Not So Empty Nest (Super Sim Update)
With the revelation that the 3-level part-time careers don't count as "careers" for the children/grandchildren requirement of Stella's Successful Lineage aspiration, I figured the only way I'm getting one of the kids to the top of their career is if they move back in with the parents. Originally, I said I was going to do this with Cade, but when I loaded into the Bailey-Moon household to have Kinsley quit her job (because, c'mon, how embarrassing would it be for the wife of a B-lister to (a) work (b) as a barista?), I realized it made more sense - from a story prospective - for her to be the one to move home:
Kinsley and Orange had a very high romance bar, but their friendship bar really wasn't that high - I'm guessing it was probably at whatever the minimum is to propose/get married. Kinsley was also only 8 days into being a Young Adult, and already has an infant; I don't remember Orange's exact number of days, but I think he was pretty close to half-way through already. So I imagine: Kinsley, as a teen, is infatuated with the celebrity teen who happens to be friends with her older brother; they get together on a whim, because Kinsley is from a good (wealthy), drama-free family and would be a good mom... they get married like the second she becomes an adult, and immediately have the next generation of Bailey-Moon nepo baby. But Orange, at this point, has probably outgrown the fascination with impressing a young girl, who he doesn't even really know (low friendship bar), and who is having her own struggle with not really knowing how to be a mom, especially in a family like the Bailey-Moons. The perfect recipe for disaster and divorce, leading to Kinsley moving back home, without Preston (because (a) I'm not doing that and (b) you know the Bailey-Moons would go to whatever lengths to protect/control their heir. That doesn't mean we won't see him in the future, though).
Tumblr media
She's gonna miss that view, though.
I like to think that her poor experience isn't going to waste, though -- I put her in the Public Relations branch of the Social Media career (because she has no desire for fame or celebrity herself as an Internet Personality, after what she's been through - plus, you know the Bailey-Moons probably made her sign a nondisclosure agreement). She was able to start at level 3, and I think she's up to level 5 already. So she should max it out in no time.
Ever heard the (actually terrible) advice, "the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else"? Well, Kinsley has:
Tumblr media
Yes, yes, I did some cheaty stuff with aging - look, I had hoped Stella might get with Kyle at some point looong ago, but I never saw him or got a stayover pop-up from him. I actually thought maybe the game didn't populate him in this save or something... but he just appeared at the spa that Stella has been frequenting! So I cheated his age down to match Kinsley's, and had Stella introduce them. Is this a healthy relationship? Not likely, although Kyle did autonomously propose (sort of - it was a "found a ring in Kyle's bag" pop-up, which is super weird considering Kinsley lives in my household too), so I guess he's all in... or he sees this as a way to secure a really good (lucrative) future for himself. Poor Kinsley - her dad set an impossible standard for her to find a good man. (Although, we can't forget that Dexter was married to Jane when he met/started dating/proposed to Stella, so he's not so perfect.)
Now, an update on the actual Super Sim - grandchild #4 has arrived, and Stella has completed the Big Happy Family aspiration!
Tumblr media
Meet Matthew Townsend, son of Cade and Luna and brother to Sawyer. You might be asking yourself, why are they being introduced on the beach in Windenburg? Good question. An even better question is, why does the game drop infants waaaaaaay far away from the home lot when you load in?
Tumblr media
Anyway, I haven't accomplished much else with Stella. The Spa Day aspirations are hard! I did finish the Zen Guru one, but the other two are going to take forever... earning 5,000 simoleons when half the time the yoga/meditation class glitches and I can't even get her tend a massage table/chair. Ugh. I have a feeling I might end up cheating them done, just to be done with them because it's going to be so repetitive.

Note
This is probably not going to get anyone due to source obscurity but I might as well try.
I'm Lloyd Lowell from Torture Tower Doesn't Sleep, and I’m looking for anyone, but mainly Raymond Atwood, Benji Kemp and Stella Townsend. We saw each other as foster siblings. Some little details is that Benji could play the violin, Raymond always referred to me as “Mr Lloyd” or “big brother”, and all four of us were on the ace spectrum.
My death happened slightly differently, as it took place a day after the events of my canon death, and was a botched execution which also led to Raymond’s death.
I’m a minor though willing to interact with adults. Please reach out to me at @vesselsofsin or like the post if this sounds familiar at all. I’m also looking for anyone else from Lion City or my biological family.
I’m looking to avoid any doubles, should they be out there, and I am very hesitant to speak to the three sisters (especially Rack).

Okay, so lots of people wanted this and so, I am compiling a list of my favourite books (both fiction and non-fiction), books that I recommend you read as soon as humanly possible. In the meantime, I’ll be pinning this post to the top of my blog (once I work out how to do that lmao) so it will be accessible for old and new followers. I’m going to order this list thematically, I think, just to keep everything tidy and orderly. Of course, a lot of this list will consist of historical fiction and historical non-fiction because that’s what I read primarily and thus, that’s where my bias is, but I promise to try and spice it up just a little bit.

#SadNews Suzzanne Douglas who played in some pivotal roles in the 90’s including starring opposite Robert Townsend in his hit show ‘The Parent Hood’ and movies ‘Tap,’ ‘Jason’s Lyric’ and ‘Stella Got Her Groove Back,’ has passed, according to several news outlets. Most recently the venerable actress played in Netflix’s, ‘When They See Us.’ The former child actress Reagan Gomez who played Douglas’ daughter Zaria Peterson in The Parent Hood sitcom tweeted out pictures of the two together, seemingly confirming Douglas’ death. The news broke on July 6 and made its way around the internet. Douglas’ cousin named Angie Tee wrote: “A beautiful and talented actress made her transition today. She warmed our hearts on movie screens and television sets all over the world. This beautiful soul was my cousin. She continued: “I can remember growing up, there weren’t very many Black actresses who had starring roles but there was my cousin with the lead role in Tap starring alongside great dancers such as Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. She also performed with Angela Bassett and Whoopi Goldberg in How Stella Got Her Groove Back. The Inkwell, Jason’s Lyric and so much more the list goes on. The world will miss your talent but your soul will live on forever Rest in Paradise my beautiful cousin Suzzane you will be missed RIP.” Celebrities quickly started to give Douglas her flowers and send condolences online. Actress Jada Pinkett Smith who worked with Douglas in “The Inkwell,” remembered her “gentle” spirit. https://www.blackenterprise.com/the-parenthood-actress-suzzanne-douglas-dead-at-64-twitter-reacts-with-condolences/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CRBz8ePD2SO/?utm_medium=tumblr

Super Sim: Get Hitched ✓
Tumblr media
Well, I did it. Stella married Dexter after all.
But first, she had to invite Dexter and his wife (Jane) over to her house and tell Dexter he should get a divorce, then act surprised as he breaks up with his wife right in front of her. (I tried trash-talking each of them to the other, but neither wanted to end it. I then tried having Stella tell Dexter privately that he should divorce his wife, and he said he would do it "tonight," and then didn't freaking do it. The only way to succeed was to have both parties on the same lot - and it didn't seem right to barge into their house, in front of their child, you know?)
The best -- and by "best," I mean weirdest, most welcome-to-the-Sims -- part about the situation is that Jane is still good friends with Stella. In fact, she just got a new job in the Astronaut career, thanks to Stella's advice.
Anyway, Dexter moved in with Stella immediately, and I got to thinking that a new house was going to be needed soon, because I've finally completed all the base game aspirations except the family ones. And the Paranormal Stuff Pack house Stella was living in (alone and briefly with her friend, Aoi) wasn't really conducive to raising a family. So when Dexter left for work one day, I bulldozed it and placed a lovely build from the Gallery called "New Orleans Home" on our existing lot in Newcrest. I nearly completely redecorated it; there is one room upstairs that's completely empty, since I don't need it right now.
And then it was time to get hitched.
Tumblr media
Here's a not-great screenshot of the wedding cake Stella made in her brand-new kitchen. I think the Winter Cake is so pretty, and one of the fancier cakes one can make without My Wedding Stories.
Some time ago, took the building from the Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek and made it into a very small wedding venue in Magnolia Promenade (lol).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the perfect location for this ceremony - just Stella and Dexter, Aoi and Nick (don't worry, I made sure to ask him to just be friends first, so he wouldn't be mad/sobbing at the wedding!), cousin India, and Dexter's daughter, Emma (who, somehow, escaped all of the pictures).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I haven't taken any pictures since the wedding, so all I'll say is, I've already gotten started on the family aspiration(s) - Stella and Dexter now have a son, Cade Townsend.
(I will also say, I'm going to do the Parenthood aspiration now, too; I'm not having any more children in this game than I absolutely have to (hello, Vampires, anyone? I have to train FIVE offspring??)).
To update my career progress, Stella is currently level 6 in the Athlete career (Professional Athlete branch, and she hasn't done the Bodybuilder branch yet). The remaining careers are: Secret Agent, Barista, and Manual Labor. She has completed all the base game skills (a whiiiile ago), and is currently level 7 Parenting (since I'm doing that Aspiration now, too). Getting there!
I'm looking forward to finishing the base game stuff, so I can move on to more "interesting" jobs and skills!
