ok anyone who's read The Daughter of Doctor Moreau, Silver Nitrate, or Velvet Was The Night - can you tell me the level of romance in them? i love mexican gothic, except I thought the romance was unnecessary, and the other few SMG books I've read I enjoyed generally but the romance elements were uninteresting and/or annoying to me. i wanna read more of her books bc they have cool and interesting concepts.......it’d be nice at least to know what to expect re: romance

The opening of Never Let Me Go was wild. I was ready to jump through the screen when Nuengdiao's mom was like, glad you understand the job is more important to your father than you :) but it was just a ruse because he was really there.

And then Nuengdiao made a wish about spending more time with his dad, and i said to myself you can't say wishes out loud or they won't come true, so say goodbye to your dad. Only for his dad to get shot in an alley moments later, Wayne Family Style!

So I’m done with ST S04 vol.1, and while I guess I was mostly entertained, there were a few things that I didn’t appreciate:

the revival of Steve x Nancy. Was never a fan, and as or right now, the situation is like. Super icky. With how they ended with Nancy cheating on him with Jonhathan, and now they want to bring them back together with Nancy cheating on Johnathan with him? Like yikes ?? Alternatively: death flags

I could have done with a little less whump? Like I know what show I’m watching, but it looks like they turned it up a notch this season? Or is that me?

and my biggest gripe, and frankly the reason I’m even writing this post, the way we were tricked into thinking we’d see more of Billy than we actually did? And all we got was like 10 seconds of him, and it wasn’t even actually him him. Not even a lousy flashback (his death scene doesn’t count) Just a hallucination. A pretty one, but I digress

Anyway I will be watching vol.2, but I’m definitely not as hyped about it as I was for vol.1, like not even close...

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
