It's panels like these that really get me wondering as to whether Sagisawa's first language is English... it would make sense since this is a crucial moment with no time to spare so if he defaults back to his first language it tracks. it's hard to notice that he's ACTUALLY speaking English when reading the English translation because... it's all English for us... even Fiona and Fox's horizontal text as compared to the bird club's vertical text is lost in translation...

TIL (from jeopardy haha) that people can have more than one spleen, and if the main spleen is removed, the accessory spleen can end up growing and functioning.

i think itd be funny if tim drake gets his main spleen removed after being stabbed but finds out he's part of the 16% that has an extra one, and he uses it as some sort of witty gotcha against ra's haha.

In the 90s, Yui Ikari took the scientific world by storm with her revolutionary Collider, a contraption which located weak moments in space and time, allowing dimensions to briefly crossover and making travel between them possible. The test subject of this revolutionary tech? A simple spider dubbed 00, successfully sent to and from another dimension, all in one peace.

What was kept hidden, however, was how the spider shifted under their very eyes, a mirage of twitching agony. During observation it bit Scientist Yui, but although she reported some strange symptoms - heightened awareness, improved reflexes - she appeared to be largely unaffected by the bite. The spider however, died soon after, preventing further study.

Ever a woman with a vision, Yui spurred on with her work alongside her husband Gendo, setting her sights upon transporting a human being to another dimension. The previous collider was expanded upon, incorporating experimentally technology modeled off of human human intelligence : it was as if a piece of Yui was in the collider itself.

But even the most sophisticated tech could not be flawless. In 2007 when the fated time came for the collider to be tested, Yui put herself forward as a test subject, but the sheer pull of universes colliding into one was too much for a human body, unraveling her DNA and pulling her apart. There was barely anything salvageable of her body, but consumed by grief, Gendo desperately attempted to piece her together again. What he got, however, was not his wife, but some strange copy of her. A being of only six, with strange, spider-like abilities.

From then she was reared by Gendo and a few select others, tested and trained religiously to hone her abilities. It wasn't until 2015 she was introduced to the world 'organically', a wraith like figure clad in white come to save the city from harm, from the other-worldly to the common thief. What particularly stood out however, were the moments where she would pilot a large humanoid machine, deployed only for very severe threats.

Though admired, this spider-woman was an enigma to the public, rarely ever speaking and moving efficiently and swiftly. For this, she was dubbed 'The Silent Spider'.
