Writeblr intro:

Hey I’m sof! I’m 22 and I’ve scribbled down stories and bits of writing pretty much from the minute I could write. I’ve started and failed to finish multiple books since I first properly attempted it at about 10 years (very ambitious I know(I got about 3 chapters and and I still have it on my computer and it makes me cringe)). I had a short story published in a fifty word story challenge in primary school— so I’m technically published but not for anything quality or as an adult. Now I just write when I can around post grad work, I’m hoping I can get a more solid schedule for writing going soon. Right now I’m just kinda working with fragments of free time. I’m proud of myself bc I have actually stuck to a couple of ideas for a while and have first drafts of chapters I’m actually happy with now.

I’m currently working on three projects with a couple on the shelf to be returned to at later date. Everything is currently blessed with a shitty working title which I won’t share on here, mainly bc they’re pretty dumb and don’t reflect the works well. But I’m currently working on a couple fantasy projects. I tend to share practice bits from days when I’ve been too busy to actually sit down and write. I also post some poetry on here too which I often end up writing at like 3 in the morning. I’ve a couple collections I submitted for creative writing classes that I might queue up here.

I started this as a space to share photography a few years ago then I got busy with exams and since then I’ve kinda just reclaimed it as a creative dump space to share things I’ve worked on or WIPs. I’d love to connect with more people in here and find a cool circle of people to share work with. It feels kinda weird to refer to myself as a writer kinda gives me a sense of being an imposter because I don’t always feel like that.

Find the phrase tag game!

I was tagged by @inkvulture thank you! Also psst a bunch of us writeblrs are on discord if you're interested in joining our server. It's a great bunch! but no pressure

My phrase was, "why now?" which I don't have verbatim in Blue like don't forget about me so I went with, "Why is it so important to you?"

Teddy frowns up at him. “Why is it so important to you?”

Nash licks the rain from his lips. How can he explain? It makes sense in his head but he knows it’ll get all garbled and twisted around if he tries to speak it aloud.

It’s to carry Teddy beyond the limits that he’s always trying to overpower in the only way Nash can bring to fruition. But more than that, it’s to make up for it. It’s to make up for all the ways Nash isn’t good enough or quick enough or brave enough. It’s to make up for all the times Teddy has pushed closer, tested the boundary, only to be held at arm’s length, not because the desire isn’t there, but because Nash is too scared to take that leap with him.

And in the very back of his mind, there’s a tiny niggling hope that way up there, above [TOWN NAME], far and away from anyone who might take issue with it, maybe Teddy will push near again and he’ll have the courage to meet him.

He releases Teddy’s forearms, but Teddy grabs his wrist and steps closer, searching his face for answers.

“Why’s it important, Nash?”

He swallows. “It just is. I want to… I want to.”

Teddy stares up at him like he’s trying to pry what he’s not saying directly out of his brain. With each passing second, Nash becomes more aware of the way he’s soaked through to his skin, the way Teddy is too—hair plastered to his scalp, clothes wrinkled and clinging, his glasses opaque as the wind howls and spits rain like pellets of ice.

“Teddy! Nash!”

Teddy releases his wrist and together they turn toward the porch where Uncle Darren is waving them inside.
