idk my whole stance on the “will they/won’t they” in regards to buddie canon is just. it’s loud, it’s oddly ironic, that these are the only two main’s on the show that are S I N G L E. still! in season sex six! that their relationship statuses have basically run parallel to each other, that they keep trying and failing to find a romantic partner. so let’s look at the other side of the coin. what’s the other option? introducing yet again brand new love interests for both buck and eddie and having these people be their endgame relationships?

eddie? who has always held his cards close to his chest, is extremely protective over his son and who he gets close to, who has already tried dating the seemingly perfect woman for him and his son?

buck? who’s going to be a harder sell than ever now that he knows not to settle? who’s going to be looking for someone that accepts him just as he is, someone that compliments him perfectly, who accepts his relationships with the firefam, with chris and eddie, without complaint?

if this were season 2, 3, or hell, even season 4, i’d say yeah maybe we have time for all that. but we’re nearing the end of season SIX and there have been no new love interests brought in. and i don’t foresee 911 being a show that runs for 20+ seasons. i mean it could i guess but like. we’re in it. the meat of the sandwich. narratively, i don’t see it making sense for them to spend precious time cultivating new endgame relationships for the two of them. they’d likely have to run them at the same time, parallel to each other. yet again. which would be a tell in its own right that they were actively avoiding buddie canon.

i’m not saying they absolutely won’t do that, i have no idea what their actual plans are. i’m just saying they’re boxing themselves into a corner. a great big rainbow-filled flaming gay corner.

Astral body lore that I have gathered from vague things that Castor and Pollux have said. First created on 2/15/2024

1. If Castor or Pollux dies, then the other dies as well.

From what Pollux said in the episode ‘Castor CONFRONTS Stitchwraith?! in VRCHAT’, and I quote: “cuz if you die then I die, and I don’t want to die.”. This brings in the question of whether or not if one of them just gets hurt, does that mean that the pain/injury gets translated to the other twin as well? Or does it just transfer over when the other twin dies?

2. If an astral body dies, then they do not truly die, they just respawn.

From what (Castor? Gemini? Idk) said in the episode ‘Lunar is FLUSTERED around Gemini in VRChat’. Some of the astral body’s have died. But that brings in the question of why Pollux is so scared of dying if they just respawn? I asked this question in the comments and someone pointed out that they might lose their memories if they die (thx for that btw if your reading this :), but there’s also the possibility that it’s just extremely painful for them to regenerate.

3. If Castor and Pollux are separated from each other for a long period of time, they will die.

From both the episodes ‘Earth Learns LUNAR'S DARK SECRET?!? IN VRCHAT’ [the episode of which the Gemini twins first appeared] and ‘Lunar Needs Castors HELP in VRCHAT’. This is very self explanatory, the only question or note I have on this part is how long does it take for them to start dying? Like a day or 2 I’m guessing? Idk man I just work here.

4. The astral body’s like things to be on schedule/Pisces and sagittarius are more kind than the other astral’s (?)

In the episode ‘Castor and Pollux's PLAN for LUNAR?! in VRCHAT’ Castor and Pollux said this: “everyone’s getting angry! I mean- they like things to be punctual! They like things on their own timetable.” “Those two are very awful about it.” (Note: in this scene the twins are complaining about how the other astrals are rushing them on find out if lunar’s a threat or not, and their complaining about Leo and taurus in particular.) *sigh* “Pisces and Sagittarius are likely doing their own thing.”. I looked up what the personalities of Pisces and Sagittarius, and they generally seem like they’d probably be more nice (if google is correct), and I might be jumping to conclusions on this one, but I think that they might be friends, due to the way that castor mentioned them together, and google says that they have a very high friendship potential.

5. The really fucking weird system of how Gemini works.

In the episode ‘Earth Learns LUNAR'S DARK SECRET?!? IN VRCHAT’, apparently the original plan that Castor and Pollux had for wandering around earth, was to turn into Gemini so they would look slightly less strange because their Gemini form looks more human. And during that part of their conversation, Pollux says: “when we have to do work, you can take over!”, and in the episode ‘Lunar DATES Gemini in VRCHAT’ castor decides to take a nap while Pollux and lunar hang out. But in a previous episode (I forget which lol) Castor said that they don’t sleep??? Does that mean that Castor just doesn’t like to usually sleep??? Whatever, that part at least makes more sense than what I’m about to say next, since it seems like at least they kinda have what sun and moon had when they shared the same body. But in the latest episode ‘Earth and Monty's SURPRISE DOUBLE DATE with Lunar and Gemini!’ They say something along the lines of “when we’re Gemini, we are one. Whatever one likes, the other one likes as well.”. SO UHHH, I kinda remember Castor mentioned at one point when they were talking about their Gemini form “when we’re like that I want to do my job less…” so like- how does the personality bleed system work???? Because whenever they’re Gemini, it seems like Pollux is just the exact same as she usually is. SO IS IT ONLY CASTOR WHO GETS A PERSONALTY???? I mean I guess we wouldn’t really know the difference since we never really get any info on his likes and dislikes in the show, BUT POLLUX IS JUST NORMAL!!! HOW DOES THIS WORK????

Side notes: it’s also been demonstrated that in the episode ‘Lunar is FLUSTERED around Gemini in VRChat’, they share a headspace, and actively have conversations in their head when they’re Gemini. Also it’s kinda confusing because sometimes it seems like they slip into one person for a second, but then go back to being two different people. So is Gemini (the person) real??? Or am I just verbally hallucinating???? Also I’m not going to go into this in detail, but…..wtf is Gemini’s gender??? Because castor takes on a more masculine form and uses he/they and Pollux takes on a feminine form and uses she/they, So what’s up with Gemini??? I mean they obviously use they/them because they’re literally 2 fucking people, but flag wise, what is their gender??? Nonbinary? Trans? Gender-fluid? Bigender??? WHAT IS IT SHEEPOLE????

6. Taurus, Leo, and Libra, destroy planets.

Once again this section pretty much explains itself. Mentioned in the current latest episode of S.A.M.S ‘ECLIPSE is CONFRONTED in VRCHAT’, my assumption of why this is, is because the astrals (from what we know) are all about protecting the laws of the universe, and because all things must eventually come to an end. So my theory is that some of the astrals must destroy planets to keep the balance of life and death, and kill old planets to make way for new ones (sorry that this section is poorly worded, I just don’t know how else to explain it lol.)

7. The antimatter is sentient (?)

Once again mentioned in the episode ‘ECLIPSE is CONFRONTED in VRCHAT’, castor mentioned how there are “anti constellations” (which the way castor said it makes sounds like the beginning of the plot of a really shitty marvel movie, but that’s besides the point), aka the antimatter and also not are not his kin. And also mentioned how the wither storms are like demented children of the antimatter. And I quote “did you think when you made negative star power, there’s no such thing as a negative constellation? One that draws on that power? One that wants to bring the end?” “I thought that was the damn storm?!?” “It is. The storm is…sort of like its child. It chooses to foster.” Which the way castor explained it didn’t make them sound like an unstoppable force, more like an unstoppable person (if that makes sense).

Update: 04-23-2024

As of writing this, the lovely Gemini twins have made a brief appearance in the current latest episode ‘Gemini SENDS A MESSAGE in VRChat’ and have brought a small bit of new lore with them :)

8. The astrals have their own unique culture and manners

Mentioned in the current latest episode as of writing this: ‘Gemini SENDS A MESSAGE in VRChat’, Gemini mentions that the stars have their own etiquette, but never really gave any context beyond that since they thought if they told lunar, then it would break his mind, WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR. BESTIE I DO NOT CARE IF IT MAKES ME INSANE, IN CASE YOU COULDNT TELL FROM ME WRITING THIS ENTIRE ESSY, THE ADDED INFORMATION WILL ONLY MAKE MY HYPERFIXATION STRONGER. *cough cough* so anyways yeah this section is basically just a place holder till we get more info on their culture.

Honorable mentions that I think are too small of facts/too obvious to get their own sections:

Since the astral body’s are made out of light (mentioned multiple times throughout the show, but I think the first mention is in ‘EARTH and POLLUX Become BEST FRIENDS?! In VRCHAT’) they can move through walls and most physical structures and surfaces.

(Updated 03-11-2024. got a bit distracted so this update is 2 weeks late from when the episode with this info was first released.) The astrals can for some reason not be seen by colorblind creatures??? Mentioned in the episode ’Lunar Is FRIEND ZONED! in VRChat’, because there was a deer standing near lunar and Gemini said “it must be comfortable in your presence” and when lunar asked why they didn’t care about Gemini, with which they responded with “no we are more or less invisible to them. See?” Then they started to run around the deer. And when asked why by lunar they replied with “most animals on your planet are colorblind. We are light. If light can’t reflect the way it’s meant to, then we kinda just come off as invisible.” WHICH MAKES NO F*CKING SENSE AT ALL!!! Cuz like yes. they wouldn’t be able to see them in their full glory, but if an animal were to look at them they’d at least see a glowing figure towering above them!!! So yea, it was probably just a bit to explain why a deer would be standing so close to them, but it still makes no sense.

Castor and Pollux take on the left brain and right brain atriabuts of a human being. Castor taking the left, while Pollux takes the right.

The astral body’s can naturally produce star power without creating any anti matter. (Mentioned in the episode ‘Moon is THREATENED by GEMINI?! in VRCHAT’ I think.)

The astral body’s are actively fighting the anti matter (somehow).

I’m a bit unsure about this part, but there might be an actual space court where lunar’s trial is currently taking place. once again mentioned in the episode ‘Gemini SENDS A MESSAGE in VRChat’……… what-

And lastly, and probably the most obvious of all, the astral body’s do not need to eat or sleep, since the astral body’s are made of light.

once again i am putting my nose where it doesn’t belong to tap the well aged sign: preferences do not good writing advice make.

this time, as i was taking a lovely grandeur through the hallowed echo chamber that is the tumblr dashboard, i came across a post that claimed to be a guide for writing characters with powers or special abilities. as i have no interest in reading writing advice posts when i can avoid it (as you can see, they clearly annoy me too much), i unfortunately could not help but be captivated by the first paragraph the tumblr’s post shortening feature could not spare me from.

to summarize, the first point was that all characters need a power limit because it is inherently boring if a character can do anything, unrestricted.

and i would simply like to point out that a very popular anime has this exact fucking premise and guess what, it’s not boring.

for the uninitiated, the entire point of one punch man is that saitama is essentially an infinite power source. there isn’t anything he can’t solve without punching it square in the face. the challenge, tension, and conflict mostly come from saitama’s interpersonal struggles within himself that there isn’t anything that can excite him anymore, and finding purpose with these awesome abilities. technically speaking the “limit” that is spoken of in the post doesn’t exist—there’s nothing stopping saitama from obliterating anything that gets in his path and literally most of the time he does. however, his interpersonal journey (at least, which is more heavily focused on in season one and specifically what i’m referring to) is still a conflict without removing that op aspect from him.

and i know what you’re saying: but isn’t that the point of the part of the post that annoyed you? his boredom is a mental block and so technically that’s a limit? and i would say to you, no. like there’s nothing that’s actually hindering his powers, saitama is actively looking for something that can thrill him enough to use his godlike abilities. AND what i’m saying is, that the overarching point is that it is entirely possible to still craft an interesting story around a character that is limitless in their power. it’s literally been done before, even just in that small example.

but onto my broader bitch fest.

it annoys me whenever i see posts like these because once again this is a preference. it frames their argument as the end all be all of writing advice on the particular subject, and even if it is aimed at “beginners,” i still wonder what help it does to tell people that inherently their idea is boring or bad if they don’t do x or if they do y. i just feel like it isn’t helpful, at least not the wording of it at the bare minimum. i spent my days as a young writer worrying is this going to be good enough, or oh maybe this character is too op just based on posts like this alone and it stifled my creativity.

which brings me to my second universal stance on writing.

i don’t think it’s helpful to say do this or don’t do that, but i do think it is helpful to ask why. why can this character do x, why is it important to you and the narrative that y happens, why is this world like that, why is this character acting like that and so on. anything can be a good story built to your own tastes, but what helps you develop it is simply asking yourself why are things happening. i found asking myself why has been a far more effective tool to worldbuilding than any other advice i’ve ever seen ever.

i will now continue to huddle at the bus stop because it’s now too cold for me to keep being annoyed

Idk if this is just me, but most (art) tutorials make me want to gnaw on drywall. However, watching artists create in their natural environment is like drinking from a cool natural spring.

Random Kirby Headcanon #6

Zan Partizanne, despite not being biologically related to her father, also has a delusion disorder and can sometimes believe things that are not true. One in particular she comes back to a lot is that she and her sisters aren’t actually alive and/or weren’t people before Hyness rescued them, them actually just being weapons he brought to life and imbued with false memories. This seems to be representative of both the fact that she feels like Hyness alone gave her a purpose and that she’d strongly prefer not to acknowledge her prior life.

Initially, Hyness and the others were very distressed by these claims, but nowadays they just kind of leave her be. The thought seems to bring her comfort, and so as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone there’s no real point in trying to argue with her when she experiences these things.

I was listening to random ST character’s playlists today during my internship. I got to Mike’s and I know everyone likes to talk about “Smalltown Boy”, “Don’t You Want Me” (Pride Album cover edition) and “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” but it made me wonder if there were any other notable songs hinting at Mike’s sexuality. So, I just started randomly theorizing (and reaching for crumbs).

“Still Haunting Me” by Magic Dance (2016)

It’s the 7th song on Mike's playlist and the song is originally from an album called Vanishings. [The song used in the playlist is from a compilation album called Synthwave (The 80s Revival) but just do some digging and you’ll find the original song comes from the album Vanishings.]

Now, to me, the lyrics read like Season 3 Episode 3’s fight, where Will is emotional and bikes off, leaving Mike distraught:

I’m going to reach even further. Why did they use the 7” version of Level 42’s “Something About You”, in Mike’s playlist? I listened to both versions and didn’t notice a difference in the lyrics.

Again, I might be reaching with connecting the number 7 to Mike’s playlist, but what would the implications be if these songs gave insight to Mike’s feelings towards Will.

And then, there’s also this song:

“Telephone Operator” by Pete Shelley

Yes, I’m associating telephones and phonecalls with Byler. Mainly because of Season 4 (the missed calls and phone booth), and because…the singer/songwriter for this song was bisexual.

Ahah uh. This is such a tiring answer to receive but it's always "practice"

Practice in a sense that you'd draw a lot. Practice in a sense that you'd study other people's works a lot. Practice in the sense that you'd experiment and step out of your artistic comfort zones a lot

That's what I mean when you ought to "practice". It's one thing to be told to practice but it's another thing to understand what that actually means for you. And for me, it's the part where I experiment a lot— I've gone through, and will still go through, many art style shifts and learnings with each piece I work even just a little differently than my usual on

But that's what works for me. For others, practice can mean drawing everyday or even just studying other people's art everyday. It kinda ends up being a mixture of all the things I said but you lean into one side more when you're really getting yourself into it

Regardless, always keep in mind of the fundamentals. Which can mean many things too depending on what you'd want your art to look like at the end of the day. If you're going for a more realistic style, focus on anatomy and perspectives, if you're going for scenic artworks, focus on lighting and shadows, if you're going for cartoony pieces, focus on exaggeration and shapes. That isn't to say you'll be throwing away the other basics but the focus will be more heavy on those specific scenarios. You can also apply all of these and just mix and match until you find what works for you

ok there's a few ways this poll can go:

matsuyo vs choromatsu: this one is interesting, personally i would think it would be funny and very ososan-esque if it ended in a tie. in the end the joke is on all of us, no one wins or loses. downside it would be a very anticlimactic ending for most people

matsuyo vs chibita: THIS would actually force people to vote for two prominent side characters that get written off by most watchers. it's very evenly matched. people won't give into favoritism bc a sextuplet isn't involved, and there's no widely liked one-off characters to compete with. they have personalities and their own stories to tell, even if the focus isn't always on them these days. unfortunately i don't think there will be as many voters :/ the hype would die down pretty quickly

choromatsu vs homura: ??? i could see choro winning this simply bc chorowarriors are out for blood rn but homuraheads are crazy too

chibita vs homura: very predictable ending homura would win because no one has moved on from episode 9 in 7 years

ive seen some posts like "xenologue!alcryst is the opposite of canon!alcryst but xenologue!céline is just normal céline but Extreme" but like. i dont think thats whays goin on here exactly

like, lets look at céline, yeah? her canon! character traits are, like, most prominently is her kindness, followed by her devotion to her people, followed by the least shown one, which would be how she's willing to do just about anything to protect her people.

now lests look at alcryst. most notable: his imposter syndrome and utter self hatred, his love/caring/admiration/whatever the word im looking for is for people, specifically his family (esp diamant) (to the point where its his personal skill), and finally, barely shown, he is shown to be... maybe not like full on bloodthirsty but like yknow? (thinking mainly about how he ends up threatening ivy in the chapter 11 post battle talk) (also about how luna (negates/ignore's half of foe's defense and resistance) is a skill locked to him) (probably as a counterpart to sol (which is locked to diamant), but oddly fitting)

in both cases, the second trait at least a little bit informs the first and the third, yeah? so to me it looks like the scale has been reversed, really, rather than their xenologue counterparts being their opposites. like, theey are, but like on the same sliding scale or smth yknow?
