Dave was walking slowly, staring down at the dusty ground as he strolled. He had sensed intelligence here, and that drawn him to explore.
Being on a different planet didn’t phase him much seeing as he was a Star Child. He didn’t need to breath, eat, or even sleep if he didn’t want to. He could search for another being all day if he pleased.
He didn't have to wait all day though, because another being soon found him.
"Hey, Space Cadet," came a woman's voice, "Might want to watch something besides your feet."
The alien-for that's definitely what she was-stood six feet tall, and she was built like a centaur, with an upright top half. Two arms ended in hands with five fingers a little longer than a humans. Metallic red armor covered her chest and torso, and matching gauntlets covered her forearms. A series of three connected gold metal bands encircled each of her upper arms. The head was basically a box with two pairs of camera eyes, one smaller pair between the other, mounted on a sort of mast-like neck.
Her lower half was a boxy chassis from which six limbs ending in wheels extended, and it was covered by an array of dark brown solar panels. There were some sort of instrument structures on her back in the midst of the solar panels, but one got the sense these were more vestigial than useful
She was one of only two of her kind who had a NASA logo on them (she wore it like a sort of tattoo).
And right now, all four of those intense looking camera eyes were locked on Dave, her arms crossed as she analyzed him.

i got another camera so i can see if anything is lurking around the chicken coop
the camera is essentially the same as the cat security cameras that i got before our winter holidays trip - very high resolution, 3x optical zoom, infrared as well (with illuminator) - but this one doesn't need mains power and instead has built-in rechargeable batteries plus a solar panel.
i took it down to the coop to test its network connection this evening
and stuck it on top of the fence post where it will likely live

it's upside down in the test - it's designed to be mounted under the eaves of a house roof - for a more permanent installation i'll make a bracket attached to this post that it can be mounted "under". it has a 360° swivel so the bracket needs to have minimal vertical structure necessary to keep it steady.

PLOT FORK: THE RANCH
So far, the Redwoodies have been diligent in their guerilla attacks against the Daybreakers, both at their Factory headquarters and in the surrounding areas. Their successes have led to a new result to account for: the Daybreakers are reconfiguring their own patrols and tactics, aware now that they're being targeted. As a seasoned and vicious scavenger group under the leadership of The General, they are capable of laying siege to Redwood that the town would be hard-pressed to withstand.
The major advantage that Redwood has, right now, is that the Daybreakers are aware of the town but have been kept too distracted to locate it. Zack Astor and Ike Apatow have devised a plan to give Redwood more time to shore up defenses: a decoy town, located at a ranch some distance from Redwood, intended to draw the Daybreakers into itself as a living slaughterhouse.

THE RANCH
A state-of-the-art 10-acre homesteader ranch before the zombie outbreak, it's fenced and most of its structures are somewhat compromised but still standing. The people moving there will have shelter and power once they get the solar panels connected again, but will have to do some fortification repair and construction to make it look like it's fully inhabited and to set traps and failsafes. [layout will be posted on discord in the plot drop channel ]
Everybody is always encouraged to help with town tasks (fortification, setting traps, potentially hunting/gathering, anything to make the town into the trap that it's meant to be), but each person also has a specific assignment to fulfill. Aside from that, Zack doesn't want anybody who isn't outside security/the raiders working outside town jobs.

Leigh - emergency horse-mounted messenger in case something goes wrong or they need to communicate with Redwood in general)

There's room for movement in the broader tasks, and people can be switched out if necessary, but for now this is the starting group at The Ranch. Just like with the Daybreakers threads, there's a discord channel for ranch threads!
While Zack is handling operations at The Ranch, Ike will be continuing fortification at Redwood. People who aren't accustomed to leaving the town won't be allowed out anymore -- all outside excursions are strictly controlled now. Everyone will be expected to take turns on watchtower duty and the radios will need to be monitored 24/7. These tasks have had good progress completed but are ongoing, and more will be listed in the Daybreaker plotting channel:

Mike and his partner bought an unrenovated house on a leafy Mt Colah street 10 years ago. Their garden starts on the verge with edibles, and the front yard is a thriving ‘no dig’ food forest. There’s another obvious sign that there’s something interesting going on here - a community swap stall with seeds, plants and books all enclosed in a big, old red phone box. 
Mike says he’s met more of my neighbours in the last month, than in seven years!
Mike’s aim is to improve livability while caring for the planet. Mike renovated the original house to increase its energy efficiency, with solar water and solar electricity. He’s built a hardwood pergola down the west side of the house which hosts a grapevine that shades the house in summer. It’s the first of many clever structural innovations he has installed in his garden using mostly recycled materials.
Compost System:
The three-bay compost system is built from recycled roof sheets and brick pallets. Liquid from the back of the bays runs and into a well-positioned bucket. Like all the compost, this liquid is then diluted and used on the garden.
Chook House:
The chook house is palatial and has been built using leftovers from the renovation. It’s both vermin and fox proof, and he used the old front door as the human entrance.
Irrigation:
Rainwater is captured across the site, stored and cleverly distributed. Mike has four tanks positioned around the garden that collectively hold 27,000 litres of water. The garden is irrigated via overhead driplines and tank overflows are redirected to garden beds. Storm water from the driveway is redirected into a set of pipes that are re-directed into the garden.
The entire back lawn was dug up to create swales (a series of contoured ditches) designed to slow down water flow and hold it in the soil.
There’s was a rocky outcrop in the backyard where water naturally collected into a pond. Mike has since bricked in the pond, added a bathtub for an outdoor pool for the kids and then found a bathroom basin which he turned into a bird bath.
Wicking Beds:
Mike has made wicking beds from second hand bulk containers. One is used as a liquid fertiliser brewer and the other four have been chopped in half to make 8 wicking beds. The sides of the wicking beds are protected from the sun with recycled zinc aluminium panels take from a roof. The wicking beds are placed in an ‘exclusion zone’, that has been covered with netting to prevent fruit fly, possums and rats making off with the produce.
For Mike, the journey of the garden is infinitely more important than the destination. He’s learnt a lot on the way and is keen to keep learning. It’s inspiring to see what can be achieved in such a short space of time and what will follow, as Mike’s sustainable gardening journey continues to grow.

Since we are transitioning from land to water, we are experiencing a significant change in our lifestyle. People will have a completely fresh and distinct experience because we don't generally live on water, despite the fact that we are surrounded by it. Metamorphosis — my concept – explains this shift in lifestyle. 
The pod is designed to provide the best possible underwater experience; therefore, the bedrooms are situated in the basement level and with large view ports. A lounge with an indoor sports area is also located in the basement. Furthermore, the utility and storage areas are located in the basement.
 A lovely front yard with a wooden deck and a double height curtain wall living space with kitchen & dining for optimal view of the surroundings are included at sea level. When privacy is required, blinds are utilized. The living space has a mechanically openable atrium as well as a tree that helps to ventilate the space. The spaces are segregated for better ventilation.
 An outdoor terrace with a BBQ area and a guest room are located on the first level. Both the spaces can be accessed with two separate open riser stairs. 
 The green roof is the key design element that gives the structure its overall shape. It is critical for long-term sustainability since the roof collects rainwater and reduces heat gain by the grass layer. To store solar energy, solar panels are also mounted to the separate roof.
