BESTIE YOU ASKED AND I WILL DELIVER i'm prolly gonna put this shit under a cut in case I ramble lol. I wasn't sure like,,,what you meant by main characters? So I just picked all the characters under "main" on the Wikipedia page.

Under the cut! Please don't shade me <3 no disrespect if you like the characters or disagree with what i say <3

Melanie: The show got better when she was away for most of it. That's when the writers had to make the train and the other characters stand on their own two feets and it made the show even better when she came back.

Layton: What can I say about this man that others have not said? I think neither of his canon love interests deserve him and why does Till love him so much?

Till: I feel like sometimes her soft uwu lesbianness crosses the line into infantilisation/immaturity and I don't like that. S2 was her best moments and then in S3 as soon as Audrey came back it was like she reverted to S1 in a bad way. I also don't think the writers know how they want to retroactively look back on Till either. If that makes sense.

Ruth: Her endless fucking cuddling up to Melanie got annoying when it was pretty apparent that Melanie didn't ever treat her that well. I dislike characters with little self-respect. Get a better mentor/friend, Ruth - and I say that with love! She's a great character but her constant going back to Melanie annoyed me. I was glad she put her foot down in S3.

Audrey: She should have died in S3. And I don't know why Till went back for her.

Bennett: Maybe if he banged Wilford five ways to Sunday they'd both calm down

Jinju: She would have been a great S2/S3 character. And I think it was right of her to lie to Till considering Till was just. A bit too idealistic in S1 lol.

Josie: If developed properly, her relo with Bennett could really take off. Both of them are similar in that they pine after people who just. categorically put other people/the train ahead of them. It could be a nice bonding moment.

Osweiller: I don't like the way the show tried to make him into this uwu boyfriend character.

Zarah: I take her side in the argument she had with Layton about giving the cold-resistance genes to Liana. Layton fucked off for six months, so he's not exactly an active parent, and what parent wouldn't want to protect their kid from the cold? The whole 'you stamped her with Wilford' was a low blow, man.

Javi: He's way too well-adjusted in S3. I needed to see him sobbing more.

Roche: I'm not sure why they made him so like...unsympathetic to his own daughter late S3? I didn't get the progression there.

LJ: The way she died was fucking hilarious. Perfect way for her to go.

Miles: He's way WAY too nice and buddy buddy with Melanie considering what she did to his birth family, to Layton, to Josie, to the Tail. Like. Come on.

Pike: He looked so much better clean shaven in S3.

Alex: She was kinda annoying at the beginning of S3.

Wilford: Literally anything I've ever said about him ever. He needs to faint and throw up next season. Ben needs to give him some dick too. <3

Sykes: She doesn't really stand out though I think her and Javi's relationship was a big missed opportunity to bridge the gap between the Big Alice and Snowpiercer ways of life.

Asha: Unnecessary! We didn't need her if she was just going to fall off the face of the earth in the way she did, and also they have those new people in S4 so like. WHY?

Season 4 Predictions!!!

OK, folks.  Predictions time.

Straight up, lets get to the last scene in S3.  The rocket exploding. A lot of the predictions I have seen think this is launched for whatever reason (an accident, something the kids found laying around to play with, a signal) from Layton’s group. Not possible, folks. Remember that it takes 133 days for Snowpiecer to make one revolution.  They were only three months out according to the shows timetable.  So there is no way they are coming back up on where the trains separated.  With that said, there is NO WAY that Layton’s group launched that missile.  Could there have been a missile on Big Alice?  Absolutely.  Wilford could have had Santa Claus hidden on that train from what I can tell.  I mean, after all, he had spare parts to build a large EMI bomb.  He had a laser cannon on it......the man could have had ANYTHING on that train. But could that missile have been launched by Big Alice? Granted, it takes 133 days to make one revolution.  And they have been on that journey for 90 days.  That means they are still 43 days from The separation point. I don’t care HOW big your missile is folks, no one is going to see it from 43 days out. The next point is the one I like the best. Look at Melanie's reaction to seeing that missile.  Look at the expression on her face. She isn’t surprised.  She isn’t interested.  She isn’t even mildly curious. Whatever that missile is, Melanie knows exactly what it represents. Some people speculate that the missile is another CW7 missile. Interesting perspective. They also ascertain that somehow Wilford is involved. I hope not. Why? Go back to Wilford in S3.  In my own humble opinion, I found a less certain, and eventually brought down Wilford a lot more interesting than he had been in any episode up to then. I felt in the second half of S3 we got our first real look at what Wilford could be if he started taking his medications again.  The man who would sit down and think things out.  Why did Wilford work so hard to get Melanie back on the train?  Because deep down he knew he needed her.  I always said Wilford wasn’t sitting in that library feeling sorry or himself.  He was planning.  And he knew that if he was to succeed in getting his train back (and lets throw Wilford a bone here, it is, when everything is said and done, HIS train), he needed an intermediary.  Someone he felt maybe didn’t sit right next to him, but was still eating at the same table. That person was Melanie.  Someone he thought on some level was a friend.  Someone he thought he understood.  Someone he so desperately needed on his side, he overlooked even the smallest possibility of betrayal. While I’m not sure yet what that missile is, I do have ideas about who sent it up. I would like to think it is some sort of signal, and that is a possibility.  Snowpiercer is following the same route (we believe) that it has taken the previous 18 times it circumnavigated the globe.  If someone else is out there, surely they’ve made the connection that this is where and when this train comes around every 133 days. Now, we also have a new addition to our little intrepid band of complete idiots.  Whether he be friend or foe has yet to be decided.  I am thinking definitely foe. Since Wilford is currently out of the picture, and as I have said in previous posts, aside from the majority of the viewing audience, the show currently has no antagonist. Now, there is the possibility Wilford ended up wherever that missile launched from and he has a new group of crazy followers.  And possibly the missile launch is a way to lure Snowpiecer to them. Personally, no matter how this plays out, of one thing I am certain.  Bennett will inevitably do something incomprehensively stupid, completely opposing Melanie’s good sense, and wind them up in another miserable situation.  Mostly because that is simply what he does.  WHY Melanie stayed with this idiot eludes me.  He NEVER supports her decisions, he bullies her into doing things, not caring less how they will effect her, while he is bordering on ’control freak’ in wanting her loyal to him, he does not show that same loyalty to her, he lies to her on a regular basis, he is THE REASON they ended up in the whole Wilford mess to begin with, he is just generally irritating, and aside from messing up Melanie's plans, serves no real purpose that I can tell. Now, there is an interesting theory out there I came across recently that plays like this: The rocket is, in fact, a new CW7 launch, and recognizing it, Melanie, knowing they likely ran Big Alice into the ground getting to the warm spot, hightails it off to rescue Layton’s group.  Now, I have no explanation how anyone or anything is going to make it across that bridge again, but according to the theory, they get all of the Big Alice crew back on board Snowpiercer and take off again.  The problem suggested for S4 is that they now are back down to the original train needing to support all the passengers. This was presented as a HUGE problem. I don’t see it. You get back the same amount of people who left (possibly a few less....you know....things happen), you get back your supplies, you’re already down in population via apparently a nasty case of actors not wanting to com..........I mean ‘flu’.......a nasty case of ‘flu‘,.........I don’t see the issue. Also, for S4 plot lines, lets not forget that one big question mark hanging over the fandom that the writers up until now have failed to even recognize, let alone write into the script; Alex’s father. I would LOVE to see this new character they are bringing into the storyline be Alex’s father.  I don’t know why, but it would totally make S4 for me. In addition, they need to wrap up a lot of stuff in ten episodes.  Because the chances they are going to get a S5 past someone else picking up this show sound to be pretty much ’0’. Beyond anything else, I think they need to reunite the groups, because ending the show still running two separate storylines would just suck. In addition, in order to die a happy woman, I really need to see my two little besties, Layton and Melanie, back working together.  Lets face it, folks, aside from how Ruth ran the underground on Big Alice, Melanie and Layton’s sneak attack on Wilford was one of the  best parts of S3.  Nothing, in my opinion, makes the show more interesting than when those two work together.  They are perfect together......but that’s another whole fandom.

And did anyone take notice of the strangest thing about where that rocket was set off? It’s snowing!

(The author of this article totally acknowledges that it was written before the announcement about the show’s cancellation after S4.  That announcement did not effect much of this post, but did call into question the author‘s believe in there being one single good show worth watching in 2024.)

Snowpiercer S3E10 thoughts: and then there were two

OH BOY I CANT EVEN PUT MY THOUGHTS COHERENTLY TOGETHER.

This episode was so powerful. And I mean SO powerful. The most Snowpiercer episode and the best episode of the season, hands down (sorry episode 9 my beloved). I got chills and teared up at at least three moments, and so did my mum (who am I kidding, my mum was crying throughout 90% of the episode because she's a softie and I love her).

Oh boy. Ok so, let me dispell with the "negative" comments first, but I thought the turn from "let's fight" to "ok let's separate the trains because we're good friends and we love each other 🥰" was a bit too sudden. It kinda felt like it came out of nowhere, but I can see they had limited time and had to work with what they got, and that the Wilford plan acted as the catalyst.

Second negative comment was whatever the fuck happened with LJ, it felt stupid and while I was devastated when I heard she dies in this episode, I just... didn't feel anything in that moment. It really felt shoehorned in, like the actress got a new deal for another project or sth and the writers were like "oh fuck, we gotta kill her character off so that the actress will be free to do that other more important thing". Anyway, goodbye LJ, my little beautiful psycho bridezilla. Os will miss you and so will I.

ANYWAY. On to the good stuff. Where do I even start? Oh yes, I know. Ruth going with Melanie. Ruth saying "I'm coming with you, I can't leave you to do this on your own can I?". Ruth being willing to stick by Melanie's side, until she brought up Wilford. Like. That was so painful and beautiful in so many ways. "I've redeemed myself too far to go back to this" YES GIRL YOU HAVE AND I'M SO SO PROUD OF YOU. Ruth gets better and better with every struggle, she's literally one of the best, if not the best, written characters in the show, and Alison Wright is a goddess and I will stand by that no matter what.

And yes that's me pushing my MelRuth agenda, especially WITH THE PIN SCENE WHERE RUTH TURNS TRISTAN'S PIN TO AN M AND IT BEING A DIRECT CALLBACK TO S1 OH MY G O D. I got chills. My mum got chills. She doesn't even ship MelRuth (hardcore MelBen stan, lucky her), but she teared up at that. It was beautiful.

Also so proud for Tristan!!!! He moved up from being a meek, anxious underdog to being the head of Hospitality!!! He's so brave and I'm so proud of him and I hope we see more of him in S4.

Now on Boki... My poor man. My baby. He's so broken but when they were all cheering his name like in S1 he smiled 😭😭 and then his scene with Headwood... She's like his mother in that scene I love it. He protecc. If only he hadn't yeeted poor Os like that.

Alex my sweet baby angel... I don't have much to say for her other than that I just love her and I'm happy she made her own choices even if the goodbye scene with Mel ruined me.

So uh... Wilford's out for now, which is a pity bc legit Sean Bean is one of the stars of this show, really bringing some higher quality to it. But then again, he is Sean Bean, so, he's already lasted more than I thought a Sean Bean character would.

No I'm not done talking about Ruth and I never will. The scene where she smacks Boki with a shovel and he turns and glares her down and she's like "mistakes have been made". I laughed so hard. I love this trope of a small(ish) character hitting a big scary immune-to-damage character and the second not even flinching, and the first character realising that "huh, I done fucked up".

ALSO RUTH REUNITING WITH HER RAT BUDDY FROM THE REBEL DAYS. I want to see her keep the rat as a pet in S4. I want her to name him Jimminy.

Ok on to the next thing that I'm gonna talk about for 5 hours: BESS AND TILL MY BEAUTIFUL LESBIANS I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THIS IS HONESTLY THE BEST CANON SHIP IN THE SHOW IDC IDC.

I thought up until the last moment that Audrey would betray Till for Wilford, I really did. And when I realised that she was free of his brainwashing and abuse? It was literally perfect. My heart ached for her, and she did finally come full cycle, she came back to who she truly was and what she did best, and I am so proud of her.

No really because she and Till bring out the best in each other and are really two perfect halves of a perfect whole, they helped find each other and it's just. Beautiful. They invented Soulmatism.

Till running to Audrey in the last possible moment before the separation?? Layton being happy for her and letting her go??? Honestly PERFECTION.

On to a few smaller comments: Miles my sweet baby son. He's grown so much. I literally love him more than anything and can't wait to see him be a kid with Alex and Carly. The goodbye scene with him and Josie and Layton was so beautiful and sad.

Josie and Layton FINALLY being together. That's the only good ship for Layton ever idc.

Ben and Javi... "Adiós amigo...."... I'm not okay...

BEN AND MEL..... LISTEN. Listen I am a MelRuth simp. But BenMel ticks all my favourite m/f ship boxes too and, well, I am a weak bi™. I'm so glad he stayed with her. I know they'll take care of each other... I love them both so much.

Oh another negative thing I gotta say is that Layton...bestie...calm down... Nobody's forcing y'all back into the Tail... Melanie literally only said "hey let's take some time to assess the risks properly and not cross a very dangerous track based on hope alone"... Anyway at least he came around in the end I guess.

And now to them getting out of the train.... That scene needed colour correction, saturation and contrast adjustments SO BAD. The cgi train looked better than the real-ass location they filmed this in. But also seeing everyone being so happy and playing around in the sun and water and earth... Bless their souls. So happy for them!!!

And last but not least... That cliffhanger. What the FUCK was that. What the ACTUAL FUCK. Who's throwing nukes???? Why is Melanie heading there???? What is happening???? Whomst??? What??? How??? QUE LE FUCK????

Also I was about to type "see you next week" and then I realised there's not gonna be a new episode next week... My heart broke a little and I am emotional. But hey, this was a great ending to S3, and S4 is confirmed, so, see you next season for more commentary, and of course, I'll always be around for headcanons and theories and crazy thoughts about everyone's favourite train idiots! So, until season 4, everyone! 💖
