tries to pander to the less ~economically privileged~" and god it keeps going it hasnt even been a minute yet. did they make them teenagers bc otherwise bruce wouldve run off and found some little boy to help him solve everything without the help of anyone else. is that why. bc honestly yeah adult bruce is hard to write into a team setting.

bruce continues to be embarrassing but also. im learning that the still image flashbacks are just a thing thats gonna happen in this movie. style wise its very much a rw/by movie, so its just probably not gonna hit for me. its the kind of show i watched in middle school and grew out of by 8th grade. even then, my interest kind of started and ended with the character design and the basic world building elements. emphasis on basic, trying to understand the more in depth aspects is a bit of a waste of time.

oh and im still at the 10 minute mark. "ive already gone through all the other dc x rw/by content" i thought, "might as well watch the movies" i thought.

i think theyre trying to write bruce doing a smart detective thing? unfortunately rw/by is very bad at writing people doing smart things. 1) cant stand bruces voice in this 2) god hes so annoying and this whole scene is embarrassing to watch.

GAHH. THE SAME FLASHBACK FRAME CLARK HAD BUT ZOOMED OUT THIS TIME. true cinema. and i think theyre alluding to time travel as well as dimension travel, so even the rw/by girls get to have weird "we're not where we should be" flashbacks.

diana manhandles the small boy, fun. it also rife with required reading bc if you arent fully dedicated to keeping track of all rw/by lore then fuck you. these movies dont seem to require much DC knowledge but they cram in a lot of references to rw/by lore that i only know from video essays put out by ex-fans.

MARI IS THAT YOU?? and jess... girls u deserve a better movie. oh vic got braids? nice. also that joke was nothing. all the jokes are nothing.

the best jokes so far have been. the ones about how convoluted and hard to get into rw/by is. because of course. sigh. i do think the DC characters are better utilized and integrated than they were in the comics at least. seeing mari and jess get animated is really cool, and overall i like the redesigns. a few of the characters have commented on suddenly being deaged but mari's acknowledgement of it is the first to feel like a natural line of dialogue rather than exposition.

montage of bruce learning to use his bat powers so that they can get that out of the way before he joins the rest of the group. separate things that were already discussed being re-discussed so that we can have a "everyone talks at once scene". they. what. huh? they had a normal conversation that landed on "lets split into groups since theres enough of us to reasonably do that. then they have an argument which ends at the exact same conclusion.

are they really gonna have a "yang thinks diana is hot and blake gets jealous" plot line? really? and another love triangle. cy tries to ask nora to explain this worlds weapons, noras boyfriend(?) gets mad and then cy gets mad back and ends up being the one everyone gets upset with. it feels a bit. just. super uncomfortable. cy wasnt flirting he was just. talking to nora.

oh thank god that bit is over. now back to jess! possibly the most interesting character here. her design is probably my least favorite of the bunch tho, just because it feel a bit... too anime? it reminds me too much of my danganronpa phase, lol.

jaune doing plot device things. jess introspection. its not the most interesting thing but its better than uh. whatever happened with cy earlier. sorry im still thinking about that. i think they were just going for hormonal and temperamental teenager moment but it uh. came off weird.

plot twist everything was uh. void. ptsd monster things. the plots about to get convoluted isnt it.

diana is pretty decently fleshed out in this one. and it looks like they didnt lean into the diana being hot as a source of relationship conflict that much aside from a few jokes, thank god.

for fucks sake shut up jaune i dont care about your dead girlfriend.

back to the monster fighting group, dear god theyre doing one of those. 2 guys fight over girl who goes "umm i can take care of myself >:(". GOD SHUT UP. FUCK. ITS A JEALOUS LOVE TRIANGLE PLOT. please let this die sooner rather than later.

bruce describes everything that was just established. bruce is emo. weiss tries to be nice. then back to jess and jaune. "i didnt realize how much i miss this place" yeah well i sure dont miss it. oh pyrra, however your name is spelled, you were the only character death that meant anything. now if only they didnt degrade her story into being all about jaune even in death.

have weiss and bruce just been on the computer this whole time. at least they eventually get a fight scene. lesbians to the rescue time. stuff and things. i still dont care and jaune. fuckin. creator self insert ass. he was originally comic relief/audience surrogate but turned into way too much of a main character. god jess deserves her own movie.

weiss please stop trying to recruit him this is just embarrassing. is this gonna be a whole thing? bruce deciding between earth and remnant? and god you cant put anime style gags in the middle of a serious scene. oh god theyre making bruce insecure about not having powers like the rest of the league. man who could've seen that coming. christ theres still 20 minutes left. FUCK AND A WHOLE SECOND MOVIE.

jess remains the coolest bitch in this movie. god why couldnt it be a jess green lantern movie.

so smth smth final battle but theres a mysterious second bad guy so that they still have content for a second movie. i like how they show vixen's powers, that parts fun. jess does main character thing and kills big bad. bruces conflict about going home is resolved. cy goes and makes amends with nora and guy who likes nora, despite guy who likes nora being the one to cause all the conflict in the first place. they make the go home portals. set up for next movie.

DIY CD - Part 1

CD Tutorial directory // Part 1 (burning the CD) - here // Part 2 (designing booklet & back cover) // Part 3 (printing & assembly)

Supplies:

CD disc drive. If your computer (or one you have access to, I borrow my grandma’s when I visit lol) has a CD disc drive, great! If not, this project will be a bigger investment for you. Search around to find an external disc drive you can plug into your computer via USB - cheap ones look to be around $20 on EBay, NewEgg, what have you.

Blank CD(s). Easiest way is to buy them online, or see if you have some packed away at home (either blank ones that were never used, or any that say CD-RW or “rewritable”). I don’t think there’s any way to rewrite commercial CDs (like an old unwanted album you have lying around) but I’m not 100% sure.

Jewel case - not slim jewel case. Ideally you find your CD(s) in a jewel case already, but if you don’t, you can buy them online or grab one from the thrift store. In the Album Series set, the official has a “standard double” case (with a third pane of plastic between the front and back, with the music CD on the front and the bonus CD on the back), but I didn’t bother with that since I didn’t think I’d be able to find those bonus interviews to rip and I wouldn’t understand them anyway.

Playlist. Here’s the official discography page which has all the CDs that exist and which songs are on them, and the wiki discography page which isn’t always updated but has more info (higher-res album covers, translated lyrics, etc). If you’re making your lyric booklet with English lyrics, you’ll have room for an odd number of songs (unless you glue pages together or something).

Step 0: If your CD isn’t blank, either erase it - here’s a WikiHow (for Mac and Windows) - or move the files somewhere else (I moved my family photos to a flash drive).

Step 1: Download songs - tutorial for downloading MP3s from SoundCloud here. You might not always be able to find the ones you want - SoundCloud is the best place for finding EnStars songs, but things get taken down for copyright. Karaoke (カラオケ) versions are a little hard to find, audio dramas are harder, but I’ve seen both around. Try searching the English and Japanese versions of song titles, and looking through EnStars/Unit playlists for tracks that have purposefully misspelled or random names. Also make sure you’re downloading the long versions (~3-5 minutes) instead of the game-length versions (~1-3 minutes) if possible. I had to go back and burn the CD again because one of my songs was the short version on accident…

Step 2 (Optional): Edit ID3 tags. To make the song titles and such display when you play the CD, you need to edit the ID3 tags. Tutorials:

You can find this info on the wiki page for the album that song is in, from here. For the album covers, make sure you click the image and then “Open original” to get the highest res possible. I don’t know how the official CDs organize their ID3s, but I listed the lyricist & unit as the artist, and the composer & arranger as composer.

If your song album isn’t on the wiki, you can find these credits by searching the official page for 作詞 (lyricist), 作曲 (composer), and 編曲 (arrangement). If one person did multiple jobs the titles might be listed together (ex. 作曲·編曲). You can search their name on the wiki to see how it’s romanized in credits for another CD they worked on, if you want that.

Step 3: Burn the CD • Windows version • Mac version (you’ll only need the next minute or so of this, it goes on to talk about recording multiple at a time for artists producing their own CDs but we don’t need that)

Next part is customizing your CD case!

For his design, i made him so fluffy that he kinda looks fat. He isn't though. They're actually incredibly skinny, but has a lot of fur to keep them warm in the snow.

Speaking of the fur, their cheek fur is stylised to kind of resemble an X shape. This paired with his circular and round face is meant to be a referance to the max karma symbol.

His ears are the same colour as her eyes, just because i said so. Same goes for the tongue too.

When using their powers, the two smaller forehead spots turn into a second pair of eyes. Again, this is just because i said so.

Generally he's pretty small, being about the same size as Monk. This is so that she has to eat less food to survive, and generally help with living in the cold.

Their tail is also very short so that it doesn't drag too much in the snow, and so that it can't be snapped by predators while swinging on their tongue.

That's pretty much it for Saint, two more scugs to go! Yippee!!!
