The characterization of Sabo is just so perfect in this???? The thing is that in canon, Sabo doesn’t end up having to choose between his nobility and being a revolutionary, mostly because his ties to his nobility are already cut by his amnesia, but also because he has no reason to remain a noble in the first place beyond the leverage they try to hold over him. Sabo as a world noble however Cannot leave his situation because it is the way he is the most useful to the revolutionaries.

Also their deconstruction of the way the world nobles operate and how they choose successors among the nobles is excellent. The fact that they actively look for those who are able to see outside of the conditioning they have applied to their children to have them lead and uphold their corrupt institution is so interesting?? Not to mention Sabo’s entire struggle between his morality and his nobility and how in this he is surrounded by a scenario that makes it all the harder to uphold his morality and how there are times when he does actually feel the need to make Imu or the elders proud and just ughhghshdghsdgjsdg

I love everything about this fic and I wish there were more of it lmao I went on a spree after this fic of looking for more sabo-centric fics that placed him in an inescapable position as a noble but nothing hits quite as hard as this fic

a lot of people seem to use Entry #60 as 'proof' for the crux of the "Brian didn't care about Tim, he was Taking Advantage of Tim's conditions and Forcing him to work as part of totheark" thing, but honestly when you think about it there's no possible way Brian could have possibly orchestrated that series of events, like you almost have to interpret that as a baffling group of coincidences

So, I wish to gently put this reminder out here, because we find that we've been in this position once more where there's a high activity of stalking by our perpetrator who we knew from the rpc since February 4--- last time we read her being tracked on November 12 - 14 last year--- I am highly uncomfortable to interact with a muse who have a history of manipulation and / or especially stalking. I do believe muse =/= mun and I am okay to talk and read about manipulation and stalking, but while providing trigger tag + warning of them would be most appreciated to give me the chance of building mental preparation to read them, we prefer not to plot and write with that kind of character for our comfort and wellbeing. Thoughts on toxic yuri?

One of my very favorite storytelling concepts, I love it when women make each other worse. <3

I do think it's important, for me anyway, to note the difference between a dynamic that's toxic in one direction versus something that is mutually toxic. The first one doesn't really interest me a whole lot, usually because it means one character suffers constantly without being allowed to do anything else--at the very least, it will come across as the more ""normal"" character not really being that into the relationship in question. I need BOTH parties to be unhinged.

The important thing for any fictional relationship (though we're specifying toxic yuri here, obviously) is that it's interesting. If there is no limit to what the women can do within a dynamic, then there are an infinite number of ways for that dynamic to go. And while you can learn a lot about a character through examining their values and positive qualities, you can learn just as much (if not more) by considering their flaws. And those flaws really come out in the case of toxic yuri; characters get to show the uglier parts of themselves in this context, which I am always a fan of. A fraught, complex relationship, when written well, can be a really great way to psychologically explore the characters: what inspires them to act this way? why do they think this behavior is acceptable? if they don't think it's acceptable, why do they keep doing it? what do they think about the concept of love as a whole? how far would they go for intimacy or to be understood? how do they view other people in general? and probably most importantly, what led to them developing the beliefs underlying their actions in the first place?

From a more "psychologically, why do people enjoy this" standpoint, mutual toxicity often goes hand in hand with extreme obsession, extreme jealousy, and a willingness to forgive a whole lot of horrible shit. Which, yeah, in real life you don't want to be in a relationship like that. But I think there's a lot of emotional resonance in exploring those feelings. The idea that someone will never leave you. That they think so intensely about you specifically that they'll break anything and anyone to stay with you. That even if you're the worst version of yourself, someone will still want you because that's still you. Someone knows exactly how to fuck you up because they genuinely understand you. Things in fiction that we would never want in real life can be incredibly interesting or even cathartic to witness from a distance. I think we all feel things that scare us sometimes (or even simply feel an innocuous emotion so intensely that it scares us), and looking at unpleasant feelings within fiction can help identify, parse out, process, and successfully cope with those feelings. And I think, at the end of it all, a lot of people want to matter to someone, in some way. It makes sense that some creators would take that concept-of meaning a great deal to another person, of affecting them deeply-to its absolute extreme through writing.

(And also, consider. That I am very gay. And that horrible women are very attractive.)

Hmmmm tbh if I’ve stated it makes me uncomfortable before then I just appreciate avoiding it. I do follow other fnaf AUs and like learning about them but only if I’m the one finding them or asking about them or joining a server to learn more about them. Heck even checking my FYP let’s me genuinely find things I enjoy at my own pace ^^; but If my own blog keeps getting recommendations from other people’s AUs and info dumping without even asking before doing so then it feels like it’s not my own space :Tc it kinda sorta feels like it’s being used for self promoting their own stuff and I won’t even enjoy it because of that, it’s hard to explain it in English but honestly even if that’s not the intention it makes me uncomfortable nonetheless unfortunately.

i have to say, though, as much as i like reading about the astarion romance and absorbing it passively via tumblr posts, as of yet i'm far more intrigued by the dynamic astarion and my durge character have going on when they don't romance astarion and when they thought he was a nuisance (derogatory) up until late act 2/early act 3. it adds such good layers imo...

because, well, they aren't doing it for any benefit, they don't love him more or differently than the others—quite the opposite, actually. he's probably the least favourite party member for quite some time, and yet they do all these things for him. they put up with him despite disagreeing all the fucking time; they don't mind his...clumsy vampire reveal; they protect him from (i.e. don't rat him out to) the monster hunter; they let him feed on them—and don't chase him away after he accidentally kills them the first time—repeatedly, even when that means they're woozy for the day; they walk him through the whole raphael quest, only sometimes stepping in to be a guiding hand but otherwise letting astarion make his own decisions; they promise to come along to fight cazador; they promise to try and steer the ritual in astarion's favour; ...

they do all of that, again, not because they love astarion in a more significant way (though i don't think romantic relationships are by default more significant than platonic ones but i digress), not because he's somehow special to them. and, again, he only became a nuisance (affectionate) after late act 2, early act 3. their relationship was at a whopping 0 or -1 for a LONG time. so them doing all these things for him still, despite the bumpy relationship they have, feels so significant to me.

and from what i passively absorb about astarion's charatcer, it must be utter whiplash to experience! imagine the guy who can't stand a single opinion you have, who you also can't be fucked to care about beyond your alliance of convenience, repeatedly risks their own skin for you and goes out of their way to help you in various ways, asking for nothing in return—when you fully expect someone who doesn't even like you to ask for something, literally just anything in return. who does that??? are they mad??? of course, you begrudgingly also risk your skin for them once in a while, but usually only in immediate battle—where you obviously have to mind your allies. but they keep defending you in dialogue and refusing to rat you out when they have every reason to do so.

after 200 years with cazador, it seems such far away a notion, so utterly impossible that someone does something for/with him just because they respect his autonomy and personhood. not because they value him as an asset but simply because he exists. what the hell

you know what i would love to be an option in bg3? making your own party member. like Icewind Dale style. choose their class, voice, appearance and travel with them. obvs i understand why they didnt, but it wouldve been so fun to have the option to make your own member, esp if they could be incorporated into your backstory. a sibling, parent, spouse, adventuring buddy, best friend.

#this being spurred on by my want of my pc sabine being joined by my drow pc schezelle #have been working on them more (made sabine a lathander paladin as that made more sense and schezelle a seluné worshipping sorcerer) #they both knew each other through mutual friends becore being kidnapped in baldurs gate. while sabine was an experienced adventurer #schezelle only recently escaped the underdark after betraying her family after being rescued by members of sabines adventuring party #so all this kind of danger is very new and scary for her. i have her at about 70 #(young adult in elf years) and sabine a half elf at 45. #whereas sabine follows the canonical romance line with shadowheart #schezelle falls for astarion and supports him unequivocally but gets trapped into a relationship with him when she helps him ascend and #his alignment/the relationship as a whole changes. after the tadpole is removed the rest of the party help her get away from him and #in the meantime she looks for a way to use either true restoration/resurrection/some other cure for his vampirism #because she realizes she made a HUGE mistake just going along with everything he wanted to do #and only went along with it because 1. her own alignment is still slowly becoming unfucked cos. female drow raised in the underdark #2. shes just used to doing what people who like her say because its easier that way and doesnt make conflict #i dont think she gets back together with astarion after she finds a cure for him but they stay close. she returns to waterdeep with sabine #and shadowheart to live in the formers tavern with her adventuring party #maybe falls in love with gale while researching cures for astarion #idk yet still thinking things through and going through the game #anyway yeah. wish i couldve made a friend for sabine. think she gets lonely and misses home a lot during the adventure.

we’re all going to the world’s fair soundtrack making me cry and feel so incredibly melancholy it’s like indescribable. the internet.

I guess I'm just confused that fans of watcher are willing to pay sometimes $100 or more in ticket prices to see the live shows with Shane and Ryan but then $6 is really offensive and a betrayal of an ask... like one mystery files hoodie costs more than a year of their (currently announced price of the) site subscription. Don't get me wrong because I do NOT think the paywall was the right decision or announced the right way, I don't think it's going to work. But. I have seen and heard several people say they buy tickets and merch, why can't that be enough? $6 is too expensive! But I'm sitting here confused because. The tickets and merch are way more than six dollars..???? I'm really really confused about that point. It's not that I don't understand that $6 can be unaffordable, it's just... so many people say they can't spend $6 while in the same breath have been boasting about how so far they've been able to spend money on concerts and patreon and buying shirts and blind boxes and the premium YouTube subscription because creators get a bigger chunk of the money that way (watcher should be GLAD they supported them btw!); but SIX DOLLARS? They can't pay that! It's odd. Is all I'm saying.

On the flip side, I saw people saying that because they live outside of the us they would get charged a double tax that they couldn't afford due to having to transfer money overseas; I feel like that's a really good point. Once this goes behind a paywall, international audiences will have a much harder time accessing content moving forward, if they can at all (not every country plays nice with PayPal). Even if they can afford the $6, there will be a heap of fees on top of it - or there won't even be a way to get the money to the service in the first place.

Absolutely the fact that Watchers' content is suddenly becoming paywalled seemingly immediately moving forward with little warning is a big shock and at first when watching the video, I didn't think they were serious. Having witnessed a successful launch of a YouTube channel into a paid subscription site with the exact price that watcher is asking for... they are not doing it right. Not for their audience. But people are so so focused on how expensive six dollars is and not on the other implications of this decision, which just... am I in the wrong here?? There's a bigger conversation i feel could be had but everyone is really really focusing on the BETRAYAL of six dollars... and I feel like I'm going crazy because that wasn't even in my first handful of thoughts about why this was a bad idea

i love how passionate and emotional fic seongjoong is when irl they're like... an arranged marriage... lol

#not to say that they don't like each other or anything but. atz in particular seem quite aware (and not hiding it) of the practice of #ships -- not as in 'fans produce fanworks of you' but rather 'fans like your dynamics! play it up a little' #and the leader + the second 'highest' member are almost always shipped together as the 'mom' and 'dad' #which kind of doesn't make sense because a marriage usually precedes having children but in kpop is like. well here's a group and you're #two eldest members so you automatically get the mom/dad positions. sometimes it works -- whether automatically or because the #aforementioned members feel the need to take care of other members as they're the eldest -- but sometimes the dynamic is clearly #just there for the fans. and i can't help but notice that a whole bunch of 'moments' in 'seongjoong compilations' are like... not authentic #moments of them enjoying their time together but them being awkward/having awkward banter/doing fanservice during fanmeetings #and that's Different from the organic air ie woosan have #this is not to make fun of seongjoong fans because I PERSONALLY put very dramatic seongjoong in my hashtag Fic Verse #but then my fic verse was kickstarted because of that hwalazia magic and a single line in atz diary from fever 1. so it is. shall we say. #not particularly canon-inspired. #but i WOULD kill and die for every single fanfiction in which seongjoong aren't romantic sweethearts at the first sight but rather Struggle #i feel like Struggling is this... sort of a facet of their Brand... and so is mutually taking care of each other lol #they're like. this arranged marriage couple who grew to care about each other. not like 'oh shit two months in i realized i'm incredibly in #love with my spouse!' but 'yeah yknow what i like you here. stay' #good afternoon everyone enjoy this meandering and probably incorrect analysis of a relationship between two kpop lads #shrimp thoughts

is it just me or does Devi feel so much more herself around Ben, as opposed to trying to put up a facade around Paxton bc she doesn't feel comfortable showing her more vulnerable and flawed sides to him??

bc Ben knows all of her and still loves her anyway but she's constantly afraid that Paxton will no longer want her if she doesn't act a certain way or do certain things (which is why she's trying to have sex with him in 3x01 so he won't leave her)

it's not necessarily Paxton's fault (he thankfully didn't pressure her) but regardless that feeling of insecurity is still there...whereas with Ben that feeling of not being enough for him was never there in the first place

It’s not just you, I 100% agree with this! To add on to what you’re saying:

Devi definitely doesn’t feel comfortable with Paxton and I think she knows it. She’s knows there is something off about their relationship, she just can’t figure out what. When they started dating, she thought it would fix all her problems and she would be happy. Obviously that’s not what happens, and her idealization of him is beginning to be broken down. She is seeing him for what he is and she’s terrified of him seeing her.

Now you could attribute her not wanting to open up to Paxton to her own insecurities that have nothing to do with Paxton. But if that was all it was, then she would also be reluctant to open up to Ben, which has never really been a problem for her.

She knows she can trust Ben, that’s why she is so comfortable around him. She doesn’t have to think about her actions or hide herself from him. Not only when it comes to her true personality, but also her struggles because Ben truly cares about her. He’s always there to listens and to offer non judgmental advice.

The difference between Ben and Paxton is that Ben has never made Devi like she is less than him. He has never made her feel like she doesn’t deserve everything.

Paxton has, on several occasions made her feel this way. He has let her know that he was embarrassed to be seen with her and maybe he doesn’t feel that way anymore but Devi remembers that he said that. She has those words from him in her mind and that’s why she feels she has to change herself to be with him.

While Ben has made it clear that Paxton doesn’t deserve Devi. Even after all the crap they’ve been through, Ben cares about her and wants her to be happy. I don’t know if she truly realizes why she is so comfortable around Ben, but I hope she figures it out this season. They have such a wonderful relationship. No matter what happens they will always be the supper ship to me. Their relationship just has so much depth to it and it would be a waste if they didn’t explore that further.
