Operation: REDLINE, a Lancer Campaign

The group I play Lancer with recently finished Dustgrave, and we've decided to swap around who's GMing. I'm up now, so I'm dusting off my worldbuilding skills and making a custom campaign for my group to play.

Last time I made a custom campaign for a TTRPG was one for D&D 5e, like, 8 years ago. I was running it in person, but never finished it. (Side note, I do still wanna go back to it some day.) What I'm saying is that I'm gonna be pretty rusty.

Anyway, I'm gonna go over the details (I've worked out so far) below the cut. If my players somehow find this, beware of spoilers.

<BROADCAST BEGINS>

LOC: "Good morning, racing fans. Welcome to LOC & LOU, your number one source for mech racing. Today we've got something very special for you."

LOU: "Very special is an understatement! This is nothing less than the greatest spectacle you’ve ever seen! I’m talking of course about The Grand Carina Race."

LOC: "While mech races are by no means unusual, this one is special for two reasons. First, instead of being a sprint, it is a marathon across multiple systems throughout the Carina nebula, requiring multiple near-light jumps."

LOU: "That's right! It will be a test not only of speed, but of endurance and teamwork as well. Teams of 2-6 Lancers will accompany an experienced ship pilot on a journey to a far off system and back, encountering all manner of threats and challenges!"

LOC: "The second reason this race is so special is the hosts. The race was created by the elusive and mysterious Voladores of the trade ship Sientelo. They have promised that the winners will have access to all manner of unknown and unique treasures. While there’d be good reason to doubt this claim from anyone else, the Voladores have more than earned their reputation as merchants of the rare and powerful."

LOU: "Slots for racing teams have rapidly filled up, but there is still one open: the hotly contested Wildcard slot! Does your team have what it takes to win the race? Will you even be able to make it in? Gather your team, find a ship, and enter today!"

Operation: REDLINE (working title) is a two-mission campaign for Lancer. Players (beginning at LL2) will be part of a team hired to be the crew on a ship competing in the biggest race in this arm of the galaxy. They will be riding aboard a a ship with a near-light drive trying to beat several other teams and their ships. As all the ships max out at 0.995 c, the actions the team takes during encounters and narrative scenes will be important to winning the race!

Main inspirations for tone and content are the movie Redline (which the title references) and real life distance races like the Cannonball Run and the Dakar Rally. I will make another post in the future with the session breakdown, as I have it worked out so far.

Curiosa forma de presentarse el 23, ya me es conocido que los años impares no son amables con mi persona, pero Este año fue curiosamente intenso, fisicamente, emocionalmente y espiritualmente.

Los tres elementos que componen a un ser humano en un concepto simple, como es posible que se les ponga aprueba durante un ¿periodo de supervivnecia?

Perder una amigo, sentir como se escapa tu amor, sentirse rechazado, juzgado, etiquetado, aun recibiendo, un Hola, Buenos dia, puedes contar conmigo, todo vas estar bien; aun asi te sientes solo que no tienes valor suficiente para nadie que rapidamente desapareces entre otros muchos nombres de contactos de whatsapp, lista de contacto de alguna persona del mundo que alguna vez fue muy proxima a ti, el viejo numero de un familiar, un viejo contacto con el que reiste una vez, ahora ese nombre cae en el olvido de las personas que dijieron que podias contar con ellos, que te querian, que eras un buen amigo... Ahora simplemente ya no eres parte de la vida de ellos.

Que se supone que debemos hacer nosotros los olvidados? por que aun estamos vivos, aun tenenos una vida, aun asi sea invisible e impercepsible para el resto de la humanidad e incluso de tu propia sangre; seguir pretendiendo que existimos por nosotros mismos, es nuestra unica opcion. es lo que nos queda, que solo necesitamos estar con nosotros mismos para poder ser felices o al menos no morir de pena, que gracia.

Como es juzgada tu espiritualidad? en fondo de tu ser conoces la verdad? realmente crees que esta ahi? hay alguien ahi? y todo esto mezclado con tus emociones , expuestas como carne roja, viva y sangrante... sentir cada palabra, mirada, recuerdo, sentir cada vinculo formado con cada persona que realmente conforman tu vida; son parte de tu vida, entonces veras que clamas por ayuda y te pediran tener FE en tu vida; sea por lo que estes pasando en ese momento; familia, trabajo, dinero, decisiones, realciones, estudios; lo que sea que te este causando dolor; porque si a ti te duele , es porque es importante; entonces te pediran tener FE y He ahi tu prueba a tu espiritualidad, tan simple

Las personas que son parte de tu vida son los unicos que realmente le dan algun color, alguna forma, incluso sabor a tu vida. Ser parte de la vida de otra persona es un papel tan importante, por el valor que tu tienes como persona; nunca lo percibí de esa manera hasta ahora.; que senti perder personas que queria mucho, irse de mi vida de unas maneras tan especiales, pero es un irse al fin ya al cabo; Que la vida de una persona se apague , que es un luto natural, a diferencia de una irse con rechazo, indiferencia o simple cansancio, que es un luto sangrante, con cicatriz de lenta curacion, que sangrara una y otra vez; estos lutos tienen sabores tan diferentes, tan fuertes que sientes que te pueden llevar tambien; asi que, querida persona; aguanta, aguanta, siente ese dolor no lo evites sientelo, llora, abraza y ten paciencia, tendras que tener paciencia todos los dias hasta que desaparezca ese sentimiento; no esperes, ni supongas que me siente o nos sentemos, aplauda y continue con un OK, sigamos... Pues no?; estas emeciones te dañan, te incapacitan de alguna manera. sean gentiles.

Ya vamos acabando este año, estamos proximos a estas fechas de union y familia, tan coloridas y hogareñas, Tu querida persona, si te sientes solo te entiendo, asi que tal vez no te concozco o talvez si, pero dejame decirte que te mando un abrazo con cariño de verdad, de esos que te dan las personas que quieren a otra, con unas dulces palabras de: Va pasar; vas a estar bien, ten paciencia, tus emociones son tan grandes que pocos ven que les ofreces tanto, que eres todo un mundo y me tendras que contar me tu historia un dia, en un parque al medio dia o en un parque o en una tarde gris a la orilla del Mar de miraflores; no sientas que soledad te visitara otra vez y solo se quedara ahi; saludala y habla con ella como tu vieja conocida, pues es nuestra amiga fiel, nos acompaño en cada momento en que sentiste no habia nadie mas para ti.

Personalmente no celebro navidad; lo hago por mero formalismo; pero para todos ustedes que leyeron esto; Feliz Navidad; les doy las gracias por tomarse ese tiempo y leer esto y un fuerte abrazo sincero con cariño de verdad y si me conoces en persona, sabes que me complico para esas cosas, pero esta vez te doy un abrazo; disfruten de estas fiestas con las personas que son parte de sus vida abrazenlas, digan lo importante son para ustedes; que para eso son estas fechas asi que adelante.
