truly fucked up how you can just boil a bunch of mushrooms with a little salt, thicken it with some roux, and that's soup. it literally doesn't need anything else, you could add pasta or onions or peas or anything if you like, but just mushrooms and water and salt and a little thickener and that's tasty tasty soup by itself

I’ll regularly taste minute differences in food that the rest of my family either cannot or can only begin to make out once I’ve pointed it out to them, which.... I mean I’m also by far the pickiest eater. So. Makes sense how that happened

honestly I think flour and plain oatmeal with a sufficient amount of brown sugar would be good desert. no butter no baking no nothing. just grain and sugar

Feeling like sharing the cake recipe i mentioned yesterday
Note: the measurements aren't super precise but it usually comes out okay
Note 2: its not a high riser, this cake is very short. I talked with a friend and they said that the baking powder is to not make it so dense in this case
Ingredients:
- 3 or 2 bananas depending on the size. they reccomend it ripe but honestly i think the cake has a better texture if theyre not that ripe. Not that mushy in the end
- 1 apple
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups of rolled oats/oat flakes (found those two translations) the size of the flakes don't matter much but i prefer the big flakes
- 1 cup of sugar (can be white or those fancy sugars, i dont feel much difference between them)
And as additional stuff, you can add:
A bit of cinnamon, honey, chocolate, dark chocolate (though in my opinion it overpowers all the flavours), chocolate powder and vanilla extract. the ones i add the most are cinnamon, honey and chocolate powder
Then for preparing you mush the bananas, grate the apple, and mix everything together. then add a shallow tablespoon of baking powder.
30 minutes in the oven, i usually have it between 230-250C (446-482F ). But keep it for longer if its not done by that time
(and i also leave it in the oven for a little when i turn it off to get a nice crust)

What's your favorite flour?
i genuinely do not have an answer to this. i have only ever used all purpose wheat flour or corn flour for baking so i feel totally underqualified to answer this

brain: i can vividly and intensely summon any sensation you can imagine for you to re-experience at any time
me: ok cool
brain: now have the taste of a poorly mixed pancake with a large clump of uncooked flour in the middle
