Text
Hello friends, just a reminder that we will be reblogging any Stonegrot Week posts until October 3rd. We know creativity takes some time and we’re always excited for content.
the themes for Stonegrot Week (Year 3!) were:
September 20th — Day One: Kiss The Girl. Rian initiates a kiss with Deet. It could be their first kiss or their millionth, it’s up to you.
September 21st— Day Two: Afternoon Delight. Rian and Deet share a perfect afternoon together.
September 22nd— Day Three: The Night Before. Something special takes place one night between Rian and Deet. It could be a conversation or maybe an intimate moment. The plot is up to you.
September 23rd— Day Four: The Morning After. A follow up to Day Three’s events. What happens between Rian and Deet after The Night Before? *If you didn’t participate in Day Three, that’s okay, create something you believe would take place between Rian and Deet spending a morning together. The plot is up to you.
September 24th— Day Five: Yesterday’s Feeling. This could be a follow up to Day Four’s events, or a headcanon during an Age of Resistance episode. What were Rian and Deet feeling for one another? The plot is up to you.
September 25th— Day Six: Tomorrow’s Promise. Rian and Deet make a promise to each other. Maybe about their future together? maybe about loving and protecting each other against the Skeksis? What will it be?
September 26th— Day Seven: The Future. Create a headcanon for what you think Rian and Deet’s future looks like.
Make sure you include the tags #Stonegrot and either #Stonegrot Week #StonegrotWeek and #Day (x). You can also add @stonegrotweek to your post(s) so we can see and reblog.

Stonegrot Week Day 7: An original concept! I decided to write something this time! I haven’t written fanfic in so many years, but this idea interested me!
Confession
Rian paced nervously, weaving around trees and branches. It was just before dawn, and the Brothers were starting to peak over the distant mountaintops, casting a shimmering glow through the forest. Around twenty paces away, the rest of the Resistance were sound asleep. Rian was keeping watch, though he’d hardly have slept anyway. For the last several days he’d been restless.
Since first meeting her, Rian had been slowly falling in love with Deet. At first he felt rattled by guilt. Losing Mira, his first love, had been a crushing blow. It felt wrong somehow to love another gelfling in the same way. He often wondered if he was giving her a proper mourning, or if he was allowed to grieve for Mira and grow close to Deet at the same time.
As time went on, he didn’t have a choice in the matter. Loving Deet was something that simply happened, like opening his eyes in the morning. When memories of Mira’s death haunted him in the night, Deet was the one who heard his muffled sobs and crawled to his side to give comfort. When the Resistance was ambushed by rabid creatures, sick with the Darkening, Deet was the one Rian instinctively leapt in front of to protect. It seemed no matter the setting, the two of them would unconsciously group off together to joke amongst themselves and tell stories about their childhoods. They had learned each other by heart.
When Rian looked at Deet, his heart ached with longing to hold her close to him, but something always stopped him. Every time he opened his mouth to reveal his feelings, the fear of rejection seemed to choke him. “What if she loves Brea?” he’d wonder, “Who am I to think she’d want me when she could have a princess?”
Three near sleepless nights made it abundantly clear to Rian that he had to put an end to his wondering. He would tell Deet how he felt tonight. He only had to figure out how.
“Deet,” he whispered to himself, still pacing, “Would you.... I mean, do you see me as a friend? Or do you see Brea as a friend?” He shuddered. “No. I mean. Do you - Do you feel in love with Brea?” He kicked one of the trees in frustration. “Deet, do you think you could possibly be as in love with me as I am with you? Or do you like someone else? I understand if Gurjin is more your type, but I really like-“
“Who are you talking to?”
Red-faced, Rian whirled around to face Deet. She shivered lightly in the cool morning air. The suns cast little rainbow shimmers across her delicate wings.
“No one!” said Rian. “You’re awake early.”
“You’re awake earlier,” she said, smiling. She stepped closer to Rian and lightly leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder. He melted. A silence hung in the air while he gathered his courage.
“Deet, I want to tell you something, but I’m afraid.”
Deet looked up with wide eyes. “You can tell me anything,” she said, a flicker of concern in her voice.
Rian’s arms hung awkwardly at his sides, afraid to wrap them around Deet at such a vulnerable moment. “I’m worried, though,” he said, “because this could affect our friendship. And it would break my heart to not be as close to you.”
Deet shifted nervously. “I don’t think anything will make me stop wanting to be close to you... but I am a bit worried now. Did something bad happen?”
Rian shook his head. Softly, he took Deet’s hand in both of his, careful not to slip into a dreamfast. “I love you, Deet,” he said. “I don’t know if you feel the same, but I need you to know that I love you. The way lovers do.”
For a moment, Deet stared blankly. Then a smile crept upon her face, which turned into a laugh, which turned into a fit of laughter that left her gasping for air.
Rian’s heart sank like a cold stone. He forced a laugh. “I’m only joking, of course.”
Deet threw her arms around him. “Oh, Rian!” she laughed. He melted into her embrace, completely baffled, heart fluttering. Deet pulled away just enough to lock eyes with Rian. Her dark eyes sparkled with laughter and affection. “Are we not lovers already?” She cried. “I was under the impression that we have been courting for weeks now! I thought perhaps in Stonewood culture it was left unspoken— Rian, of course I love you! I hardly ever leave your side!”
She was right. Rian was laughing too, now. Tenderly, he cupped Deet’s face with his hands and kissed her. It felt like a sigh of relief, as if he’d been holding his breath for weeks without exhale. Deet was shining. “So, Deethra,” Rian asked, “May I call you my lover, then?”
“It took you long enough to ask!” Deet giggled. “Of course you can! If I can go wake Brea and tell her the news!”

Stonegrot Week Day 7
@stonegrotweek
Title: Glow Spirit
Prompt: Original Concept
Day 1. Day 3. Day 4. Day 7.
[-]
Day 7:
Glow Spirit
Rian looked down at his glowing blue drink. He heard tales of Grotton glow spirit. It was made from herbs and flowers found down here in the caves. To the Grottons, it was supposed to taste smooth and refreshing. It would have no more effect on them than Spriton berry wine. To everyone else, well… rumor was, a non-Grotton’s night on glow spirit will end with them chewing their own face.
But, it was Mitjan’s birthday. Ever since Deet came of age, it was their tradition to stay up after Bobb’N went to bed and share a drink. This was the first special occasion Rian spent with Deet’s family. He wanted to do it right. Besides, one drink couldn’t be so bad, could it?
“It’s alright,” Deet said, putting a hand on his shoulder. “You don’t have to try it if you don’t want to.”
Ah, so he wasn’t hiding his apprehension as well as he thought. His mind went back to all the times he and Gurjin joked about glow spirit over a few brews. I heard the ranchers use it to burn tics off the landstriders. No, I heard it’s used to strip paint off carriages. I know a guy who spilled it once and it melted a hole in the table. Neither of them had actually tried it before, but they knew it by reputation and they often claimed, one day, they would.
For Rian, that day was today.
“It’s really alright,” Mitjan insisted. “We know glow spirit doesn’t go down easy for gelfling who aren’t Grotton.”
“No, please, this is your tradition. I want to participate in everything you usually do. So…” Rian lifted his cup and the others did the same. “Happy birthday, Mitjan. I wish you another good year with your lovely family. Vliya!”
“Vliya!” they repeated and clinked their glasses.
Deet and her family took a drink while Rian eased himself into it. Small sips, he told himself. Small sips, just like Drenchen moonshine.
He lifted the glass to his lips. The immediate tingling sensation was his first clue this was going to be bad. He took a sip and swallowed anyway. It burned the whole way down. He felt his face getting hot and a stinging sensation in his nose. His whole body felt like it was dissolving from the inside out. And yet, his only coherent thought was don’t be rude.
In an effort to force down a disgusted gag, he kept his mouth shut tight. He twisted his lips together and focused on keeping his eyeballs from popping out of his head while Deet and her fathers discussed the drink’s “subtle undertones” and “smooth finish.”
“Doing alright, Rian?” Lath’N asked, a laugh in his voice.
Opening his mouth took great effort. “I’m fine,” he squeaked.
“oh, sweetie…” Deet got up and kissed the top of his head. “I’ll go get you some water.”
“Great,” Rian squeaked again. He folded his arms on the table and rested his head in them. His compulsion to be polite was gone. He was too preoccupied with fighting the urge to bite off his own tongue.
Deet, miracle that she was, brought over the whole pitcher and set a cup of water down beside him. He thanked her profusely and drank it with the vigor of someone who’s been lost in the Crystal Desert for weeks.
“I’m sorry our glow spirit didn’t agree with you, Rian,” Mitjan said. “Although, we did try to warn you.”
“Admittedly not very hard,” Lath’N added, chuckling.
“Well, at least now I know,” Rian said, pouring himself another cup of water.
Deet rubbed his back. “Are you feeling better?”
He offered her a soft smile. She truly was a walking miracle. He would kiss her if he weren’t so worried he’d transfer the sting on his lips to hers. “Yes, it’s just pain. It’ll go away.” He turned his head back to Mitjan. “I hope I didn’t ruin your birthday drink too much.”
“Not at all.” Mitjan grinned. “If anything, you made it better. Although, it’s perfectly fine if you toast with water next trine.”
“Next trine?” He wasn’t sure if it was the aftereffects of the glow spirit or Mitjan’s kind words, but a warmth rose in his chest. They already assumed he’d still being her next trine. They saw no end to his time with Deet. These kind people welcomed him into their home and even their family. They trusted the strength of his love and, coming from two gelfling who’s marriage still glowed with adoration, it meant a lot.
He took Deet’s hand. She smiled so sweetly at him. The burning was gone. Only warmth remained. “Alright then, next trine.”

Stonegrot Week Day 7 - The Future
Last year, I did some fluff for @stonegrotweek ... Now, time for sadness! We all know how things will end for our beloved Gelfling friends...
“Two attempts to save the Crystal. One too soon, a life lost in both.”
I always thought that if season two happens in a way or another, Rian would not witness someone he loves dying...again! It would be his turn to lose his life saving a loved one and of course, it would be for his precious Deet. In her vision, we can see Rian trying to restore the Crystal but it doesn’t work. Certainly because it’s not the Great Conjunction yet? In my theory, that attempt makes the Crystal save Deet from the Darkening consuming her, but Rian is very soon circled by the Skeksis and Deet can’t save him...
...Like what happens to Jen and Kira in the end of the movie. Their existence parallels Rian, Deet and the rest of the resistance. Jen is maybe a Stonegrot son, or Kira, but one thing is for sure: they are the hope that couldn’t exist without them, without their love for each other and for Thra. A love that ended up saving the Gelfling race.

@stonegrotweek day 7: the future
The last day of stonegrot week is today and I'm sad. This is a no garthim wars AU, where the gelfling didn't die and everyone lived happily ever after.
In this timeline Rian and Deet end up having four kids, two girls and two boys their names go from right to left:
Ordon, their third child who is two trine old in this picture.
Jen, the oldest and is around 12 trine old in this picture.
Aya, their second child and is 10 trine old in this picture.
And finally Hope, the youngest and she is around 7 unums old in this picture.
I had a whole lot of fun with stonegrot week and can't wait for the next stonegrot week! Happy shipping 😘

stonegrot week day 7: the future
heyo, friends. breaking my accidental hiatus to actually participate in @stonegrotweek for once!
for the record, this is set in my strange trails “good timeline” sequel? you might be missing some context if you haven’t read the behemoth that is strange trails. you might be missing some context even if you have read it. that’s fine.
I wrote most of this earlier this summer, but spent some time editing & tweaking this weekend. please note: it is still very much a rough draft, but I have miles to go before I can actually post any sequel stuff on ao3 so that’s okay. I just wanted to share something for the event.
WARNINGS: some light sexytimes (there is actually a steamier version that will live in my google docs forever). also, mentions of childbirth (not at all graphic).
anyway, on that note, here you go. a little glimpse into a stonegrot future, in approximately 1500 words.
-+-
Jen turns three, and a storm tears the sky in two. Deet watches the sky growing dark, shivers when the lightning flashes and the winds howl. Rian knows she’s weathered storms before, in this life, and in another. She’s lived, and she’s loved, and she’s lost. This time, though, in this storm— she breaks.
“Tell me what to do,” Rian pleads, holding her hands tight, trying to hold her steady, to hold her to this moment, to this life, to him. He’s seen her scared, he’s seen her lost and distant, but he’s never seen her so desperate, and he’s afraid. “I’ll do anything, Deet, I swear it. Just tell me what you need.”
“I need--” Deet breaks off, her breaths gasping, her eyes wild. She’s clinging right back, clinging to him, and he takes comfort from that. “I need to know it’s different this time. I need to know this is real. I need to feel it.”
“This is real,” Rian swears, pressing his forehead to hers, hoping his gestures might match his words, but feeling like both must be meaningless. “We’re real, Deet. You’re real.”
Deet pulls back and looks up at him, close enough that their breaths intermingle. One hand comes up to cup his neck, and she runs her thumb along his jawline-- the other drops down to his belt, and then traces lower. She holds his gaze and says, “Show me.”
Rian denied her once, long trine past, and he vowed then to never do it again. He blows out the candles, and lets Deet lead him to their bed. He helps her out of her dress, and then everything else. She returns the favor and then pulls him down with her, capturing his lips in a kiss that’s as sweet as it is desperate.
They don’t speak. Rian tries to prove with touch what his words cannot say-- that she is precious, that he is devoted. He loses himself in the moment, in her, and lets the rest of it fall away.
-+-
The storms come again, later that summer. If Rian didn’t know better he’d think they were still down in the Sog, battening down the hatches and weathering another monsoon. Winds howl and branches break, rain pounds against the roof of their home, lightning splits the sky as thunder rumbles in the distance.
Deet is silent for three days, jumping at every noise, staring blankly out the windows when she can’t keep busy enough for her mind to be still. On the third day, she puts Jen down for his afternoon nap, and walks straight out into the rain. Rian catches up before she’s made it off the porch, and tangles their fingers together, squeezing her hand tight.
“Hey,” he says, trying to calm the thunder in his own chest, his hammering heart. It isn’t fair, he thinks. It isn’t fair that they unraveled the world where he left her, but she still sees those ghosts. “It’s alright, Deet. I’m here, remember? I’m here.”
Deet opens her mouth, but her words are still trapped, still lost. She squeezes his hand back, and he lets himself relax, if only a fraction. Then she shifts her grip until she’s holding his wrist, and presses his hand to her stomach, holds it there. There’s no sign yet of the new life inside her, just a voice in the back of his mind that whispers three. Rian swallows, and Deet tries to catch his eye.
For a moment, his words are trapped too. He wraps his arms around her instead, pulling her into an embrace, and wishing he never had to let go.
-+-
“Let me get this straight,” Naia says, dropping her voice low-- so the others can’t hear them in the other room, and so Rian will hear her frustration. “Deet suffered a breakdown, the worst you’ve ever seen-- and your solution was to get her pregnant again?”
“That is--” Rian shoots a nervous glance out the door towards the others-- specifically watching for the flick of Grottan ears. So far so good, he thinks, as their friends chatter around Deet and her swollen belly. She’d put off telling them until this trip-- Rian thinks she might have put it off longer, if she wasn’t already halfway through her pregnancy and very visibly showing. He wonders if she was trying to save them both from exactly this sort of conversation.
He clears his throat and tries again. “That’s not exactly how it happened. She wanted another childling.” He thinks of that night, of Deet pulling him back towards her, her voice husky and her eyes on him, and only him, as she asked him to stay. “This was her idea.”
Naia stares at him, hard, for the span of several seconds. She’s clearly still frustrated, but she’s looking for a new target. “You should have come down sooner,” she finally settles on, nodding a little to herself as she sinks into the argument, like a comfortable pair of boots. “I could have been checking up on them both.”
“They’ve been alright, Naia. Everything’s been fine.” Rian pauses, and sees something unfamiliar in Naia’s eyes, a level of concern he hasn’t seen often. “What’s the matter? Why are you taking this so hard?”
“I’m not,” Naia snaps, and just like that her eyes narrow and her brow furrows. “You’re my friends, Rian. I want Deet to be well. I want your childling to be well. And I want the two of you to be happy.” She still looks cross, but there’s an honesty there that he appreciates. “Would you fault me for that?”
“Of course not.” Rian can’t quite help it, he pulls Naia into a brief hug, and graciously she lets him. Once he’s pulled away, he clears his throat and asks, “For what it’s worth, Deet’s going to ask you to help her again, when the baby comes. You’re the only one she trusts.” Naia’s eyes flicker again, with that same sad expression. For a split second Rian almost, almost understands why, and just as quickly, that understanding is gone. “If you’re up for it,” he adds, a little uneasy.
“I’ll be there,” Naia promises, her voice soft, her eyes still sad. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
-+-
“No, she’s right….here!” Deet says, guiding Jen’s chubby handprint to her side, her tired smile growing wide as his face lights up with delight. “Can you feel that?”
“She kicked me!” Jen’s practically vibrating with excitement. With just a few weeks left, Rian can see the ripples of movement in the taut skin of Deet’s round, heavy belly as their childling moves within her, apparently feeling Jen’s presence, and making her own known. Jen gasps, his eyes going even wider. “Again!”
“She’s saying hello,” Deet tells him, glancing over their son’s head to lock eyes with Rian. Her smile is warm, and just for him. She turns back to Jen, and reaches out to ruffle his hair. “She’s excited to meet you.”
“Are you ready to be a big brother?” Rian asks, flashing a grin of his own as Jen scrambles for the fair-haired little doll Deet made. He holds her carefully, just the way they showed him. Deet lets out a soft chuckle, and Rian leans in to press three kisses-- one to the top of Jen’s head, one to Deet’s lips, and one to her belly. His family, right where he wants him-- close enough for him to reach out and hold them tight.
-+-
“Why was that harder?” Deet asks, winded and breathless and a little delirious, even as Naia lays the infant on her chest. “I’d already done it once, shouldn’t it be-- oh. Hello, baby.” Her tone changes in an instant, complaint and confusion falling away as she smooths a hand across wispy hair, blonde streaked with blue. The baby blinks up at them with deep brown eyes. She has Rian’s olive skin and teal streaked across her brow. She’s beautiful, and she’s quiet. “Why isn’t she crying?”
“Just give her a minute.” Naia has a towel in hand, rubbing at the baby’s back vigorously. “She’s had a big day.” She helps Deet sit the baby up, and rubs a little more, until the little one lets out a watery cough, and starts to wail. It’s the best sound Rian has ever heard. Deet lets out a sigh of relief, and Naia grins at all three of them. “See? All is well.”
-+-
They name her Shoni. She doesn’t look much like his mother, but it still feels right, somehow, to pass on that name, to let it live on through his daughter. She’s perfect, from her long, dark lashes to each and every finger and toe, and she and Deet are both perfectly healthy. It feels like a miracle.
“Thank you,” Deet breathes, in the quiet of their room, with their childling nursing at her breast, and snow piling up outside their window. “Thank you, for reminding me.”
Rian doesn’t speak. He doesn’t have to. He just winds an arm around Deet’s shoulder, holding his girls close. Outside, the wind howls as the storm picks up, but for once Deet doesn’t shiver. She just sinks into him, her breathing calm and even. Rian knows that the struggle isn’t over, knows that more storms will come, that the two of them will bend, and may break. But for now, he presses a kiss to her hair, gentle, and grounding, and Deet closes her eyes, and rests.

September 26th—
It’s officially Day 7 of Stonegrot Week! Today’s theme is ‘The Future’. We’re looking forward to seeing your submissions!
It is the last day of Stonegrot Week (Year 3!) and we’ve had such a wonderful time seeing all the phenomenal creations from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance fandom. Thank you to everyone who participated, whether you have created a piece for the week or if you’ve been supporting the fans by reblogging/liking their posts. It means a lot to us and to The Dark Crystal fandom as a whole that we still care so deeply about these characters and its fictional universe. The celebration still continues as we will still be accepting late submissions after today until next week, October 3rd. Be sure to continue following this page… there may be a Stonegrot Week (Year 4!) in the future.

September 6th — Day Seven: An Original Concept involving Rian and Deet.
I thought genderbending would be fun to try. Turns out Gelfling are so androgynous that I literally only changed like 3 things about them to make Deen and Riane 😂

Royalmelody Week Day 7: AU
I have a collage AU in mind for months, and Kylan absolutely owns the mullet.
Tumblr media
"Brea?"
"Yeah?"
"Love, don't look now but, are those Rian and Deet kissing behind the bushes?"
"I'm telling you, there's no way our plan worked- OH MY GOD, THEY ARE-!"
--
a bit of context: Brea and Kylan try matchmaking Stonegrot and they aren't sure if it worked- oop, it seems it did. :)
--
P.s I'm sorry I forgot how to draw humans and not so confident about this AU lol. This is just a fragment of the whole au. Also, this is probably not the only AU I will be sharing. :D

Drenchgrot Week 2020!!
Hello!!
For the people who expressed interest: @orange-yarn @theworldofthedarkcrystal @thethirdstageofdeath @assembleallrats @rocky-fennek @vivigthefizzgig @tabicfox @sundaebae
Since the recent Stonegrot week I felt inspired to create my a ship week in honour of one of the most underrated canon ships within this franchise, Naia x Amri, or as commonly known as Drenchgrot!!
The event will start on Friday, September 25th, and finish on October 1st and you guys, like Stonegrot week can submit fanfiction, art, headcanons or anything related to the seven different themes. We’re also following the same guidelines as Stonegrot week, as we don’t want to see any content nor we’re going accept the submissions of the following...
- NSFW
You can do this in your free time, but not within this event please
- Gore
On one of the themes is kinda unavoidable (but it’s totally optional), but please keep the gore to a minimum and please put on a trigger warning!!
- Pedophilia
- Nonconsensual content, etc...
Also ANY FORMS OF BULLYING IS NOT TOLERATED!!!
Overall, everyone’s allowed to participate even if it’s for the whole week for just one day everyone is welcome to join. Just make sure that everything that you’re going to submit is new content please!! Also when you’re posting please use the hashtag #drenchgrotweek and tag this very blog. One more thing, please post your content on the appropriate days or day or two after after because we don’t want spoil the future days for anyone!! And you can start preparing for the days, but just don’t post until the week has started!!
Okay so the thing you’ve all been waiting for, the themes!!! Also, thank you @orange-yarn and @thethirdstageofdeath for helping me with coming up with ideas!! I really appreciate the help!!
DAY 1 (September 25th) --- Soft Talk
Kinda continuing from Flames, explore on what their soft talk would be like :))
DAY 2 (September 26th) --- Family
this could be either be interacting with Naia’s and/ or Amri’s family. Or just simply their own little family with a child (or children :0) of their own
DAY 3 (September 27th) --- Healing
This is the day where, if you really wanted to, you could slightly break the gore rule. But make sure you add tw!!
DAY 4 (September 28th) --- Traditions
This is the one I’m the most excited about. I’m just excited to see what you guy come up with is one!!
If it helps, it’s canon that the drenchen are based of Polynesian cultures :)
DAY 5 (September 29th) --- Within arms reach (holding each other’s hands)
what can I say, they just like holding hands
DAY 6 (September 30th) --- Time to themselves
Pretty self explanatory, but remember to keep it sfw
DAY 7 (October 1st) --- AU time!!
This is at your own free will!!
modern, human, band, dance, etc the world is yours!!
Also, with the days don’t be afraid to add characters involved, but as only Naia and Amri are the main focus :)
One last thing before I go, HAVE FUN!!!
If you have any questions about the event, don’t be afraid to dm me here or at @raddestcowboy
