Finished my season 1 rewatch of Sanditon and can confirm that Sidney Parker is a prick who never deserved Charlotte in the first place. Tom Parker is an idiot. Edward Denham can choke. Young Stringer and Babington are the only decent men in Sanditon. Special shoutout to Arthur Parker for being an absolute sweetheart.
I'll start my season 2 rewatch tomorrow, and spend it drooling over my beloved period drama introvert Alexander Colbourne.

My week has been made already - my husband asked if I wanted to watch Sanditon tonight (because I've disappeared into fanfiction for the last five days straight). Best reaction was him belly laughing at Arthur's first words, and every subsequent appearance by Arthur. He now says the whole show should just be following Arthur around Sanditon.

i’m trying to be cool about esther not being in sanditon season three -- like, i’m glad she got her happy ending and she’s off to be with ✨babington✨ and her bb where no one can bug her anymore -- but also her flawlessly delivered sick burns are so beautiful, how do i live without them, how shall the town of sanditon not simply slip into the sea from despair without them

The Charlotte/Mr. Colbourne dynamic is even better on my rewatch of Sanditon season 2. I’d really like to write a fic about them, but I don’t have any clear ideas yet. If anyone has a prompt for this couple, I’m all ears!

I'm continuing my Sanditon rewatch, and yup, I still hate Sidney Parker. He talks to Charlotte like she's a child.

There’s a character on my dash right now that has my middle name as their name and when I read it after the day I had I was like “shit what did I do wrong now to earn the middle name?”
Anyways use me as an example of why you should get good sleep and drink enough water lol.

Yesterday I finished rewatching season 1 of Sanditon with Mr Wifey because he’d never seen it, and I was reminded of a) how much I freaking loved Sidney Parker and b) how infuriated I was that his character gets dropped like that. 😩 Jane Austen would never!
Whyyyyyy 😭😭😭

9 people you want to get to know better
Thanks to @bakedbakermom 😊
Currently reading: Oh God, like mostly a bunch of boring academic articles that will hopefully have some relevance to my PhD. Beside my bed waiting to be read/finished is "The Female Quixote" (Charlotte Lennox), "Sanditon/The Watsons" (Jane Austen), and "Mother Tongue: The Surprising History of Women's Words." (Jenni Nuttall)
Last song: Oo, oldie but a goodie: "Vox" (Sarah MacLachlan), the in-concert version of course!
Currently watching: Just finished "Yellowjackets" and "Good Omens 2". Not sure what to watch next ("The Gilded Age"?) so amusing myself with pimple-popping videos on youtube and rewatching "The X Files" for the 348th time.
Current fic: I'm retired from ff writing (but I've got 250+ stories that can be read here). I've enjoyed hunting down classic fics I used to love from the original run of TXF (which I have recced as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations). In fact, sometimes I forget that there are newer fics to experience. Luckily, @audiofanficpod keeps me up to date. I like anything by @phillippadgettwrites and @sarie-fairy
Next on my watchlist: OH! Been waiting for the next season of "Our Flag Means Death" (a show I watched cos tumblr was going mad for it and tumblr was SO right!)
Current obsession:
THEM. Okay? Just...THEM. ❤️❤️❤️

Books read and films/shows watched in 2024
I'm gonna be sharing some of the things I watch and read on here.
Books
Wool by Hugh Howey - 9/10 - The only reason it didn't get 10/10 is the ending. Maybe just the fact that it ended. Or, at the very least, too soon.
Currently reading
Shift by Hugh Howey
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Films/shows
Oppenheimer - 8.5/10
Love Again - 4/10
Saltburn - 7/10 - I enjoyed it, but slightly too unhinged for my taste.
Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley version) - 10/10 - Rewatch, but it always brings me joy.
My life with the Walter boys (show)- 7/10 - Teen drama. Always my favourite. Everyone is stupid.
Sanditon (show)- 7.5/10 - Everyone is stupid. Just communicate, that would help.
Fleabag (show)- 10/10 - Rewatch. Love it. It'll pass.
Normal People (show) - 10/10 - Just fantastic, binged it all in one night.
Foe - 7.5/10 - Film enthusiasts and critics alike think this is a boring film. I just really enjoyed it. Maybe I'm slightly obsessed with Paul Mescal, though. And I love things that are depressing af.
A Man Called Otto - 9/10 - Rewatch. Both hopeful and very sad. Love it.
Bodies (show) - 7.5/10 - Fun premise, odd pacing.
Masters of the Air (show)- 8.5/10 - Gets better with every rewatch.
The Boys In The Boat - 8/10 - Sports make me cry.
The Creator - 7/10 - Great premise, mediocre execution.
The Gentlemen (show) - 7/10 - It is a fun story, but the stylistic choices are perhaps not as much my thing anymore.
Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret - 8.5/10 - Was growing up like this? I can't remember, it's been too long.
Fate, The Winx saga (show) - 6/10 - Remind me why I watched this? I recall liking the first season, but the second season is just...
Slow Horses (show) - 9.5/10 - There is not much to critique. I love it.
Severance (show) - 8.5/10 - Takes a while to get into, but it's GOOD.
