But the more they talked about their family, translation wise they made it seem like she is her actual aunt.

why does Pete like vegas

oh wow.. .this is like. almost metaphysical hmm.

the number one reason why pete may like vegas? vegas actually showed interest in pete. pete is very much used to being overlooked, ignored, under estimated.

from the beginning it is clear vegas is showing interest in pete. potentially to turn him like he did with tawan and ken but also i think because he genuinely finds pete attractive. sure, he thinks he's a fool but now that vegas is paying attention to him, he's an attractive dude behind that ridiculous hair and baggy clothes.

that's just kind of a nebulous attraction at first for pete. pete isn't actually INTERESTED in vegas until two things happen: he sees gun abuse vegas and vegas doesn't kill him right away.

that's when his interest is piqued. he did not clock that vegas was an abused kid, which he should have but vegas is SO GOOD at masking it just does not occur to pete.

the final straw of: 'this dude is interesting, i might be able to let my guard down around him' doesn't come until vegas starts to take care of him.

once vegas starts being nice to him (for a given value of nice etc) THAT'S when pete starts to relax and open up around him. before vegas took care of him for that first time, there was absolutely NOTHING in pete that wanted vegas. the way he cared for pete (and the kiss with the pill, what with pete's belief that 'we only kiss those we like') that's the moment. that's when he opens himself up and allows vegas to see some of the real him. he's hyper empathetic and they share the same trauma.

they were always on a collision course to this but vegas caring about him enough to keep him alive, that's when he allows that vulnerability.

I've just finished Still Star Crossed and a surprisingly sexy kdrama called Hit the Spot.

Individual Circumstances is ending today (this will be queued so it might be a few days ago when the post is up)

I'm waiting for Gap the series to finish airing so that I can binge the last few episodes.

I've just started First Kill but it's slow going, not because I don't enjoy it but I'm just apathetic about shows at the moment.

A lot of great dramas are airing now but I'm just not motivated to start something new. Then again, I might start a handful of new shows at the same time on a whim as usual.

Currently craving

Sleep. Not just 8 hours of sleep. I want a whole weekend of nothing but sleep.

what have been BLs that took you by surprise this year?

I’d say Kabe Koji, My Ride, and 21 Days Theory both surprised me with how much I really liked the adult elders in both of them. Ghost Host, Ghost House surprised me with how much I bought the desire between the leads. Love in the Air surprised me by not only being an engaging watch, but also in helping me make friends with some of the kinksters in fandom. 

I absolutely did not see Rainbow Prince coming, nor how much I would unironically love it.

DNA Says I Love you went to a queer space I hadn’t even thought about. 

what have been BLs that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

Bite Me. I will never stop lamenting how much I hurt for Mark Siwat that this project went sideways for no real reason. Star and Sky, too, because goddamn were those boring and irritating. Love Area the series.... just ugh.

what has been your favorite BL this year?

Hmm... this is hard. If I have to pick one, then Gameboys 2. The maturity that show had in the way they handled the complexities of a new couple and the dynamics with their queer friends is sublime. There’s a depth to the way the IdeaFirst Company approaches storytelling that I think gets lost in the conversations about tropes and chemistry.

what's your non-BL favorite this year?

So much. Koisenu Futari for sure, because we never get to see ace stories. Sleep With Me is my favorite GL of the year right now (yes, more than GAP). I enjoyed Extraordinary Attorney Woo a lot (even if I’m unsure how to talk about it due to feedback from autistic folks). Our Flag Means Death. Heartstopper. Young Royals 2. Abbott Elementary. 

I absolutely came apart because of 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us. Cannot reflect on this year without talking about it.
