named for the bible "they would have liked that" with her little partition, her little sectioned-off space in the corner of the living room, like a cell in the temple that was mother, that was "i need to be alone or with him but you can't be there too" but where else was she supposed to be?

hi.... i'm just a poor boy . who does not know the loam lore. would you be willing to share.... a summary.... (so curious i am a loam enjoyer)
oh my gosh hi griff..! oh there is so much to tell... i will h ave no choice but to put this under a readmore. the shortest answer is that he is my character of 3+ years in @jawsandbones homebrew dnd campaign and he is like a son to me. but to start off with baby pictures:
Tumblr media
LOAM was born 52 years ago in a city called TILDEN, which is blocked off overland by a CURSED* SWAMP that creeps closer every year.
*Misremembered and only Recently Re-Contextualized Major Historical event
His mom is a shy, worried, and loving woman named Bayla - she's a druid and sells medicinal mushrooms of all sorts. His dad is an unwaveringly positive (but incredibly serious) mason named Uttara who proudly works on all sorts of projects around the city, especially major infrastructure. Yay stoneworkers!
Tumblr media
(Because fantasy lifespans are strange and somewhat silly to me I just imagine Firbolgs to be stuck in their mid-20s existential dread until they're like at least 150. The backstory part of this spans literally 51 of his 52 year s of life. he's so young)
He got equal enrichment from time spent in nature with his mom as from time spent in the city with his dad. His nickname in the Tilden Firbolg community To This Day is "Always With Questions" - a kind of affix to differentiate him from any other Loams. He may not know much but he really would like to find out, please!!!! He sees a lot of beauty in the natural world, but his idea of what's natural is skewed somewhat by the uh, Curse. He once fell through some algae into a deep body of water and had a very fun memento mori experience as a kiddo (beautiful golden sunbeam shining onto a silty skull)
He got the name Loam very young from his interest in both his parents' work, which lead to him learning about soil types and uses in gardening and construction aklfhglskg. Loam was important for both jobs so he (in guess-what-I-just-learned little kid fashion) told everyone who would listen about it. The association STUCK and he's Loam now :].
His birth name is actually Rahara! but that's secret knowledge only his bestest friends and Tzip and some scarycool important NPCs know.
He loves beasts and magic and plants so much. And on the flip side he also loves and is fascinated by architecture and engineering. He never got any like, higher academic schooling or whatever, but had many many different apprenticeship type training relationships from his parents, other tradespeople in the city, from the senior rangers etc etc.
Small break to plug @jawsandbones lore packets for the Quarter Cities (including Tilden), Scarabae, and the overall campaign setting!!!! I'm just gonna talk about stuff without adding too much context of my own because AAA WORD COUNT!!!
The hole in Loam's ear was brought about by a shit ass Tilden local trying to tear his earring off him, since he'd bought it from a foreign merchant from a city Tilden/the Quarter has historically warred with. Loam's always been open minded and deeply curious about other cities, due to how isolated the bog is. Any visiting merchants are sources of wonder!!!! Even though he only bought the one hoop earring from the Quietus merchants (Mirjam and Mihail, mother and son!), after the ice was broken he stayed by their stall the rest of the day and talked about all kinds of things, and befriended Mihail!
Loam trained as a ranger as soon as he was old enough to do so!!!! He saw it as the next logical step past what his parents would be able to show him and was incredibly eager to get hands-on experience in the wilds. He met his first ever boyfriend among his peers there!!! Bragi... he has had many lovers and situationships in Tilden since, BUT only recently feels comfortable trying monogamy again after meeting Tzipporah.
Bragi unfortunately died badly to a creature in a traumatic backstory incident that left young Loam super fucking bereft and hyper aware of how easy it is to die. (Big monster attack + group of trainee rangers accompanied by a few more senior rangers + chaos and bloodshed. Loam carried Bragi to safety and tried resuscitating him but he was already gone. The experience made him uncomfortable with the idea of being in a defined, monogamous intimate relationship for the next like. 19 years. He felt like he got ripped in half!)
Tumblr media
After the ranger's guild recovers from THE CREATURE ATTACK, Loam meets his close friend, Reece, a fellow ranger and Kenku (she looks like a masked shrike)!!!
He gets his septum pierced by the same visiting merchants from Quietus a few years after Bragi's death. It's a very important moment for him, where it feels like he can finally start to let himself change and grow beyond that event. He also spends more and more time in the city, away from the more rural/overgrown districts, and chases a love for the arts and partying and people, where he meets Kallirhoe (human, not a even a classed bard but like. an indie musician. an eboy if high fantasy had eboys. a tattooed twinkish fellow. you know the type)! They are very good friends who also have sex. Many days spent waxing poetic about THE BIG WIDE WORLD and how they'll never get to see it. (Spoiler: He sees it)
Loam gets into tarot as a hobby, and makes his own deck in a very scribbly freehand style with ink and charcoal!!!! he's slowly replacing them with more Worldly artwork - the deck he left home with was very. Tildencore
Tumblr media
Many good years of being a party girl who has to go work a construction job tomorrow and then go be a ranger at 6. A rich and storied life. AND THEN THE GAME TIMELINE STARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A path Through the bog has recently finished being built by Dagda, the Southern representative to the other Quarter Cities, making more trade possible overland, and making local tensions go even crazier. Also there are strange Awful Huge Scary Monsters appearing WORLDWIDE, so the Directions and the Three Kings of Scarabae and the remote island of Geest (ADRA'S HOME!) and the mysterious magical Widow's Wood are all like "STOP WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING RN". Trials are held in the Western city of Dina to appoint FOUR TEAMS OF FOUR to help defend against the new threat. Loam is like. Well I've gotta fucking do that. I've got to try. If I'm not chosen, at least I've set foot outside. He has a fight with his mom about this, because she is terrified she will lose him, like she lost her mother in a previous conflict when Scarabae was occupying the Quarter, before Loam was born. He stands firm and his dad has his back, and ultimately he leaves with both their blessings, but his dismissal of his mom's feelings weighs heavy on him the longer he's away from home. (He has a big cry and reconciliation about this when he is next able to come home.)
I'm clapping and cheering and skipping joyfully because now he HAS MET HIS BESTEST, DEAREST, CLOSEST FRIENDS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD: ADRA ILSA AND TALEE!!!!!!! I have to be so careful now because we have no joke hundreds of pages of notes. I cannot read that shit on google docs mobile app. We are approaching session one hundred and fifty of this game. They love each other so fucking much. THEY ARE THE INFORMATION GATHERERS!!! A PARTY OF SLEUTHS!!!
He also has his meet-cute with Tzipporah at the trials, which in hindsight is hilarious, because of the whole, "Tzipporah was sent to the trials as a spy (by the very people responsible for the giant awful monster crisis) and immediately pegged Loam for an easy mark to get information from" thing. And he was 100% correct. But a lot has to happen before that gets revealed. They took a nice night walk and write each other big long letters. And Loam tells him soooooo much <3
At one point while exploring a wizard tower he attunes to a lightly cursed ring and forgets what his parents look like, like their likenesses are Gone from past and recent memory. Which is a big thorn of homesickness that he writes to them about. He has a big cry and stares at them both for a LONG time when he next sees them.
Also they save an orphaned Kenku from some bandits and now Loam has a little shoulder-sniper named Bubby. We have a son. A perfect little crow son who is really good at killing, with arrows. He hides things in Loam's hood regularly
Other major things include ummm umm Loam's TWO deaths, one during a dungeon-rescue type scenario in a room that was Flooding and full of Phantoms and also a charmed Druid (Feyan, good friends now) wildshaped into a big scary water snake. He was hurt bad and (comedically) levitated so he wouldn't DROWN but then got Phantom Speared right through the torso. Second one was because Tzip's evil half brother Vences was like, mad at him for being a good influence on Tzipporah and interfering with the spy duties. Chill touch so no healing + dagger in the ribs! Ow. Also the reveal that Tzip was a spy was happening like, simultaneously here so we were yowling and screaming. (Well. Talee and Co had their long time hunches about this. Loam and I had turned a beautiful blind eye to all suspicious activity)
ANYWAY HIS DEATH SCARS LOOK LIKE A COMET ABOVE HIS BELLY!!!! The spear scar made a patch of his fur turn white (front and back), and the dagger scar is its crude tail!
Tumblr media
I am skipping over so many plot revelations i. This is just the Loam Cut. and it's not even all of it.
His buzzcut was for emotional superstitious reasons!!! He cut it after Death 2 and Tzipporah getting taken against his will back into Evil Gang. Loam's mom has a lock of his hair at home now. ALL THIS TO SAY TZIP IS OKAY, NO LONGER SPYING, WE RESCUED HIM AND RIPPED A MASK OFF HIM AND SAVED HIM FROM GETTING HIS MIND EXCAVATED ! SO LOAM IS GROWING HIS HAIR OUT AGAIN!
The deaths of his close friends and their allies have also been. insane for him to process. To return someone to life in this setting u need to like. entreat a Titan. plead on the deceased's behalf and offer something up for the chance to revive them. (NO player spells like revivify. house rule) So interacting with these entities he sees as like Both forces of the natural world AND of huge religious/cultural importance regionally. And to have their requests be HEARD? He loves magic he loves Titans. And the plot is unfolding in such a way that scares me so bad. He loves his titan (The Curious Spear) SOOOO MUCH he has like the foundational belief that it can see through his eyes. Even if not true it motivates him to always seek understanding of strange new things.
Oh my god I didn't even talk about his multiclass into druid. He's a druid also. Circle of the Stars!! As a navigational point. He loves them. He loves space. He loves geography and regional interpretations of constellations. He used to just do freehand observations but truly became dedicated to charting the skies of every place the party travels to, after Tzipporah gifted him a grid-lined journal <3 <3 <3 STARRY FORM!!!!!!
Tumblr media
His awe and inspiration and hunger for knowledge is the well he draws magical power from. My Boy is thematically bound up in the soggiest parts of this earth and also the unknowably distant stars above and I'm normal about it (lie) (There is a new and scary Third Thing rising which is the space between. I <3 Void). I know i draw him beige and green but his like, character colour theme is. Dusk to me. Gloaming. When the world is lit like a dream <3
In summary. In conclusion. He and Adra and Ilsa and Talee (and the rest of the Four of Four) are trying to prevent Global Disaster of an existential scale never before seen and are being very brave about it.
Loam wants to understand everything about Everything. Because understanding is love. Unfortunately there are hostile resentful and vengeful forces making this hard to do. Most recently by saving a city we Unmade a magically sustained centuries-old library. And we haven't had time to like fully let that sink in. Because of the horrors of war and being Four of Four means responding to emergencies and protecting cities as best we can against a foe that was forgotten by history until like, 10 months ago. Less, even. I hope this is anything. I hope u are his friend now too because he is yours
good lord how could i forget. His gender is male in such a way that he does not give a shit about it. He's one of the girls. He's genderless. Like a knight. His sense of identity is built on Living Laughing and Loving.
his personal goals are 1. to uncurse the bog in such a way that the wrongs committed by Tilden historically are brought to light and righted, 2. to get super married to Tzipporah and build a house together, and 3. to somehow, eventually, through great teamwork and effort, cure(?) the dreadful lingering soul plague on the island of demeter. HUMBLE! OH and to make a finished star chart covering the entire planet. humble.
thank u for reading here are his current stats

Don't leave, not now. -NessPoo fic I made today
Step. step. another step. another step again. Run. Keep on running. We're almost out. That was the only thing in the young boy's mind. his friends out of their breath, they kept on running, and running, and running, and then, Yes! Light!
The four of them raced towards the exit, exahusted after the hellish fight marathon that was the ancient pyramid of Scaraba. The heat of the outside, as unbearable as it was, was heavenly. Not because of the feeling, but because, finally, they could rest... kinda.
The boy in red cap took a huge breath, in and out, his entire body sweaty and ruined, some broken bones here and there, but it was alright, they were alright, all was alright. But only a thought, a single thought raced in the boy's mind that cancelled his joy in a moment.
"The eye... W-Where's the Hawk eye!?"
He searched in his backpack, on himself, on the sand, even under his cap, but nothing. He looked behind him, seeing two of his other friends searching relentlessly for the artifact. The one in the pink dress was breathlessly searching in her purse, and the one with the thick glasses and huge bowtie in his toolbox.
It wasn't long before the third friend, dressed up in his now iconic karate gi, opened his hands, showing the ancient item that they so desperately needed. It, fortunately, remained in his safe clutches all along.
The boy screamed, running towards him at the highest speed his broken bones, the sand and his chubby legs could permit him, and hugged tightly his beloved friend, some tears of joy and fear coming from his eyes, he still needed to fully process what just happened from the moment they took the Hawk eye, to the chase, to the exact moment in which they were now.
Not a single word was needed, the friend just put an arm around the young leader, and let him have his moment. He must've been so scared.
While he waited, the unusually dressed friend took a water bottle from his purse, the last one he had, and drank it all down on one go. The boy stopped whimpering as he felt his physical pain getting washed away. He gently detatched from his friend, sniffing, and immediately looked up, his lucid eyes meeting the other's stoic, yet gentle ones.
"Feeling any better, Master Ness?"
Polite and composed as usual, as if nothing happened. Man, this guy had an internal strenght that was genuenly scary sometimes, not that he seemed too happy about it tho...
"Y-yeah.. a bit... thank you, Poo..."
The moment tho, was cut short, as a small wind hit everyone in the face, forcing them to close their eyes to prevent any sand going in their eyes. The sound accompaining the wind, unknown to most of the team, made the martial artist alert, his head pointing up as he saw something, no, someone, coming from the sky. Standing gracefully on his tiptoes, dressed up only in a long and intricate leaf poncho of sorts, with a single, long stick to support him, a very, very old man, appeared in front of the group.
"And... you are...?"
The friend with glasses started, not bothering with being polite for just how stressed he was, but still having the willpower to put his hands behind his back, like a villain of some kids cartoon. Unfazed by the remark of the inventor, the men pointed straight at the prince, who, despite not showing it, was sweating.
"We meet again, Prince Pù, Or should I say, 'Rai Ranma'."
The boy was confused, who was that man? why did he refer to Poo as Rai Ranma? and most importantly, what did he even wanted? His questions were barely answered, as his friend, reluctantly, started walking towards the man, weakly holding the young one's hand for as long as he could, before the last two fingers connecting them separated. The breath got heavier, faster, both unable to say a word. The prince eventally reached the man, his expression as blank as he could, as he was always taught to be, for everyone's safety.
"The skies foretold our encounter, it is time for you to live away from your friends, and learn the way of the Starstorm. Do you understand?"
The boy gasped, desperately reaching for his friend, who solemnly looked down in understanding, his eyes closed as he listened to the speech.
"... there's only one answer. Its what you must do, even if nor you, nor your dearest one want it."
He continued sternly, as if reading in the two's minds. The prince turned around, facing his 'master', his soul getting immediately crushed at the sight of him on the verge of crying. He took the boy's hands in his, holding them as if it was the last thing he would ever do, and gently rubbed his thumb on the surface of the smaller one's hand, as if to reassure him.
"It is important that I study and learn the way of the Starstorm, it will be must helpful to us..."
The prince stated, his eyes serious but tender under those thick, black eyebrows, as he tried to find the correct words to reassure his precious red capped friend, who did his best to not bust into tears here and there, he despised goodbyes.
"... Once I learn it, I will meet up with you, Ness. Trust me... I'll come back. It's a promise..."
The boy nodded, sniffing and rubbing his eye to dry away his tears. It was so damn much for him to handle, first he was running for his life, and then the person that he had so much admiration for was being brought away from him. It hurt, it hurt even more than it actually had to.
Eventually, the two separated once again, the martial artist gently letting the baseball player's hands go, as him, in response, reluctantly stepped away, just enough to give his friend enough space.
"The reunion will depend on Rai's efforts, until then, you must have patience and faith in your friend."
The man tapped the sand two times with his stick, as the prince walked right beside him, his gaze still posed on Ness, who couldn't stop looking at him back. The wind started to slowly build up again, the impossibly long ponytail of the prince flowing with grace and beauty.
"Farwell."
And with that single word, the two disappeared right in front of the three, who sadly waved goodbye at their friend, hoping to see him again, as soon as possible.

Thad
oh no you’ve activated my compulsion to talk endlessly about Jerkass Dictator Grandpa and Angry Green Clone Boi because they are both Thads.
(Note: This will be a scattering of thoughts and general overview, since there’s no specific topic given. Also I put a read more because it’s a Lot.)
President Thawne of 30th Century EarthGov is Grade A Asshole. His love is strangulation and an unforgiving, stubborn ideal on what his loved ones should be and how they best serve him, not who they are or what they want. He is obsessed with killing and winning over the Allens. Meloni and Bart should have punched him until his nose broke.
It’s basically stated that Thad the First Bitch only thinks of Bart in how he could weaponize and use him, not as an actual grandson, likely because he considers Bart’s Allen heritage to be a corrupting influence. The VR stimulation to weaponize him failed as Bart was taken by Iris, though there was the long term effect of Bart being conditioned to fight ‘bad guys’ and ‘obstacles’ first and save innocents/civilians second (”Bad guys are worth more points.”).
Thawne openly chided Bart (during the Future Carol arc) for caring about civilian and being able to be swayed by a hostage situation, and remarked that they were going to have to work on that. It’s chilling how ruthless and uncaring about others he is, and how he wasn’t hesitant on killing babies or his grandson, only Meloni because she was his daughter (a Thawne that he was angry that Don Allen had touched). This is a trait that he passes down to Thad II. Or rather, he forces onto Thad II.
(He is also a dumbass because he tried to use the hyper-ray on the entire planet when it was shown that the long-term effects would essentially wipe out all of humanity. His daughter is too good for him and Meloni deserves to live in the 21st century with her son. I can go on a whole tangent about Meloni but I gotta stay on track.)
Since Bart refused to be weaponized, Thad the Second was created.
Thaddeus Thawne II, a.k.a Inertia, is defined by hatred and isolation. He was incubated alone, raised alone, and born alone. He was never taught how to interact with people beyond manipulation and deception, so he believes most people are inferior or a waste of time. The only non-negative relationship he had was with Craydl, the living computer warehouse that was programmed to provide for every physical need and serve him. He has no loving relationships and so cannot comprehend what it means to sacrifice oneself for love.
Developed for a singular purpose to right a blood-feud for centuries until it was part of the very bedrock of his self, until the hatred he was taught made him violent and instinctively homicidal toward Bart Allen and his associates. Thad only knows what he has been told. Thad does evil things because he believes it is rightful revenge, because it is what he was made to do, because killing and replacing Bart Allen was the promise of a fulfilled mission.
Inertia is the superior of Impulse in every way but one- happiness. For all of his honed fighting abilities, his brilliant intellect, his reduced aging and analytical analysis, Thad Thawne doesn’t have the loving family or personal happiness that Impulse does.
Thad Thawne is alone. Who loves Thad ? Who raised Thad ? Who would die for Thad to protect him? Who is proud of him? Who will be there to care for Thad when he is sick and infirm? Who is Thad willing die for?
Thad had no one but the vengeful ghost of President Thawne’s ambitions and Professor Zoom’s bitter obsession. The panels in Mercury Falling where Thad realizes this is just so fantastic- they’re some of my favorite moments in comic.
Because in that moment, Thad hated more than he ever hated before. He hated Bart for existing and having Max’s pride. He hated his creators for lying to him and giving him an empty existence. He hated others for having loving relationships, and he hated himself for being unable to comprehend and have them, only knowing that he wanted.
Thad was a tragic, complex villain. He is compelling and so fucking theatrical it’s hilarious (he should have kept the cloak and ohmygod his monologues). He is much more than the mere evil clone of Bart. He had (has) so much potential and it’s such a shame how DC threw that in the trash just to have him to be Bart’s nemesis.
It would have been more interesting to see the breaking of the cycle of Allen-Thawne feuding. It would have been lovely to see Thad Thawne slowly grow an identity beyond killing/replacing Bart, beyond serving the Thawnes, and just be a kid, regardless of how long he was in development. I don’t need him to be a superhero or anything like that. But it would have been so nice and warming to see someone as damaged and neglected by circumstance like Thad find his own happiness and family.
(Max raising two speedster sons and teaching them how to be normal people in between hijinks- oh that would have wonderful. DC bring back Max Mercury it’s been years ;-; )

The Gift of Water [Solanaceae Spotify Playlist]
Hey everyone!
After years and years of forgetting to or not having the time to-- I finally re-made my Solanaceae playlist within Spotify. (Above is the playlist art!) Some songs are missing since they aren't on Spotify (Grim Grinning Ghosts, Kogarashi, New Scaraba Bazaar) but I'm hoping since now the playlist is in a program I'm using more and more, that I will be more likely to find songs that fit Solanaceae and add them to the playlist.
And yep! That's about it!
If you were ever curious about songs I associate with Solanaceae in general-- well here's your answer!
Thanks everyone!

Chapter 5.2: 0.1 Years
Year 1, day 38: Using lumber purchased from a mill near Threed (Way of the Mob for the win), we built a dock on Beak Point. Wasn’t easy getting down the cliff from the ocean, but having more than one team member capable of flight made it easier. We also built a high sturdy fence around the entire cape. Good thing Cody was good enough with money to buy all the necessary permits.
Today, the expedition team to explore the world set off. Terra, Manaphy, Anita, Cody, and I waved goodbye to Tooty, Twig, Bolt, Bitbit, and Timothy (who have named themselves Team BLT, for two B’s, three T’s, and a Load of adventure… Tooty should not be allowed to make up names anymore…) and watched them sail westward. I told them to make sure to avoid the waters between Summers and Scaraba for awhile, since there was a vicious kracken hanging around wrecking ships there, to which Bolt reminded us he was an Electric-type Pokémon. Godspeed to them, and be safe.
Because lord knows I’m probably going to have my hands full.
The other day, it occurred to me to ask the notebook what it meant by youth having its advantages. It was quite vague about the answer, stating only that my strength in my child form form would increase as I fought with it. I’m not sure what would benefit being strong as a kid or teenager would do, but there was a chance I had PSI. Did it mean I would only get PSI powers while in this child form? I already exhibited some high-level engineering knowledge for my age that I’m certain I didn’t pick up before while constructing the dock. It made me think of Jeff, the one party member in the game that didn’t have PSI.
In any case, it was clear it wanted me to fight in this human child form while in this world. Which is why, while we were in Threed, I picked up a minor league-quality baseball bat. I suspect I’m going to need it.

Meloni. Just. Pour your heart out.
OKAY SO MY THOUGHTS ARE SCATTERED AGAIN SO i’M JUST GOING TO:
Bart is Meloni’s son. Through and through, in both physical appearance and persona. He looks nothing like his Allen grandfather and nothing like his Thawne grandfather. Beyond general looks and a relatively short appearance, Don and Dawn Allen didn’t get much fleshing out in the preboot comics, so I can’t draw conclusions on what Bart specifically gained from Don (though I have some headcanons about it). Bart has always had a stronger relationship/longing for his mother than his father. Bart doesn’t think of Don a lot because he’s never met him but Meloni?
Meloni rebelled against her father and went back in time to find her son, who Iris took without even telling her (I love Iris but damn she should have told Meloni where Bart was). Even in that brief time they had together, you could just feel the oozing agonizing love Bart and Meloni have for one another, the longing to be together. And how quick Meloni was to jump in front of her son into her father’s crosshairs, willing to sacrifice herself for Jenni and her son- she is the anathema of her father. Whereas he was willing to slaughter innocents and cared nothing for his grandson, Meloni was willing to give everything for her loved ones.
Meloni who lost her husband and sister-in-law. Meloni who’s alone in the 31st century and kept under watch in her father’s strangling hold. How could anyone not love her?
Meloni is the sunshine mom who deserves to be with her children in the 21st century away from her shitty father and shitty family. She’s funny, joyful, sacrificial, so genuinely good, and loves her kids so much. Kids as in plural because I have not forgotten Owen Mercer, who probably doesn’t know that his mom is Meloni.
(Who’s Owen Mercer? Why, he’s the second Captain Boomerang. And the son of Digger Harkness. Meloni had a son with Digger Harkness when he had a future adventure. I’m not sure why Meloni had to give up Owen but it most likely had to do with Thad the First Bitch.)
One of the most heartbreaking lines Meloni has ever said- “I must play the good daughter while my son grows up without me.”
That really summarizes the tragedy of her life. In order to protect her son, she has to give him up and let him be raised by someone else. Even as Max is a great father-figure to Bart, it’s still really sad and painful to see Meloni be torn away from her son. That Christmas special made my chest ache.
And just. Meloni and Bart have so much potential pertaining their Thawne and Allen relations, even the Boomerang connection (let Owen met his mommm). So far in my search in Flash comics, there’s not a lot of discussion about Bart being half-Thawne or about Meloni rebelling against her father (besides Thawne making a comment about it and never bringing it up again). I don’t remember reading anything about Bart keeping his Thawne heritage a secret, but I assumed that this relevation would have been well. More dramatic considering that Eobard Thawne is Barry’s archnemesis and the blood-feud thing is a millennia spanning. And a storyline like this would give Meloni and Bart an opportunity to drop kick Thad I into the ocean.
Even if it isn’t a big deal for the Flash fam (as it probably wouldn’t since “you are not your parents’ etc. etc.) but like. Wouldn’t Eobard be super pissed at the mere existence of Bart and try to kill him multiple times? And it would be interesting to see Bart make the decision to accept both sides of his heritage because both his dad and mom are heroes to him, his dad saving the world from the Dominators and Meloni always protecting and watching over him.

HCs for Carol?
Bart and Carol have each other phone numbers and text each other often. Bart tells her everything that happens using emojis and memes. Carol responds back in full grammatically correct sentences. They are also wlw/mlm solidarity. They only dated for a brief time before realizing they were both gay. Now they send each LGBT memes and jokes.
I also do wish that it was shown that Carol and Bart kept in contact, as well as Bart's other friends. Like Bart's friendship with Carol was a big part of multiple arcs in his solo comic run. Geoff Johns should have at least mentioned her but w/e I don't expect him to have actual passion and understanding of Bart's character considering the Teen Titans 2003 run.

Bart is really smart.
You're damn right he is. Boy built a time machine at 12/13 and has a photographic memory. It's just his impatience and tendency to leap ahead (results from his lightspeed thinking and childhood) that makes people think he's dumb.

HCs for Preston?
Hm, I don't really have any, at least at the moment. But I liked his storyline and how it handled the cycle of abuse. I liked his character, his filmmaking dreams, and friendship with Bart. The civilian aspect of the Impulse run was intertwined well with Bart's hero life/adventures, and Bart's hangouts with his civilian friends were fun to read.
