La Brea Season 2 Episode 4
Izzy
I know you thought you’d never see her again but staring at the girl sleeping is creepy.
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you won’t be a family. Yo mama loves your god father.
Levi get your hands off Izzy.
Tye it’s not your fault.
NO SHE DIDNT MAKE JOSH HIDE
Do not blame Gavin for why y’all separated.
Why were things broken Eve? Cause the man was having visions he couldn’t control? I understood what happened at first. You thought the man wasn’t doing anything to better the situation and you didn’t believe him. I get that. Completely. I would’ve done the same. But you kept making the choice to sneak and creep which would inevitably hurt people instead of making decisions and owning them.
Gavin
Gavin you keep saying as a family but I want you to leave this woman. She don’t want to be a family with you! She’s too busy trying to sleep with your ex best friend.
SEE GAVIN?! She pulls away when Levi’s around! LEAVE EVE!
YES ALDRIDGE JUST TELL THEM THE TRUTH
Why do you insist on keeping secrets?
WHAT THE FUCK NO ALDRIDGE CAN NOT DIE SHE HAS ANSWERS WE NEED
Give up the secrets Aldridge. You’re probably on your deathbed so I need you to be forthcoming with those answers.
Awe Gavin and Para (how do we spell her name? Am I even pronouncing it right?)
Trio (Veronica, Scott and Lucas)
I don’t know how I feel about Veronica and Lucas.
Scott you’re a terrible liar.
Veronica you are worthy of love.
No you should not have taken their food. Now go warn the others.
I’m with Veronica. Why are we arguing instead of making a plan.
Veronica you were also kidnapped, you did what you had to in order to survive. You had to choose someone I’m sure.
No she is not allowed to die. She has too many answers in her head!
Josh and Riley
Please don’t break that phone. If it breaks y’all have no way of fixing it.
Of course the person you need to convince is a hard ass.
Who the hell is this chick?
Cause this isn’t creepy at all.
OH SHIT HE JUST MET HIS GRANDMOTHER
Miscellaneous
Uh Rando, It’s every man for themselves down here. Tye needs to stay with the group.
Ah shit. Wolves.
I’m so sick of seeing Levi and Eve together.
Sam I think that just made it angrier.
Tye better not die this episode.
Oh shit it was in Tye’s head. He’s getting worse.
Damnit. She died.
Oh I won’t be able to watch the big scene next week. Count me out. I’m already itching.

Whumptober 2022 Day 9
Read it below the line, or here on AO3 (appreciate all kudos, feedback, comments)!
They had only just finished packing everything up in preparation for the journey back to the camp when the storm that was building up decided to ruin their plans. For the worst.
Riley and Josh had become accustomed to the extreme weather down here, but this was a storm beyond anything they'd experienced. And they were unprepared - their journey was supposed to take a day in total, but a combination of unexpected topology and Riley's presumed twisted ankle meant that they would now be trapped under the torrential rainfall that was slowly wearing down the narrow path they were walking along.
They had nothing but the small packs they had on their backs and the clothes they were wearing.
At least water won't be a problem, Josh thought, trying to keep some semblance of positivity in what could be described in no other terms but a catastrophic and life-threatening situation.
He and Riley had reached the highest point in the area when the last slither of hope they had to make it back to camp on time. Below them, the landscape was unrecognisable, a flash flood covering all paths downwards.
They were going to be stranded atop for a while.
"I'm freezing." Josh turned to Riley, who was shivering in her jeans and flimsy jumper, completely soaked.
If they wanted to survive the storm, which by the looks of things was not going to let up until well past nightfall, they needed to make a shelter, and fast.
*
Thirty minutes under the torrential downpour with one of them injured felt like an eternity, but at last they had a rudimentary shelter.
Lighting a fire would be impossible in the circumstances and staying in their wet clothes any longer would impede their journey after the storm.
If we ever get out of here, I need to go back to medical school, Riley thought, glad that at least her basic training meant that she could tend to her injuries and conclude as to what they had to do next.
"We have to take our clothes off," she stated.
Josh stood there, quite unsure of what to make of the situation. It then hit Riley.
"Sorry, that came out wrong. I would suggest we change into something dry, but we don't have anything, so we need to stick to the next best alternative."
"Um… sure…" Josh responded hesitantly. Of course, over the period of time down here, he and Riley had cultivated a relationship, but they hadn’t really been much time to take their relationship a step further. Josh had never admitted this before, but Riley was his first serious relationship.
"You can go first, Josh. I'm not looking." Riley added, sensing his hesitation.
"Thank you." Josh managed to respond and stripped of his clothes in record time.
Riley followed suit and laid out her clothes at the corner of their makeshift shelter, making use of every centimetre of dry territory.
They were going to make it through this storm, no matter what.

31 Days of quietYA with your Mod: Asexual YA
While I do keep a running list of books with asexual main characters (which you can find here), it’s a long list and a little unwieldy and sometimes I fall behind on it. So, here’s a list of JUST the YA books that are already out or coming out in 2020. It’s likely incomplete because I’m not a perfect person and I can’t guarantee all of the representation is great, but everyone’s asexuality looks different so YMMV!

La Brea Season 2 Episode 5
Gavin
Let’s plan!
He don’t wanna talk to you Levi.
Damn Izzy got balls. I wish I would talk to my mama like that and tell her what I’M gonna do versus what she told me to do.
Gavin. Let that woman go.
How the fuck did y’all get trapped?
OH NO ITS THAT SCENE SKIP SKIP SKIP
YES IZZY GIVE ME THE ANGST AND CLARITY ON THE SITUATION I CRAVE
Damn she really just gonna walk off? Not even give a political answer?
….that thank you seemed fake af. Like she felt the need to say something to him and that’s what her mind came up with.
*Wipes brow*
Damn. Deep down I knew it was too easy.
Of course Levi runs in. I mean I’m glad he saved her but they really couldn’t just let Gavin save her and be able to relish in the win.
Ty!
Nooooo! I already miss you Ty.
I myself forgot you were sick.
What is she not saying?
HE’S HER HUSBAND AIN’T HE?
I knew it. What’s the story there?
Ah he was exiled.
Josh
Yes. Answer her questions because they are mine.
So he’s from the future, not the past.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU GIVE HER HIS FULL NAME?! Dumbass.
She’s not gonna just give up. No way.
She surprised the hell outta me.
Does nobody see these two?
Oh yeah there’s a tidal wave threat.
Lucas and Scott
Scott, it’s empty.
Pep talk Scott!
Scott move your ass!
Awe bro hug!
I probably would’ve kept it just in case.
Miscellaneous
My question is, will she fall back in love with Gavin now that he’s the man she remembers falling in love with?
Of course it’s not as simple as it’s meant to be.

Whumptober 2022 Day 7
Read it below the line, or here on AO3 (appreciate all kudos, feedback, comments)!
After a couple of weeks down in the sinkhole, everything had finally caught up with Josh: all the panic from the various animal attacks, not to mention his own abduction, paired with the utter despair that survived the long fall decided that now would be the best time to make their presence known.
At least it had the decency to wait until he was out of immediate danger, and nobody was around. At least he thought so.
Riley took the exact moment that his panic attack was reaching its apex to walk into the bus they used as an impromptu shelter. She looked at him with concern, and Josh tried to wave her off, but instead he let of a series of wheezes, and walked away from Riley, wanting to deal with this himself.
"Josh, look at me." Riley was not going to walk away that easily. She sat down opposite him, and forced his chin up, their eyes meeting.
"I want you to match my breathing Josh okay." She then grabbed hold of his less jittery hand and placed it on her chest.
"Concentrate on the rhythm of my heart, okay? Nothing else."
Josh tried to follow Riley's instructions - she could be quite imposing and stern, in a commanding, medical way. In her father's absence, she oversaw everyone's medical welfare, and he knew better than to ignore her advice.
Sure enough, after an intense amount of concentration that, in hindsight, felt worse than the panic attack itself, everything subsided, and it felt as though a burden had been lifted off his shoulders, at least for a little while.
