 Zdzisław Salaburski (1922-2006) Actor and painter. Initially, he played in the Pomorska Land Theater in Toruń. In 1947 he performed at the Polish Army Theater in Łódź. He spent the years 1948-55 in Poznań, where he played in the Polish and New Theaters. In 1956 he was an actor at the Stary Theater in Krakow. From 1957, he performed in Warsaw theaters: the People's and the National. Apart from acting, he painted. He created paintings under the sign of informel art - called in Poland Tashism or painting of matter. He exhibited them many times, they were highly appreciated.

Inspirations include: the phenomenon of the human being as a part of nature that surrounds us, widely understood. This painting combines the features of organic abstractionism, expressionism, and tashism, builds recognizable painting style on these foundations base, exposes the value of painting matter, the freedom of manipulate it and intensity of saturated colors. Painted according to one of developed several original painting techniques, used on the canvas, over the years of creating. Thanks to them, I achieve visual effects of textural painting while maintaining the absolutely flat surface of the painting. I wish audience to feel unity with surrounding, existing nature, beeing a part of it, admiring and exploring it, with positive emotions for our journey throught the World, inside balance and harmony. The theme may be interpreted associated with: the nature and human as a part of it, the progress, the beginning, the rise. About author’s technique I’ ve developed several original painting techniques, used on the canvas, over the years of creating. Thanks to them, I achieve visual effects of textural painting while maintaining the absolutely flat surface of the image. I prepare paints based on high photostability pigments and often uses art conservators media. These technologies increase works resistance to time passage and light activity , as well as open up inexhaustible creative possibilities The foundation are water-based acrylic paints. I add to them: - high-durability pigments used by conservators - printing inks, used with technologies on paper - noble tar - thinners are water and solvents: turpentine and white spirit, which proportion I choose depending on the effect intend to achieve. The same applies to the proportion of paint content. The saturation, opacity and penetration of paint on the canvas surface depend on these two values. The quality of the fabric used plays a very important role in my painting process on the canvas. Its thickness, composition of fiber weave determine the precision and sharpness of details the final effect, as well as the amount of visible, interpenetrating layers. In the creative process, after applying layers of paints, I remove their excess, using the way and tools developed by me. In a controlled way using the natural absorbency of the canvas material. You could include this technique in the alla prima painting technique. However, it distinguishes from the classical one alla prima, because of the fact, that the fabric is primed, only on the back side of the canvas. It blocks and bonds with the substrate the pigment applied on the front, penetrating into the structure of the fabric. My goal in creating it was (in short) preserving the visual values of the image elements, as close as possible to the eye of the viewer. The subject matter of many of my paintings is derived from the concepts of micro and macro cosmos and depicts their mutual connection (and one can say that unity), touches the structures of matter, often very deeply. The view, when the eye is close to the picture, should not be disturbed by anything (eg. thickness of textures) - just like in nature, during electron microscope examination.
