4x07 // 11x11 Sam meeting Castiel & Eileen

4x07: In a motel room, Sam looks over at Castiel with wonder as he says, “Hello, Sam.” Without thinking, Sam responds, “Oh my god.” Then he catches himself and becomes flustered, saying, “Er– Ah– I didn’t mean to– Sorry.” Castiel watches him, looking stoic.

11x11: At the assisted living facility, Sam says to Eileen, “Alright, um. Thanks.” As he finishes he attempts to sign “Thanks” in ASL, but says, “Fuck you.” instead. Eileen suppresses a smile, holding up a finger and telling him, “It’s, um. Thanks.” as she finishes she uses the correct sign. Sam responds, “Right, of course.” He makes the correct sign for “Thanks” this time. She nods and smiles a bit at him as he says, “Uh, sorry.”

so sam/cas/eileen is up there with sam/rowena/eileen and billie/rowena/amara in my favorite OT3's. however their entire dynamic is built on chaos because sam & cas cannot be alone together without causing trouble. and they both feel safe to be more relaxed & fun around eileen, so her presence only amplifies the chaos (exhibit A: 15x07.)

also it was love at first sight (to me) on the sam & cas and sam & eileen side, it didn't click for cas & eileen until he saw eileen strangle sergei though

Sam and Eileen sit together in the library of the bunker, He slowly takes one of her hands in his own. She holds his eye contact and he seems to come to a decision, moving closer and angling himself towards her more fully.

Suddenly, Sam hears the door to the bunker open, and turns away from her, releasing her hand from his first while setting his other on top slightly. She pulls her hands away as they both turn to look up at the door. They see Castiel who says, “Sam.” as he walks toward the railing. Sam gets up and responds, “Cas?!” and Castiel turns to walk down the stairs. Sam walks down the stairs to the map room, asking, “W– What in the world, man?”

Castiel descends the stairs quickly as Sam moves forward, with Eileen following behind him. He asks Castiel, “Where have you been? I– I’ve been calling and– and texting and–” Castiel answers, “I know. I was–” but he hesitates, glancing away, walking fully into the room as he finishes, “Well, it doesn’t matter, I’m– I’m here now. I’m ready to help.” He turns to Eileen as he finishes and nods, acknowledging her. She grins and quietly says, “Hi.”

Sam slowly turns to Eileen, then realizes something, saying, “Yeah, uh.” He between Castiel and Eileen, gesturing to her with one hand and the other on her shoulder, “Cas, this is Eileen Leahy.” Then he looks at Eileen, points at Castiel, and says, “Eileen, this is Cas.” He moves his hands to his sides and looks at Castiel. Castiel tilts his head a little and Eileen smiles at him, raising her eyebrows.

Castiel turns to look at her, a little concerned, saying, “I thought you were–?” She finishes casually, “Dead? Yeah, I... got better?” She smiles and Sam shrugs a little awkwardly, Castiel nods adjusting to this as Sam tells him, “Uh, one-time thing.” Eileen smiles a little awkwardly.

It’s wild how the Spn writers tried so hard to please every audience that they pleased no one at all

Like, we could’ve had canon sastieleen (polyamory between 2 men and a disabled woman!!!) but the writers didn’t want to commit to anything. There was no saileen, no sastiel, and they never expanded on Cas and Eileen’s dynamic beyond that one episode, really, which is a damn and utter shame because they had AMAZING chemistry.

What I’m saying is, if they hadn’t tried so hard to raise the stakes and to please every faction of fandom, maybe we could’ve had something that wasn’t homophobic, ableist, misogynistic, racist, abuse apologia… am I missing anything ???
