ohh!!! i was planning on making a couple of edits but i didn't know if people were interested but now that we're here i get to post my older drawings

in this AU he is an ectobiological kid (replacing nanna) so in the alpha universe his dad is john!

just like beta john he absolutely despises betty crocker, so he basically renounces the crocker name and raises jean as a regular egbert guy™... jean still enjoys cooking and baking so he gets betty crocker products behind his father's back (he thinks his dad is exaggerating)

then his dad does get killed on derse after they enter the medium

before the new team decided to continue beyond canon i was planning on doing a lil spinoff (for the candy route at least) about his life; he absolutely loathes the crocker name after everything that happened, so he doesn't end up making a new crockercorp company. instead, he decides to move to a quiet suburban neighborhood and open a joke shop called prankster's gambit 🥸

he had a huge crush on roxy (kind of like beta dad and mom) but she settled down with john so he's just kind of on his own...

i still have to figure out how to tackle the whole presidential fiasco with dirk and the others. i mostly wanted to do a spinoff because i wanted to draw him raising yiffy LOL

yiffy/ruby was supposed to have a very bad relationship with their mothers due to them keeping them secret (jean offered to take care of them often and insisted they could stay with him instead of enrolling them in ms. paint's boarding school for inconvenient girls). yiffy grows older and insists that they want to change their first name to literally anything else and their last name to egbert.

basically the whole crockercorp war was just replaced with child custody drama JDSHFJF

How do you personally feel about Yiffany being named Yiffany? Do you call them a different name? The sides of her name seem to be very split from “ don’t care, I think it’s funny “ or “ I hate the name and it’s disgusting “ and I find it interesting to know what people think! Hope this answer isn’t too bothersome 😁

The name is a big part of it. It is worth mentioning that Rose's comedic delivery of her full name's reveal in Chapter 8 was extremely funny to me, but it's more than that: it is what makes the character as extreme as it is. As the grand culmination of everything that makes the Candy timeline interesting (and everything that makes it worth trying to escape, which has been a clear goal for the characters since Chapter 16), Yiffy represents the deterioration of her parents' canonical integrity. She is the ultimate victim of what could be described as the official flanderization dimension, and she should not exist. Rose shouldn't have gone behind Kanaya's back. Rose and Jade shouldn't have named her that. Rose and Jade shouldn't have hid her from her family (like Jake) for the sake of a plot reveal. I hope this makes her angry. I hope she finds out about the nature of her reality and either has an existential crisis or finally understands things that have been upsetting and confusing her for so long, or both. I trust the current writers to deliver on at least one of these hopes.
