EA Kelp as Edible Raw Meat for Vampires (Nona Dried Food Mod REQUIRED)

If you use the Nraas Hybrid mod to make mermaid-vampire sims, it's a headache getting them to eat a effing thing that's not plasma-based. So I took EA's Kelp mesh and slapped Nona's script on it, to make it "raw food" that can fill a vampire's Thirst need. (I HIGHLY recommend also using Nona's other raw foods--there's a nice juicy fish vamps can eat, which I used in my IWTV post here.)

Severinka Hippocampus as IP EP Jetski (IP EP REQUIRED)

(The harness mesh was shamelessly ripped/reshaped from Mermaidia's Seahorse Taxi. I didn't place the handles as well as I probably should have, but oh frikkin well.) I was too lazy to make this fully recolorable (you can kinda sorta recolor it, since I put the textures in the Multiplier not the Overlay)--but it does come in 4 color variations:

TheVintageSim Fringe Hammock REDONE (Functional Loveseat)

I've been wanting this decor hammock as a functional loveseat for frikkin ever. This gameplay gave me the perfect excuse to bite the bullet and make it. The mesh is rescaled to fit EA loveseats. Fully recolorable, comes in multiple variations, like the original.

Pocci's Jellyfish

I was so jealous that Pocci remade their TS3 Jellyfish ceiling lights for TS4 without the obnoxious strings dangling from the ceiling, so I went and made their Jellyfish 01 & 02 stringless myself. Then I made the Jellyfish as a Teddy Bear. The clipping & joints aren't great, but it works and I'm tired.

Venus Girdle Inspired Table Light

It's amazing, the kind of IRL deep-sea critters you learn about, just by reading mermaid fanfiction.

Wall Mosaics 1x5

They come in a bunch of variations. Two are based on IRL portions of the Madaba Map, for no good reason, other than I just needed a medievalesque mosaic map #ForReasons.

Ivy as Ceiling Light

I made sure there were no backfaces on the ivy mesh, so you could still see inside the lot from a bird's eye view. (I used these with the TW3 Bulb Lights I converted here.)

Simszoo Tree REDONE (RECOLORABLE as Outdoor Light)

I made this tree recolorable and an outfoor light--I wish I knew how to make only the leaves glowe, not the whole frikkin trunk. Ah well.

Pocci Sakura Vase REDONE (Translucent)

All I did was change the texture of the flowers so they were crystal/see-through.

TS2 Conversion(s) of the ‘Store Shelf’ from Animal Crossing New Horizon

This object comes in two versions:

The first (left) is filled with foodstuff and functions as a grocery display. It can be found under Appliances/Large and costs 470$. It is available on both Residential and Community lots, but will not be interactible at home unless your sims own a business. It should have proper visuals for its empty state, but I’ve not extensively tested it.

The second is an empty version of the display functioning as a pseudo-shelf. It was cloned from Balkopat’s ‘Great Groceries Freezer Cabinet‘, meaning it has the same kind of slots: 18 deco slots, 6 counter slots, and 3 ground slots. These are here previewed by the vases, the cakes and the fish. It can be found under Surfaces/Shelving for 400$. It is texture-repositoried to the other object.

The orignal model and textures were extracted from New Horizon by the reddit user Nimaid.

(The year twenty-twenty-three is nearly upon us, and I still suck at taking preview pics :p )

For extra mayhem and the introduction of a little randomness to gameplay, nothing like an ROS!

Here is the one I've been using for my game, heavily inspired by a lot of great ROS out there, but tweaked to suit my game. In case it can be helpful for anyone, here it is! It's a d12+d6 roll:

I recently discovered your medieval hood/blog and am fascinated. Your post about sending the Pullets to the smithy made me wonder though: How does your economy work? Is it a self-sufficient hood? I'm particularly curious about how you handle food. Do your farmers produce enough for everyone in town and if yes, how do you get the food to all the non-farming families? Do you have some kind of market place/farmer's market?

Hi Nonny! Thanks for liking my little ‘hood and I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible (no promises). I totally failed at keeping this brief, btw. 

In short, yes, I aim to make the game as self-sufficient as I can. If something, anything can be produced by a Sim as opposed to being bought in the Build/Buy catalog, then I will assign a Sim to produce those goods and have other households buy from them. My woodcutters produce fuel for the fires. My smith sells all of the metal tools needed to run other jobs and household goods from his smithy. My weaver makes display baskets for vendors to use in their businesses, etc. Basically, my entire game economy revolves around the Crafting Stations from Sun and Moon at PBK 

I base the starting points and the milestones for each phase of the hood by referring to the Medieval Charter Challenge. There are guidelines for each class and a breakdown of monetary stuff like taxes and rents. I break lots of rules, but I find that it provides me with a great and simple foundation to build upon.

So for food, specifically, when I first create and move in a family, I allow them to use the food that the fridge comes with. I sometimes give them a small garden, sometimes not. For the most part, my families didn’t even go through all of the contents of the initial fridge in the first rotation. The only family to do so was the Pullets, and that’s cause there’s so many of them >.

In the case of my Weaver, or other more specialized trades, I have her create special orders based on what I know is an upcoming need in the rotation. Last rotation she made over 50 market baskets for the Gardner and the Groen families (market gardener and merchant). Next rotation I see a need for more baskets, but also some furniture items like pet beds and cribs, so I will have her work on those. 

When my Sims do run out of food, I have them restock with whatever is in their inventory. But when that inevitably runs out, they will now have a Market to visit to buy their goods. Since we have some Merchants now, and one of them owns the Little Market, most of the people who were selling their goods from home will now sell to him at a 40% markup instead. He will then use all of those goods to stock the Market, and thus, the self-sufficiency cycle continues :) The Market will also sell food for livestock, which I will be starting to grow this rotation for sale and use in the NEXT rotation when I add some more food-production roles such as a Herdsman or Pig/Goat Farmer. 

Some roles I have had a hard time working out the details for. When I made my blacksmith, who seemed like a natural fixture in any growing village, there wasn’t a Crafting Station that I could fall back on. So after much angst and gnashing of teeth and LOTS of advice from people on several forums, I came up with a happy compromise. For now, he actually produces very few usable goods, BUT he is the sole provider of tools like fireplace grates, pokers, cookpots, axes, scythes, dung rakes…you get my point. Anything that’s metal and makes sense, which is a surprising amount of stuff! He is also the resident handyman, due to his high Mechanical skill, so when things break at another household, he is summoned over to repair whatever it is and is sent a fee. So now, my Sims that need those things go to him to get it. Oh, he also makes the horseshoes that the residents of Dallùbach hang above their doors for luck :)

Singapore officially submitted its hawker culture nomination to Unesco with celebratory photos and videos – but Malaysians aren’t too happy about it, Defence Online

These days, Windows is as viable a platform for couch multiplayer as a console, and to celebrate, we’ve amassed 10 of the best local multiplayer games for your PC, just in time for TechRadar’s PC Gaming Week 2018.

Crawl

Rather than blurring the line between competitive and co-op multiplayer, Crawl abuses it, violently throwing you into fleeting alliances in a game where there can only be one winner.

It’s a dungeon crawler, in essence, but one in which one player is the ‘hero’, while the other 1-3 players are ghosts who summon demonic creatures and possess traps in a bid to stop you. 

Whoever lands the killing blow then becomes the hero, and this cycle continues as the hero progresses through randomly generated dungeons with the aim of defeating the final boss (also controlled by the other players). 

The hero levels up, but so do other players’ monsters, making each 15-minute-or-so game feel like an deliciously dark dance of death that quickly escalates in intensity.

Overcooked 

From Crawl’s depraved subterrane, you can cleanse your palette with this clean and cheery kitchen sim. One to four players control cooks in a kitchen, delegating responsibilities as they try to cook and serve increasingly complex orders to the contiguous restaurant. 

It’s quintessential co-op, though as the pace and stress ratchets up, you begin to understand how Gordon Ramsey came to rely on such a profanity-filled vocabulary to get things functioning in the kitchen.

The beauty of Overcooked is that it leaves all organisation to the players; who’s frying the steaks? Who’s chopping the veg? Why is the onion soup on fire?!? Who the HELL is doing the washing up because we’ve run out of plates to serve food on? 

Kitchens in later levels shift and change too, which can quickly disintegrate your clockwork-like kitchen into a hilarious omnishambles of rolling foodstuffs, dirty dishes and spreading fires.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Couch multiplayer is synonymous with fast-paced, intense sessions that leave you spent and satisfied in a matter of hours. But if you and a friend can handle tens of hours in each other’s company, and want to embark on one of the richest RPG adventures in recent memory, then this is your chance.

Recalling the RPGs of the ’90s like Baldur’s Gate, Divinity 2 is a top-down RPG with a deep turn-based combat system. It feels limitless in all areas – from character creation, to dialogue options, to experimenting with spell combos to lethal effect. 

Get to grips with its complexity, and Original Sin 2 unveils itself as a masterful RPG, allowing you to shape your character just how you want them, and meaningfully shape the game world around you.

Navigating this arcane world is best enjoyed alongside a good friend. Its co-op system is thoughtfully designed, switching between same-screen and split-screen depending on where you and your partner are in the world, and letting you continue your adventure online.

Towerfall: Ascension 

An old-timer as indies go, Towerfall: Ascension remains one of the most gripping, mechanically precise combat arenas around. 

Set across a number of pixel-pretty single-screen levels (which crucially wrap around the sides, top and bottom), you and your friends take each other on in one-shot-kill bow-and-arrow combat. 

A panoply of powerups – from wings to an edible that turns everything slow-motion – inject some chaos into the mix, but matches always feel like precise affairs, in part thanks to the limited number of shots in your quiver, and the fact that opponents can nab your wayward arrows. 

Even though it’s accessible, there is still a level of mastery to Towerfall, such as the dodge move that lets you catch arrows, or learning to use the wrap-around screen to fire an arrow off the left side of the screen to kill an enemy on the right.

The instant replays after each round are an inspired addition too, because nothing stirs up competition like the round winner gloating and forcing you to rewatch their moment of victory in slow motion.

Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed 

Any mention of couch multiplayer is almost certain to conjure wistful memories of playing Mario Kart 64 or Diddy Kong Racing using a trident controller, or perhaps Crash Team Racing for those on the Sony side of the fence in the ’90s.

The PC, scattered platform that it is, never had its own IPs or mascots to turn into kart racers, but it’s benefited from Sega’s cross-platform diaspora with this overlooked gem. Beyond Sonic and pals, the Sega character roster may not be as recognisable as Nintendo’s (‘Football Manager’ from Football Manager, anyone?), but that matters little when the game itself is so vibrant and accessible.

Sonic & All-Star Racing is fun and forgiving, with tight controls and well-designed tracks that seamlessly transition between land, sea and air segments. PC gamers aren’t exactly spoiled for choice with kart racers, so it’s just as well that this is one of the best around.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

More and more games are crossing over into the kind of part-digital/part-reality hybrid experiences that could provide a whole evening’s entertainment in and of themselves. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is among the best of this bunch.

The premise is simple: There is a bomb with a timer. One person, fiddling with the bomb on the computer screen, must defuse it, while the others – with no sight of the screen – use an instruction manual to tell the defuser which buttons to press and which wires to pull. 

It’s basically the ‘red wire or blue wire’ scene from Lethal Weapon, but with more options, more people, and less Mel Gibson, all of which are probably a good thing.

Screencheat

Peaking at your rivals’ screens in a split-screen shooter (scientific term: Screencheating) is one of the oldest tricks in the foul-playbook. Screencheat embraces this by making each player invisible, with their positions on the level only deducible by looking at their enemies’ screens, or waiting for someone to fire their gun to track the source of the shot.

Each arena is cleverly color-coded, so you can rely on peripheral vision to see when an enemy’s in the blue section, for instance, or at a juncture between red and green, to try and anticipate their position.

Playing Screencheat, you’ll learn that there are few kills as satisfying as one-shotting an invisible enemy based on your triangulations, though lobbing a grenade into where you think there might be an invisible crowd also has its appeal.

Broforce

Draped in comical American patriotism and starring the great Hollywood action icons of the 80s and 90s, this 2D blaster gets so excessively explosive that entire levels crumble beneath your feet, as the entire screen becomes obscured by a cocktail of body chunklets and fire.

One of the more ingenious touches in Broforce (aside from skirting around copyright by giving each action icon a ‘Bro’ variant of their name – The Brominator, Rambro, Ellen Ripbro etc.) is that you’re assigned a random character each time, constantly tickling your group’s nostalgia senses and switching up the action; one moment you’re whipping enemies to their doom as Indiana Brones, the next you’re swinging your sword and making guttural Arnie grunts as Bronan the Barbarian. 

The difficulty ratchets up quickly, but simple controls and sheer character of Broforce will keep you and your friends at it until your thumb joints start chafing.

Party Panic

Many local multiplayer games require you to at least partly take on the role of teacher to your newbie friends, which inevitably injects tedium into your session as you scramble to answer the barrage of questions being hurled at you.

Party Panic negates this problem with its instant clarity. The only controls are ‘Run’ and ‘Jump’, which are the foundation for countless mini-games where the visual language is wonderfully self-explanatory. 

In one game, you’re running towards the screen to avoid the maw of a massive whale, in another you’re shooting ghosties or rolling around in a zorb trying to knock your rivals into lava. 

It’s the kind of giddy, frantic simplicity that harks back to those old Track-and-Field games where you’d furiously press one button to win the race (but with less finger-ache), or to Nintendo’s much-loved Mario Party series. See? PC can do party games too!

I realized last night that I want to live my life on more of a strict schedule. Not as strict as my grandfather’s (which my Mom has occasionally suggested to me because she suspects that he has ADHD, but I actually suspect that he’s autistic which would fit his absurdly strict schedule better), but like, as strict as the schedule I had as an elementary schooler. Since, you know, I’ve been trying a lot lately to try and go back to those days mentally somewhat.

The schedule will contain things like menus. As it stands, I just eat whatever is around and is appealing (and also cans of green beans when I feel like I’m not being healthy enough), which is terrible for my diet and also terrible for my sanity (since it contributes to my feelings of my life being stuck in limbo), so hey, why not actually plan my meals out in advance? That should make grocery shopping easier, too, since we’re not just buying ingredients and foodstuffs that we might need, just the ones that we do need.

So, today, my priorities are, in no particular order:

Do a page of my Math homework

Catch up on reading my Java textbook

Play the Sims

Take care of my health and hygiene (shower, eat green beans, brush my teeth)

START WORKING ON SAID SCHEDULE

I have priorities for this whole week, of course.

Tomorrow and Monday, the remaining days of the weekend, my priorities are (as in, I need to do all of these both days, not just one of the two days):

Do another page of my Math homework

Work on my final project in Java

Work on all my late English essays since the last day to turn in late work is Tuesday (tomorrow I’ll focus on the thesis statements and conclusions, Monday I’ll focus on the body paragraphs; the essays and the Connect assignments are the only things I’m still missing any of, and I’ve decided to disregard the remaining Connect stuff because we’ve already had the post-test for Connect and my teacher has made comments about how I only actually need to do 20 assignments or something to get an A)

Take care of my health and hygiene (tomorrow I’ll just eat green beans and brush my teeth, but on Monday I’ll be doing one of my BIG showers (normal showers are just rinsing my body, shampooing my hair, and maybe shaving my face completely if I have to go out before the next time I shower and cleaning the bathroom mirror (I need to clean the bathroom mirror in order to shave); BIG showers are all that PLUS using body wash (even in all my hardest-to-reach places like under my nails and in NSFW places), using special foot soap on my feet, using baby soap on my face, cleaning my glasses completely in the sink once I’m done shaving, shaving my chest completely, and shaving my legs... well, until either they’re shaved completely, I cut myself, or I run out of hot water))

Go to class (9:00 AM to 12:00-2:00 PM, depending on how soon my roommate gets out of class)

Do a page of my Math homework (I might be able to get away with doing some of it during my Economics class, since I’ve gotten away with working on Math homework in there before and I don’t have anything better to do (I don’t have to worry about the lecture because Econ is fucking easy, and I’m not allowed to have electronics so I can’t browse Tumblr during class like I can in English- I can browse Twitter, since I can hide my phone from the teacher, but I refuse to use Tumblr on anything other than my laptop))

Work on my final project in Java

Work on my final essay in English (focusing on the thesis statement and conclusion during English class, focusing on the body paragraphs at home)

Play the Sims

Take care of my health and hygiene (eat grean beans and brush my teeth)

Wednesday:

Go to class (5:00 PM to 7:00-9:00 PM, depending on when the teacher excuses us)

Take care of my health and hygiene (shower and brush my teeth; I won’t even push myself to eat green beans on Wednesday)

Wednesday’s schedule is so much lighter because, as I’ve already mentioned before, Wednesdays are utter garbage days for me because I can’t get used to evening classes, and I can’t reasonably expect myself to do much of anything

Do a page of my Math homework (again, I might be able to get away with doing some of it in class)

Rejoice, for I am finally fucking done with this hell semester (if I had more IRL friends that I had been on good enough terms with to do this out of nowhere, I might have thrown a party; as it stands, I might throw a sort of “digital” party by celebrating on social media)

Get back to work on the things that I put on the backburner until this semester was over (Byzantium Love and War (and Gensokyo’s Heart if I make enough progress on BLaW), cleaning my room, cleaning the area by the printer so I can put a shelf there for my favorite things, keeping up with my To-Do List, finally starting to transition into the kind of girl I want to be, going through my drafts, getting my queue up and running, working on my sex game (which I have completely reimagined now as being the same thing as Automaton Contract, so now I actually have some sort of direction for this thing, and also holy shit I am actually going to start working on this idea that has been rattling around inside my brain for two years), working on projects for my family, job hunting, finishing my original models, etc- this may all seem like pretty heavy stuff for me to get into considering I’m trying to reduce the number of responsibilities I have, but they’re all things that shouldn’t be too much work, honestly)
