Summary: A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a long lost relic, but their charming adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
Release Date: March 31, 2023
Directors: Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley
Rating: PG-13
I went in with mid-tier expectations due to the early trailers being meh, but it ended up being one of my favorite films of 2023! There are so many genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, the cast is phenomenal, and it’s wildly entertaining from start to finish. So if you’ve been avoiding this film due to low expectations, I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

*if you pick secret fourth thing, i kindly ask that you don't say "both" in the tags. I unfortunately don't have the spoons to make headers for both at the moment
I can't guarantee I'll actually like. finish these. But, I'd like to eventually (key word there being "eventually" alskdjf) add some other fandoms besides Knight Squad to my icon page ✨💖

okay so here's the thing i don't understand the appeal of "psychological horror" as a genre or type of horror film in itself. first off all horror movies (and while we're at it ALL movies in general) are reflective of human psychology and the unconscious in one way or another so jot that down . second i think the beauty of the creature or monster has become undervalued to us all perhaps just because it's like, the oldest thing in the horror genre but i love a beast. don't you guys like when there's a Thing and it;s Going to Get you. or even a Guy. i'm definitely just thinking about this too hard but while i do love horror films that relate to madness and paranoia and altered states of mind and such i think that valuing the cerebral over things like creature features or other horror genres that are more fantastical/supernatural is just . it's boring! something i feel i've started to see a lot more lately just in conversations with people about movies and seeing people post online is a change in people's levels of willingness to give in to suspension of disbelief. movies aren't real THAT'S THE FUN PART! it's all fantasy! movies aren't real! they can be unrealistic isn't that the entire point! this is just a guess but do people prefer psychological horror because it's more "intellectual" than other types of films in the genre? are we really gonna do the elevated horror thing again . i think i would be happy if i never saw those two words next to each other again ever for the rest of my life

Summary: Unpopular best friends PJ and Josie start a high school fight club to meet girls and lose their virginity. They soon find themselves in over their heads when the most popular students start beating each other up in the name of self-defense.
Release Date: August 25, 2023
Director: Emma Seligman
Rating: R
I couldn’t rave about this movie more! I genuinely think it’s one of the funniest movies ever, and it’s unapologetically queer AF! Easily one of the best films of the year, and in a just world, it would receive recognition during awards season (but this is not a just world). Rachel Sennott, Ayo Edebiri, and Ruby Cruz are sensational, and I’d also recommend watching Emma Seligman’s first film, Shiva Baby if you haven’t (also starring Rachel Sennott).
