☄️ Headcanon about a fave char: ughhh it's so hard to not make this a mile long post but I'll pick one: Lore is basically Noonien in an android's body. Ego and all. And that's what the whole problem was. You give someone who is already full of themselves an objectively superior body and intellect of COURSE he's going to be incredibly egotistical about it. AI programmers know that their code is going to reflect themselves back. You get out what you put in.

As a result, Lore would have actually made a fantastic cyberneticist if he was allowed to continue living. And he would have loved dinosaurs like his old man too 🦖

It's objectively funny to think about Soongs just looking exactly the same for generations and why that is. A new one is born and it's Brent Spiner again.

My leading theories so far are:

All wives of Soong men also look like Brent Spiner

They're all clones (which, as I mentioned in a previous post, would explain why they're all a bit weird. Being a clone of a clone of a clone doesn't make you alright)

It's one guy wearing different hats trying to pretend he's not immortal

No because like... If you think about it.... Lore never even had a CHANCE to really live.

We don't know how long he was alive at the Soong lab before being shut down - but it can't have been more than a few years, right? We'll say a decade to be generous.

Then Data reactivates him..... And at this point Data has probably been alive a LOT longer already than Lore will ever get to live total. Data's roughly in his 30s(?) throughout TNG, I think.

So Lore, reactivated, has only lived maybe a decade compared to Data's multiple decades. Then Lore lives a few more slutty, chaotic years (we stan) before Data shuts him down for good.

Data lives another span of years before his death - so Data lives to about 40-50 in canon. Lore lived mayyyybe 20-25.

Who hasn't committed egregious criminal acts in their youth!? Lore never had a chance for rehabilitation or therapy or healing or repairs. He was just..... Deactivated. Again and again.

So of course when he wakes up in an old body, entangled with his perfect brother's matrix, of COURSE he's pissed off. Data wants to be old. He's earned this age.

Lore is a traumatized 30 year old in a geriatric android body cramped with, like, 6 other consciousnesses. Of course he's feral.

So I think it makes total sense that Data "surrenders." That's what a good brother would do. I've had everything and you have had nothing. Take what I am. Take this 2nd chance, I don't need it.
