EDDTOBER MASTERPOST 2019!

ABOUT:

Eddtober is a list of prompts made in an effort to encourage the Eddsworld Fandom to spread their wings of creativity beyond the norms that they are used to, during the month of October.

It is all without harming others or causing drama, a neutral ground for all fans of Eddsworld to come and have fun, no matter what side of a discourse they’re in.

It hopes to promote inspiration beyond the usual over-dramatised content, to revive a spirit in Eddsworld that hasn’t been seen in many years, and to stretch the invitation to all who can create.

Eddtober calls not only the artists who have a talent for drawing and painting and so forth, but also: the authors (fanfics, journalists, essayists, diarists, poets, ramblers), the cosplayers, the video-makers (animators, video essays, memers, youtubers), the gamers (game devs, let’s plays) and more. Eddtober calls for all those who want to be inspired with unconventional creativity.

So Eddheads: come forth, be inspired and make something new!

With that out the way, steel yourselves - this post is gonna be a long one under the cut!

RULES:

Base Rules need to be set so everyone can participate in Eddtober safely and in a fun way. Please read them carefully!

Always tag it with #eddtober and tag appropriately! Of course, the first part is easy. In regards to the second part, there’s three categories. All they have in common is that they must be tagged with their own tag and NOT in the main eddtober tag. These specific tags musn’t be shortened or reimagined either, just to make sure. Side Note: If you don’t want to see ANY of these things mentioned in the categories, it’s recommended that you get some form of a blacklist extention, either Tumblr Savior, xKit, or even tumblr itself to hide those things from you. Though do beware - be careful when looking through the blog since… Yeah, it’s hard to blacklist stuff through there. a) Gore. Gore and related NSFW is allowed in the challenge, but please tag it as #Eddtober gore, alongside the appropriate trigger warnings of the subject as #tw -trigger here- . The creative piece should also be posted with a ‘keep reading’ redirection so it isn’t immediately seen by those who are repulsed by it. b) Shipping. As of 2019, shipping is now officially allowed and acceptable in the challenge! If you have any ships implied or shown in a prompt response, always use #eddtober shipping and what ship it is in a seperate tag. c) (In)Famous Fan Projects. As of 2019, a lot of dividing opinions have been flying around the community and splitting people apart. In an event of unity and neutrality, these opinions are still welcomed, but still have to be done carefully. If you’re in favour of a fan-project, go ahead and tag them alongside ’#eddtober fan project’. But if you’re not, then you don’t have to tag them - just use ’#eddtober fan project salt’. And yes, those are the exact tags. No need to alter them here.

Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others. I know many of us here in this fandom can take easy offence to certain creations, so please consider and think on your creative piece before you make and post it. If it’s intentionally insulting and offensive, don’t post or even create it at all.

Credit Where Due. This should be blatantly obvious right now, but please, please don’t steal other’s creative fanwork or post it without credit. Always have permission from the creator to post something of their’s, regardless of the social media, and always have their username when you post it, not just ‘credit to the artist/original person’. If you do not follow this, actions will be taken for your consequences. This also goes for spreading Eddtober - always place a link to this blog if you spread the list to other social medias!

Keep your situation and life chill. You can do one prompt for Eddtober, some of the prompts or all of them - up to you! It’s understandable if life gets in the way. The goal of Eddtober is not to do every prompt, but to be inspired to create fan-content in a way you usually wouldn’t have.

Spread the word. This is less of a rule and more of a personal request from Admin Chris, but since she doesn’t have many social media accounts you’d expect, spreading word of Eddtober (with appropriate credit back to this blog) would mean a LOT, so they can join in the fun too!

Sharing is caring. Reblogging and sharing from your fellow creators doing Eddtober would be great to give them a motivation and confidence boost! (Keep in mind that reposting is not the same as reblogging, unless proper credit is given with the original artists’ permission.)

Go Beyond the Boundaries of Your Imagination. The whole purpose of Eddtober is to promote new, fresh things to come up in the Eddsworld fandom and break a cycle of the same old that’s been there for a while. Take a leap, spread your wings, do your best, and go have fun.

BOUNDARIES:

Most of this list will be related to Rule Two of Eddtober:

Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others.

Whilst Eddtober is a fun, neutral place to spread our creative wings, there are boundaries that need to be taken in order to keep everyone safe. Which means certain parts that are usually seen as ‘common’ within the Eddsworld Fandom will not be acceptable in the challenge. This list is just to make sure that we as the Eddtober community can set a good standard for the fandom and for ourselves.

Edd Gould’s death. Admin Chris wishes to make it clear that creative pieces that draws clear lines to Edd’s passing IS NOT okay. This includes Edd (IRL and the character) in hospital for cancer, Angel Edd or any AU that depicts him as a divine being of any sort (including Blessworld), in Heaven or Hell (as an actual denizen there, not a tourist like in Hello Hellhole. There’s a strong difference). Here at Eddtober, Edd's life is something to be celebrated, not his death. It’s uncomfortable to see this thing happen and should be steered clear of.

Fetishisation/Sexualisation of Religions and Faiths. This is another reason why AUs such as Blessworld aren’t okay. In regards to that AU, the sexualisation and the horrendous acts done within the Catholic church is a highly sensitive topic that’s still debated over even in real life. So things such as ‘sexy’ nuns and priests and so forth are a strong insult to them. This is only one example though, and I’m not saying you can’t explore faiths and combine them with Eddsworld, but I HIGHLY recommend doing your research on the faith or religion and its history before creating for Eddtober.

Edd’s old IRL Friends. This is regarding Prompts 27 and 28 for the most part. Whilst Edd Gould did draw his pals into comics and Eddisodes, making them their own characters (quite clearly), many of them might not want to be associated with Eddsworld or Edd after his passing or after the legacy season. So out of respect for their wishes, please do not involve Edd’s actual old IRL friends in your creative pieces unless they say they’re okay with it. This will vary from person to person, so do not also take one answer from one person and apply that as an umbrella motive. If you get no response from the person regarding this if you ask them yourself, then take it as a NO and don’t involve them in the creative piece. This doesn’t mean that you cannot use the Eddsworld character based off of them (unless they straight-up say so). You’re perfectly able to, but to avoid future confusion, a person’s Eddsworld character IS NOT the same as the real-life person. For example, using Tom from Eddsworld in a piece is okay, but using Thomas ‘TomSka’ Ridgewell himself for the same Eddsworld piece isn’t. (Disclaimer: Said example may not be 100% accurate unless there’s further information about this. This is a fictional example, after all.)

The real guys’ last names/surnames. I really didn’t want to say this in here and it hasn’t happened in Eddtober yet, but when Legacy ended, one of Tom’s last says was that the fans shouldn’t use the IRL last names of Eddsworld crewmembers (specifically actors and animators) for the characters. It’s an effort to seperate the characters from the real-life people. This means when creating your pieces, you don’t use: -Edd Gould -Tom Ridgewell -Matt Hargreaves -Tord Larsson And so forth. You’re welcome to come up with your own last names for the characters, but please don’t use the old IRL ones. Unfortunately since this habit is starting to pop back up in bits of the fandom, I want to make it clear that isn’t cool or tolerated, and action will be taken if I see it happen in here.

Sinsworld. Believe it or not, the sinsworld tag was specifically made back in the day to keep the porn out of the main. But due to a certain in-fandom event, this intended action has been long-lost. Because of all of these events, any sinsworld (porn, lewds and related sexual NSFW) that’s Sinspired by the Eddtober prompts WILL NOT be accepted into the blog or any other official Eddtober accounts by any means. This is because many in this fandom are minors/underage and more who are 18+ are repulsed to porn and such (Admin Chris is part of the latter group). It is fine to be sexually inspired by the prompts and create stuff for them, but PLEASE don’t tag that Sinsworld content with Eddtober.

Abusive/Self-Harm Creative Content, Gorey or not. No. Just. No. I don’t wish to deny vent or darker creations. It is good to release your frustrations and express personal issues in what you create, but there are safe and appropriate ways to do so in the challenge. Death wishing, abuse, suicide/suicide idealisation, self-harm and/or similar are NOT allowed to be depicted in the challenge and should NEVER be romanticised or supported. Eddtober aims to be a safe and uplifting place for all creative people, no matter what their space is at the moment.

Shipping. On a similar note - whilst shipping is allowed, there are of course some things we don’t allow out of respect for everyone: -Shipping of the IRL people. -Sexual or abusive ship dynamics and tropes. -Ship-bashing or insulting ships. I’m sure there will be more to add to the list as I continue getting asks regarding this, but in the meantime, please don’t let yourself fall into creating for this.

Gore beyond Eddsworld’s levels. Gore has been a staple of Eddsworld since the early episodes, and it won’t be refused in the challenge. However, there are limits to how far this gore will go as of 2019, and it will be made clear here. -Guts This was allowed in Eddtober 2018, but as of now this is no longer the case. A lot of Eddheads expressed discomfort at the idea of guts hanging out of bodies as of the 2019 preparation survey, and I agree with them. This will also be extended to zombification/zombies. -Romanticised/‘Fashionable’ Gore. Absolutely not. Using the creative properties of gore to make someone look more ‘attractive’ in a sexualised manner is against the earlier boundaries. -Gore of Edd Gould, or his old IRL friends. This hasn’t happened, but it is good to make this clear in case some people are really naive about this: DO NOT DO THIS. That’s just straight-up offensive. -Gore of Prompts 27 to 30 (and potentially 31). Obviously. Since these last few prompts are about expressing your love and appreciation to the fandom, it doesn’t make sense on why you’d make something gutsy-gorey about some wholesome times. Especially in regards to Prompts Twenty-Seven and Twenty-Eight (Which was also just technically mentioned above, but the point has been made).

(In)Famous fan-projects. In the past year or so, certain fan projects have gathered a strong following - both for love and hate. Unfortunately, due to this hate being especially loud in 2019, action had to be taken for this. It’s not to say that you can’t express your opinions of a project, but there’s a safe way for all in doing so. For the others around you, and for yourself too. So if you’re going to create things that relate to either side of the argument you’re on, I will NOT allow straight-up insulting stuff to either side. Be it horrendous caricatures of the creators, vaguing about others through a story, plain old bashing or other means, I will NOT let it be shared around. More so, if this is kept up, I’ll most likely disregard your creations entirely since I don’t wish to endorse hurtful people. Especially through this event.

With all that said and done, let’s get to the ACTUAL prompts!

Quick reminder: when this list says ‘create something for’, it’s not just referring to fanart. It refers to any medium - digital, traditional or unconventional - that can be used. The challenge here is to be creative as possible, not to stay conventional.

The List features Admin Chris’s Commentary. Some useless, some useful.

Create something for Edd. (Not his real-life counterpart, but the character. That needed some clearing up based on 2017’s results.)

Create something for Tom.

Create something for Matt

Create something for any pre-legacy season episode, except WTFuture. (You can do WTFuture if you want, but seeing that much of this fandom is currently made of people who came in after The End… It’d be worth having a crack at other pre-legacy episodes.)

Create something for or with the crew’s symbols. (An example of symbols being a cola can for Edd, something blue for Tom, a mirror for Matt, etc.)

Create something for Superhero Alter Egos! (It doesn’t have to stop at PowerEdd’s canon either! Go nuts! Give Edd and his friends new superhero alibis and outfits!)

Create something for Supervillain Alter Egos! (Reminder that it doesn’t have to stop at the ‘Green/Blue/Purple/Red Leader scenario! Again, go nuts! Get wacky if you must!)

Create something for Minor characters of the show. (Except the Neighbours - they already have their own prompt.)

Create something for descendants of the main four guys. (Sure, you can make it about the love children of your favourite ships, but the point of this prompt specifically is to not be ship-related. See if you can come up with descendant characters from the bloodlines of the main four. If not, shipping is fine.)

Create something for Tord. (He’s late in this list for a reason. Trust me.)

Create something for the neighbours of 29 Dirdum Lane. Are Kim and Katya still there, or are there newbies in the street?

Create something for the neighbours of 25 Dirdum Lane.

Create something for unlucky things happening to the guys, or one of them. Feel free to go as dark or as humourous as you like!

Create something for genderbends of the guys, maybe as if the Ellsworld we know never existed. Or you can stick to canon, up to you.

This prompt is a wild card. Do with it as you wish. (In 2017 everyone was told to quote: ‘go whole hog on this’. The next thing we all knew, everybody literally drew pigs with the guys. That wasn’t supposed to be literally taken, but by god it was hilarious.)

Create something for your crew. Whether you’re the main character with your friends or have OCs taking that place or a mix of both is up to you.

Create something for an AU of Eddsworld. You can make one up on the spot, or even fan content for an AU that already exists is cool too. (As of rule number two of Eddtober, the Blessworld AU will not be accepted for this prompt. I know it is popular, but if you have any issues with this, please contact me in the blog asks myself.)

Create something for Eddsworld as a video game. Whether it’s concepts and covers for your own ideas or fanart for games in the making such as Eddsworld Armageddon, up to you. Heck, why not make a demo?

Create something for Todd, or whoever the ‘Tord’ figure is of 25 Dirdum Lane.

Create something for a Saloonatics-WTFuture Crossover. (What? Shenanigans could be made here, guys. Just take it!)

Create something for the future selves of the guys. Or if you want to take it up a notch, make your own versions of them! Have them all be hobos (#HoBrosforlife), or have cola not be banned in the future… up to you!

The End who? Create something for and/or elaborate on how you would finish off the Eddsworld Legacy season. (For the purposes of this prompt, I can accept an angsty end for this, but I personally do not recommend it.)

Create something for Zanta. (I guess you could call him a Nightmare Before Christmas, then.)

Create something for an Eddsworld movie. Whether it’s stuff for the Eddsworld Fan Movie or your own ideas, up to you!

Create something for the deal with Tom’s eyes. If you want to call them that.

Pick a song, any song, and put that on repeat. Use it as inspiration to create something in relation to Eddsworld.

Create something for Edd Gould himself. Not his character in Eddsworld, the real-life person.

An obligatory prompt without Eddtober in the beginning: create something for Edd’s birthday. (This was made into a prompt and will permanently remain as one as Edd’s birthday shouldn’t be taken away from today.)

Create something for someone/multiple someones in the fandom who inspire you - even the small artists and writers and such who are just starting out!

Create something for who or what got you into EW. What's your story? How did you get here? (Do you have 90 minutes?)

Create something for you being inserted into Eddsworld in any way. (Because here in Eddtober, cringe culture is dead and we don’t hesitate to self-insert.) Be it you hanging with the guys or going on an eddventure, the context and situation is up to you!

Okay seriously how the fuck is sinsworld homophobic or eddsweenie transphobic whateverthefuck, im so confused

so people see sinsworld as homophobic because, let’s face it, 99% of the tag is gay ships, and calling it sinsworld is pretty reminiscent of the wattpad/FF.net mentality of “omg im going to hell for shipping this xD/im sinning!!1!” implying that being gay is immoral and wrong (like what many extremist Christians tend to say)

Obviously, the tag name was probably not made with this belief in mind (I hope) and also I highly doubt the young children who say stuff like that know how disrespectful it can sound. But, you can get a gist on why people don’t like the tag as it can reflect that homophobic mentality to many (also many people, myself included, thinks the name sounds stupid. Come on, it’s not even a pun!!)

And as I stated before, I’m more acquainted with the aforementioned reason why sinsworld can be seen as homophobic. As for eddsweenie? Personally I don’t see it as transphobic since it sounds more like a shitpost and the characters (main 4 that is), canonically, are all cis. I’m assuming (correct me if I’m wrong) people see it as transphobic because it omits people who headcanon the characters as trans—well, specifically Edd. (But, honestly, I feel like both the in-show Edd and people’s headcanons can peacefully coincide under that name...?) I’m not trans so I wouldn’t know as well, but it doesn’t seem transphobic to me. (Again, correct me if I’m wrong.)

okay, I wouldn’t say it’s BLATANT. More like low-key. Either way, it really isn’t their fault since A. they can’t put that stuff in the main tag and B. it’s the tag everyone knows, so if they want people to find their art they kind of have to...But I do think we should come up with a better name tbh

Sinsworld ABO swap (fan-made follow up)

((Original ABO swap fic made by @plsnskanks (it wont let me tag you ;-; ) sorry if it seems rushed towards the end, im not used to writing stuff like this and so much ;w; )) ((Word count : 3000 exactly Tags : ABO, knotting, praise kink, ABO headcanons and such )) It had been 8 days since Tord had first started fixing the machine, it had taken a long time and some help but it was finally done... hopefully... Tord brought Edd and Tom down to the machine and set it up "ok, so I think I have everything fixed. It should be good to go now" he sighed "let get changed back already, I miss being the dominant one here" Tord looked at Edd as he spoke up "hey, I'm the most dominant one." "ok, second most dominant" Tord huffed and rolled his eyes as he replied, him and Edd had been fighting a little recently, well, less fighting and more just arguing because they both hated the feeling of being powerless. Tom however, loved being alpha. He got to be in control for once and he had managed to get some sweet revenge on Edd and Tord, showing them what it was like to be the bottom bitch of the group. He did stop if they asked though, and always made sure there was a safe word just in case he didn't remember he was stronger than before and got a little too rough. In all honesty though, Tom admitted it would be nice to be the omega again, he missed being treated by the alphas and being able to swoon them, not to mention he felt kinda weird in his new body type and his new position of power. It just felt a little off to be missing half of his biology still, not to mention it was still hard to control his alpha voice. Tord had set a few things up when Matt came downstairs, he looked like he had just woken up really, not in his normal hoodie and overcoat, just his 'I <3 M@' shirt and some baggy pants. "Hey Matt" Edd smiled as he looked over to Matt "what are you doing down here?" he asks, Matt stretched and yawned a little before he looked down to Edd "well, I woke up and it was really quiet and I have nothing to do today so I decided to come down here to see what you guys were doing." he explained softly, rubbing his eyes a little. Tord moved around the machine to check a few parts were in place securely before he looked to Matt "well I've gotten the machine working again and I'm just about to change us back... hopefully" he mumbled that last word. "Oh! I suppose I could watch, like I said, I'm not doing anything today and it'll be interesting to watch you all get turned back!" he smiled, obviously none of them had heard the 'hopefully' Tord had mumbled. In all honest, Tord didn't know if it would even work fullstop. Tord pressed a few more buttons on the machine then typed something into the machine before pressing one last button on the control panel. The lights went out in the whole house for a few seconds like the last time they used it... but something felt different. When the lights came back on, Tord and Edd were horrified to find it hadn't worked and they were still omegas. Tom was more surprised than horrified but he was also a little worried... Then they all saw Matt. Matt was laid on the floor where he was stood before, he looked smaller, more fragile, and his clothes were definitely baggy and loose on him, much more so than usual. He groaned as he sat up and rubbed his eyes "what happened?" he asked and he didn't sound too different but his voice was softer. Tord's eyes widened "oh no, nononono, the machine malfunctioned and these circuits are fried again!" he could see the circuit panel from on the floor and it looked completely broken, even sparking a little. There was a long silence before Tom spoke up "uhm, Tord, doesn't this mean that all of our bodily clocks are back to 0 again?" there was an even longer pause before Tord replied "Yes... And I think it amplified everything this time..." he said with a slight waver in his voice. "T-Tord, this is weird, what's happening?" Matt said as he sat up, looking at his hands, looking each of his slender fingers up and down. He felt wrong in a way, but at the same time not, this confused Matt and seemed to scare him a little. Tom looked at the three and bit his lip, his face coated in panic. "Alright, I dealt with two of you a short while go, I'm sure that I can take care of an extra one as well." he tried to reassure himself and the three omegas. He was currently trying to think about a quick plan as to what he was going to do with the three, and how Matt would react to having a heat much worse than he was used to. He was most concerned for Matt because although Edd and Tord had suffered from the side effects of being in heat, they had adjusted to it pretty quickly as Tom guided them. Matt however, despite already having a heat, didn't know what it was like for an omega, meaning that the shock of the intensity would be worse than for the two that were previously alphas. Tord let out a small huff and looked at the control panel "you alright Matt?" Edd asked, going over to Matt. Matt seemed to think for a moment before he nodded a little, looking up at Edd. "It feels strange..." he had a small whine in his voice as he answered. Tom came over too and Matt flinched a little bit, Tom feeling bad for Matt as he saw. Tom was used to Matt being a little jumpy at some things but never this jumpy. He sighed and gently pet Matt's hair "it's ok Matt, I'm sure Edd and Tord can help you a little bit with getting used to this, if it makes you feel any better I still feel strange being the alpha now" why Tom was feeling so sympathetic towards Matt now, he didn't think he'd ever know, he just left it at 'this must be how all alphas feel sometimes' in his head. Tord huffed as he turned away from the control panel "fried again, I'm thinking it will take around a week and a half to fix this time, even with some help." Matt seemed to panic a little, still being very confused, not to mention he felt very fragile and vulnerable. Tom felt a small twinge of annoyance at Tord's news but noticed Matt's hands shaking a little. He leaned down and tried his best to be gentle as he hugged the ginger omega, rubbing his back a little "take a few deep breaths Matt, i's gonna be alright. I'll help you with your heat like I helped Edd and Tord." Tom reassured. It took a few moments for Matt to process what had been said to him and he instinctively cuddled against Tom, feeling a little safer now, he didn't say anything and this seemed to worry Edd, who tried to comfort his freckled friend as best he could. Tom ended up in his room with the three omegas, one of which he had carried to his room. Matt was talking quietly now and listening to Edd and Tord as they tried to help him understand his current biology. Tom would chime in occasionally and add something to what they had said, making sure Matt understood everything he was being told. After a while Matt had been sufficiently educated on his biology and Tom was telling all three some of the side effects that came with having a heat cycle, and what to do to make it easier on them until Tom was able to help them. Once that educational session was completed Tom sighed and picked up Susan, sitting on his bed and letting the omegas talk as he played in the background, letting every note sink into his skin and be absorbed by every fibre of his body. It soothed him a little, he wanted to be calmer when he had to deal with the three omegas, making sure that he'd be able to think straight and not act out of blind panic. The three smaller males all seemed to enjoy the base, sighing a little bit as Matt loosened up a little the more Tom played. He seemed much more content and a lot less worried. The calm lasted about five hours, Tom eventually stopped playing his base and had felt tired enough for a quick nap, so he laid down and did exactly that, letting Edd, Matt and Tord cuddle up to him, yes, even Tord, he just felt smug about the fact it was Tord cuddling up to him now, and he could get him to do almost whatever he wanted. It honestly felt nice. It was around two hours after Tom fell asleep when he woke up to a similar scenario as a week or so ago, except with an extra addition. The three omegas were all stripped down to their underwear and were pressing themselves against Tom, trying to move his clothes out of the way to cuddle against his cool skin. Tom sat up and looked at the three omegas, Tord and Edd were red faced but Matt's was practically glowing at this point. He was panting heavily and trying his best not to fold up from the cramps. The alpha felt bad, knowing it must be hard for Matt, but he wanted to help them all. He went to take a deep breath but felt like there wasn't any air to breathe in the first place, just that heavy heat scent, except now there was a third scent. Unlike Edd or Tord's it was extremely strong, almost sickeningly sweet with a bitter hint to it if you could stand inhaling it for long enough. Quick Callout @ the EW Fandom

If someone like me, who has only recently even known about a show, can see how shit the fandom is, I think there’s a problem. More extensive ranting and specific gripes under the cut. (fair warning: it’s long)

Only within the last month have I gotten in to EW. I watched what I could find of the series from start to finish and loved every minute of it. So what else to you to after ingesting all available canon content of a show? You look up the creators and backstory/history of it of course. However I was woefully unprepared for the unbelievable amount of BS this fandom has been through/done.

Where do I even begin?

Well let me start where I noticed the assitry start chronologically, back when Tord left in 2008. He left because the fans wouldn’t leave him alone. And then with Edd’s untimely death in 2012, the poor guy couldn’t even post a video expressing his grief over the loss of a dear friend without the fans once again harassing him to no end. He won’t even use his real name online anymore because the fanbase is unruly and relentless. (More on Tord and why his character is a touchy subject later)

Oh that’s something to touch on. People need to understand these people are not their characters. That’s probably a huge reason Tom and Paul are so fed with the fandom right now. Just because a character was based off a real life person does not mean you should or even reasonably can consider them one and the same. So please stop tagging fan art with these peoples’ full names. It’s not them and a lot of them don’t want to be associated with it. I’ve seen a lot of the same shit from things like the Supernatural fandom where the fans will ship the irl actors together. Here’s a general easy to follow rule of thumb: DON’T SHIP REAL PEOPLE. EVER. It’s obnoxious and more than a little creepy. These actors are their own people outside of whatever shows/movies they act it. Please just leave them be. But on the other side of it, you can’t disregard the feelings of the irl people these characters are based on because “they’re just characters.” I’m fairly certain the majority of the cast of EW has expressed their disapproval of the amount of explicit shipping and generally distasteful fan art. And while I am not one to discredit the value of explicit/nsfw or ship art, if the creator of something says, “Hey could you not draw these characters being nasty?” then don’t. It’s really that simple. Or if you do, don’t posting it publicly for all the see. Especially not in a fandom where I’m pretty sure a large quantity of the fanbase consists of minors.

That’s another thing! The same shitty discourse happened in the UT fandom over nsfw artists refusing to keep their sin to the “undertail” tag, and not cluttering the main tag with porn. Undertale is a generally family friendly game with a decent plot and gameplay that got a shit rep because the fans were and still are utter shit. Is you feel that strongly about sharing your nsfw fan art of EW, even though you really shouldn’t be drawing it in the first place/be keeping it to yourself, please at least have the decency to actually use the Sinsworld/SW tag and NOT tag it with Eddsworld/EW. That’s what it’s there for. Seriously though, the creators have made it abundantly clear they do not appreciate this kind of fan art or attention, so like just stop? It’s honestly appalling the level of disrespect the fans give these guys. It’s really no wonder they’ve all started shunning the fans.

Also that! If y’all can’t see the problem of when the creators start shunning their fanbase because of the blatant, obnoxious disrespect for them as people and as the providers of this content they oh so enjoy, then there is a huge issue. Did the fandom even take two seconds to stop to consider why practically everyone but Matt (bless his pure heart) has all but abandoned this project? Does anyone see the issue there? Matt is the only one who is still trying to give this mess of a fandom a chance, and most of you from what I can see, aren’t giving him much to be hopeful for. Poor Matt just wants to keep his dear friend’s legacy alive and healthy, and y’all are raking it through hell and back with the amount of shit you put these guys through.

Speaking of which, remember when I said more on Tord later? Well that later is now. Incoming mini rant As a quick disclaimer: I love The End as an eddisode (or 2 w/e). As a plot/story/world building thing it was great. I however do not like that this is how they chose to reintroduce Tord’s character. Tord left because of the fans obsessing over him and giving him way too much attention. Knowing this, I cannot comprehend why on earth did they do this with his character? It was clear that they’d been leading up to something like this for a while with mentions of Red Leader and other allusions to his return such as his silhouette on TV in Dead Fun and his insignia visible in a few scenes. But I still can’t understand why they did this? Tom and Matt, both of which knew Tord and the reasons he left, but bring his character back under such a bright spotlight seems like the opposite of anything he would have wanted. I will admit I do not know the details of how The End actually cam to be, but if these guys had even the slightest clue of what the fans are like which I’m sure they do now, they could easily have seen the kind of attention this was going to attract. Hell they should have known something as big as The End would call attention to the fandom as a whole, not just one this one character contained to within the fandom. I honestly feel bad for irl Tord. He’ll never be able to come out of hiding online now, not after this. I almost feel guilty for enjoy his character in The End as much as I do because I know he’d hate being such a huge focus. It’s upsetting to see how the character with the least screen time and overall relevancy because his irl counterpart intentionally left the shows production because of too much unwanted attention has become the overwhelming undeniable fan favorite. Unfortunately I have to admit both the creators and the fans are at fault on this one, but it still sucks.

The whole fandom blows right now. At least it feels like it with the majority of the active fandom acting so shitty. I don’t blame the genuine fans who don’t openly express their interest because they don’t want to be associated with this mess. Did the fans forget the reason Eddsworld even exists? Why is was made in the first place? Edd Gould, rest in peace you angel of a man, made Eddsworld for because he loved doing it. And god bless Tom and Matt and everyone else for continuing his work for as long as they after his passing.

I’ve barely had any exposure to this fandom, and I’m already fed up with it. I genuinely love this show and wish I didn’t feel so guilty about doing so. I mean, I’m sure many establish/longtime fans of the series would be all all to willing to disregard me as just another part of the growing cesspool in this fandom simply because I got into it after The End and my favorite character is Tord. I didn’t watch EW for The End and Tord was high on my list of faves from the first episodes I saw him in form the show back in 2005-06, even with having no prior knowledge of the show or the later plot points.

But I digress, this is not a post about defending myself. This is a wake-up call-out to a fandom that’s in down right sorry shape and desperately needs to pull its head out of its ass.

Alright, don’t mind the crappy drawing. So this morning I saw posts on here and Instagram talking about Patryk leaving the fandom. First Tord, then Tom and now Patryk? The main reasons of why they left are:

Hate

Ships

Fanart/fanfictions/etc, tags and credit

Privacy

-So let me start off by the first thing. Hate.

For example Tord got hate because he left Eddsworld to go his own way like dude, it’s his life so he chooses what to do. You can’t hate on him for a decision. Another hate? Hate for the ships. Now, we all have ships we love, like, dislike and hate. But hear me out, if you hate a ship don’t harass who ships something you hate. I’ll be honest, I have a few ships I myself either dislike or hate, but I don’t go around or to the fans of the ship saying “Ew omg you ship that? Kys that’s the worst ship ever.” because that’s disrespectful and dumb. I just ignore the ship or if someone asks me what do I think of that ship I use a kind and polite language. And boy if I’ve seen people hating eachother for such stupid reasons. Is it that hard to ignore something you dislike?

-Ships.

Alright, I’m kinda guilty here since I do ship some of the characters but the fictional ones only. As long as you ship fictional character, don’t call them their creator’s name and respect people’s opinion on it, it’s all chill. It gets not so chill if you ship in real life people (I myself used to get shipped with a guy in middle school and that was so fucked up and made us so uncomfortable that we don’t talk anymore.), call them their creator’s name despite the creator asking not to and harass whoever dislikes your favourite ship. Also please, if you draw a ship make sure it’s about the fictional characters and please. Don’t mention/name/tag or such the creator. Also stop the ship wars. For example, let’s take these two ships: TomTord and TordEdd. I’ll be honest, TomTord is my otp while TordEdd may be cute but I don’t ship it. That’s my opinion and I politely stated that I don’t like TordEdd and didn’t say stuff such as “Tbh TordEdd fucking sucks like whoever likes it should die.” which would just cause drama. Be polite when giving an opinion.

-Fanart/fanfictions/etc, tags and credit

This is one of the reasons that TomSka left the fandom. Alright, let’s say you drew and wrote some nsfw stuff about a ship, at a certain point some people do that and I guess it’s normal, it happens in probably every fandom. Let’s say you wanna post it. Hold on right there though, you can’t just post it like this. Now, I dunno if it’s avaiable here but on Instagram there is a feature where you can make your account private and if you wanna follow it, your follow request has to get accepted by the owner of the account. In case this feature is avaiable, use it. In case it isn’t, use the right tags. Don’t tag nsfw or ships with the characters names (ex: # ew ‘some Eddsworld character name’ or even worse, # ew ‘creator’s name or # ‘creator’s name’), there usually is a tag for nsfw (# sinsworld for eddsworld nsfw) and if you gotta tag a sfw (safe for work aka no porn/gore unlike nsfw) ship, either use the ship’s name (which is most of the time a mix of the two shipped fic characters) or “# ‘character’ x ‘character’ “, but if it’s a nsfw ship use the nsfw tag and NOT the characters or ship name or characterxcharacter thing because let’s say someone ships MattEdd but just the fluff part and someone draws MattEdd nsfw and as tags put ‘# mattedd , # matt x edd’ and such, the person who ships it just as a cute and not sinful thing would be shocked. Even worse, what if some 12 or younger years old kid becomes and Eddsworld fan and when they find the Eddsworld tag and excitedly go to it but then they find their two favourite characters fucking eachother? Wouldn’t that be fucked up? I know, kids shouldn’t be on the web but think about it. So use the tags in the right way. Also let’s say you see a nice fanart on some social network and you repost it. But stop right there, you first gotta see who drew it and credit them when you post it. I don’t care if the artist is someone you hate, I don’t care if the artist is a relative, close friend, boy/girlfriend. You still gotta credit them. I even credit myself when reposting my own art on my Instagram page. Also, small advice here. If you are an artist, sign your art as it won’t get stolen. I’ve seen a lot of times people reposting art without crediting or either stealing it, claiming that themselves drew that, use without permission or recolor it. Same goes to when you make video edits, credit the artist in case there is an animation or drawing and if you wanna repost a drawing or edit or animation, remember to credit it. But there are some artists that want people to ask for permission first.

And last but not least. Privacy.

Main reason of why Tord, Tom and Patryk left.

Dude, dude. Tord even deleted his own YouTube channel and is hiding himself because when he left, people harassed him and there are some people out there that use his name in Eddsworld related things despite him asking not to.

How disrespectful is that? A lot. Tom left because people kept tagging him in TomTord stuff despite him stating that he doesn’t like TomTord. Just an opinion and a warning that reiceved hate. Some people even shipped him with in real life Tord. Thomas “TomSka” Ridgewell and Tord Larsson AREN’T the same as Tom and Tord from Eddsworld. Humans aren’t the same as cartoon characters. Real people aren’t the same as fictional characters. Get this straight. Of course, that rule doesn’t apply for them only but for everyone from Eddsworld and anyone outside of it.

Patryk just wanted to give money to charity but ended up getting shipped with a man. And he is married. You do know stuff like this could ruin someone’s reputation and life, right? Also, I know this isn’t privacy related but please, don’t mention Edd’s death or say rip. I know you’re trying to be nice by saying rip but please stop. He is in a better place sipping cola now.

So in the end don’t:

Spread hate.

Hate someone if they kindly state something different from you.

Use real names.

Repost art without credit or permission or even worse, stealing it.

But instead:

Spread love and support.

Be kind if you wanna give your opinion and avoid and ignore the hate. Silence can be effective sometime.

Use fake names.

Always give credit and ask for permission when reposting a drawing, edit, animation or such.

But that being said, this was just a rant along with some advices to make or at least to try to make the Eddsworld fandom a better place. Have a lovely day. <3

Eddtober Masterpost: About, Rules, Boundries and Prompt Lists.

I hadn’t done anything about it until now due to no response - however the wonderful @ldhenzel suggested that I do it this way for mobile users.

About Eddtober

Eddtober is a list of prompts made in an effort to encourage the Eddsworld Fandom to spread their wings of creativity beyond the norms that they are used to, during the month of October.

It is all without harming others or causing drama, a neutral ground for all fans of Eddsworld to come and have fun, no matter what side of a discourse they’re in.

It hopes to promote inspiration beyond the usual angsty and over-dramatised content, to revive a spirit in Eddsworld that hasn’t been seen in many years, and to stretch the invitation to all who can create.

Eddtober calls not only the artists who have a talent for drawing, painting and so forth, but also: the authors (fanfics, journalists, essayists, diarists, poets, ramblers), the cosplayers, the video-makers (animators, video essays, memers, youtubers) and all those who want to be inspired with unconventional creativity.

Eddtober’s motto for the fandom it came from is this: To come forth, be inspired and break from the old and the mold!

With that out the way, buckle up. This post is gonna be a long one under the cut.

RULES

Base Rules need to be set so everyone can participate in Eddtober safely and in a fun way. Please read them carefully!

Always tag it with #eddtober. Gore and related NSFW is allowed in the challenge, but please tag it as #Eddtober gore, etc. Also, no shortenings or reimaginings of those tags, so the minors on this site don’t find it on accident. Though many of us may be over 18, please keep these things in mind.

Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others. I know many of us here in this fandom can take easy offence to certain types of art, so please consider and think on your creative piece before you post.

Credit Where Due. This should be blatantly obvious right now, but please, please don’t steal other��s creative fanwork or post it without credit. Always have permission from the creator to post something of their’s, and always have their username when you post it, not just ‘credit to the artist’. If you do not follow this, actions will be taken for your consequences.

Keep yourself chill. You can do one prompt for Eddtober, some of the prompts or all of them - up to you! It’s understandable if life gets in the way. The goal of Eddtober is not to do every prompt, but to be inspired to create fan-content in a way you usually wouldn’t have.

Spread the word. This is less of a rule and more of a personal request from Admin Panda, but since she doesn’t have many social media accounts you’d expect, spreading word of Eddtober would mean a LOT, so they can join in the fun too!

Sharing is caring. Reblogging and sharing from your fellow creators doing Eddtober would be great to give them a motivation and confidence boost!

Go Beyond the Boundries of Your Imagination. The whole purpose of Eddtober is to promote new, fresh things to come up in the Eddsworld fandom and break a cycle of the same old that’s been there for a while. Take a leap, spread your wings, do your best, and go have fun.

BOUNDRIES

Most of this list will be related to Rule Two of Eddtober:

Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others.

Quote:

Whilst Eddtober is a fun, neutral place to spread our creative wings, there are boundries that need to be taken in order to keep everyone safe. Which means certain parts that are usually seen as ‘common’ within the Eddsworld Fandom will not be acceptable in the challenge.

Edd Gould’s death. Admin Panda wishes to make it clear that creative pieces that draws clear lines to Edd’s passing IS NOT okay. This includes Edd in hospital for cancer, Angel Edd or any AU that depicts him as a divine being of any sort (including Blessworld) unless Tom, Matt and/or Tord are also similar divine beings in the AU. Here at Eddtober, Edd's life is something to be celebrated, not his death. While Admin Panda isn’t 100% offended by this, many others are and it should be more recognised as such.

Sinsworld. Believe it or not, the sinsworld tag was specifically made back in the day to keep the porn out of the main. But due to a certain in-fandom event, this intended action has been long-lost. Because of all of these events, any sinsworld (porn, lewds and related NSFW) that’s Sinspired by the Eddtober prompts WILL NOT be accepted into the event by any means. This is because many in this fandom are minors/underage and more who are 18+ are repulsed to porn and such (Admin Panda is part of the latter group). So please, it is fine to be sexually inspired by the prompts, PLEASE keep your Sinsworld content away from the Eddtober tag - don’t put both tags into that post, essentially.

Abusive/Self-Harm Creative Content. No. Just. No. Death or pain like this isn’t allowed to be depicted in the challenge and should never be romanticised or supported. Eddtober aims to be a safe and uplifting space for all creative people, no matter what their space is at the moment.

More sensitivities and boundries will be added onto this list as Admin Panda recieves questions and requests for this area through the askbox here.

Quick reminder: when this list says ‘create something for’, it’s not just referring to fanart - it refers to any medium, digital, traditional or unconventional, that can be used. The challenge here is to be creative as possible, not to stay conventional.

The End who? Create and elaborate on how you would finish off the Eddsworld Legacy season. (For the purposes of this prompt, I can accept an angsty end for this, but I personally do not recommend it. The Eddsworld fandom has had enough unnecessary angst already.)

Create something for Zanta. (I guess you could call him a Nightmare Before Christmas, then.)

Create something for an Eddsworld movie. Whether it’s stuff for the Eddsworld Fan Movie or your own ideas, up to you!

Create something for the deal with Tom’s eyes. If you want to call them that.

Pick a song, any song, and put that on repeat. Use it as inspiration to create something in relation to Eddsworld.

Create something for someone/multiple someones in the fandom who inspire you - even the small artists and writers and such who are just starting out!

Are you afraid of the dark? Are you getting goosebumps? Create scary/monstrous/terrifying things happening to the guys. Interpretation and how far you go with it is up to you.
