Aug ABSOLUTELY deserves the praise, @ryukikit. St. Augustine Alligator Farm is one of my favorite animal facilities, hands down. It's a pretty zoo, doable in an afternoon if you kinda like crocodilians, or an all day affair if you REALLY like crocodilians. Here are my favorite things about it and why I think it's worth supporting.
1. They keep animals in interesting social groups.
Tumblr media
Crocodilians are heavily involved parents, but most places that breed them don't have the enclosure space to let the babies stay with the parents. St. Augustine does. One of my favorite groups was their crèche of slender-snouted crocodiles. They had the parents and then a yearling cohort and a new hatchling cohort. This aligns with how these guys live in the wild- the babies stick around longer! They have the space for it, and they are very in tune with the social needs of their animals.
Very, very few zoos can keep their baby crocs with the adults and still perform maintenance and animal health checks safely. This doesn't mean these facilities are bad- it just means that they have different management practices. And frankly, a lot of these species aren't frequently bred elsewhere. Your average zoo doesn't need a setup where you can have a multiyear crèche for slender-snouted crocodiles. Some species have better success when the young are pulled early, and some zoos are better set up to raise out any offspring separately or behind the scenes. Every facility's practices are different, and this just happens to work well at St. Augustine and be really enjoyable to see as a zoo patron.
Crocodilians are exceptional parents and very protective. It's a sign of incredible animal management practices and animals that feel very comfortable with staff that St. Augustine can do this with nearly every species they breed.
2. They understand the social needs of their animals.
Some crocodilians are social. Some are solitary. Some can live happily with a member of the opposite sex but get territorial around members of the same sex. St. Augustine pays incredible attention to their social groupings to ensure that they aren't just meeting the animals' physical health needs but their social needs as well. They do continuous scientific research about social structures in crocodilians, taking blood samples to test stress hormones and observing stress behaviors to see how group dynamics change.
Tumblr media
For example, St. Augustine is home to one of the world's largest known living saltwater crocodiles, Maximo. And his comparatively tiny mate, Sydney. During the educational presentations with these two, they point out that even their monster of a croc needs his social group- he won't eat if she's not around and he is calmer during medical checks if he can see her. These animal share a deep and special pair bond, and they make sure to talk about how the social aspect of these animals' lives is integral to their care. It's a unique aspect of the way they talk about these animals, because he IS a spectacle and he IS a sensation, but they don't talk about him like he's a mindless killing machine- they talk about him like he's a big, complex predator with social needs like any other animal. Aug is the only facility I've been to where the emotional and social needs of crocodilians is part of the education they provide guests- and speaking of education...
3. Their demos and presentations are extremely good.
The presentations at St. Augustine are some of the best I've ever seen, and I've seen literally hundreds of animal talks on everything from aardvarks to zebras. But as you... can probably tell from my blog content, I've spent a lot of time learning about and working with reptiles. I really enjoyed all of their presentations because they are very scientific about things and avoid sensationalism. They really want you to be fascinated by these creatures and love them- but more than anything else, they want you to respect them.
Also, they do a really good job handling their ambassadors. I really enjoyed something as simple as watching an educator tell us about snakes. Throughout the whole presentation she made sure that most of the snake's body was looped in her hand. The snake was always supported and was very calm. She gave the snake plenty of head room so that it didn't feel constricted- it was just good handling all around.
Tumblr media
But also, the presentations made it clear how much the park cares about the animals' well-being. When they do the feeding and training presentations, they make it very clear that the animals' participation is entirely voluntary. They do things differently for their 9-foot saltie and their 16-foot saltie, because the 16-footer is so large and heavy he actually struggles walking on land sometimes. They adapt their programs and his care to ensure that he's completely comfortable- and he didn't actually participate in the whole feeding when I was watching! At no point did they try to push him into anything uncomfortable; they offered, he didn't engage, and they moved on. It was a clear expression of his boundaries, and I really appreciated how much his caretakers respected that.
Tumblr media
4. Ethical Interactions
I've been to... a lot of tourist locations in Florida that have animals you can hold. Almost always against my will! Many of them are pretty terrible, and you don't actually learn much, if anything. But I really found that to not be the case at St. Augustine. Every single animal presentation and interaction opportunity was accompanied by education about the animal's biology, habits, and- crucially- their conservation status.
When I held a baby alligator at St. Augustine, the proctors- there were two, one to ensure I was holding the gator correctly and the other to educate- were very informative about the role alligators play in their ecosystem and their conservation history. The animals were all properly banded, and one of the two proctors was there to ensure that none of the baby alligators were uncomfortable. As soon as they started getting squirmy or tense, they were removed, unbanded, and taken to an off-exhibit area to relax. And when the babies age out of petting size, they just go in the lagoon to live with others of their species. I saw one upset alligator the entire time I was there, and he was clearly upset that his escape attempt was foiled by a keeper during my nursery tour.
Tumblr media
Even though he's restrained in this shot, you can see that his full body and tail are supported, and the grip, while firm, is gentle. He's distressed, but after I took this picture, she put him in his enclosure and he calmed down immediately.
Sometimes when you have petting attractions with baby animals, those animals... don't have a happy ending. (See: cub petting.) But St. Augustine's program is fine- the gators are all aged out of wanting to have mom around, there's no declawing/defanging, and they're handled with care. And it's worth it, because people love what they understand. St. Augustine was integral in raising public awareness about alligators back in the 60s when they were endangered, and now they're thriving- largely in part to programs like St. Augustine getting people to care.
And speaking of getting people to care, let's talk about their research.
5. Shared Research Results
St. Augustine is also home to more species of crocodilian than anywhere else in North America- all of them, usually. (They didn't have a Tomistoma when I visited- that may have changed.)
Because of this species diversity, it's an incredible research resource. Having every species means that you can do a lot of work comparing their behaviors, their growth patterns, and more. They've been a major research site for crocodilian biology since the 1970s. Today, they're one of the key sites for studying crocodilian play and social behaviors. They actually maintain a blog where they post copies of papers that were written using their animals, meaning that you can actually see the results of the research your admission helps fund. You can see that right here: https://www.alligatorfarm.com/conservation-research/research-blog/
All of this adds up to a zoo that provides a unique experience, tons of actual education, and transparency about what its research and conservation steps actually are. St. Augustine's come a long way since its opening in 1893, and they really do want you to leave with a new respect for the animals they care for. Ultimately, if you're a fan of reptiles, you can feel good about visiting the St. Augustine Alligator Farm- their care and keeping are top of the line, they do a ton of innovative conservation research and support for conservation organizations, and you can see this animal there:

Running from the Flames {26}
Pairing: Pierre Gasly x OFC Warnings: 18+ only, fluff - this is a work of fiction and the events are not based on reality. F1 Masterlist || Previous Chapter - Next Chapter
Tumblr media
The last two hours were almost more nerve wracking than all of Pierre’s races combined and my knee bounced in the uncomfortable chair. The sterile surgical waiting room set me on edge, the smell of disinfectant reminding me of my own time spent on the ward. My cuticles hated me as I picked at them and I turned my phone upside down so I didn’t see it constantly lighting up with the text messages coming in asking for an update.
“Miss Vowles?” the administrator asked, disturbing the silence. “Mr Gasly is being moved to recovery, if you’ll follow me you can wait for him there.”
I rushed after her and her bright pink crocs with paw patrol pins that squeaked with every step on the vinyl floor. Addie would have loved the shoes and wanted her own pair so I was glad she was staying with Pascale. She had begged and pleaded to come, throwing herself to the ground with a mega tantrum that was rare for her, but she would have been bored waiting around the hospital and then probably been more upset seeing Pierre waking up from the operation.
The doors to the recovery room opened and my breath rushed out in relief as I saw Pierre on the gurney that was being rolled towards me. He was barely away, bleary eyes blinking slowly open and shut above his swollen cheeks as the orderly locked the wheels and left.
“Hey baby,” I murmured softly as I ran my fingers through his hair.
Green irises peeked out of his heavy eyelids and he looked around before they landed on me. “Where’s Sydney?” he slurred.
The nurse had warned me that he might be a little confused as the anaesthetic wore off but it was still a surprise. “Adelaide’s waiting at home with your mum.”
He tried to shake his head but ended up groaning in pain. “I know that, where’s our son?”
My heart skipped a beat and I didn’t know what to say since he obviously wasn’t thinking clearly. “That’s the drugs in your system, love. We don’t have a son.”
His brows pinched and his fingers reached for mine so I took his hand, careful to avoid the IV that was still there. He traced the engagement ring he had given me only a few days ago and the glazed look in his eyes started to clear. “We should,” he murmured. “Doesn’t have to be a son, another daughter would be amazing too.”
“I should be recording this so you can have a laugh when you sober up later,” I teased and kissed his forehead. “Would you really name your son Sydney?”
“Or Darwin, maybe Bathurst. Uh, Toowoomba?”
“That sounds like a knock-off robot-vacuum,” I said through the laughs that I tried to keep quiet so the nurses didn’t growl at us. “You will never be allowed to name any of our children.”
“You said ‘children’, plural, I like the sound of that.” He shifted on the bed and patted the space he made so I could climb into his arms. I had to force myself not to stroke his face, such a habitual act that was difficult to break but I didn’t want to hurt him more than he already was.
For months he had been avoiding this surgery so he could finish the season without  having to miss a race. The teething gel had worked enough that he made it to the end and Alpine had finished fourth in the Constructors Championship, something everyone had been absolutely thrilled about. Otmar was already talking about being on the podium for next season - now that he had the big cash injection from Granny to fund better technology on par with Red Bull, Astin Martin and Mercedes.
Now that Peirre had all his wisdom teeth removed he would be able to concentrate on that dream even more.
I giggled quietly as Pierre drifted back off to sleep and a small line of dribble ran down his numb lips. I was careful to avoid his swollen jaw as I wiped it away for him, but not before I took a selfie with him first. He had more than enough embarrassing photos of me on his phone, it was about time I had one of my own.
His power nap didn’t last long as a nurse came around to check on him and he woke up with a confused look on his face when he saw we weren’t in our bed at home. “Ow,” he grumbled as he buried his head in my neck and away from the bright lights. “Did you use your right hook on me?”
The information booklet that the surgeons had given him after his consultation before we left for Abu Dhabi had warned him that he would have tenderness for a couple of weeks and couldn’t do any vigorous exercise until the stitches were gone. That was the biggest reason he hadn’t had the troublesome teeth removed mid-season.
“No, I save my punches for assholes that deserve it,” I murmured as I stroked his back soothingly.
“That’s my girl.”
“Do you want a drink? The nurse said when you pee then we can go home.”
He nodded more out of wanting to go home not because he was thirsty and I winced at the pained sound he made when trying to swallow. I took the cup away and used another napkin to dab the drops that clung to his lip as he tried to get comfortable again.
“I hate seeing you in pain,” I whispered, knowing the next week was going to be the hardest.
“Then let me distract you,” he whispered back.
“Pierre,” I warned as his hand disappeared under the thin sheet. “Behave yourself.”
“I can never behave with you around.”
The telltale squeaks of the nurse's shoes approached and I pulled his hand back over my waist just as the curtain was pulled open. She didn’t look too impressed at both of us being in the bed still but it was a private hospital and we were paying more than enough to be granted the small comfort.
“How are you feeling, Mr Gasly?”
“Been better, but ready to get out of here.”
She nodded and pointed to the other side of the room. “Bathrooms are through that door. I’ll prepare your discharge papers.”
Not wanting to stay a minute longer, he grabbed the cup of water and chugged it down despite the ache each swallow made. “Ah, that tastes disgusting.”
I hopped off the bed so he could get up and he looked down at the hospital gown with distaste making me laugh. “You make it look good, I promise.”
His feet were unsteady as they touched the cold floor and I wrapped my arm around his waist when he started to sway. “Why is there a breeze at the back?”
I looked behind him and had to stifle a giggle as I closed the back of the gown that had come open to show off his ass. “Maybe they got your surgery mixed up and gave you a colonoscopy as well.”
“No, no. No more hanging out with my brothers,” he said as he shuffled along. “Phillipe said the same thing, that I would wake up with bottom surgery.”
“Oh, babe,” I burst out laughing, “that’s not what you think it is.”
His brows furrowed together. “Wait, what?”
“I’ll tell you later.” I opened the bathroom door and he froze as we crossed the threshold.
“You can wait outside,” he said quietly as he tried to step away but his legs were like jelly.
“Pierre, we are getting married, I held your head over a sick bowl when you had that tummy bug and I have brought you toilet paper when the roll ran out more times than I can count. I think I can handle seeing you pee.” I closed the door behind us as his face turned red. “Don’t be embarrassed. You are always taking care of me, it’s about time you let me take care of you.”
“Fine, but don’t look,” he ceded as you helped him stand up straight and turned your head away.
“Don’t worry about me, just focus so we can get out of here before Nurse Ratched comes back.”
Tumblr media
Pierre managed a smile when we got home and Addie came running out of the house like she hadn’t just seen him that morning.
“Careful, sweetie,” I warned as he picked her up and her arms automatically wrapped around his neck before she tried to kiss his cheek. “Daddy’s face is sore and he needs to rest.”
“I can share Mr Snuggly,” she offered before climbing down and taking his hand to lead him to the living room. She didn’t even let me touch her favourite teddy that she had snuggled with since she was a newborn. “He’ll make the ouchies go away.”
While they went and got comfortable on the couch for a very lazy week planned ahead, I grabbed the bag of pain medication the doctor had prescribed and caught Pascale up on how it all went.
“Can you believe he kept his teeth they pulled out?” I asked with a cringe that she mirrored, shaking her head at her son.
“As long as he doesn’t show me them, or hide them around the house like he did when he was a boy, then he can do as he pleases.” She closed the car for me and laughed at the incredulous look I gave her. “I love my sons but boys keep you on your toes. How is the wedding planning going? Pierre said you were looking at a spring wedding.”
“Winter just wouldn’t work unless I want to hobble down the aisle, and Pierre is too impatient to wait until summer.” I smiled at the thought of the many ideas we had talked about in the last week. If he had his way we would already be hitched but I wanted to wait until mum had time to process the adoption papers and we could both become Gasly’s at the same time. “We are actually looking at having it in Australia since there is a free weekend between the Jeddah and Melbourne race. But nothing is set in stone yet, we really should get a wedding planner to sort it all out.”
“Ask the girls in the group chat, I’m sure they have someone to recommend.”
It was no secret that the drivers had a WhatsApp chat group but few people knew about the one for the WAGs. “How do you know about that?”
Pascale laughed and waved her hand. “Back in my day we used the party line then email came along.”
“What's the party line?”
“Oh, don’t make me feel any older than I already feel. Just ask the girls.”
“Considering Kevin and Sergio are the only ones married I’m not sure how much help they will be.”
“Doesn’t stop them from dreaming, darling. I should get going but call me if you need anything and Pierre’s favourite soup is in the fridge.” I followed her inside and she grabbed her handbag off the side table in the living room before kissing Pierre on the head as she passed the back of the couch then rubbed Addie’s back where she was curled up into his side. “Bye, my sweet, I love you.”
“Love you too, grand-mére,” she replied, barely tearing her eyes away from the movie they had chosen.
“Bye, ma,” Pierre said with a sleepy wave before he tipped his head back and closed his eyes.
I walked Pascale out to the security gate and kissed her cheek, offering once again to drive her home but the afternoon was serene and the walk home wasn’t far. Pierre was still awake, just, when I got back inside and I massaged his shoulders as I stood behind him. “Stay awake for a minute, you’re due some medication.”
I grabbed the bag of supplies from the pharmacy and tipped them onto the coffee table so I could see what was what. One box was an anti-inflammatory, another was a pain killer, there was a large bottle of mouth rinse and the last box was the refill for my birth control. Pierre leaned forward to check the labels since he could be randomly tested for drugs through the off season and didn’t want to take anything that could show up.
His fingers grabbed the smallest box and turned it over to see my name on it. He stared at it for a minute, idly tapping it against his leg. “It felt so real.”
“What did?” I asked as I cracked two painkillers out of the blister back and went to get him a bottle of water.
“Sydney,” he murmured as I put the pills in his hand and went to take the box back but his fingers closed tightly around it. “I can still remember how it felt holding him, I can still hear his cries. What if…” He bit his lip and looked up from the box that held him fixated, his eyes clear and bright. “What if you don’t take these?”

Olivia Swann is the first to acknowledge that NCIS: Sydney‘s Special Agent Michelle Mackey has been a bit “blunt” thus far — though the English actress’ preferred adjectives are “fiery,” “maverick” and direct.”
That early read on the merged NCIS/AFP teams’ leader may be about to change, however. Because the first international NCIS offshoot’s fourth episode, airing tonight at 8/7c on CBS, will shed some light on why Mackey is the way she is.
Thus far, as referenced in the premiere, we know that Mackey was a Marine Corps helicopter pilot who at some point faced a court martial for an unknown incident, but was found not guilty. (It was during that court martial process that she first met NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson, back when he was a JAG.)
This week’s episode, titled “Ghosted,” will fill in some blanks on the aforementioned incident, after a U.S. petty officer’s body is found dead in Sydney’s historic and haunted Rocks area.
TVLine spoke with Swann about the imminent reveal, her commute to Australia, and what those time-traveling (and, sigh, cancelled) Legends of Tomorrow must be up to these days….
TVLINE | Mackey thus far has been taciturn, brusque…. What words are you comfortable with to describe her? I mean, I’d say fiery, if anything. She’s very strong, fierce, a maverick, very tough, blunt, direct.
TVLINE | But this Tuesday’s episode sheds some light on why that is? It sure does. This episode is definitely a turning point in the Mackie that we already know. It definitely adds another level and a layer to who she is.
TVLINE | Did you know the details of this dark part of her past going in? Was that part of what drew you to the role? I actually know quite a fair bit about her. And this was part of it. When I auditioned, usually you get a bit of a breakdown of the character, but with Mackey it was about 2-1/2 pages. So already I was like, “Well, this is fantastic! There’s so much to work with already.” And then once I got the role, I sat down with [showrunner] Morgan [O’Neil] and instantly was like, “Tell me even more, I want to know everything about this woman.”
Tumblr media
TVLINE | Between last week’s episode — where she told Blue, “Take a breath” — and the reveals of week, do you think Mackey is becoming a warmer colleague to the rest of the team? Or at least someone that the viewers will to start to warm up to and better understand? I think so and I hope so. I know that she was the kind of character that when you first meet her, you can be quite taken aback by her directness and her bluntness, which I love — but I do understand how she can come across. But definitely, we are starting to see a Mackey who is warming up slightly and actually genuinely developing a genuine like for her fellow teammates, whether she’d admit that outright or not.
TVLINE | This week’s episode kicks off in the Rocks section of Sydney, which is apparently haunted in real life. What sort of “ghost stories” did you hear? I actually didn’t hear any ghost stories, which I’m glad about, because I scare easily. [Laughs] So, if someone had told me them before going, I would not have gone. I didn’t even know that it was really haunted while we were filming — so again, thrilled that I didn’t know that.
TVLINE | What has been the most interesting area of Sydney for you to visit so far? Oh, interesting…. At the beginning of Episode 2, where they find the body in the water [Cowan Creek in New South Wales], that was really awesome. But a lot of the crew told Sean [Sagar] and I that there were these things called “croc holes” where crocodiles live and will come out and attack you, so we spent a big portion of that shoot being terrified… before learning that they don’t exist.
TVLINE | Had you ever been to Australia before? Was this commute a consideration that you needed a moment with before you said yes? Absolutely not. I was like, “Can I go tomorrow?” I’ve never been to Sydney before, so when someone is like, “Hey, go to Sydney for five months and shoot a really cool series,” hell yeah I’m going. I never feel like attached to any one place, so I don’t really get homesick. I will happily uproot and go anywhere for work, and feel as home there as I do here in London.
Tumblr media
TVLINE | Lastly: Are the Legends still in the time prison, you think…? Oh yeah. Come on, get us out! Astra’s probably there ruling somehow, she’s definitely got a team of minions doing her bidding. But does that mean Sara’s had a baby in prison…?
TVLINE | Oh, right. That’s sad. But a fun story to tell the kid when it grows up. You know, it is. [Laughs] We always had this envision of doing a cellblock tango number [if there was a Season 8], that’s what we pitched to everyone.
TVLINE | Were you sad that fans never got true resolution to the show? Yeah. I mean, we were all really sad because I think it would have been so fun just to at least go out on our own terms. But having said that, I mean, I might not be here promoting NCIS: Sydney if it had — so everything happens for a reason.

Gay Dinosaurs
Tumblr media
Let me interrupt your regularely scheduled paleozoic posts for some gay dinosaurs because it‘s pride month.
Up there you can see a little doodle I did of a Heterodontosaurus holding a pride flag. And yes, that is it‘s real name (although it actually translates to “different-teethed-lizard“; you can see it‘s weird dentation in most paleoart, as it is usually depicted with its mouth wide open). It was a small fella, only about 1.5 m long and maybe 10 kg heavy, most likely herbivorous and lived in the early jurassic, about 200 million years ago.
Heterodontosaurus is of course not the gay dinosaur I want to talk about. For the extinct dinosaurs it is very difficult to tell sexual behavior. There aren‘t really any fossils of dinosaurs that are in the middle of fucking, and even if there were, telling the sex of a fossil is very difficult to borderline impossible.
However, we still have dinosaurs around: The birds. Usually you hear that birds are descendants of dinosaurs. That is true, but it is true in the same way, that dogs are descendants of mammals. They are. But they also are still mammals themselves. It‘s the same for birds. They originated from dinosaurs, but they are still part of the dinosaur lineage.
Those fuzzy little dinosaurs that we still have today are extremely gay. Very famously gay are the Chinstrap Penguins of Central Park Zoo, that raised a chick together, but there are many other gay penguin couples: In San Francisco there is a pair of Magenellic penguins, a King penguin couple in Berlin, African Penguins in the Netherlands, gay Gentoo penguins in Sydney and Valencia and many more. More recently there has been a pair of male vultures in a zoo in Amsterdam that has adopted an orphaned egg and they raised the chick together.
Gay behavior is also not just something that is observed in captivity. On an Island of the coast of California there is a population of seagulls with lots of lesbian couples. More often bird species show male-male-pairings though, like in Black swans or Greylag geese, where up to 20 % of pairs are same sex. Sometimes this also causes major problems for breeding programs of endangered species. In one case for example a female Blue duck was presented with two males to chose a mate from. However, the two males decided to chose each other and are apparently very happy now.

What do all those gay birds now mean for the non-bird dinosaurs? Well, since fruity behavior is that widespread among birds, it is very likely, that they inherited it from their common ancestor. This means that at least the lineage of small carnivorous dinosaurs from which birds descended most likely also showed gay behavior.
But what about all the other dinosaurs?
I did some digging and managed to find an account of male-male-mating in crocodiles (caimans to be exact) published in 2012 in Herpetological Reviews (Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians). You can read it here and you should, mainly, because the clinical way the author describes these two crocs fucking is cracking me up.
Tumblr media
So why is the gay croc important? Well, Crocodiles, birds and the non-bird dinosaurs (also the flying pterosaurs) all belong to the same group, called Archosauria. If today, we can see gay crocs and gay birds, it is very likely that they inherited it from a common ancestor (like all the birds would have inherited it from their common dinosaur ancestor). If birds and crocs inherited it, dinosaurs most likely did too. Therefore, there were gay dinosaurs (which honestly isn‘t surprising at all considering how many gay animals there are today).
So, in conclusion, happy pride month to all the gay dinosaurs!

Australian Gothic
- The northern territory is filled with loose cannons. They walk in their meat hangers. You ignore them and have a longneck. The Mozzies won’t go away.
- The politicians are all newbies. They target crocs instead of key issues. You think they are oxygen thieves. They all speak pigs arse.
- You sit on the front deck of the house. The postie is delivering all the letters to you but none are in your name. At least he's not sleeping on the job.
- The potato man spits the dummy about vaping. The guilty condemn the guilty about rewarding terrorism. No one is straight up and down. You go to the parliament house.
- The faceless men want to strip the dead of their orders. It's all pig's arse to the voter. The Pub Test doesn't matter anymore.
- You decide you don't want to live in sydney anymore. The airport has no other destination. You are told all flights go to Sydney. You decide to stay home. The sands of bondi beach are all you know.
- You sit out back at the ranch. You are drinking coopers. The family member is dead. You can never escape the Eastern Brown Snake.
- The trees aren't singing tonight. Men in white trousers were in the forests. They went bung,
- The drinks were too strong. You were raging the night away at the shivoo. Don't fear the booze bus.
- Someone offers you thongs. The sand is broiling the land dry. You're too legless to feel the fire.

Get out of my notes w this australian animals r scary murders bullshit we dont have any animals that could actually be interested in eating a human and therefore none of them are actually interested in attacking a human. You are only at risk if you are provoking the animal. Using venom to kill a human is dangerous and a waste of energy for the animal they will only do it as a last resort because putting themselves up close and personal with a giant creature they cant possibly hope to beat is actually really fucking dangerous. Most invenomnations take hours to kill a human the only exception being the sydney funnel web which still gives u plenty of time to squash the damn spider. Your only at risk of wildlife if ur up north and swimming in summer without a stingersuit. Or the off chance you step on a croc, also in the north. Whereas over in north america u have bears, moose, wolves, coyotes, and aligators all of which are just as likely to be able to injure you as those crocs accept yk theyre combined range stretches to about your entire country. Australia is no more dangerous than anywhere else and you guys r just being annoying as fuck.

Taronga Zoo: Wild adventures await in Sydney
For as long as I can remember, an Australian Zoo has been a bucket list adventure for me. As a kid whenever we went away and stayed in a hotel, the only show my sister and I could agree on watching was Steve Irwin’s Croc Files. The second my travel agent called me to confirm my flights I was flicking through my Lonely Planet guide. Highlighter in hand, I marked the ones close to me on my route.…
