Candy for the people salivating about Boromir wearing his hair up.
I drew a little bit today for the first time since surgery! I still can't angle my arm to work on my Cintiq, but at least I can use my sketchbook for short periods. Progress, progress, progress.

One Dress a Day Challenge
September: Bond Films
On Her Majesty's Secret Service / Dame Diana Rigg as Teresa "Tracy" Draco / di Vincenzo / Bond
I considered featuring this outfit for the month of weddings in June, but I had never seen the movie, and I didn't manage to get around to it at the time. I finally watched it this month, and I cannot disagree with those who say Tracy is among the best "Bond girls" ever.
The lacy pantsuit with sheer multilayered robe over it was a bold choice for a wedding in 1969, and it remains so now; but of course, Diana Rigg pulls it off effortlessly. It was designed by Marjory Cornelius.
The ring, designed by Charles de Temple, is also interesting (see below). Two were made for the film, and one of them sold for over 50,000 pounds at an auction in 2022. The words "all the time in the world" are written around both the interior and the exterior.

A year and half in their relationship people start asking them when they're going to get married. It's hints and subtle question until Amelia doesn't ask out loud. It left both Penny and Mav looking at each other waiting for the other to answer. Amelia honey- Penny starts but is Mav who give the answer no 'Melia, we won't. Penny smiles, Mav's right, we're okay like this, but if you want a party you just have to ask, something is going to come up!
(The point is, they talked about it, when they start dating more seriously, because Mav wanted to be sure they were on the same page. Penny had smile and been there, done that never again thank you and Mav had smile back, glad we agree on that! closing his hand around the golden rings he wears with his dogtags.)

I come across "Paper Rings" lyrics, and I can't stop thinking about Swanfire. Isn't this part absolutely theirs?  "Darling, you're the one I want In paper rings, in picture frames, in dirty dreams Oh, you're the one I want I want to drive away with you I want your complications too I want your dreary Mondays Wrap your arms around me, baby boy"
YES it absolutely is!!! it fits them SO much i especially love the i want your complications and dreary mondays parts. and then i also love “i hate accidents except when we went from friends to this” and “honey without all the exes, fights, and flaws we wouldn’t be standing here so tall” paper rings really is a swanfire song 💓💓

The gym is filled with girls dressed in their cheer uniforms, the color green is starting to give you a headache, just like the sound of giggles and hushed whispers as the girls next to you talk about the latest gossip. Another supposed breakup.
This time it’s Tommy and Carol again.
Just three weeks back, you heard rumors about Steve and Nancy’s apparent breakup,  which turned out to be just a rumor, considering you’ve seen them together – maybe less than before but they are still around each other, laughing and smiling just like before.
Clearly, they are still together.
But teenagers love to make up rumors – especially about people like you and Steve. Despite both yours and his fall down the social ladder, you are still the hot topics of the school.
They love to make up rumors about your relationship or past relationship with Steve and your friendship with Eddie – or as they still like to call him, the freak.
Apparently you and Eddie had been seen making out in his van.
Apparently you and Eddie have been in a secret relationship since august, last year.
Apparently you cheated on the king with the freak.
Apparently the satan worshiper had cursed your relationship with the king – so he could have you.
Apparently you are pregnant with Eddie’s baby and living in his trailer.
Apparently you and Eddie are in love and secretly married – at least, you understand that rumor. The matching rings on both yours and his ring finger may have been the cause of it.
The pregnancy rumor made you physically sick – it made you stand in front of the mirror, checking for signs that you had gained weight. You did not, it still made you feel nauseous and you had to cancel your dinner ‘date’ with your friends.
A sigh falls from your lips when you hear Teresa talking about her future in college – Princeton to be exact. Of course the cute brunette has it all, beauty and brains. The straight A student isn’t only one of the smartest students in Hawkins High, she is also one of the prettiest – cat eyes, a small nose and big lips, she is thin but her boobs are, well, they are huge.
You wonder why you were ever crowned as the queen when girls like her exist. When girls like Heather and Chrissy exist.
You wonder why Steve ever even looked your way.
You look down at yourself, your uniform is perfectly ironed, your skin is soft and glowing after scrubbing and lathering it in moisturizer earlier this morning. You reach for the mirror in your bag, wanting to check on your makeup, one more time before the photoshooting. Your hair looks good, your make up looks good and yet, you still don’t like the way you look.
“Well, don’t you look beautiful.”
The frown on your face disappears when you hear his voice. Looking over your shoulder,  you see Eddie leaning against the doorframe. He is eying you with a smile on his face. He ignores all the nasty looks from the other cheerleaders before they continue getting ready for the little photo session with Jonathan – who is getting just as many nasty looks as Eddie does.
You put the little mirror down and walk over to him, smoothing down your skirt as you take in the sight of him. He was forced to leave his leather jacket at home and he had already been whining about it since the early morning hours. Clad in his favorite jeans and a metallica shirt, you can’t help but miss the leather on his skin – it’s his staple piece but, it’s the end of May, much to Eddie’s dismay it’s too warm to walk around with vests and jackets.
You like seeing his tattoos though and his hair in ponytail or a bun when it does get a little too warm.
“Hi,” you say, giving him a sweet smile as you halt in front of him.
He smiles down at you, tapping your nose, “hey sweetheart.”
“Wanna join the photo session?” You joke, gesturing to the girls who are still getting ready as Jonathan is setting up his tripod and his camera.
“Yeah,” Eddie says, “give me a uniform and I’m in.”
Giggling, you shake your head, “your butt would look cute in a cheer skirt.”
“Oh, not as cute as yours,” he winks, grinning at you when you look away with a blush on your cheeks.
“Are you enjoying the last day as the cheer captain?”
“You have no idea how much I wanna get rid of that title,” you laugh, “I’m ready to give that position up to Chrissy.”
You haven’t been loving cheerleading as much as you used to. Things changed, especially this year.
“I’m ready to get the hell out of here.”
“You and me both, sweetheart.”
“You know, I always thought that I’d go to college after high school,” you say as you look around the room, “but now, I’m just lost. I wouldn’t even know what to major in if I did go to college a-and I don’t even know what college I’d go to – and why am I even stressing about it, it’s too late for that now–”
Eddie places his hands on your shoulders, “I thought we settled on not stressing about our future anymore.”
“Yeah but–”
“No buts,” Eddie chuckles, “you’re taking a gap year, you still got your job at the record store and I’ll work at the garage, we’ll save up some money this summer and then–”
“And then we’ll go on that road trip.”
“Exactly,” he smiles, “we’ve been planning it for weeks now, don’t let college ruin that.”
Your shoulders slump and you sigh, “I just, I hear all of them talking about college,” you pause, gesturing to the girls behind you, “a-and it makes me think that maybe it was a mistake not to apply to any.”
His eyes soften at the worry in your eyes, he shakes his head.
“I don’t think it’s a mistake.”
“It’s not?”
“No, you got all the time in the world to join all these boring people in the normal world,” he chuckles, pulling you closer, “let’s live in our own world for a little longer,” he smiles, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear before he fixes the bow in your ponytail.
“Our dreams will be crushed the moment we step into the real world, let’s not let that happen so soon.”
You eye his face and curl of his lips as he stares at you.
“Our own world,” you smile, nodding, “I think I like that more anyways.”
“Yeah?” He grins.
“Yeah.”
“Good.”
“Good,” you repeat after him, making him chuckle.
He tilts his head with a smile on his face, “did you do your make up differently?”
“Uh yeah, I did pink eye shadow today,” you chuckle, “I’m surprised you noticed it, guys usually don’t pay attention to these things.”
“I’m offended that you think I’m one of those guys,” he jokes, placing his hand on his chest, “I notice everything about you, sweetheart.”
He notices every slight change. A different hairstyle, new clothes, the new color of your lipstick, the slightest change in your behavior, your eating habits, your struggles. He notices it all.
“You look gorgeous.”
“Thanks,” you smile but the look in your eyes isn’t genuine and it makes him frown.
“Not as gorgeous as Teresa.”
“Who the fuck is Teresa,” he mumbles in confusion.
You point to the cheerleader and Eddie follows your gaze. You watch him closely as he looks at the pretty cheerleader.
Does he think she’s gorgeous? Does he think she looks better than you? Does he think she looks sexy in her tight uniform? Does he think her boobs look good?
The reaction you expected never comes, he scrunches his face up and a look of distaste crosses his features.
“That bitch threw gum in my hair.”
A laugh tumbles from your lips, you cup your hand over your mouth when the others turn to look at you.
“That’s not funny, y/n!” Eddie frowns, though his eyes are filled with amusement, “Wayne had to cut a chunk of my hair because I couldn’t get it out.”
“Your poor hair!” You pout, reaching out to touch his curls.
Both you and Eddie are unaware of the new set of eyes watching the two of you.
Steve just left the coach’s office, passing by the gym when he heard your laughter, he couldn’t help but peek inside the open gym.
His eyes fall on you, right away.
It’s been a while since you had talked, though you had been more present in his life since the night before your birthday, you were still far from actually being back in his life. The only interactions the two of you have are the ones in the hallway or in classes, greeting one another and saying goodbye. That’s all but he wishes he would see more of you.
Things haven’t been easy in the past few weeks, he barely passed the exams, sleepless nights haunt him and his days usually consist of reading and trying to better his cooking skills – he has nothing else to do. He has no one to talk to, no one to hang out with, no one to be with, not even his parents.
He had never been more miserable than he is right now.
There you are, pressing yourself against Eddie as you play with his hair, looking happier than ever.
Eddie, who wraps his arm around your waist and looks down at you like you are the most precious thing in this world.
Steve’s eyes are filled with nothing but sadness. He doesn’t even have the power to feel jealous anymore.
“Hey Steve!”
Shit.
All eyes are now on him, including yours and Eddie’s.
Steve tears his eyes away from you and turns to look at Jonathan who is walking towards him with his camera. By the look in his eyes, Steve can tell that he wants to do anything but talk to him.
“Uh – it’s good that you’re here,” Jonathan mumbles, holding the camera up, “Principle Higgins asked for a picture of you and y/n.”
Steve’s brows furrow and confusion takes over his face, me and y/n?” He asks, “why?”
Jonathan shrugs, refraining from rolling his eyes, “cause you’re the captain of the basketball team and she’s cheer captain.”
“Oh.”
Jonathan looks away from Steve, glancing in your direction, waving you over.
You look just as confused as Steve does but you make your way over to them nonetheless.
“Hi,” you mumble to Steve before your eyes find Jonathan who stands between you two, awkwardly.
“Hey,” Steve smiles at you.
“Principle Higgins wants a picture of you two together,” Jonathan explains to you, “cause you’re both Captains.”
You raise your brows, “uh okay,” you snort, “what does the cheer captain have to do with–”
“Don’t ask me, y/n,” Jonathan chuckles as he motions for you both to follow him, “I’m just as confused.”
“That’s weird,” you mumble, glancing at Steve who’s awfully quiet.
“Let’s do it in front of the banners,” Jonathan looks over his shoulder, giving you a small smile but avoiding Steve’s eyes – you notice it.
Does he feel guilty about kissing his girlfriend? You saw them together yesterday, Nancy and Jonathan. They didn’t even bother to hide their affection. They kissed in the parking lot in front of everyone to see. All they got were a few weird looks, no one seemed to pay much attention to them – no one except for you. You stood frozen in place, a mix of confusion and anger rushing through you.
Despite the things that Steve had done to you, he still didn’t deserve that.
You didn’t know whether you should tell him or not, by the sullen look in his eyes, you can tell that he already knows.
“Alright, just uh–” Jonathan waves his hand at you and Steve, looking around awkwardly, “scoot a little closer.”
You don’t have to look around the gym to see all the eyes on you, you can feel them and you can hear the hushed whispers.
Steve ignores them but he can’t help but take a look at Eddie who is still standing in the same spot as before. He watches you.
You step closer to Steve, when he lifts his arm up for you. You place your hand on his back and he places his hand on your waist. Steve looks away from Eddie when the latter looks down.
Jonathan looks through his camera, squinting his eyes as he motions with his hand, “a little closer, y/n.”
Steve feels your body closer against his, your hand slides down to his waist, your touch fills him with a warmth that he hasn’t felt in a long time, it makes his heart beat a little faster, it fills him with life.
If a simple touch of your hand can make him feel such things, he wonders what a kiss from you would cause.
For a moment, he forgets about his surroundings and what he is supposed to be doing. The sound of chatter, whispers and giggles fly by him. His attention is on you and he basks in the feeling of being so close to you, of feeling your touch, of being able to look at you – not from afar but from such a close distance.
After a few snaps, Jonathan pulls back to look at the pictures he just took, he furrows his brows and glances up at the two of you.
“What’s wrong?” You ask, not pulling away from Steve just yet, “do I look okay?”
Jonathan huffs with a soft chuckle, “yeah, you look good but uh, Steve? You’re supposed to look into the camera,” he says awkwardly.
Your breath hitches in your throat when you look up to see him staring at you – now with a blush on his cheeks. Oh. He wasn’t looking into the camera because he was too busy looking at you.
He closes his eyes, furrowing his brows, “right.”
You can’t help but smile to yourself – a flustered Steve is not something you will ever get used to.
“Alright,” Jonathan mumbles after snapping a few more pictures, “I got it now.”
He looks up from his camera, giving Steve a tight lipped smile, “thanks Steve, you can go now,” he says before he steps away himself.
You feel the hesitation in his touch before he lets go of you, stepping away slowly.
“Alright uh, I’m gonna,” he mumbles, scratching the back of his neck as he points to the entrance.
“Yeah,” you whisper but you hesitate as well and you find yourself looking into his eyes again.
The sadness has taken over.
You know that he knows about Nancy and Jonathan.
Why is he still with her?
Why is he still with her after everything he said to you?
Why is he still with her when she is seeing someone else?
He gives you a halfhearted smile before he turns away but you stop him, reaching for his hand before he can take the first step away from you. You grip it tightly, unaware of the feeling in his heart that you had caused with yet another simple touch.
He looks down at your hand only to notice another, new ring adorning your hand. A skull ring on your ring finger – he doesn’t know why such a small item can cause him so much despair. He doesn’t have to ask to know where or who you had gotten it from.
“Are you okay?”
The softness in your voice matches the one in your eyes, it makes him want to cry.
How could he ever be okay without you in his life?
Now that he had finally dropped the act and let go of a fake love, he had nothing to hold onto anymore.
He lost his best friend, he lost the love of his life, he lost the one. All because he was an insecure coward.
The past few weeks have shown him how much he had truly ruined, how alone he really is without you in his life.
He needed to lose you to realize that you are all he ever wanted.
He doesn’t need a bunch of friends who don’t even care about him nor does he need girls chasing after him or the popularity that he no longer has or even wants.
You, he only wants you.
But he won’t fight for someone who he doesn’t deserve to have.
You look at him with worry in your eyes as you wait for him to answer your question.
No. No, he is not okay.
He has never felt more lost in his life than he does at this moment.
The emptiness in his chest is eating at him and he doesn’t know how to keep going when every day feels like hell.
Every night he stares at the bottles of expensive whiskey in his dad’s office, contemplating whether or not he should just drink until he no longer feels anything. Deep down he knows that the whiskey would just make everything so much worse.
Maybe it would lead him back to you, maybe it would lead him to the phone on his nightstand, maybe he would make the mistake of calling or even seeing you only to beg for another chance – which would only end in heartbreak.
You won’t take him back.
Steve will forever hate himself for losing you.
“Yeah,” he says, forcing a smile on his face, “I’m okay.”
And for a moment, it isn’t a lie. For a moment, he does feel okay when he still feels your hand in his, when he sees the worry and the softness in your beautiful eyes and the necklace around your neck, the locket that he gave you. You are wearing it. And that alone is enough for his heart to flutter and for the emptiness in his chest to disappear – even if only temporary.
He avoids your eyes and that proves to you that he isn’t okay but just like he never pressured you, you don’t do it either.
“A-Are you going to college?” You ask, not wanting him to go so soon.
Your question surprises him, it’s been a long time since you had initiated a conversation.
“No,” he says, shaking his head. “It doesn’t seem really appealing to me.”
“But you wanted to go to college, Steve.”
He runs his fingers through his hair, tilting his head with a small chuckle.
“That uh, that was our dream. I only wanted to go to college with you.”
His hand is still in yours, his sad eyes are still gazing into yours.
“You wanted to go to college with me?” Your eyes widen when he nods, “for me?”
“Yeah,” he breathes, “I couldn’t stand the thought of being away from you so,” he trails off as he watches the way sadness crosses your features.
Your heart jumps at his words.
“That’s uh, that’s funny,” you laugh, “cause I couldn’t stand the thought of being away from you so I always told you that I had this huge college dream when I never even knew what I actually wanted.”
Steve’s brows furrow and his eyes fill with confusion but also with amusement.
“Really?” He chuckles.
“Yeah.”
His eyes crinkle and his smile widens.
“Wow. We would’ve gone to college together not knowing that it’s something neither of us wanted,” he says, “unless it’s something that you want now?”
“Oh no,” you mumble, “I-I’m not going to college. For now, I’m stuck at the record store which is actually being moved to Starcourt soon.”
His eyes light up.
“Oh, the record store is being moved?”
“Yeah!”
“I guess we’ll keep seeing each other then.”
While the thought leaves him with excitement, it must leave you with annoyance – at least that’s what he thinks.
The look on your face is puzzled.
“I got a job at the ice cream parlor,” he clears his throat, “Scoops Ahoy.”
Suddenly, he feels embarrassed and his cheeks heat up. You used to date a king, a popular guy, the captain of the basketball team with his apparent bright athlete future.
And now he is just Steve Harrington who barely got his diploma, who threw his athlete future down the drain to work at an ice cream parlor. How humiliating.
Your jaw drops and your eyes widen, “no way! Scoops Ahoy?”
“Yeah..”
“Oh my god!” You giggle excitedly. “I’ll be your regular.”
Steve can’t help but laugh at your enthusiasm.
“You did love your ice cream.”
“Yeah, I still do.”
You are still smiling at him and he can’t help but smile back at you. This almost feels like a dream – standing here with your hand still in his, laughing and smiling with you like the past no longer matters.
“Y/n!” Chrissy calls for you.
You tear your eyes away from his and glance over his shoulder.
Chrissy motions for you to join her and the other cheerleaders – who are all trying to hide the fact that they were just staring at you and Steve.
“Come on!” She says as she glares at Steve’s back.
“Yeah, I’m coming.”
Steve’s face falls, though his smile still lingers when you look back at him. You remove your hand from his.
“So uh, I guess I’ll see you around?”
He nods, “yeah,” he mumbles.
You step away from him but this time, he stops you. With a hand on your wrist and your name falling from his lips, he makes you halt in your tracks.
You look back at him with raised brows.
His soft eyes make your heart race, his touch makes you feel warm.
“You look beautiful.”
“Thank you,” you whisper.
He knows you don’t believe it, you never did, no matter how many times he told you these words, you never believed them.
“The locket looks good on you,” he smiles.
You place your other hand on your chest, touching the locket, “thanks, I love it.”
Chrissy rolls her eyes, watching the interaction between you and Steve. Annoyed at the affection and the smiles you are giving him, she forces herself to look away.
Steve always finds a way to sneak his way back into your life. He doesn’t deserve you, not after everything that happened.
She knows that you might never stop loving him but she hopes that your love for him won’t stop you from letting another one in. She narrows her eyes, glancing at the metalhead who is still standing by the door, watching you with an intense look on his face, one that can only be described as jealousy.
It’s the same look you always wore when you saw Steve with other girls.
She sighs, shaking her head.
Chrissy might not be a close friend of Eddie’s but she knows that his feelings for you are nowhere near platonic and she knows that what you are feeling might be deeper than that too, though you are still oblivious, too focused on your feelings for your ex boyfriend.
She hopes that you will let go of them someday.
-
The first big summer storm hits the town of Hawkins on a Friday afternoon. The rain is falling down harshly from the sky, the wind is howling through the trees, the bright lighting lights up the darkened sky every few seconds as the thunder crashes loudly.
The streets are empty as the water flushes down the road.
Of course you had to come to the library today.
You should’ve come here tomorrow, you should’ve stayed home.
You tried to leave the library when the storm just started but the librarian, an elderly woman named Margaret, refused to let you leave. She forced a book into your hand and told you to take a seat by the window.
She didn’t even let you put up a fight. She offered you a cup of coffee and told you to wait out the storm.
It’s been an hour but the storm is still raging and you are becoming restless. You hate being stuck in public places.
You take the book that she gave you and leave the table, giving her a tight lipped smile as you pass by the counter.
“Don’t worry, I’m not trying to sneak out,” you whisper to her when she gives you a pointed look.
“You better not, young lady,” she says with a mean voice but her eyes are kind.
You chuckle at her, flashing her a smile before you disappear into the aisle where the shelves are filled with nothing but dramatic romances and sad love stories – your favorites.
The smell of paper and coffee, the sound of rain and thunder fills you with a nostalgic feeling. You love these types of afternoons, sitting down with a book you love, listening to the rain paddling down the windows after you light up your favorite candle and drinking a hot cup of coffee – too bad you did not stay at home, you could have done just that.
As you walk down the aisle and you trace the books, trying to find one that calls for you, you don’t find a story that you would love to read, instead, you find the girl that has been the cause of a lot of pain in your life.
You halt in your tracks when you find her sitting in the little nook by the window. A large book resting on her lap.
You don’t know why you freeze, why you don’t just walk away, why you keep standing there like a fool as you stare at the girl that stole your boyfriend – ex boyfriend.
She glances up from her book when she feels your eyes on her.
For a moment, she freezes too and stares back at you.
What are you doing? Just walk away. The angel on your shoulder whispers, trying to save you from the awkwardness of this situation.
No. Confront her. Tell her what you saw.
You were never one to let the devil win. You were always a good, obedient girl. Always listening to the things the good ones whispered to you. Always doing what you were supposed to do. Always being kind and sweet to everyone around you. Always doing the right thing.
Maybe that is where you went wrong, by doing the apparent right things.
But you never did what you wanted to do.
So you let the devil for once – or maybe the devil is actually the angel and the angel that has been whispering all these discouraging words to you, is actually the devil in disguise,  waiting for you to fail, changing your mind about the things that you want.
“Can I help you?” Nancy asks slowly.
You notice that her hair is shorter than it used to be, a few of her curls fall from the clip that is holding her hair together.
“No,” you shake your head.
She furrows her brows when you make your way over to her.
“But there’s something that I wanted to talk to you about.”
“You wanted to talk to me?” She asks, pointing between the two of you.
Surprised that you want to talk to her now.
You nod.
Nancy can’t help but feel nervous. Despite her dislike for you, she is aware of her wrongs. You have every right to be angry at her – if you are angry at her.
“I saw you with Jonathan.”
She tilts her head, eyes straying from you. She looks confused.
“What?”
You cross your arms over your chest, the bracelet around your wrist slides down a little.
“I saw you kissing him.”
“So?”
“So?”
Now you feel the anger rushing through you.
Does she not feel ashamed?
You scoff, shaking your head in disbelief.
“I should be the last person to care about this but I still care about him,” you start as you stare into her confused eyes, “what are you doing is disgusting.”
Nancy begins to understand a little but a part of her still leaves her with a big question mark.
“I shouldn’t be defending him but I know that he is a good person, despite everything,” you murmur the last part with an eye roll, “and I know that he is good to you.”
Nancy straightens her back, she pushes the book off of her lap and holds her hands up, “okay, uh I’m a little confused.”
“Oh, you’re confused?” You mumble, trying to keep your voice down, “you’re confused about the fact that you are cheating – openly?”
Technically, you are not wrong. She did cheat but not anymore.
“I’m not cheating,” she mumbles, “we’re not together anymore.”
Silence fills the space between the two of you. The only sound you both hear is the thunder and the rain outside before you speak up after a long pause.
“What?” You ask and Nancy realizes that you don’t know.
How do you not know about the break up?
How do you not know that he left her?
She stands up and crosses her arms over her chest, mimicking your pose.
“Steve broke up with me.”
You are stunned. These news are something you did not expect.
“A few weeks ago, actually,” she explains, “when he came back from you.”
Oh.
He broke up with her, the night before your birthday, after seeing you.
“I’m not cheating on Steve. Jonathan and I, we’re together.”
So, the rumors were true, after all.
They broke up – he broke up with her.
“Oh.”
Nancy looks you up and down. There you stand, wide eyed, confused and definitely unaware of the break up that happened so long ago.
“You didn’t… know?”
You shake your head and you lean your body against the shelf behind you.
“No, I-I didn’t know.”
You had almost forgotten about the raging storm when a bolt of lightning strikes through the sky and the lights in the library flicker for a few seconds.
You draw in a long sharp breath and look down.
Why didn’t he tell you? You wonder.
Nancy asks herself the same thing. Why did Steve not tell you about the break up? Why didn’t he call you the way he called her after he broke up with you?
The two of you stand in front of each other, shocked.
And as Nancy takes a closer look at you, as she sees the slight frown, the look in your eyes, the tension in your shoulders, the hand over your heart. She knows. She knows that there is still something.
You are still processing the news, she can tell by the way your eyes flicker back and forth as though you are trying to piece something together.
“Wait so.. you heard the rumors and you didn’t… think they were true?”
Your hair falls in front of your face when you lift your head, you don’t bother to push it away.
“I– well, I…I saw you two together a lot, so, it was hard to believe the rumors.. you know?”
Nancy nods in understanding.
“I get it… Then, the rumors with Eddie are not true?”
For a moment, you think about her question before you turn your head to look at her with a frown.
“The one I’m pregnant? The one where he sacrificed a lamb to get my undying love and devotion? The one where I cheated on Steve? Which one of them all?”
Nancy’s eyes widen.
She can’t help but snort at all those rumors. Shaking her head with an amused smile, she looks down with furrowed brows, “trust me, even I know Munson looks scary but probably is a fan of Garfield or something,” she chuckles.
A smile tugs at your lips.
“He does have Garfield pajamas.”
She looks at you with a stunned expression before you both burst into giggles.
Nancy shakes her head again as the smile fades away.
“And no, not the pregnant one either.. Jesus,” she sighs. Her eyes find your body again, she looks you up and down with a look that you cannot read.
Suddenly, you feel self conscious again. You feel the urge to wrap your arms around your waist, wanting to hide your body.
But her words aren’t ones that you expected.
“If you’re pregnant with a body like that, is the baby like smushed to the very back?”
Your breath gets caught in your throat. Your eyes widen at her words and you restrain yourself from gasping or holding your hand in front of your mouth or your stomach.
Nancy had spent so much time feeling jealous of you, of what you had – because at one point, she thought that you had everything. Beauty, popularity, friends and a guy who was hopelessly in love with you. You had it all and when she got a taste of what you had, she wanted it. She wanted him. She painted a false picture of you in her head, to make herself feel better about stealing from you.
Though, the false picture in her head didn’t stay for long, it started crumbling the moment she walked into the girls bathroom to hear you crying. She knew it was you, the backpack that laid on the ground had a pin of The Cure on the front, one that only you had.
After that, she began to pay attention to you.
She saw the way you looked at Steve, weeks, months after he left you.
She saw the sadness, the heartbreak, the pain in your eyes and the love that never left.
She saw the way you looked at the other girls and the way you looked at yourself. The way you stayed in the locker room, a little longer than the other girls.
The way you looked at her and compared yourself to her.
All because of him.
“Y-You look amazing is what I’m trying to say,” Nancy says nervously.
A flush creeps up to your face as you gape at her.
To hear it from Steve or even Eddie is one thing, to hear it from a girl who bashed on you, who belittled you is a whole other thing. It feels.. good.
“T-Thank you..”
Nancy clears her throat, suddenly feeling embarrassed. Desperately wanting to kill the awkward tension, she goes back to your previous question.
“No… The one where you and Eddie are dating.”
It takes you a moment to realize what she means. Your mouth falls open and recognition dawns your face.
“No, it’s not true either. None of them are,” you brows knit together, “wait, why did you think it was true?”
There’s amusement in her features as she takes in the sight of your confused face. She shrugs, “you’re always clinging to one another, and you guys literally kiss on the cheek! Like, who does that to a friend? And– you sit on his lap! It’s hard not to think you two have something going on!”
You press your hands together, laughing awkwardly, “uh, well, that’s how best friends interact,” you say these words with a twinge of pain in your chest but you don’t understand it, the reasoning behind the pain is unclear to you.
“Trust me, that’s not how best friends interact with each other – or look at each other,” she adds quietly.
“L-Like what?”
She stares at you in amusement, albeit a little bewildered.
“You’re a little oblivious, aren’t you?”
“Oblivious to what?”
She looks away from you with a small smile, glancing out the window, she pretends to be surprised, “oh, it looks like the storm finally stopped!” She points out.
The storm had indeed stopped, though the one inside of you, has just begun.
Nancy reaches for the book on the nook. She grabs her bag and turns back to you, “I gotta go home. Jonathan and my mom must be worried.”
You follow her with your eyes, staring at her desperately.
She looks over her shoulder after passing by you, “one piece of advice? Pay attention.”
And with that, Nancy Wheeler leaves you standing in the empty aisle.
“What?”

eres mía
Tumblr media
pairing: miguel o’hara x reader
warnings: arranged marriage, unprotected p in v (wrap it b4 u tap it), oral (f and m receiving), miguel calling you a slut (affectionately LOL), and just overall smut
author’s note: hi :) so this is my first time writing smut/fanfic, so it’s probably not that good lol 🫣 but anyways hope you enjoy. i got this idea from listening to ‘eres mía’ by romeo santos, i’ll leave it down below if you wanna listen 🫡
word count: 2372
"Por favor no te cases con él!" [please don't get married to him!]
A voice you haven't heard in three months, four days, and nine hours (not that you've been counting or anything) echoed through the chapel, muffling the sounds of the wedding bells ringing. His voice. You stopped in your tracks, knuckles turning white from how hard you were gripping the bouquet, feeling everyone's stares go from you to the man who was here to stop your wedding. You turned to meet his gaze, seeing how devastatingly handsome he looked in a black suit, his red eyes boring into yours.
The last time you'd seen Miguel O'Hara was when you had been at his apartment, breaking up with him. You'd spent the day at his apartment, going from watching 'Teresa' to cuddling on the couch. He was standing over the stove, checking that the pozole wasn't burning when you came up to him, asking to talk.
"What do you wanna talk about, chiquita hermosa?" [pretty little one]
"I think we should break up, this isn't working out for us anymore."
"Is this you or your mother talking?"
The question made you stop talking, tears collecting in your eyes as you looked down in shame. "You know what's expected of me, Miguel," you murmured, looking up at him through tear stricken eyes. "I do know what's expected of you, but that doesn't mean I agree with you marrying some stranger just because of the business boost," he said, grabbing your chin to look up at you as he wiped the tears away. "I'm sorry Mig, pero tengo que hacer lo que me piden," [but i have to do what they ask from me] you spoke up a couple seconds later, noting the way his brows furrowed as you spoke. "Espero que seas feliz, corazón. Nunca amaré a alguien como te amo a ti," [I hope you're happy, sweetheart. I'll never love anyone the way I love you] he whispered, kissing your forehead and keeping you in his embrace for just a couple seconds more.
Wedding arrangements were quickly made after you told your mother that you finally ended things with Miguel, from going to get the dress fitted to getting a venue booked for a fall wedding. You'd managed to catch a break a week before your wedding and decided to go out with your friend bar-hopping since your soon-to-be husband was out of the country again.
"So tell me again why you're planning on marrying this piece of shit if it's clear as day he's cheating on you?" your friend, Percy, asked as she took a sip from her margarita, her brows furrowed. "I mean, in his defense, we don't actually expect to fall in love y'know? plus, it's for business purposes and whatever," you tried your best to explain but the situation sounded stupid even to you. "I get that you want to make your parents happy with this marriage/business deal, but what about your own happiness? Is it really worth it to be in a loveless marriage just so your dad's happy?" she asked, her hands on top of yours as worry etched on to her features. You'd decided to change the conversation to a safer topic, because you were aware that deep down, she and Miguel were right.
And now you were here, standing in between the love of your life and the man that was pre planned for you to marry. Before you had a chance to say anything though, your mom quickly tugged you to the side, steam practically coming out of her ears. "Yo pensé que ya no estabas con ese muchacho! ¿Qué esta haciendo aquí?!" [ I thought you weren't with that boy anymore! What is he doing here?] your mom asked as she avoided the gazes from all the tias murmuring amongst themselves. "Yo no estoy con él! Yo no sé que hace aqui," [I'm not with him! I don't know what he's doing here] you tried to explain yourself as your mom paced around the hallway, shaking her head. "Do you know the amount of shame you've brought into this family with his little stunt? Your father gave you everything just for you to turn out to be a disappointment!" she screamed, standing a couple feet from you as she tugged at the roots of her hair, "Ve adentro y dile a ese bueno para nada que se vaya!" [go inside and tell that no good to leave]
You walked inside once more, walking all the way to the altar as the word 'disappointment' rang in your head. You quickly realized that even if you did this, it wouldn't give you the love that you wanted from your parents or the love that Miguel had given you once upon a time. You'd craved that love from your parents for so long, that you were willing to set yourself as a transactional token. As your fiancé decided to start reciting the vows he'd gotten off Google, you decided to speak up. "I'm sorry but I can't get married to this man. And I'm sorry to everyone for wasting your time."
You heard the mumbling that was building up in the chapel get louder as you stepped outside, full blown yelling coming from your mom. You looked over to the side, seeing Miguel sitting there with his hands in between his knees. "Hey, is this seat taken?" you asked, tapping his shoulder as he scooted over, looking at you with a smile.
"¿Qué paso, chiquita?" [what happened, little one?]
"I realized that despite all this, my parents still won't love me, so might as well chase my own happiness."
"Perdon por arruinarte la boda, pero es que no podía verte infeliz con ese tipo." [sorry for ruining your wedding, but I couldn't stand seeing you unhappy with that guy]
"I'll admit, it was kind of a big entrance, but I liked it. Thank you Miguelito, for fighting for us even if I haven't done the same."
"You're someone worth fighting for, mi cielito lindo. [pretty sweetheart] Even if your parents haven't shown you that."
"Hey Miguel?"
"¿Sí?" [yes?]
"Take me home."
Miguel carried you bridal style into the apartment you were so familiar with, dropping you carefully on the bed. "Espera te cierro los ojos que quiero intentar algo," he whispered into your ear once he placed you down, putting a blindfold on you. [hold on I'm gonna close your eyes, I want to try something] A couple seconds of Miguel humming to himself later, he took off the blindfold to reveal small candles lit around the room. "I know it's not the honeymoon you wanted but I hope it's still good," he said, rubbing the back of his head as he sat down on the bed next to you. "Esta perfecto, Miguel. Solo te necesito a ti," you reassured him, placing your hand on top of his. [it's perfect Miguel. I only need you]
He got on his knees, pulling your legs to drape over his shoulders as he kissed up your legs, his fangs gently grazing on the skin. He took his time kissing up your legs, kissing gently on your inner thighs, laughing silently as he ignored the way you squirmed to get your pussy closer to his face. He pressed a small kiss on the front of your panties, taking them off with his teeth, sliding them down your legs slowly. He tentatively licked your folds before delving in, his tongue plunging into your hole with no warning. You let out a moan, fingers flying to intertwine themselves in his hair as he continued to make out with your pussy.
Miguel sucked on your clit, circling his tongue around the bud as his finger plunged inside of you, instantly finding the spot that had you curling your toes and gripping his hair tighter. His tongue and fingers switched places a couple seconds later, his mouth exploring every inch of your spongy walls as his thumb rubbed your clit, basking in every single one of your moans. "Miguel, i'm about to-" you managed to say before you came all over his tongue, your hand limp against his hair. He sucked on your pussy, looking up at you as his mouth glistened from your juices. He leaned in, giving you a passionate kiss as he intertwined his hand in your hair.
You discarded of your wedding dress, leaving you in that white, almost angelic looking, white lacy bra and a garter, getting on your knees in front of Miguel. His claws ripped your bra apart, throwing it to the side as he bent down to take care of the garter on your legs. You kissed his tip, leaving small kisses down the shaft before you took his tip in your mouth. You started to slowly swirl your tongue around his tip, taking in his every moan and breathy gasp, his hands moving to both sides of your head. You take more of him in your mouth, looking up at him, his eyes meeting yours.
"Ay nena. [baby] Such a good little cocksucker for me," he moaned out, his hand caressing your cheek. You felt you felt your pussy clench around nothing as he praised you, calling you 'his good cocksleeve' and 'his pretty little slut'. "Let me fuck your face, princesa dulce," he told you, more as a warning than a question. [sweet princess] You stuck your tongue out flat as he started to thrust slowly into your mouth, wiping away the tears that were rolling down. "Que puta tan bonita," he moaned, the tip of his cock hitting the back of your throat as he started to slip in and out of your mouth faster. [what a pretty whore/slut] Your tongue glided across the shaft as he thrusted inside your mouth, his cum shooting deep into your throat. You stuck your tongue out after you swallowed it, watching him lean down and kiss you.
He slid inside of you slowly, feeling your walls clamp around his cock like a vice, his lips kissing your chest as he murmured sweet nothings into your skin. "You're doing so well for me, sweet girl," he whispered, sliding another deliciously painful inch inside, your hands gripping his back as he did so. He slowly retracted, trying to make the accommodation easier for you, before sliding in once more. He continued with the slow thrusts, your pussy eventually opening up to accommodate his length. He started speeding up, his hips slapping against your ass, his lips letting out small whimpers as he kissed your stomach. "Que puta tan hermosa que eres. Y solo para mi," he moaned, his lips moving to kiss your neck, his fangs digging in. [what a pretty whore you are. and just for me] "Solo para ti," you affirmed, your hips moving to meet his thrusts to the best of your ability as your hands raked down his back, marking him as yours. [just for you] You felt the all too familiar coil tightening in your lower stomach as your pussy walls tightened around his cock, your hands gripping on his shoulders. "Come for me, mi reina," he moaned, thrusting in deeply as his thumb circled around your clit, the action making you clench around him tightly before releasing. [my queen]
He flipped you over, massaging your ass before dipping a finger in your pussy, licking your juices and letting out a low moan. "Taste so good," he whispered before he slipped his cock inside you once more, his hands grabbing onto your hips. Your previous orgasm allowed him to slip in with ease, your pussy walls engulfing his cock. He started thrusting faster after he made sure that you weren't feeling too much pain, the only sounds in the room being skin slapping and your combined moaning. He lifted his hand up, slapping your ass before grabbing your hair in a makeshift ponytail, pulling your back to his chest as he littered kisses on your shoulder. He wanted to mark himself on your body, as his way to make sure you wouldn't leave him again. He thrusted deeper, the tip of his cock bruising your cervix, watching as you writhed and moaned underneath him.
You gripped the bedsheets, your mouth in a 'o' shape as you felt your incoming orgasm, your pussy walls clamping around him like a vice. "I'm almost there," he moaned out, his hands gripping your hips tightly as his thrusts started to get sloppier. You moved your hips against his, your orgasm coming in waves as you clenched around him tightly. "Squeezing me so good, mama," his voice came out breathier than expected as he continued moving against you, his orgasm coming moments after. He pulled his softening cock out, plunging two fingers in you to stuff the cum back inside.
Miguel got up from the bed a couple minutes after you two cuddled, walking over to the bathroom and turning on the faucet. He walked over to you once more, brushing the hair out of your face as he smiled, kissing your forehead. "The bath's almost ready," he said, grabbing you up from the bed and carrying to the bathroom. He'd poured in your favorite scented bath bomb and grabbed some of the candles from the bedroom, placing them on the counter with the lights dimmed. He set you down on the bath before sitting behind you, his hands gently rubbing circles on your back.
He left small kisses on your neck as his hands moved to give your back and shoulders a small massage. "I missed you," he sighed, turning you to look at him, a look of longing on his face. "I'm sorry for everything, for picking my family over you," you whispered, a small tear drop falling, his finger wiping it off your cheek. "Lo importante es que ya estas conmigo, cariño," he whispered reassuringly, lifting your chin up to kiss you, pulling away a couple seconds later, saying, "Porque te quería preguntar ¿que si te puedes casar conmigo?" [the important thing is that you're finally with me, sweetheart/because i wanted to ask if you would marry me]

Tumblr media
When Olivia was born, Marcus’ life had taken a completely different turn, he had always been a man who dreamed of a family, didn't work with his first wife, then he moved on through a series of relationships that never seemed to take him anywhere until he met Teresa Lisbon. He wouldn't be able to tell why he fell for her as had as he did, he wasn't dumb or clueless as some people assume, he knew she wasn't into him as much as he was into her, and even if that hurt him deep down inside, he thought eventually things would fall right back into place, if she had said yes to his invitation to ditch those pizzas after the end of their mission for pancakes, and then to start sleeping at his place, then going out on a regular basis, until he simply proposed to her in the middle of the hallway at work, it wasn't the most romantic thing he could've done, he was usually a traditional guy, wedding ring, nice dinner, maybe even a serenade and an exchange of love vows before popping the real question, but he did what he could at that moment, what the occasion allowed and thinking of it in retrospect, it was actually a good thing he didn't waste that much time, effort and money into that proposal, because well, even if Marcus Pike was overall a gentle and understanding man, he also would have appreciated if she said no instead of leading him into believing she actually wanted to marry him. It would've hurt him at the time, but just like ripping off a band-aid, it would be quick and straightforward and the pain would go away faster than it did when she cooked him up, giving him hopes for a future together.
So when Teresa broke his heart and treated him as if he was barely an acquaintance to her, he became wary. He didn't like to think of relationships and he closed himself up to any kind of flirtation and stuff like that. He was going through so many changes into his life: a new city, a new position at work, now he wasn't just agent Pike, he was the head of the art department of the FBI, he was a boss, he had more responsibility and less free time, and even if Marcus was aware of his looks and the fact both men and women found him attractive, the fact he was an intelligent man, he made good money and carried a bunch of positive adjectives that could easily get him a possible list of interested women, he chose to step away. So when he met you, he straight up ignored his feelings, the way his palms got sweaty, how pleasant your perfume was and the way his stupid heart skipped a beat whenever you displayed your gorgeous smile at him. A part of him desperately wanted to connect with you, get to know you better, ask you out on a date, and another part of himself begged him not to do it, knowing he wouldn't be able to take another harsh strike of rejection and start over again. Marcus wasn't an old man, he was getting close to middle age, and even if a part of him kept hauntingly reminding him of the fact he hadn't been able to build up a family at that age, he was also so hopeful he was still too young to give up love.
Eventually he couldn't fight his desire for you and a simple lunch between you both escalated to a series of regular dates, and whereas all of his relationships followed the same course of an organized timeline: getting to know each other, officially dating, getting engaged and finally getting married. You, on the other hand, was a complete different ride, it seemed you were going through the same path, following the same stages until you weren't anymore and you showed up at his door on a Thursday night with teary eyes and a pregnancy test in hands, just a few months after you two started dating. That was a whole new ride for him; he was not expecting to become a father even if he wanted to, it still felt too sudden, you both were having more fun than actually having a commitment together, and if he was going to be honest, he didn't actually want to jump into marriage right then, it was risky, scary and he felt it was doomed to be another failure in his love life, he was willing to step up and be a dad to the baby you both were going to have in a matter of months, but he was torn between not wanting to get married just then - as Marcus Pike wasn't opposed to marriage at all - and not wanting to be seen as the asshole who didn't marry the woman he got pregnant. It didn't matter what his colleagues, his family or friends thought of him at that matter, he just didn't want to be seen like that by you. So when you had a heartfelt conversation with him, opening up and listing the reasons why you didn't want to get married he felt a wave of relief over him. You both got to an agreement: you would co-parent your baby, Marcus would pay you child support and everyone would be happy. Even if there was still a lot of mixed feelings, words left unspoken and the prospect of a successful relationship that didn't have enough time to mature on its own, so it was better to close the agreement in being co-parents and friends, it was better than nothing.
You couldn't complain at all, even if you buried deep your feelings for Marcus, he was definitely the best guy to have a baby with, for once, he actually cared about it, he was genuinely happy to become a father even if you weren't a couple any longer, he still made sure to go to all the appointments and exams he was able to, work still got in the way of one or two but he made it to as many as he could. Marcus wouldn't miss the opportunity to get his baby girl whatever he thought she might like some day: toys, clothes, blankets, little shoes. It was a pleasure to spend on her. You still remembered the day he found out you were expecting a girl: he cried. He was never strong enough to hold back his emotions, not when you had a new ultrasound in progress and he could hear his baby's heartbeats loud and clear. And he cried again when you gave birth, he was there the whole time, holding your hand, looking almost as terrified as you were, and the moment her strong little lungs let out a loud wail, you could see the tears running down his cheek freely, warming and melting your heart, mixed up with the pang of not being with Marcus, not going home with him at the end of the day, but with the peaceful assurance you had the luck to find a great man to have a child with.
Olivia was the name picked in agreement by the two of you, but Marcus simply called her Livy, she was his Livy, his sweet tiny little Livy, and even when you asked him why he'd chosen that nickname he shrugged, not having a meaningful or strong explanation, he just liked the sound of it, it made his heart swell with love just to picture the face of that one beautiful princess who would be called his Livy Pike.
The first time you were surprised by the nickname was an odd - but very pleasant evening - you'd spent next to Marcus. He usually had the habit of letting you know when he was going to drop a visit or even call and see if he was allowed to, but that night he got to your place unannounced, looking like he'd had a rough day. He refused your offers to serve him a beer, a glass of wine or even make dinner, he simply asked you to spend some time with you and Olivia, who was still safely tucked in your womb. There was no denying his request, you nodded and lay back on the couch, while he placed his hand on your lap, his face resting against your warm, round pregnant belly and talking to his baby girl. He whispered a bunch of sweet nothings to her, in hopes she would be able to recognize his voice and know how much she was already loved by him. He caressed the sides of your stomach, while your hand went to his smooth, messy hair, playing with his growing curls, exactly the way you used to when you both were a couple, having a glimpse of what life would be like if you two had stayed together after the shock of the pregnancy turned into happiness.
What you didn't know was that Marcus wasn't just having a rough day, it had been more than that, more than just a rough week, it'd been a rough few months. Months of investigation of what was supposed to be pieces of art trafficking, it was supposed to be just about paintings, sculptures and statues being trafficked, but unfortunately, it'd been more than that. It was all a facade for a much worse operation: human trafficking. And that made Marcus so miserable and depressed, he just needed to be reminded there was still something good in the world, he needed time with you and his precious little Livy.
He glanced at your Christmas tree and realized Christmas would be in a few days. He'd been so involved in the investigation and all the tension and stress that comes with it, he had barely acknowledged the upcoming holiday. He hadn't even decorated his apartment like he usually did, he hadn't even bought himself his plane tickets to fly back to Texas and see his family. There was still so much he needed to do but the realization that was going to be the last Christmas he would spend without having a tiny baby in his arms and finally having a little someone call him ‘daddy’, made him smile.
“She'll be here, celebrating with us, next year”
•••
Olivia's first Christmas was going to be printed in Marcus’ memories forever. He didn't actually spend Christmas day with her, as he traditionally went back to his hometown to see his family, but he made sure to get everything done in advance: house decoration, presents, gift-wrapping and everything a dad should be up to on such a special date. Before his baby girl was born, he didn't see the point in decorating only for himself; of course he would set small Christmas tree ornaments and call it a decoration, but that was about it. However, after his precious Olivia came to the world to brighten his life, he felt he owed it to her all the magic he could display. So in a matter of days, Marcus had purchased a brand new Christmas tree, several ornaments and lights and seeing his baby's excited face paid off. One of Pike's favorite memories was when he left a nearly one-year-old Olivia playing with her blocks on the living room carpet for a split second, just to make sure her vegetable soup was ready and returned to find her giggling self ripping off the gift wrap of one of the presents underneath the tree. She didn't know she was supposed to wait a couple of days more, she didn't know technically that was her mama's present, what her daddy had bought you, she just got mesmerized at the bright beautiful colors and went to explore. Marcus felt like he was going to explode into a puddle of love for his daughter. He was truly blessed and forever thankful to you for having got the best present of all.
And so another couple of Christmas passed and his beautiful, lovely, princess Olivia was now a gorgeous and adorable three-year-old toddler, almost going four, which meant Marcus’ heart was often balanced between the pang of seeing his baby grow way too fast and the pride he felt of seeing her blossom into an extraordinary child.
•••
“Higher daddy, higher!” Olivia squealed with happiness and excitement as her dad lifted her up, his grip tight on her sides so she wouldn't slip as she held the angel ornament and put it on top of the tree with tiny little hands. She felt the thrill of being held up so high, because Olivia loved how strong her daddy was and how he always made her fly on his arms; she loved spending weekends at his daddy's place, even if she'd rather have her mommy with them, she still had a lot of fun. Looking around the living, where she had helped her daddy decorate everything, made her happy, she loved the lights, the tree and the little Christmas ballerinas that dance to a sad but beautiful song inside that box. Her daddy had explained to her that it was called “art” and both him and her mommy really liked it, and that art thing made them feel many different things, that was why sometimes something was so pretty that could make her cry.
But Olivia had no time to cry, she was too busy spying the gifts that began to gather around the living room. She knew some were for her, some were for mommy and some were for grandma and grandpa, but most of them were for her. Marcus pulled his daughter closer, snuggling her and feeling her heart beating fast inside her chest. He loved that tiny little princess with all his being, and sometimes such love was overwhelming, as he never really thought he could have something as good as that. He thought of you and his heart dropped a little, picturing what things would have been like if you both had gotten married once you found out about Olivia, he knew you wanted to be free, to work and finish your studies, but he was never oppose to that, if anything, he would've supported you just the same. Even if he wasn't in the right state of mind for a marriage, he still enjoyed picturing you as his wife. He would buy you a beautiful diamond ring, make sure you were happy and satisfied with the life he could provide you, but after some time, he just accepted that maybe the timing wasn't good and his chance was over. Simple as that.
As he put Olivia down and walked to the kitchen with her, he held her hand, who was excitedly waiting for her mac&cheese. His daddy wasn't as much of a good cook as her mommy was, but his mac&cheese was the best in the whole wide world. He served her some in her pink plastic plate and chuckled to see her kicking her legs absent-mindedly while waiting for dinner. Marcus sighed, you were back in his mind, imagine how many family dinners you three could have had together over these years. Of course there were plenty of times you invited Marcus over for dinner, or he did the same with you whenever you were there to pick up Olivia, but it wasn't the same and he just knew it.
“Are you excited for Christmas, baby girl?” He asked Olivia, who chewed her food eagerly, loving the taste of it, seeing her nod and smile.
“I wish we spent it together daddy, you, me and mommy” she pouted, looking like a tiny puppy, which broke Marcus’ heart. He hated that he could never spend that special time with his precious Livy and even more so that you weren't there as well. He cleared his throat and caressed her cheek, her face being tiny against the palm of his hand.
“I'd love that too, honey, but you know, you spend Christmas with mama and I go back to Texas to see grandma and grandpa” he offered her a smile “unless mama let me take you, would you like to go with dada? I bet you'd love to spend a sunny and warm Christmas playing in the pool with your cousins..”
Marcus knew better than anyone he shouldn't really hype up kids the way he just did, but he was also caught in the moment, for a moment he had a glimpse of what spending Christmas day with his daughter would be like, where she could actually visit his parents' home, see his childhood bedroom and the toys he used to play with when he was her age, he would like Olivia to be able to spend that holiday under the warm sun, in one of her gorgeous little dresses, and not in the snowy gray weather of DC. At that moment, he took a decision: he was going to talk to you about it, you had a good relationship, he was sure all it would take was a good conversation and you would let him have Olivia for the holidays, everyone would be happy at end: they would be able to spend more time together and you would have a well-deserved break from the maternity duty.
When you showed up two hours after the time you were supposed to have picked up your daughter, Marcus was aware of your delay, having read the texts you sent warning him of how things at work got complicated and later on how traffic was simply impossible, he did what he could to make your life a little easier, and that included bathing Olivia and helping her into her beautiful reindeer jammies and tucking her in. Then he prepared you a big sandwich, after all, he couldn't cook even if his life depended on it, but if there were two things he could make like a champ, was definitely his mac&cheese and his gigantic sandwiches. He immediately opened the door to you, getting lost into you. You were so beautiful, your body was mesmerizing, your smile was enough to make his heart flutter and for a moment he couldn't believe a woman as gorgeous as you could have been with him, and not only that, you could have had a baby with him. After so many rejections in life, it was still quite difficult for him to believe that was even possible. The way you looked at him, with your eyes sparkling, the same sweet innocence your daughter carried and how small snowflakes were still on your hair, made him fall in love with you just a little bit harder than usual. Even if it was an impossible love to live, it didn't mean it wasn't there.
He invited you inside, which you gladly accepted, greeting him politely and taking off your coat. He guided you to the kitchen, where he'd prepared you something to warm up - hot chocolate - and a big sandwich, sitting next to you, and loving every single minute where he could simply look at your beautiful face and listen to your voice, as you talked about your day, that way, it would be easier for him to daydream you were just a married couple spending some quality time together after a busy day.
•••
“... so all I'm saying is that I could bring Olivia back and then you both could-”
“No”
“But my mom would love to have her over with us for the holidays an-”
“Marcus I said no”
You sighed exhausted at that conversation, you knew something was up the moment you set foot into your ex’s apartment, you thought maybe he was happy to see you, but apparently all he wanted was to convince you to let him take your baby girl away for the holidays. You shook your head and tried wiping away those thoughts. There was no reason you should get on the defensive at that moment, Marcus had always been nothing but nice and gentle to you, he didn't want to steal Olivia away, in fact, his request was even kind of reasonable, even if you weren't going to agree with it. He had such hopeful eyes, those stupid eyes that made you fall in love with him, because you could see the truth in them, the honesty, the kindness Marcus held onto your heart, and those were the same eyes that prevented you from moving on, you would do so much for him if you could, but not that. It was the only thing you wouldn't give up.
He ran his thumb over his bottom lip - an old habit of his that usually went unknown - and shook his head, sighing in frustration. He couldn't understand why you wouldn't give in just a little, he didn't understand why you played so hard to get when it came to that. You had always agreed on everything as a couple and as parents, he didn't see the reason why you were behaving that way.
“Why not?!” He insisted and for a moment you had the impression of talking with a stubborn child. You'd already said you wouldn't agree to it, but he kept on pushing it, and even if a part of you was annoyed and started to get cranky, you had to be reasonable and remind yourself there was no reason to fight, he was just Marcus, your sweet lovely Marcus, who happened to be the best dad in the world and all he was asking was to spend Christmas next to his little girl. You buried your face into your hands, taking a deep breath and organizing your thoughts for a while before you could face him again.
“I said no because you already have your family to spend Christmas with and I don't, Marcus. If I let Olivia go with you, I'll be completely alone, not to mention the fact she's never been that far away from me before, but that's not what worries me…” you finally admitted out loud. You opened your heart to him for the first time in a very long time. After suppressing your feelings and locking them into a tiny box in the bottom of your heart, they were surfacing once more.
“All I'm saying is that, if you take Olivia, I'll be completely alone at Christmas and I don't want that, I don't want to have to invite myself over to friend's dinner parties and stuff like that, it's depressing and Christmas should be about family, so if you are already traveling and visiting yours, it's only fair I get to spend it with my daughter” you explained it to him.
“Our daughter” he interrupted you and you realized you were acting on the defensive the entire time. You felt insecure, always fearing Olivia loved her dad more than she loved you, even if it sounded madness because yes, she loved her daddy with all her ring little heart, but parenthood wasn't a competition, and even if you understood that, you also had another fear: Olivia simply getting used to distancing herself from you, and then your mind took you to several dark places, where you could only picture the worst scenarios of Marcus remarrying someone eventually, simply because he was too good of a man to remain single; and it scared you your daughter would simply choose to be around her dad and his new wife. You couldn't help suffering in anticipation over a rejection that might not even happen but still haunted it nonetheless. He placed his hand on top of yours, the familiar warmth making your heart skip a beat as he looked into your eyes.
“You could come with us, we could all travel to Texas… What do you say?” and it shattered your heart to have to say no to him once more; Marcus was so sweet but also innocent to think that could even be a possibility.
“I can't Marcus” you said and now he noticed there were some tears threatening to spill down your eyes. He was running out of options and needed to know why you were playing so hard to get, before he could inquire with you, you sighed and continued “you know that's not possible…I'd love to travel with you and Olivia, as a family, I'd love to be able to visit your family, but you know I can't, because you know how your mom feels about me, and not only that, your sisters too”
To say Marcus’ family didn't like you was an understatement. They hated you. And they didn't make any effort to hide it from you, not behind Marcus’ back at least. You didn't know if his mom got overprotective due to the heartbreaks he went through over the last couple of years, or if she was one of those obsessive moms who thought no one was good enough for her son. Either way, you could still feel the burning gaze they shot you when they laid their eyes on you since the first time you'd met. It had been on Olivia’s first birthday party and they didn't hide their thoughts on you having a child with Marcus, nor the fact they straight up assumed you were simply a gold digger who was landing a great child support from the newest head of the art department from the FBI, special agent Marcus Pike.
The man, on the other hand, wasn't clueless, he knew his mom wasn't very fond of you, but he couldn't imagine to what extent that was, he thought it was just some normal rivalry and shook his head, apologizing to you, because of course he would apologize. He was a gentleman after all, and he never wanted anyone or anything hurting you. You sighed and licked your lips, a soft blush spreading across your cheeks
“I think what I mean is that I wish we could all spend Christmas together, you, Olivia and me” you admitted “I don't want to be alone, and I don't want you to be without our daughter, I just wish we had a solution for this”
“We do, honey… I'm not traveling anymore, I'm spending Christmas with you both”
•••
When the realization that Marcus would actually spend Christmas with you and Olivia hit, you were in a mix of anxiety and excitement; on one hand, you wanted everything to be perfect, you couldn't wait to have him around and see the joy in your daughter's face. At first Marcus was supposed to come only for the Christmas lunch, but after some thinking you decided to invite him over for the Eve dinner and he could simply stay over, which he agreed immediately, thrilled to know he would get to spend that long with the two of you. Olivia couldn't contain herself, she had already made drawings to her dad, set all her favorite dolls in order so she could play with him and begged you twice to pick a Disney movie to watch, she'd never been that enthusiastic and you'd be lying if you said you weren't excited too. It was like a dream of having a complete family was coming true; both you and Olivia were looking forward to seeing him, picking up dresses to wear and welcome him home, it was thrilling to think of him, it wasn't a secret to anyone how much you really liked him, and though you had wrong timing together, sometimes it felt like things would work between the two of you, and that was what you honestly hoped for. Preparing some easy dinner, you saw how Olivia jumped off the couch the moment the doorbell rang, you barely had time to open the door and Marcus could set foot inside the house before she jumped on him. Marcus was a big man and quite handy too, so he managed to balance a large bag of gifts, a bottle of wine and a toddler in his arms.
You welcomed him inside with a smile, glad to see him, as Olivia finally got off him, running to her bedroom to find whatever drawing she wanted to show him and helping him place down the table the things he brought, you both hugged. He held you in his arms for several seconds, no words exchanged, no greetings, simply acting out the feelings you perhaps had been keeping too buried deep. He buried his face into your shoulder, taking in as much of you as he could, loving your smell and how you still seemed to fit perfectly against his body. He caressed your face and smiled, saying how good it was to see you.
Dinner was very pleasant in his company, Olivia was so excited she seemed like a puppy, which brought you and Marcus to laughter. It was nice having a nice time like that, it felt like you had a family and it was very good. Sharing a bottle of wine, you and your ex-boyfriend were sitting on the carpet, long after your daughter was asleep and safely tucked in, you both were just hanging out, having your fun and chatting about your old times together. You couldn't stop yourself from drooling over Marcus. God, he was so handsome and sweet, he was also smart and polite, which was a very dangerous combination you'd tried first-hand, hence the whole reason why you ended up pregnant. He tilted his head and laughed, making you lose yourself into him.
“... I said I can still smell you on me” he repeated himself, snapping you out of your daydreaming and making you nearly spit out your wine. He had said what?!
“What?!” The blush spreading across your cheek had a little to do with wine, the way he simply dropped those lines and placed a strand of hair behind your ear made your heart race.
“I meant from earlier, when we greeted each other and your perfume is still lingering on me… I like it” Marcus was a little drunk, you could tell it, he'd always been a cute drunk, always snuggly and willing to progress love words. You chuckled and stroked his cheek.
“I'm glad you liked it… would you believe me if I told you I am wearing it for you?” You decided to instigate him just a little, surprised and amused to feel his hand pulling you closer by the waist, his face so close to yours you could feel his faltering breathing before he finally kissed you. Sealing your lips together, you wrapped your arms around him, deepening the kiss more and more, moaning softly into his mouth, wishing and hoping that moment would last forever. His lips were just as soft as you remembered and the more you leaned against him, the more you desired Marcus. He was tall, strong, he always smelled so perfectly and all you could think of that moment was why did it take so long for the two of you to set things straight? Even if you weren't setting things straight, why did it take you guys so long to actually kiss and simply enjoy each other's touch. You couldn't actually tell, but perhaps that was a Christmas miracle. Breaking the kiss was hard, but the way Marcus’ big hand stroked your cheek, so gently as he looked at you as if you were the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen, was worthy. The way he whispered your name and invested in another kiss, not having enough of you. He wanted more, he didn't want to be just Olivia's dad, he wanted to be there for you too, to hold you after a long day of work, to be able to kiss and stroke you gently and make you his. He didn't need a mistletoe to kiss you over and over and even if it technically wasn't Christmas yet, that was the best gift he could've got.
“I need you” he whispered against your lips “I'm tired of hiding my feelings for you, tired of pretending I'm glad when I'm not, when all I want is Olivia and you in my life, baby girl”
You could've jumped out of happiness right there and then. Marcus wanted you, just as much as you wanted him; it wasn't just delusional to think of a future together, all you had to do was say yes to him. When you were about to kiss Marcus once more, Olivia waddled into the living room, with her special Christmas PJs and messy bed hair and jumped onto his lap.
“Hi daddy!” She yawned cutely and snuggled him, which caused the two of you to chuckle in a soft blush and put your kiss aside for a little while.
You wouldn't be able to tell exactly what time you fell asleep with your family, but when you did wake up, you were in your bed - Marcus had carried you to the bedroom as the gentleman he was, Olivia had been tucked once more between the two of you and drifted off to a sweet slumber, which didn't prevent her from waking up extremely early and squealing at the top of her little lungs in excitement once she spotted the presents Santa had left around the living room, making you chuckle, as she tugged your sleeve and took you to the tree.
“Where's daddy, mommy?” Her beautiful sparkly eyes stared into your own at the same time Marcus walked in with a tray full of fresh made pancakes. Of course the sweet, lovely Marcus Pike would wake up early and make breakfast for his family. Placing the plate down, he smiled at his daughter's excitement, as she shredded all those colorful sparkly gift wrappings. You turned to him, calling him for an embrace, as he wrapped his arms around the two of you.
“I want us to have this every year, everyday of a family waking up together, please honey” Marcus whispered against your neck, and in return, you simply kissed his lips, showing him exactly your answer, you wanted the same too.
Olivia got her toys, her plushies and her cute summer dresses, you gave Marcus new bass strings and a brand new shirt that would just look perfect on him, tightening to the right places, and in return he gifted you a golden bracelet. But in reality, what you had gifted each other was Olivia and you were both about to gift her a brand new family, one that started at Christmas and would go on for as long as there was love between you all.

For some reason the takeout I ordered is taking longer than usual, which is strange for a Tuesday night. I was told a forty-five minute delivery time, but they’re fifteen minutes over.
Now that I think about it, they did sound pretty busy over the phone, so I guess a couple of minutes won’t be too bad. Hopefully they hurry because I am dozing off a bit, and I’d like to take advantage of my weariness since Toji isn’t here to comfort me before bed.
Just being without Toji for three days puts me on edge, however, he reassures me that Naoya is on standby if I need anything or if I feel unsafe. Not like I can while being in our home. Living in a penthouse has its perks. Great security. Code required entry. I think I should be fine. And after the party a few weeks ago, I don’t think I’ll ever see Suguru again.
I curse myself everyday for succumbing to the temporary pleasure he provided me those two times we had sex. Honestly, I feel embarrassed. I knew Suguru was a bit clingy but I didn’t think about it at the time because I wanted attention. The desire. The chemistry. The mind blowing sex and how he practically worshiped my body. All of it felt good. Now, I feel disgusted.
It’s been almost two months since I met Suguru, and a month since I told Toji about my infidelity. He has admitted how much it hurt him that I stepped out on our marriage, but decided to work on forgiving me and move past it. I can’t say our marriage is perfect. We still have our small arguments, especially about me cheating, and I give him the space to express how he feels. I mean, there’s nothing I can say. I cheated.
Quite frankly, I’m surprised Toji and I are still together. Maybe something in me thought when I told him I cheated that he was going to use that as a way to finally divorce me. Because again, I thought he didn’t love me anymore. However, Toji made it clear that our love for each other should never be questioned.
 I know that now.
A yawn escapes my mouth and I begin to wonder where the delivery driver is. I grabbed my phone to call the restaurant but before I was able to, a message from an unknown number came through:
Hi. This is your delivery driver. What is the access code?
  Finally .
Hi, it’s 02315.
I go to the bedroom to grab some cash from our safe and hear the doorbell ring. I just know as soon as I eat a good amount of food, I’m going straight to bed. Tomorrow I have to meet with Teresa to do some nursery shopping (maybe clothes and shoes, too) and I need all the energy for our early morning.
Although I know it’s the delivery driver at the door, paranoia causes me to look through the peephole and I see the delivery guy from the restaurant, in uniform, waiting for me. But the moment I open the door, my heart nearly sinks to my stomach seeing the delivery guy coughing up blood and behind him is Suguru, pulling a knife out of his lower back.
He falls forward, food spilling everywhere along with broken glass from the pop that I ordered. He’s… he’s dead.
 Suguru killed him.
I gasp, and numbness finds its way to my knees that feels like they’re giving up on me but manages to give me enough strength to put distance between us. How he slowly locks the door behind him while giving me a sardonic smile fills nausea in my stomach.
Suguru’s purple irises darken to the color of midnight as he looks over my body. I feel violated. Disgusted. I’m trying to control my mind to prevent me from thinking about throwing up, but the more he ogles me, repulsion flares in my gut.
A man, that I had sex with, that doesn’t know what no means, is now standing in the middle of my home with a bloody knife and an intent of I don’t know what. I turn on my heels to run toward my phone, however, he breaks the distance in three long strides to grab me by my coils and pull me to him, causing me to yelp from the sharp pain I felt.
My breaths softly burst in and out, and salty tears trickle down my cheeks just thinking about what’s going to happen to me.
Will Suguru kidnap me? Kill me? The possibilities are endless as they spiral in my mind, but really all I can think about is Toji.
“Shh, don’t cry, sweetheart,” he whispers, kissing the shell of my ear that causes the slightest hint of vomit to rise up my throat. “I won’t hurt you. I would never do that.”
 “You’re hurting me now.”
Suguru lets out a breathy chuckle, almost as if he’s mocking me. “Funny. I don’t remember you having an issue with me pulling your hair when my cock was inside of you.”
  What was I thinking?
“What do you want?” I ask, trembling.
“I just want to talk, baby.”
There’s one of two things. I can play along and listen to what Suguru has to say to give me time to think of what I could do. Or, find a way to get to my bedroom to get the gun out of the safe.
The former is my best bet for now.
“Okay,” I answered. “We can talk. Just let go of me.”
“Will you run if I do?” I shook my head, and although Suguru hesitated, he released my hair.  “I miss you, Y/N.”
“You have a weird way of showing it.” I move to the other end of the couch to create a greater distance than before. Suguru attempts to come closer, but I put my hand up to reassure him. “Give me space.”
He nods. “Anything for my pretty girl.”
There was a time when hearing him call me his pretty girl made my stomach flutter.
 I loathe it now.
“How the fuck do you know where I live?”
“Hm, coincidence. But be more careful giving out your code, angel. It’s dangerous.”
“Are you sick in the head?” The question was rhetorical, but Suguru felt the need to answer.
“Love can make you do crazy things, Y/N.”
I scoff. “ Love? Do you… think that I love you? That you love me?”
 “I do love, angel-”
“We fucked, Suguru!” I yell at him, anger ripping through my throat and breaking past my tears. “I don’t know you, and you don’t know me.”
He shakes his head, eyes softening. “That’s where you’re wrong, Y/N. I do know you.” He slowly walked toward me and I began stepping backwards. “I know your favorite bakery. I know that makeup store that you love going to every Saturday. I know how much you love reading. How much you love ordering from this takeout place. Oh, and don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll order you some more.”
“Why? So you can fucking kill the next delivery driver?” I retorted.
“In my defense, he wouldn’t cooperate with giving me your order. I told him I was your boyfriend and the fucker didn’t believe me.” Suguru laughs menacingly while pulling out a handkerchief to wipe the blood off his blade. “Says he knows your husband. Your fucking husband that’s a pain in my ass.”
Clingy wasn’t the word to describe Suguru. Crazy. A complete psychopath. He’s fucking delusional. For all this time I’ve known him for, the very little that I know, he’s been building this illusion in his mind that we’re meant to be. That we’re in love.
Where did he get this from after sex and a few conversations about sex?
On the outside, it seems like I calmed down, but inside? Fear gnaws me. If Suguru claims he’s not going to hurt me, why is still holding the blade in his hand after he wiped it clean?
I need to find a way to get past him. Think, Y/N. Think.
“There’s other ways to show me that you love me, Suguru.” Reassuring him to make it seem like I’m interested in building a relationship is worth a try. “You don’t have to kill to prove that you love me. I feel it. I know you do. I’m sorry for doubting you before.”
His brows raise in relief. “You do?”
“I do, Suguru. I do,” I say softly. “You were there to make me feel special when Toji wasn’t.”
“Don’t say his name, angel. He doesn’t deserve your breath.” Suguru comes closer to me and reaches for my hand. To keep the act that I’m on his side, I allow him to touch me. If I make it out alive, I remind myself to scrub my body hard next time I shower.
A slight shiver races through my spine as he caresses my face and sniffs the scent of my hair. Behind me there’s a bottle of wine I planned on drinking with my meal, and while Suguru takes his time embracing me, I grab the bottle and smash it against his head.
I don’t wait to see his reaction. My legs move on their own to where my phone is and I rush upstairs to my bedroom, but before I could make it to the fourth step, Suguru pulls me by my leg. And you would think he would be furious, boiling because of my betrayal, his anger is masked with a sadistic smile.
“You lied to me, princess. Why. Did. You. Lie. To. Me?” He asks me through gritted teeth.
I kick at him, hitting his chest and face to let me go, but he doesn’t budge. “Let go of me you fucking psycho!”
Suguru slices the back of my leg with the knife, deep enough to inflict damage, to which I scream in pain. But I know the pain is temporary.
While I continue to kick him, I throw my phone up the stairs and yell out to the digital assistant installed in my phone to call Naoya. I’m not near to know if it worked, but after hearing calling Naoya out loud, it’s dialing.
I managed to stand up on one leg despite Suguru still having my other in his grip, kicking him in his eye socket where it’s still bruised from Toji’s beating. Every bit of my power is used to jab my heel into his eye until he winces in pain and eventually releases me.
My steps are wide when running up the stairs, two at a time, to reach for my phone and rush into my bedroom. Naoya is still on the phone and I want to let out a breath of relief, but I can’t. Not with this fear rushing through me.
“Naoya? Naoya?” I call for him frantically, tears returning to my eyes.
“ Y/N, what the hell is going on? ”
“Please come. He’s here, he’s-” I yelp and my body flinches from the abrupt banging on my door.
“Angel, come outside. Don’t make this harder for us. You know I don’t like scaring you.”
“ I’m on my way now, Y/N. Go get the gun ,” Naoya orders.
  The gun. Right.
I ignore the excessive banging on the door and head to the walk-in closet, going deep back to where the safe is. My hands tremble when putting in the code, but I was able to get it open. I hate using the gun, let alone holding it, but it’s the only chance that I have at defense until Naoya comes.
“ Y/N, talk to me. What’s going on? ” I almost forgot that he was on the phone.
 “I have it.”
“ Okay, I’m fifteen minutes away, I’ll try to get there in five ,” he tells me. “ Just stay in the room. ”
When I’m back in the middle of my bedroom, it’s quiet. I no longer hear the excessive force on the door nor him yelling. Something doesn’t feel right. Nothing in my mind will lead me to believe that Suguru just gave up, but what is he doing?
Is he thinking that the silence will bait me? That he left? He returned downstairs? No. The quietness is making me uneasy.  It’s too loud. Loud enough for me to hear how shallow my breaths are, and the thumping of my heart.
 “Naoya…” I cautioned.
 “ What happen- ”
  The balcony.
We live on the highest floor alone, so there was never any reason to lock the doors. My head whips to the window to find Suguru with a sinister smile on his face, waving at me with the hand that carries his knife, like everything is peaches and cream between us.
I drop my phone and hear Naoya repeatedly calling my name, however, I tune him out. Shooting through the window is useless when they’re bulletproof, so I cock back the gun and wait until Suguru steps inside.
“Stay right fucking there,” I demanded.
“Don’t you think this is some pretty intense foreplay, angel face?”
“What I think is that you’re a disgusting piece of shit that deserves to die.”
He sighs, shaking his head. “I don’t think that’s a nice thing to say. We shouldn’t be hurting each other, princess.”
“Stop fucking calling me that!” He steps closer but halts his steps from seeing me apply pressure to the trigger. “I swear on my life I will put a bullet through your head if you keep fucking with me.”
“You don’t mean that,” he says, solemnly.
 “Want to try me?”
He looks up in thought and I feel mocked for him actually considering taking a chance to step toward me. I can no longer be surprised by the extent Suguru will go just to prove he’s worthy to me, even if it potentially costs his life.
My reaction wasn’t quick enough to shoot him in the head when he charged at me, but I managed to get a shot in his right shoulder, causing him to drop the blade. It’s like Suguru is a beast and I am his prey, ignoring the pain that I inflicted on him to smack the gun out of my hand and pin me to the ground.
I try to fight him off of me, but my strength against him is no use.
“You’re being a bad girl, Y/N,” he rasps. “A very fucking bad girl. Why do you have to act this way, huh?”
 “Get off of me, Suguru!”
“No! Why can’t you understand that I love you? I’m better than he is, sweetheart.” He lowers his face against my neck and breathes my scent in, whispering,  “Ask me. Do you need me to kill him? Is he in the way? Just tell me, angel. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”
At this moment, I fear for my life. I think of all the stupid decisions I’ve made throughout my life and hooking up with Suguru at the bar two months ago is my biggest mistake. As I cry out hysterically, I call for Toji like if I continue to do so, he’ll appear.
And for the minute I am hallucinating, thinking it’s Toji that’s calling back to me, it’s Naoya still on the line. I didn’t get a chance to respond to him before Suguru grabbed my phone.
“I’m sorry. Y/N isn’t available to speak right now,” he says, throwing my phone against the wall, which breaks. He then returns his attention to me. “Anyway, princess. Where were we?”
 Hell. . . That’s exactly where I’m at.

Sadira spins around in her chair as the dark blue light reflects off her glasses; before coming to an abrupt and screechy halt when she hears him yell through the computer screen. She quickly turns and looks over the multiple cctv screens around her in search of minho, until she finds him. Eventually. She messes around with some buttons around her until the 'griever' as the gladers called it, slows down. She sighs and leans against the chair having succesfully saved him the third time this week.
Sadira could confidentaly say that she was the youngest at w.c.k.d. She was 16. She could tell you alot of things, except for what she does in the abnormally technologically advanced building all day. There isn't exactly a job description for saving the asses of the friends you've made through a screen who don't know you even exist. Infact, that probably hinders the consistent experiements being thrown at these children who are her age, heck— some of them are even younger.
Sadira knows that the only reason she isn't in that maze is because she's the daughter of Dr. Ava Paige. I guess even being an adopted daughter has it's own advantages.
That's why she's so careful when she saves the lives of the gladers, if ava finds out both her and the reckless gladers she watched over are doomed. Boy this would be tough to explain if she met them in person, how would she even act around them? Thankfully she doesn't have to worry about that yet. Right?
When Ava turned her away and banished her from coming to w.c.k.d for 'safety reasons', Sadira was MORE than curious on what her 'mother' was hiding. So naturally, when she called her back urgently she ran through the multiple maze like hallways of the building in search of Ava like a mad woman. Maybe in her own way, w.c.k.d was her maze and cage too. just in a non-life threatening sense. for now.
She walks towards the prison cell looking holding room as she stands next to the woman she calls her mother not looking through the window just yet; she should have, maybe she could have ran instead of walking straight to her demise.
Instead she stared gaping mouth at the other girl who happened to step into her peripheral vision. "You remember teresa, yes?" Ava announced loudly, her words ringing colder than the white lights above their head. Sadira could only nod in response; who the hell was inside that room?
"Unfortunately my love, it would be unwise to get into details here. But teresa recently found her way back to w.c.k.d, back to us. And she has been working with us in your absence. It is with a full heart that I can tell you that you will be learning hands on how to talk to a test subject today. Do not worry child, rest assured, you will be safe." She spoke again as teresa walked away, her tone laced with something unfamiliar which, looking back— could have only been something poisonous. "Go on." she nudged again as Sadira walked into the plain white chamber which, looked even sadder from the inside.
She turned around as the door closed behind her and this, mystery inmate. Her heart dropped to her feet. It was him. He was here. Nonetheless, she approached slowly and sat down infront of him. He looked...Terrible.
"Hello," She said blandly, but internally she was nervous as ever. But if she showed it, Ava wouldn't let her talk to him again. How would she help him out then? She should probably slow down but the difference in his character was unsettling.
He didn't say anything in response and only watched her intently, or dazed. She remembered how his eyes looked in the maze, even if they were facing near death every second of the day. And then she noticed how dead they looked this very moment, when this was the one time in life he was truly protected. She looked towards the one-way mirror hoping she was looking directly at Ava. That's when he scoffed. "They can't save you in here."
She looked back at him, eyebrows raised and all. "What would I need saving from, Minho? You won't hurt me." She said confidentally, but not in the sense that she knew he wouldn't. Well, still in that sense but she only showed Ava what was on the surface. Confidence in the sense that she was hiding her fear.
Minho ofcourse, knows that even if he wanted to kill her this very second he would be unable to, considering the shitload of drugs he was put on. She's pretty, it's a shame she's on the wrong side of all of this, he thought.
"Don't wanna talk? that's alright. We'll get you to one of these days Minho. Time is on our side." the words spilled out of sadira's mouth leaving a bitter after-taste. she didn't like talking to him like this, but if she even let Ava catch on to the idea that sadira had...once grown fond of the boy infront of her? she would have lost her chance. for what exactly? she's not entirely sure herself.
silence engulfed the small white room as she watched the nervous bob of his adam's apple before promptly getting up and leaving.
That night, without much shock. She was kidnapped. "Oh, it's just you lot." she said calmly, looking at the faces of thomas, frypan, newt, and gally. All the idiots she saved multiple times. Well, except for frypan— he was always a sweetheart.
The point is, she wasn't intimidated. Instead she laughed when they tried to threaten her. Then, she asked them to untie her and much to everyone's surprise, they obliged.
Not wanting to leave them high and dry Sadira explained everything to them. How she saved their lives, How she knew them, How she saw teresa, And about how she spoke to Minho. She then warned them that as a 16 year old saving them to those small extents was all she could have done and that it would be unwise to redirect their anger from w.c.k.d to her simply because she knew.
She also agreed to get minho out, but that was a given. The only condition she set down was freedom from Dr. Ava Paige. Who she had the displeasure of calling her mother. They sat on the floor that night and all the gladers and Sadira in unison decided the best plan to get minho out of that hellhole. And they settled.
On Gameday, Sadira offered to walk with Janson and pointed out how something looked suspicious with teresa and her guards. Inevitablly, Janson approached the disguised gladers and it was there that they grabbed her as she sneakily snatched janson's all building access card. She was with them under the ruse of a hostage, just so that Ava doesn't get suspicious and look too closely.
When they found out Minho was moved, it was only because of Sadira and another test subject that they could pinpoint Minho's exact location.
However, she should have probably thought to warn him in some way that she was on their side. Maybe then Minho wouldn't have mistakened her for the enemy and slammed her into the wall once they did find him. ouch.
The escape after that was mostly smooth sailing, there were no losses and only minor setbacks. But those don't matter enough to be mentioned here. [Authors Note: I didn't have it in me to kill off newt so don't blame me] Ofcourse, Sadira almost dying while protecting minho doesn't fall under minor setbacks but she would have done that for any glader.
When she woke up in the 'refugee' a few days later, minho was the first person she spoke to. The conversation flowed much more smoothly when her formerly alive mother (that was fun to find out) wasn't watching over them, she joked. And he laughed. And she thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world. So she made him do it again, and again, and again. Until she finally realised she couldn't get enough of it.
They moved fast. From touches, to kisses, to something more. But it was never in the sense that it was too much to handle, Instead it was in the sense that they had waited too long for each other and that they were desperate for this. Needy, even. Which was insane considering he barely knew her. Oh well.
First Kisses and First loves are obviously difficult post-apocalypse but hey, atleast it makes one hell of a story.

It's another late afternoon at Gally and Brenda's place, the light streaming through the window as the sun sinks down.
Most of the gang is slowly arriving for game night, Newt helping Brenda with food as Gally prepares the drinks, while Thomas lounges on the couch watching Ben and Winston fight over control of the music.
"No one wants Taylor Swift, bitch."
"She's good, you uncultured asshat. Give me the remote or I swear-"
The doorbell rings and Thomas rolls off the couch, snorting at his friends' antics.
"Alby!" he greets, the door swinging open to reveal his friend... holding eggs in his bare hands.
Alby rolls his eyes at Thomas' raised eyebrows. "Brenda wanted egg whites to put foam things in the drinks. I didn't want to crush them in my bag."
"Sure," says Thomas, amused.
"Hold the door!"
Thomas turns at your voice, grabbing the handle to stop the door from closing. His face breaks into a wide smile as he sees you.
"Hi," you say, grinning.
"Hey," he responds, leaning in to press a kiss to your lips. "It's good to see you."
You giggle, blushing. "Yeah, you too."
"Goddammit," says Minho, behind you in the doorway. "You two are sickening."
You and Thomas had only started dating about a week ago, so you're very much still in the honeymoon phase, much to your friends' discomfort.
"Alright!" you exclaim, clapping your hands together. "What's going on here, everyone looks bored as hell."
"They were waiting for the fun people to show up," says Minho with a smirk.
You walk in down the hallway, saying hi to Brenda and dropping the groceries she'd asked for on the counter.
"If you're so fun, what should we do?" asks Winston.
Minho exchanges a look with you, and grins. "Just Dance," he says.
"Seriously?" huffs Winston.
"Hell yes," you jump in. "I'm gonna beat you this time, Minho."
"Just Dance is lame," groans Ben, from his upside down position on the couch.
"Only cause you suck at it," you fire back. You turn to the rest of the group. "Who's playing?"
"I'm in," says Thomas, followed by Newt and Teresa.
"Who's up first?" asks Minho, scrolling through the songlist.
Teresa jumps in, taking the controller you pass to her.
Minho selects the song, and grabs the second controller for himself. "It's a 3-person dance, you want in Tommy-boy?" he waves the control in Thomas' direction.
"You're on," says Thomas.
You and Newt pile onto the couch to watch beside Ben and Winston, with Alby standing beside you.
Your eyes stay on Thomas and his dancing; awkward and not quite aligning with the character on the screen that he's meant to be matching, but so free and joyful, laughing at Minho and Teresa, and himself too. So cute.
Newt leans over and whispers in your ear. "So we agree Tommy's got no dance skills whatsoever?"
Your eyes are still caught on Thomas, as he turns to smile at you mid-dance. You let out a cheer and clap over-enthusiastically, and he laughs at your support.
"Yeah, he can't dance," you reply fondly.
"I bet you think this is the cutest thing in the world," mutters Newt, raising his brows at you.
You snort. "Yeah, I really do," you say honestly.
The song ends with Thomas almost but not quite beating out Teresa, and Minho with a score so high it's not even funny.
You cheer along with the others, as Thomas and Teresa turn to the couch to swap players. When he gets close enough, you slip a hand behind his neck to bring him closer, and pull him into a long kiss, taking the controller from his hand at the same time.
Everyone collectively groans immediately, but you just pull back and grin. "That was for good luck. Thanks, Tommy."
"Anytime," says Thomas, with a matching grin.
You turn to Newt, who's covering his eyes dramatically, and you yank him up by the arm. "Get up here with me, you're doing this."
Minho holds up his controller. "Who wants to swap-"
"Nope, you're playing another," you cut him off, shooting him a competitive glare.
Minho smirks. "This'll be easy."
"Just pick a song, losers," calls Newt, shaking his head, as if he isn't equally competitive once you start playing.
"One Republic!" you say excitedly, and Minho selects Something I Need from the menu.
The song starts softly, making it easier to keep up with the smooth, slower dance moves. But then the beat kicks in.
"Shit!" you yell, laughing. "Why's it so hard?"
The characters do a twirl on the screen, and Newt trips, cursing loudly.
You start mumbling the lyrics to yourself, to try to keep in time. Then the chorus hits, and you decide screw it.
"You've got something I need", you sing loudly, punching each dance move out to the beat.
You grin to yourself, belting the song and watching your score go up.
Thomas watches from behind you, cheering loudly. She's so damn good.
"Hey, Y/n can sing!" says Teresa, letting out a cheer as you clap your hands on the beat, the game showing an 'awesome!' over your name.
Thomas has never heard you sing like this; it's adorable, and surprisingly really good since you're dancing at the same time.
"Is she gonna beat Minho?" Thomas hears Ben ask incredulously.
That's my girl, thinks Thomas.
The song reaches the end, and you turn to your audience at the last line. "If we only live once, I want to live with you." You wink at Thomas and shoot him a wide smile with cheesy finger guns.
Your friends start yelling as the game counts up your scores, the shouts becoming deafening as your bar overtakes Minho's.
"She's done it! She's taken him down!" cackles Ben, who for all his 'Just Dance is lame' has gotten surprisingly into the game.
Minho falls dramatically, gesturing his arms towards you with a flourish. "The true champion. Here, take my crown." He lifts an invisible crown off his head and places it on yours.
"Yes, thank you very much," you say, giving your best attempt at a curtsey.
You and Minho pass your controllers to the next players, Newt insisting on another try.
"You killed it," says Thomas, grinning at you as you join him beside the couch, standing to watch.
"It was the luck you gave me before the game," you joke, leaning into Thomas.
He shakes his head, laughing. "I like your voice, by the way."
"You do? Thank you," you say.
You both laugh as Frypan hops in the wrong direction, knocking into Winston who shouts in protest.
"Hey, Y/n." You look up at Thomas. "You know, you are something I need."
"I-" you can feel the blush rising to your cheeks, and you shove him lightly. "So lame," you groan.
Thomas laughs, and pulls you back in, looping an arm around your waist.
"...I need you too, Thomas."
He smiles, and drops a kiss on your head.

"Oh my god- Winston, are you okay?"
