After exiting the mountain the fellowship quickly ran towards the forest of Lothlorien, saddened and weary. Pilindiel looked over to see Boromir staring into the forest, unsure of what lay ahead. Long ago she had left Rivendell behind, a place that had always been her home. Shaking her head, the female cleared her thoughts as Aragorn and Legolas led them into the dense woods. She could feel Boromir following close to her, protecting her. Feeling her heart hammering in her chest, Pilindiel bit her lip, hoping the Elves were gracious. Suddenly she heard Gimli saying something about an Elf witch of terrible powers. A shudder went through her body at the thought. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to see Boromir staring at her.

Boromir smiled at the female. “All will be well.” He nodded as they continued walking. Suddenly the group halted as arrows were pointed at them from all directions.

“The Dwarf breathes so loud we could have shot him in the dark.” A voice spoke out amongst the trees.

Pilindiel looked to see a tall Elven male emerging between the archers.

“These woods are perilous. I say we go back.” Gimli swallowed and looked at the other members of the fellowship.

“You have entered the realm of the lady of the wood. You cannot go back.”

Pilindiel nodded and followed behind Boromir, listening to the sound of their feet in the leaves below them. After a short walk, they made it to the center of Lothlorien, Caras Galadhon. Looking out from the top of a hill, the fellowship followed Haldir, the Elven Marchwarden. Once they made it to the great city, the fellowship was brought to the center. Looking around, the brunette realized how gorgeous the elven kingdom was. Her mind wandered and she didn’t even notice when two figures descended the steps in front of them. Suddenly, Pilindiel heard a voice inside her head.

Pilindiel, lady of Gondor. You travel upon this journey, unsure of where it will take you. Fear not. For you will see the white city.

It took a few moments for Pilindiel to realize that it was the Elven queen who had spoken. She looked around, wondering if anyone else had heard.

“Rest now. For you are weary with much sorrow.” Galadriel smiled and nodded to Haldrir.

Leading them to a small area in the woods, the company began unpacking and sitting down to rest.

Pilindiel stayed by herself, staring deeper into the forest, pondering the Elf Queen’s words. Could I possibly see Gondor? The White City? She heard footsteps behind her and turned to see Boromir standing next to her.

“My lady.” Boromir smiled, nodding to her. He had taken off his cloak and sword belt and laid them against one of the nearby trees. His eyes watched as she sharpened a dagger that she had been carrying throughout the journey.

A few moments later, Aragorn approached the pair. “Take some rest. These borders are well protected.”

The female nodded as she put away the dagger. After a moment she watched Aragorn walk away as Boromir began speaking.

“I will find no rest here.” The man spoke and shook his head as he walked over to the tree and sat by it. “I heard a voice inside my head. She spoke of my father and the fall of Gondor.” He looked up at the female with tears in his eyes. “She said to me, ‘even now there is hope.’ But I can’t see it.” Boromir sighed, looking down into his hands. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had any hope.”

Pilindiel still said nothing as she took a seat next to him.

“My father is a noble man, but his rule is failing, and our people lose faith. He looks to me to make things right and I would do it.” Boromir took a deep breath as he stared at the lights glittering in the forest. “I would see the glory of Gondor restored. Have you ever seen it, Pilindiel? The White Tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver, its banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?”

The female shook her head. “I have never seen Gondor before.” She turned to look at the man, remembering Galadriel’s words. “But I hope to one day.”

“One day, our paths will lead us there.” Boromir smiled as he placed his hand on the female’s knee. “And the tower guard shall take up the call. ‘The Lord and Lady of Gondor have returned.’”

Pilindiel gave a smile, imagining herself in the city of men. “I do not know what strength is in my blood, but I swear to you, we will not let the White City fall, nor our people fail.”
