I had a reel promoted to me on Instagram today about the (allegedly) hidden gem in Capri that is the chairlift. It's funny whenever something is designated a hidden gem and it feels like everyone very much knows about it but you've got to generate tourist interest somehow I guess! Anyway, most of the comments are people freaking out about it because it's literally a wee wooden seat with a lap bar and nothing else. No seatbelt, no harness. But having done this trip up and down the mountain April last year, I promise you that you will not fall out. There's this prevailing attitude that southern and eastern European countries in particular have lax/primitive safety standards (yeah, it's probably lowkey racist) but sometimes you have to remind yourself that some of this stuff has been operating for decades with relatively few, if any, major incidents. Yes, I felt uncomfortable when I was first pushed down into the chair (it comes up fast behind you, you have no choice) and I admit I cried a little as my ascent started because it really doesn't feel natural! There's no way out at that point and you just have to accept this is your life for the next 15-20 minutes.

But after a while there is something that I can only describe as a quiet peace that descends upon you. It's also weirdly lonely because you're sitting in an individual seat and you can't really speak to any of your party who might be in front or behind you. I couldn't ask for any reassurance. However, I don't regret pushing myself to do this. I stopped short of trusting myself to grip onto my phone though and it remained in my bag! All my photos on the chairlift were taken with my analogue camera, which had a handy neck strap meaning that I could keep hold of it without worrying it would suffer the same fate as my brother-in-law's €20 note, which floated in front of us before the wind whipped it away! (I've left these unedited to emphasise how much I was too scared to line up a shot properly so was just snapping away quickly...)

Tales of Twicity: Caltis Solaro

I'm back to tell you more about the Tales of Twicity 👀 And today I decided to start talking about my four main fantrolls, starting with Caltis Solaro !

Caltis is a jadeblood troll around 10 sweeps old (20 years old). He lives in town and work as a barista in a trendy coffee shop. He doesn't really like his job, but he at least have fun pissing off his boss. First he can seem kind of sassy, but he's actually really sweet. He's outgoing, likes hugging people a little too much, and, above all, he's an enormous dork. Caltis lives in town since he's 8 sweeps old (16 years old), and made a lot of friends there, but it seems he has a stronger bond with his friend Dendae, who I will be discussing in another post. Physically, Caltis is quite tall (1,80m) and a little buff too, and most people decribe him as hot. And he knows it. He also hides a dark past and a lot of emotional issues, but I will talk about it in details someday. To finish this post, here are some depictions of Caltis by myself!
