Btw— if you aren’t able to go to any of the Sonic Symphony dates, they do have the 30th anniversary (2021) concert album on Spotify. There are definitely some songs specific to this year’s concert, but they did pull a number of orchestral arrangements/live performances from the 2021 shows for this year's setlist.
I did a full breakdown comparing the LA 2023 setlist (provided by Shota Nakama) to the 30th Anniversary album below.
Here are the tracks on the 30th Anniversary album that appeared at this year’s LA concert (AKA, available for you to listen!):
Orchestral Arrangements
Sonic the Hedgehog Medley
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Medley
Sonic Mania Medley
Believe in Myself ~ It doesn’t matter
Chao Medley (it’s pretty long on Spotify?)
Crush 40
I am… All of Me
Open Your Heart
Knight of the Wind
Escape from the City
Reach for the Stars
Endless Possibility
Live and Learn
Full orchestral arrangements of the following songs were performed at the LA/2023 concerts. However, they first appeared within these medleys in the 30th Anniversary album:
Sky Sanctuary (in the Sonic 3 and Knuckles medley)
Rooftop Run (in the Sonic Unleashed medley)
Aquarium Park-Planet Wisp (in the Sonic Colors Medley)
The following songs are unique to the LA/2023 concerts. I am not sure if the set list is changing for other dates this year, as Jun Senoue, Tomoya Ohtani, Johnny Gioeli, and Kellin Quinn were guests that appeared at the LA concert and are only be performing at select cities.:
Sonic CD medley
Sonic Frontiers Medley
What I’m Made Of
Sonic Superstars Opening Theme
Break Through it All (Kellin Quinn)
Undefeatable (Kellin Quinn)
The following songs were performed live by Crush 40 at the LA 2023 concert, but previously appeared as part of orchestral medleys in the 30th Anniversary album:
His World (within 30th anniversary Sonic 2006 Medley)
Fist Bump (within 30th anniversary Sonic Forces Medley)
I hope this rundown is helpful for you all! I know this is not the same as going to the concert itself, but I’ve seen a number of people asking for an album and wanted to share what was already put out there. Happy listening!

Hi Days! I just watched the Kabuki documentary with Ikuta Toma the other day and it was really interesting! I was surprised (and happy) to see Shun Oguri there too! I'm curious though if you've watched/followed other shows of any other Japanese celebrity? I also just finished watching "First Love" with Takeru Sato and Hikari Mitsushima the other day, it was a lovely series ❤️
Hello born!!! The Kabuki documentary was really, really interesting, right???? Finding out about how he was just coasting through being a trainee and realizing one day that everyone (Arashi ahhhh) was debuting except for him, it's like 💔 But he really found his own path!!! And I was also surprised to see Oguri Shun there! Just, like a surprise treat for all the fans??? I had no idea that they were such close friends.
*big sighs* I don't have the time to invest in regularly watching dramas. I do really, really want to watch First Love! Mostly because I want to support Netflix in carrying more Japanese dramas. Also who doesn't love Utada Hikaru.
I'm not sure if you're asking about current or in the past, but when I was a teenager, I watched
Hana Yori Dango starring MatsuJun, Inoue Mao, and Oguri Shun
Nobuto wo Produce starring Kamenashi Kazuya, Horikita Maki, and Yamapi
Kurosagi (2006) starring Yamapi - they've remade this recently starring Hirano Sho (King & Prince)
Gokusen 1, 2, and 3 starring Nakama Yukie
Kisarazu Cat's Eye starring Okada Junichi (ok did you watch him in The Fable on Netflix because if not, you absolutely must!!!)
Dragon Zakura starring Abe Hiroshi
Hana Kimi starring Horikita Maki, Ikuta Toma, and Oguri Shun
1 Litre no Namida starring Nishikido Ryo and Sawajiri Erika
Liar Game 1 and 2 starring Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika
Densha Otoko starring Ito Atsushi and Ito Misaki
Koizora (film) starring Miura Haruma and Aragaki Yui
Tantei Gakuen Q (film & drama) starring Kamiki Ryunosuke, Shida Mirai, and Yamada Ryosuke
Seigi no Mikata starring Shida Mirai and Yamada Yu
My Boss My Hero starring Nagase Tomoya
Ryuusei no Kizuna starring Ninomiya Kazunari, Toda Erika, and Nishikido Ryo
Chekaraccho!! (Check It Out Yo!!) (film) starring Ichihara Hayato, Inoue Mao, and Hiraoka Yuta
Hero SP starring Kimura Takuya
I am certain that there's others that I don't have listed here, but basically I mostly watched dramas that starred Johnny's idols in the mid-2000s. I was a big Toda Erika, Aragaki Yui, and Shida Mirai fan. By 2008, I was moving onto Taiwanese and Korean fandoms, so like Takeru Satoh? I didn't watch anything with him in it even though he's a big name actor now, he was only just starting to get name recognition in 2008.
I have watched a few current films!! So actually I recently watched Mitsushima Hikari in Tang and Me starring Ninomiya Kazunari. She was so good. The plot of Tang was awful, but everyone's acting was SO HIGH TIER that the film was worth watching. I have high expectations for her in First Love. Also I watched The Fable film series on Netflix starring Okada Junichi, and yes. Yes. One of the best movies I've watched this year.
In terms of current dramas... I saw the first episode of Koi Nante, Honki De Yatte Dousuru No? (Who Needs True Love?) which stars Matsumura Hokuto and Hirose Alice. I really want to watch the rest of this because I think it will help me finish writing my fic "Genghis Khan." But. The Japanese is slightly too difficult for me to understand :( I heard from my friend that Hokuto's sex appeal is to-die-for in this drama. If I can't watch him in Koi Nante, I know that I'll at least get to hear him voice act in Shinkai's Suzume no Tojimari once it hits American theaters.
I also watched the first episode of Silent, which stars Meguro Ren and Kawaguchi Haruna. It comes highly recommended by my friends. It took a ton of brainpower for me to understand the first episode, though. My friends have way better Japanese comprehension than me. It really seems like Matsumura Hokuto and Meguro Ren are names to keep an eye on in Japanese entertainment these days.
My friends also really want me to watch Cherry Magic starring Akaso Eiji and Machida Keita. I feel like I've watched it already because I've seen so many clips of it here on Tumblr haha.
I'm sorry this was a huge response 😓 for a simple check-in. I guess I just summarized and relived several years of Japanese pop culture obsession in the past two hours of writing this out. Thoughts on anything I've written here? :D

Final Fantasy XV music
Final Fantasy XV: Original Soundtrack is mainly composed by Yoko Shimomura, who is known for her involvement with the Kingdom Hearts series. Shimomura was responsible for at least 80% of the soundtrack; the rest of the pieces are variations of her compositions that were handled by other people. Yoshitaka Suzuki worked as composer/arranger, and Shota Nakama worked as composer/arranger/orchestrator. Shota runs a group called Video Game Orchestra (VGO) that does rock symphonic concerts and operates in the recording industry. VGO was contracted to work for Final Fantasy XV, and Shota conducted all recording sessions and contracted the orchestras and the choirs. Every line ensemble was through VGO, and Shota's team mixed it as well. This is the first time a Final Fantasy game uses a North American orchestra. Suzuki worked on the game for one year, on and off, and did have a crunch time. In total, he did around twenty-five pieces. At the same time, he was also composing for the movie, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Nakama started working on the game in 2014, and worked on the trailers. Some themes featured on Final Fantasy XV: Original Soundtrack aim to encompass "friendship" and "filial bonds." Shimomura tried many different methods, discussed with directors to share the world view, looked at images for inspiration, and read and took in the story to be inspired. The way Suzuki composed for the game was to get many gameplay videos. He imported them to his software, and then composed to the video as if he was in the game as a player. The sadness for the compositions thus came intuitively. Visually, he realized what was happening in the game, seeing it from two different points of view—composer and player—and tried to incorporate whatever emotion he was experiencing into it. Suzuki has cited his experience with composing for the Metal Gear series as an advantage when he composed music for the base infiltration scenes in Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy has such a long legacy, and the composers valued its spirit, and thus would throw in the "Prelude" (such as in "Hellfire"), and put in little fragments of the previous melodies and motifs. Yoko Shimomura was working on Final Fantasy XV: Original Soundtrack even when Final Fantasy XV was still known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Since the game was not originally part of the main Final Fantasy series, Shimomura felt she did not need to worry about following in other Final Fantasy composers' footsteps. By the time Final Fantasy XV was announced, Shimomura had already developed a clear concept of how she could continue on her initial path. The rebranding of Final Fantasy Versus XIII necessitated new music. Sho Iwamoto, audio programmer at Square Enix, talked at Game Developers' Conference 2017 how music is incorporated into Final Fantasy XV. He designed and implemented an interactive music system, as there was a worry making the music interactive would distort the music or not make it memorable. According to Iwamoto, Final Fantasy music is known for being epic, memorable, to have a strong melody line, and to be one of the selling points of the series. The aim was to have seamless transitions while not losing "epicness". The goal was not to avoid repeating the same music, but to enhance the player's emotional experience by playing applicable music that would suit the situation. For example, when riding a chocobo, the music picks up pace when the bird trots. The music also changes when the chance to summon appears and when the player summons, and during set piece boss battles, to reflect what is happening, such as the music fading into a dramatic finish just as the boss dies. In outposts like Hammerhead and at Galdin Quay, the background music seamlessly changes when the player steps into the restaurant. The transition time for the chocobo music is set longer so that the music would not change every time the player must slow down to avoid a tree or to turn. Release The album was released on December 21, 2016. The basic soundtrack was released on 4 standard CDs and on Blu-ray, which includes the music, movie data, and active internet support. A limited edition version was also released. It contained the Blu-ray soundtrack with two bonus videos, a CD with select song arrangements, and a "Special Music Collection" Blu-ray with select tracks from all numbered Final Fantasy titles, Dissidia and Dissidia 012, Type-0, Justice Monsters Five, and Kingsglaive.
