Kahl’s Garrison and the Syndicates
I just had a thought the other day, how would Kahl and his camp react to the various Syndicates, and my brain churned this out. If you think your favorite group has been unfairly represented, feel free to say how you think it would go. ‘Cuz heavens knows my own preferences leaked through.
Arbiters of Hexis: They try coming to the camp, willing to show new ways of fighting and discipline for Kahl and his small group. He and his brothers have no such interest. It’s not that they don’t appreciate the effort, or the new shiny weapons (even if some of them look a bit fancy). It’s that their way didn’t win the war. It didn’t keep Veils off of their faces. The traditional way doesn’t work.
Cephalon Suda: Kahl isn’t sure what to make of the people in the purple jumpsuits, or the glowing cube it puts him in communication with. They talk a lot, like the flying robot that follows the Tenno. They ask after his Veilbreaker. He tries to explain it to them, how it was made. If more people can break veils, that’s good news to him.
The Perrin Sequence: Kahl doesn’t like the Corpus who show up. They give dirty looks to his brothers, both his fellow Grineer and the non-Corpus alike. He can Chipper mutter about how “the self-righteous bankers” have arrived. They talk to Olvar, trying to get him to join their faction. Olvar looks around the camp, before settling back onto his crates. “No thanks, but I think I’m where I need to be.” No one says anything when Horrek serves him an extra portion that night.
New Loka: When they arrive, they start telling the camp they need to pack up and leave. “You are defiling the sacred ground of Terra! Leave and find somewhere else to sully!” The clicking chorus of guns being cocked make the visitors decide to leave.
Red Veil: Kahl notices evidence of them before he actually sees them. Broken branches not made by a brother. Slashes in tree trunks. When he goes out to scout one day, a hand wraps around his neck, a dagger appearing over his face. “You are fascinating. There is much we could learn from you.” Slowly, he reaches for his belt, and primes a grenade. “Kahl has died once. Only made Kahl upset. You think you can make death stick?” The arm releases him, and as he spins, he sees nothing. Merely a voice from the shadows. “We shall meet again.”
Steel Meridian: Kahl hears the collective hush over the camp before he sees her. Of course he recognizes her. Cressa Tal is infamous amongst Grineer ranks, the traitor who fought against the Queens. She doesn’t make threats. Doesn’t even try to recruit them. She merely hands him a communicator, with instructions. “You ever need our help? Somebody trying to hit you, or you about to hit back? Let us know. We’re always ready for a fight.” Kahl smirks at her words, and the two grasp arms. Nothing else needs be said.
Considering how I would write interactions from the various open world factions (Ostron, Entrati, etc.). If that would be of interest, feel free to let me know!

Kahlptura was the best thing to happen to this game, you can't change my mind. Second best was the On Kahl air support.

“The cynicism that regards hero worship as comical is always shadowed by a sense of physical inferiority. Invariably, it is the man who believes himself to be physically lacking in heroic attributes who speaks mockingly of the hero.” - Yukio Mishima, ‘Sun & Steel’ (1968)

“Men are born for games. Nothing else. Every child knows that play is nobler than work. He knows too that the worth or merit of a game is not inherent in the game itself but rather in the value of that which is put at hazard. Games of chance require a wager to have meaning at all. Games of sport involve the skill and strength of the opponents and the humiliation of defeat and the pride of victory are in themselves sufficient stake because they inhere in the worth of the principals and define them. But trial of chance or trial of worth all games aspire to the condition of war for here that which is wagered swallows up game, player, all.” - Cormac McCarthy, ‘Blood Meridian, or, the Evening Redness in the West’ (1985)

Got my ass beat bad in empyrean tonight :(
On the bright side, though, since my crew's roles were different from what they usually were I got to hear some voice lines I hadn't heard before! It got me thinking about my crewmates' dynamics.
My crew includes Gallo, my Perrin Sequence back-up pilot and personal favorite, Avarke, my primary gunner from Suda, and Cabu, the Steel Meridian ship defender/engineer who I headcanon has to take basically every other mission off to go to therapy.
What's everyone else's railjack crew like? If you have a lich or a sister on board, how do you think your crew reacts? Any inter-faction spats?

today whilst relic farming i started thinking really deeply about darvo + the lore they started building up for him before they kinda tossed him aside + the way even the teeny tiny morsels of what they’ve given us about him and clem have such good foundations of really compelling characters that a lot really well into the narrative the game has taken a turn towards (despite the introduction of most of their content predating the main storyline by A Lot) + how they could be soooo so interesting if taken seriously. like you’ve got the son of the fucking corpus board chairman, COMPLETELY removing himself from the corpus in every capacity, explicitly stating he doesn’t give a fuck about any of that garbage and just wants to chill, and he’s just hanging out with some random defect lancer. our first encounter (and honestly really most prominent example) with characters disregarding the faction war we ever got to see, two guys from such wildly different backgrounds who somehow crossed paths and decided to become partners in crime and now they’re best friends too despite having next to nothing in common. and they’re just kinda like. there. you’ve got darvos complicated relationship with frohd and clems existence in general (as well as him apparently being considered enough of a threat that his execution cell was guarded by the goddamn grustrag three. haven’t forgotten about that. WHY was he in maximum security solitary confinement. he’s just one guy) being these like, just kinda half baked ideas that are never elaborated on despite being REALLY interesting and sorta running parallel with a lot of the stuff happening in the main storyline, but instead they’re just left out to collect dust and occasionally promote twitch prime and get shoved into shitty hetero romcom plots in our inbox for no reason and then forgotten about immediately after. there’s a lot of wasted potential and it annoys the fuck out of me. they could be so much more

I bet the types of mental illness in the warframe universe are like. The biodiversity of Madagascar but for brains. Im talking like. People getting split in the void or by proxy exposure. The things that go on with the grineer. The generational trauma from the orokin empire. Like. No wonder new loka is thriving its basically a doTERRA cult that worships titania

Lightyear: Avalonia
Hello. I made my first chapter of my first crossover ever Disney and Pixar movie between two LGBTQ animated films Lightyear and Strange World, and it's called "Lightyear: Avalonia". The plot centers around Buzz Lightyear and his Space Ranger Corps of Star Command who plan on a vacation trip to Avalonia as they meet the Clade family. But when Ethan thinks he's having a baby, he has a parasite inside his abdomen. Buzz and his team believe that they could find many ways to destroy the parasite.
(The scene opens with Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison and Darby Steel practicing at the shooting range until the timer buzzes.)
Buzz Lightyear: Time's up. Good work, everybody. So, how'd it go, Izzy?
Izzy Hawthorne: Absolutely incredible, Buzz.
Buzz Lightyear: Perfect. I think that's all from today.
Izzy Hawthorne: (stretches her arms) Mm. Man, am I beat from today.

To become a project manager at the end of times, a level of disregard to ideal working conditions was needed. James knew that all of ETS employees were bound by contract to work on the Machine. The facilities were borderline hellish- strict working hours, monitored activities- it'd be a miracle if anyone came out of it with their sanity intact. He knew that most of the unempowered employees knew nothing of the gravity of their work- all they knew was that it was an undisclosed research project. He tried bringing up more humane conditions to fellow stakeholders, only to be shut down because it was all necessary to maintain covert and order in the facility- not to mention that if any information about the meridian reached the empowered public due to their neglect- it'd only bring utter chaos and mass panic.
He splashed water on his face, trying to wash off the grime, sweat and the sticky, disgusting rage that seemed to stick to his body like a second skin. Anger at the gods of the demons that brought a catastrophic end to their world and making it everyone's responsibility. Frustration towards himself, for being a part of the elites that were busy sitting back on their asses than actually working and suffering for humanity's sake. James thought about his promise to his spouse. Let's build a family, a home together. He felt- Nothing. He steeled his expression to a public-ready, professional mask and exited the bathroom with a smile. Corporate, but serviceable.
