We are finally reaching our last day of HLAW!! And we've got such incredible entries - this time also from new people who have sent us such fabulous work! We're grateful to all our contributors - both old and new - for the love and enthusiasm you've shown us so far and hope to see more in store today as well!!

Day 5 is all about the relationships!! Whether familial, platonic or romantic, Hana gives each one her all 🩷 She is also someone who is attempting to learn a new normal - how to continue loving others while also taking care of herself! This is a chance to explore Hana's connections with other people, whether in canon or your OCs, and explore her unique way of navigating them!!

Any content is welcome!! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, interactive, media, headcanons, screenshots, playlists, meta...even screenshots of your favourite scenes would be great!! Our only requirement is that the content is centered on Hana, and that the depiction of her is positive. You can also send in WIPs in case you don't complete a work!

You can also send in a work on the days following a particular theme - this is no pressure for it to be put up exactly that day! We will also have an extra week for anyone who still needs time 💕 May 4th will be our final official date for entries (to incorporate into our video!) but HLAW will still be open for entries for the rest of the year until the next event!

that person has been sending that ask to ML artists for years, I remember when I first joined the fandom something like 2 years ago and so, they had sent me 2 asks as soon as I started dropping art (and it was more agressive like "draw pv felix bridgette tango dance" dhjdfhj). Back then I had been pretty nice because I felt a little bad for rejecting their request like "I'm sorry :// I hope you understand ://" but now I don't feel sorry in the slightest

And they've done it to lotssss of artists in the fandom it's ridiculous, and never with a "please" or anything

And you know it's the kind of person who will never leave you a thank you, never reblog what you drew for them for free, and for all you know they're gonna repost what you did on instagram or something 🤪

Some people really think artists are at their service and they can just ask like it won't take us hours to do a drawing. Some even take the opportunity when we do ask games & ask people to send us a character to draw, to drop their OC so they can have it for free, sorry but no, if you can't draw then go on picrew or something for that hahaha

But anyway for every new ML artist who hasn't had that PV anon yet: if you get it don't waste your time with them they're annoying ✌️

Last Binderary book is DONE!!!! This is the incredible Maybe sprout wings, by @moorishflower.

This post is going to be a doozy, so gonna just skip straight to the cut!

INTERIOR

INTRODUCTION

I really wanted to model this bind after my own copy of the Odyssey, (which is all highlighted and bookmarked and annotated to hell from my Great Text courses in undergrad ehe, so this bind was such a fun trip down memory lane!). But beyond just the cover/general aesthetic, I also wanted to give the book a similar feel to these kinds of editions of classics--there's usually an introduction, translation notes, and other supplementary materials, right? Like, a physical manifestation of the work of many, many people, all having conversations with one another across time and space.

So that's what I did! I wrote a short introduction (I will also probably post it to my AO3/my blog as well, in the name of preservation etc. etc.) and began reaching out to folks in the fandom who I knew had created art and meta for the fic. The result? 18k words of analysis, comments, and meta, and nearly twenty pages of art!

And this is what I love most about this bind, I think! This book is the work of several people--truly a collaborative work by the fandom--all of whom I will now be shamelessly calling out below :D

CHAPTER HEADER ART

First and foremost, this book would not be what it is without the gorgeous header art by @fancy-rock-dove! Thank you so much Dove for letting include your work, and for being so supportive and kind these past few weeks about this bind <3 You in particular have contributed so much to this book (which I will be getting more into in the next section ehe), and I'm so psyched I get to hold your art and words, too!

NOTES ON THE TEXT

This section was divided into four parts: Asks and Answers, Meta, Selected Comments, and Chapter Heading Art: Process

For Asks and Answers, I trawled Heather's blog for meta she had written in response to questions and other meta about the fic. Asks came from @fancy-rock-dove, @quillingwords, @kulapti, and myself! (I THINK I got all of them--tumblr's search function is finnicky even on its best days, so so sorry if I missed something T_T) I first got hooked into reading this fic because of one of these asks, so I'm very fond of this section in particular :D

For Meta, I included two wonderful essays written by @pastrypuppy (also known as @kulapti) about Hob as an author figure and the Disrupted Fisher King narrative in MSW. Her analyses were so fascinating and I just had to include them in the book! (And thank you as well for your permission, friend!) (also hello fellow Renegade comrade 🫡)

For Selected Comments, I owe everything to (once again :3) @fancy-rock-dove, whose insights are the epitome of transformative fandom at work. I'd look for their comments after I read every chapter to see what their takes were on this or that element of the story, and every single time I would go "!!!!! I didn't even realize!!!" or "OOOOOOOH I hadn't thought of that!!" It was like being in a lecture hall and always whipping your head around when one of your classmates raised their hand, because you knew they were going to say something fascinating that you hadn't considered before.

Aside from one of my own comments, Dove's comments make up the entirety of this section (for which I owe you my life--your long-form responses to fics are a gift to this world) but GOSH was it also so much fun going through the comments section while typesetting and seeing all the keyboard smashing, yelling, and crying from the other commenters. Communal nature of storytelling and ongoing meaning-making of fanfiction, babey!

And finally for Chapter Heading Art: Process: once again Dove coming in clutch with some wonderful insights into the design of each of the chapter heading art pieces! This kind of stuff is honestly my favorite: meta about art for a fic which is, in turn, a transformation of an existing story (not even to mention that The Sandman is its own kind of fanfiction of existing mythologies and histories)--I just!! Think it's all really, really neat :'D (for more coherent/polished thoughts on this pls see my introduction asjdfkls)

ART

The art gallery!!! A million thanks to @fishfingersandscarves, @honeyseller, @jazzpsych, @doctor-rainbowfoxey, and (HI AGAIN DOVE) @fancy-rock-dove for granting me permission to include all of your beautiful pieces!

As usual for artworks in my binds, I printed each piece out on specialty photo paper to really make the colors pop, then sewed each page separately to the text block! Behold, everyone's beautiful beautiful pieces!

The art gallery also satisfies the certain "oooh shiny" part of my brain that always activates when I see pictures in a book, so am also very fond of this section :3

CONSTRUCTION

And now on to the nitty gritty stuff! I used the German Bradel binding technique again, my second time using it. Even though it's more complicated than the case bind, I really love how it gives you the full board space for the cover designs (~it's free real estate~). Keep it a secret but I kiiiiiiind of made a small goof in the last few steps (I did the turn-ins a step too early and so had to paste an extra sheet of cardstock to secure the spine to the boards, whoopsie), but it's a pretty small difference, aesthetically speaking, so it wasn't the end of the world XD

Edges are once again fake gilded, but this time I tried something new with the colors! I did two layers of acrylic paint--one watered down shade of red for the base, then one metallic gold on top of that. I really like the red/gold effect! I'll have to keep experimenting with this kind of layering:

ALSO. Y'ALL! I think I'm finally getting the hang of endbands!!! Many thanks to the folks at Renegade who hosted all the endband workshops last month--I'm still working through them, but even the few sessions I've seen have been TREMENDOUSLY helpful. I learned that tension is Very Important, as well as thread thickness, so I tried doubling my thread and keeping a Very Close Eye on how I was holding the threads while doing the beads. And behold! I still have a ways to go (and one day I would LOVE to do the fancier designs), but I'm v happy with the progress I've made so far!

And finally the covers!! ARCHIVAL MOD PODGE MY BELOVED. I printed on the same matte presentation paper that I used for the art, then did several coats of archival matte mod podge + a pass of gloss mod podge over the title strip to make it ~shiny~. Then once those had dried and I'd adhered them to the boards, I sprayed two layers of matte clear acrylic sealer (also mod podge!) to finish it off. I had some issues with the paper tearing when I handled it before it was fully dry, but luckily the blemishes were small enough that it was easy to do spot corrections with my black acrylic paint. And now I know to be more patient next time LOL

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had a lot of thoughts while I was binding this book--about Sandman fandom, about Dreamling fandom, about the Odyssey, about storytelling, about fanbinding, about Binderary, about Renegade, about my friends--but really what came to mind the most was gratitude!

Simply put, I'm so grateful to everyone I've met both in this fandom and throughout the years I've been active online--this is SO fun, y'all. It's so much fun to love stories together--to talk about them, to write them, and of course to bind them! I hope I've adequately conveyed that gratitude.

But of course, this book would not exist without the wonderful words of @moorishflower. Heather, thank you so, SO much for sharing your stories, thoughts, and time with us--it is always a happier, better day when I get an email notif from you and when I see you on my dash. I love your work so much, and I'm so happy I finally get to put it on my shelf! So thank you so much again, for everything <3

Ayo thank you for your contribution to society and world culture through the SVSSS iceberg, now if you don’t mind can you please explain it? I’ve been in the fandom a while but I swear I’ve never heard of some of these

Sure! Explanations will be sorted under the cut:

SHEN YUAN TIER:

- all items in this tier are either surface level details from the source material or

- daily bingpup is a popular fandom meme (used in the metal gear sense lmfao) started by @ kamkamquats on Twitter that's pretty self explanatory: kam draws and posts a bingpup picture every day! The archive is available here.

I probably should have made this point just bingpup, as I believe his origins precede kam's art, but she certainly boosted his popularity significantly, and now her art and bingpup are canonized with the publishing of the 4th volume English translation of the novel, so I thought it was a fun point!

LUO BINGHE TIER:

- Feynite's au collection: an extremely popular collection of alternate universe fics written by legendary Scum Villain fic author Feynite.

- Scum Villain is a tragedy: an interpretation of the books that poses that from every other perspective besides Shen Yuan's, Scum Villain is an incredibly depressing tragedy.

- Luo Binghe is Airplane's self insert: "Don't asky why Luo Binghe wasn't the embodiment of [Airplane's] ideal man; Luo Binghe's use had primarily been to fulfill his desire to be a badass and get revenge, as well as his desire for wanton [this section has been censored]" (The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System volume 4, page 163).

- Shen Yuan died on his birthday: Shen Yuan's death date is never given in the original novels, but in the first scene of the donghua when he dies while at his computer, you can catch a glimpse at the date reading September 21st (both his birthday and the day svsss was published!)

- Shen Qingqiu's canon fursona: binghe compares sqq to a crane multiple times in the story but is depicted as a cat in fandom much more frequently, leading people to joke about how the fandom disregards his "canon" fursona in the same way bingpup is much more prevalent than sheep binghe.

- Shen Qingqiu can knit: there's official crossover Christmas merchandise that shows all of the mxtx couples participating in different holiday activities: wangxian are decorating a tree, hualian are baking cookies, and shen qingqiu is knitting a scarf for luo binghe.

- Luo Binghe's birthday: Luo Binghe is actually the only main mxtx character that doesn't have a canon birthday. He's noted in the books as being born on "the coldest days of the year", but it's debatable whether this is late December or early January, and there's no specific date from this that we can confirm is his birthday.

- sv manhua's indefinite hiatus: much to the excitement of starved fans, a Scum Villain manhua began publishing in 2019. It ran for a grand total of 3 wonderful weeks before being unceremoniously put on indefinite hiatus because of drama within the fanbase stemming from rumors that the artist/company drawing it actually hated scum villain. It has yet to return.

SHEN JIU TIER:

- Moshang's horrible first time: MXTX stated in a Q&A interview that neither Mobei-Jun nor Shang Qinghua enjoyed their first time having sex together.

- Shen Qingqiu invented maxi pads: the "scum villain pad commercial" is a commercial from the first season of the donghua depicting an exchange where Ning Yingying is self conscious about going out on her period because her sanitary supplies aren't cute, so Shen Qingqiu magics her up some maxi pads.

- Shen Yuan read mpreg yaoi: "#18 Peerless Cucumber [Expert]: Upthread, keep cool. This forum has a lot of Green JJ sisters 😎" (The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System volume 4, page 145). / "''Great Master' Liu! Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky didn't write a green Jinjiang mpreg novel!'" (The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System volume 4, page 295).

- Shen Jiu transmigrated into Shen Yuan: A somewhat popular theory in the fandom that when Shen Jiu died, he transmigrated into modern day Shen Yuan the same way Shen Yuan did to him.

- Cursed monkey island: Cursed monkey island is/was a private discord server made up of very og sv fans that was known for outputting somewhat dark/off-color/weird fics for each other, often with funny porn spoof names and niche concepts. The first fics from there were published in 2018, while the last fic in the collection seems to have been published in 2022, so they might still be active, but I'm not sure.

- Moshang has a 20 year age difference: Shang Qinghua died at at least age 20 (probably older) and since he transmigrated into a baby, he has 20 extra years of consciousness from his first life on the PIDW native characters, who he meets when they're both teenagers in the Airplane extras. Though physically the same age group, he would've been mentally somewhere around 30-40 years old at this point getting bullied by teenagers.

- The microwave: some of the first previews released for the donghua were static turnaround videos of the 3D models set to elevator music -- after these dropped, it was radio silence on the show's status for a long, long time. Fans called these previews "the microwave" because of the static rotation of the models and referred to the time it took for the donghua to come out as "defrosting it in the microwave". There's a fair amount of art/memes from this time period featuring the characters literally inside microwaves, even to the point where people made microwave-themed SV merch. When the donghua finally came out bingqiu were declared "free from the microwave" and a wave of fanart of them destroying microwave prisons emerged.

TIANLANG JUN TIER:

- Wangxian have read resentment of chunshan: in the mdzs audio drama extra episode "Accompanying you to sleep - Lan Wangji", Lan Wangji takes care of a drunk Wei Wuxian by getting him ready for bed. Towards the end of the episode, Wei Wuxian asks Lan Wangji to read him a bedtime story. Lan Wangji says he isn't good at telling stories and Wei Wuxian suggest he reads him The Resentment of Chunshan (bingqiu fanfiction). Unfortunately, Lan Wangji had never heard of it before and thereby could not ASMR it.

- Six Balls x Zhuzhi Lang: a rarepair (also called bamboo balls) written by the lovely Alex here.

- Shen Qingqiu has the protagonist halo: a theory/headcanon suggesting that when Shen Yuan transmigrated, the role of protagonist and subsequent protagonist halo left Luo Binghe and transferred onto him. Often used in angst canon divergences wherein due to the lack of a protagonist halo, Binghe dies from an event he otherwise would have survived because of his story invulnerability.

- Shen Yuan's sister found his dead body: an angst headcanon centering around the idea that Shen Yuan's sister found his dead body rotting in his apartment after he died- very good art made about this here!! (Gore/blood cw)

- Who is zhuzhi lang's dad: we all know zhuzhi-lang's dad was a big snake but what kind of big snake? How big? Why did his mom fuck him? all important questions heavily debated about in this fandom.

MOBEI JUN TIER:

- Every ship is cumplane: we already know Luo Binghe is Airplane's self insert, and Mobei-Jun's cold demeanor is somewhat reminiscent of Peerless Cucumber's tsundere wife-isms, making bingqiu and moshang arguable proto-cumplanes. However, we can go further and argue because Airplane created the entire world of PIDW, all of it in a way reflects him and his feelings, therefore meaning that because it loves Shen Qingqiu and Shen Qingqiu loves it back, every possible PIDW asset x sqq is cumplane in its basest form.

- Original donghua designs: the first pv for the donghua actually featured slightly different designs for bingqiu, which were then changed later in production! You can see the original ones here.

- PIDW is real: someone actually posted PIDW on jjwxc so you can get the real Shen Yuan experience.

SHANG QINGHUA TIER:

- Shen Yuan penetrated into the body of the scum villain: there is a listing for the svsss donghua on Amazon prime video (though no episodes are actually available) which features this banger summary:

 An ordinary youth, Shen Yuan, after reading the novel "Arrogant Gods and Demons' Journey", triggers the mysterious system so that he crosses into the book world and penetrates into the body of villain--Shen Qingqiu. Shen Qingqiu's disciple, Luo Binghe, is the main character of the novel.

- Airplane's foot fetish:

Well holy shit all.

We finally fucking did it! We hit 75,000 signatures! That's crazy! The next goal line is literally twice that, and I know it seems daunting but don't give up, the more we get the more we show how much people want OFMD picked back up! We don't have to make that goal to show how passionate we are, we already have!

I know it feels like we've been doing this forever (12 days can you believe it?) but the scuttlebutt around deck is that we are making waves, and it's good to keep up the engagements so studio execs can see just how much we care!

Blog Moderation FAQs

Hi everyone!

Every time we answer an ask about the queue/inbox situation we get several of the same suggestions in our inbox. While we truly appreciate those of you trying to be helpful, I wanted to take some time to address some of the suggestions and the reasons behind our position on said suggestions.

Have you considered closing the ask box for a while until you work through what you have?

No. With as many asks as there are in the box, it would result in the ask box being closed for quite some time, which we don't think is really what anyone wants!

Closing the box would allow for us to "catch up", but it also would mean potential dry periods of content.

Keeping the ask box open means we need to scroll forever to reach the old asks, but it also means that we are set to deliver consistent content for a while, and are never at risk for an empty queue when the inevitable drop in fandom interest hits.

Why don't you post more frequently?

Actually, we do! We've exploded recently, so many of you may not remember ye olden days of our blog's founder doing their best as a one person show and we got one post a day... ish. Then, when the ask box exploded to 100 asks (haha) they brought in the first round of new mods (including me!). During this time, we were able to build a solid queue. We were then able to post 5-6 times a day.

With a healthy queue and a healthy ask box, we were able to bump the post frequency to 12 times a day. Most of the first wave of mods worked through some asks and then largely went inactive. This is fine, it happens. After struggling to keep up a frequency of 12/day as a one person show once again, we recruited new mods with some activity guidelines.

To maintain a posting frequency of 12 times a day, each mod needs to add 3 posts to the queue a day, or 21 posts to the queue a week. We ask that every mod contributes 30 times a week, that way we have a healthy buffer of content for holidays, emergencies, and just general time away from the internet.

While the confessions are sent in by y'all and editing them in photoshop is a generally simple process, it still does take time. Time in the game to find and take the screenshots, time in the editing software to create the image, then posting and tagging appropriately. Those cursed edits y'all love so much take even more time.

We're all adults here. And your mods are too. They have lives off of tumblr, often complete with bills and day jobs. Honestly, less fun than the little horny blog, but *vague gestures towards capitalist hellscape*

For these reasons, posting 12 times a day is going to be a hard cap for the foreseeable future. In the most loving way possible: If you are submitting an ask now and expecting to see it a week or even a month from now, you are going to be sorely disappointed. Submit your ask and know that it will be appreciated by the community when its time comes.

Why don't you just get more mods?

Have you heard the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen"? Every person added to a process adds another variable, and the more variables, the harder it is to deliver a consistent experience. Additionally, the goal is to find people who can stay pretty consistently active, which can be a hard ask for a lot of people. We're very grateful for the team that we have now, and we aren't seeking new mods at this time.

Why don't you post more confessions about (character/female/etc)?

We are a submissions blog. We work with the content we are given. You need to be the horny you wish to see in the world. I know in general there's a lack of confessions for female characters, and there's an analysis to be made about how different gender/sexual identities interact with fandom and how that affects the content available in communities for consumption, but I'm not the person to make it.

What is Kataang Week?

Kataang Week is when we, as a corner of the fandom, celebrate the ship Kataang! The prompts for Kataang Week 2023 were selected through four rounds of voting over the last few weeks and all prompts were submitted by Tumblr users.

Cool, when is it?

Summer Kataang Week 2023 starts on Monday, July 24th - just over seven weeks from today - and ends on Monday, July 31st.  

How do I participate?

The most common ways to participate are by creating art or writing a fic and posting it online. Some people try and create something for every day while others only fill one or two prompts.  

As always, we want to reassure you that it’s perfectly okay not to do every prompt! We just hope to have lovely pieces to share on each day.

But I can’t draw or write!

That’s totally fine - there are more ways to participate! You can sing a song, create a graphic, write a poem - just about anything really. You can also show your support by reblogging and liking other people’s contributions.

What are the prompts?

The following will be the running order for Kataang Week 2023:

Wind & Rain - Monday July 24th

Injured - Tuesday July 25th

Confession / Whisper - Wednesday July 26th

Cultural Differences/Cultural Exchange - Thursday July 27th

Don’t forget that this year we have the Kataang Week 2023 Bingo Challenge, as well as alternative prompts for Free Day! See the bingo challenge post for more information. 

* As a reminder, Cultural Differences/Cultural Exchange and Reunion/Meeting Again were combined during voting as they were very similar prompts. You can interpret them as singular or separate prompts and incorporate one or both for each day.

** Confession and Whisper, as well as Secretly Dating and Rivals to Lovers, were tied with votes, so instead of flipping a coin/deciding randomly, both tied prompts are included as options. You can incorporate one or both prompts for each day.

How should I tag my work?

The easiest way for us to find your work so we can reblog it to this blog is by using the tag “kataang week”. Using “kataang” and “kataangtag” also help. You must tag one of the three in your first five tags otherwise it doesn’t appear in the search.

Sometimes even properly tagged posts may not appear when we search the tags, so if you do not see your content reblogged, please let us know.

Once we’ve reblogged it to this blog we add our own tags (a prompt tag and a user tag) for easy organization. This means we can find all the work for one prompt or all the work from one user in one easy click (this also means that if you have changed your username since participating last year you need to let us know so we can update your tag!).

Can I post my stuff other places online too?

Of course you can!

Why seven weeks? Is that enough time?

Traditionally, we like to provide our content creators seven weeks (for the seven prompts) to create quality content. Kataang Week is also traditionally held in the last week of July.  

If you are unable to complete a prompt in time, please do not fret. You can alert this blog by mentioning it in your post (ex. @kataang-week​) or messaging one of the mods and your content will still be shared even if it is a week (or a month - or sometimes more!) late.

We also like to post WIP for Kataang Week and encourage everyone else to do so as well - we reblog it here for motivation!

It’s almost November 1st and that means #LunasKinktober2023 is nearing it’s end and wow, it was a wild ride!

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your incredible participation and support during my first ever fandom event, and I also wanted to use this opportunity and pour my heart out over how much this community means to me. 🥹

Everyones enthusiasm and willingness to engage in this creative journey have truly made it a memorable and rewarding experience for me. It warms my heart to see the amazing responses and interactions that took place throughout the event. Your thoughtful comments, reblogs, encouraging messages, and the shared excitement have been a constant source of inspiration and happiness throughout these past few weeks and I can’t thank you guys enough for it.

I’m immensely grateful for the trust you placed in me by sharing your ideas, prompts, and personal stories! Your contributions have enriched the event and made it a space for growth, understanding, and celebration of our unique desires and fantasies.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to my readers and those who took the time to provide constructive feedback and suggestions. Love that post you just reblogged. One of my favourite things about fanfiction is that writers don't feel compelled to make every single thing progress the story or make some larger point. You guys give us lots of scenes that just show the characters interacting, or living, or that are just nice or sweet or funny. And we LOVE those. No need for a constant obsession with an overarching plot.

putting characters in a room together & seeing how they interact has always been my #1, no reservations, very favorite thing about fan fic. i don't think there's anything more valuable in this world than what happens between people, and in retrospect, it's probably no accident that the first fandom i wrote & published fic for was for a show that, for a little while at least, prided itself on focusing on 'the science' instead of the chemistry between its characters.*

when i got your ask last week it got me thinking about the type of fic i wrote most back then. we called them vignettes, in that corner of the internet: (usually) short fics made up of a series of snapshot-like, disjointed scenes that showed mainly moments of interaction or introspection, touching on the plot only as lightly as possible.

and i guess i got nostalgic? because here we are a week later, which i spent happily regressing, and that's what Wit became.

and it's funny, because i went on to ramble to my wife about it, and about how i used to think that writing requires a plot, and how so many people i've talked to have been looking for their story, this impossible, unique premise no one else has written yet, believing if they'd just be able to find that, then they would have their book. and i'm fully, 100% like, no. the story doesn't matter. it's how you write, what you choose to highlight. you could write about anything. you could write about two people meeting when they have to report for jury duty, and that's your story right there.

and then i had to write it, naturally.

i love life. and writing. i'm having one of those weeks, and i thank you very much for contributing to that. ❤️

Wanted to make a quick apology.

There will be no Prime Override chapter update tonight.

Reasons are kinda depresso, so beneath cut. No need to read.

This week has been...rough. I wanted to bask in the satisfaction of having finished my May 4th art, but instead I've been spending every spare moment fighting art theft, some of the art that I'd literally just posted. I've filed numerous DMCA copyright takedown requests on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest (well over a hundred here). I know there are more out there. I am exhausted, and it's a second type of burn out, a worse kind, on top of the burn out of drawing.

I wanted to apologize because this means that instead of drawing or writing, I was copy-pasting links and explaining to various social media staff why thieves shouldn't be allowed to post my work. How "do not repost" is on my watermark on my art itself, how it's on all my socials bios, how it's in my FAQ. Instead of drawing or writing, I had to read the comments other folks were giving people who did not contribute a single second to my work.

I was aiming to get a new chapter of the Prime Override out tonight, but I could not even start.

So yeah. I'm sorry. The emotional toll aside, the very real fear-of-safety anxiety aside (since, y'know, filing DMCAs essentially means doxxing yourself to every thief), this also just took up all the time I would have otherwise spent on art and, it didn't happen.

I also wanted to say thank you.

Many times this week I felt like an absolute idiot, a complete and utter fool for bothering to feel motivated and excited about creating, for being excited to share it, when this is the result. Especially after the marathon effort I'd just gone through...it felt like punishment, in a way, for daring to think my work is worth anything. I will, can, and have left fandoms in the past for art theft, and part of me wondered if the time had come for me this time as well.

In those times, I scrolled mindlessly through the comments y'all have left me. Both on my art posts, in the tags and such on Tumblr, and just going through all my fics on AO3, just kinda reading all the kind words you folks have left me on my work blearily through my tears, to remind me why it's worth it, and it's not just people who want to hurt me out there.

The vast majority of you are so kind, so generous, have taken the time to look at my work and give a like, a reblog, a kudos, a retweet, or the greatest gift in the form of your thoughts and allowing me to feel that I've connected with you.

So thank you. I've had a rough week, but I'll get back up again. I'll try to get out the next chapter, the next art, as soon as I am able. Until then, please know that I appreciate you, and I hope that my future work can mean something to you too.

i’ve been running this blog since i was 15 years old, i started out as @ nihachusnebula , then @ sunshiineshelby , then @ https-glowduo for a long time until finally i became em emily shubblelive.

this blog has been my home for nearly 3 years, and to the nearly 700 people who follow me, i cannot thank you enough. anyone who’s ever liked, reblogged or read one of my fics, you’re absolutely wonderful, and i’m so grateful. but i think this is it for me.

to everyone who has left a request in my inbox, i am sorry. but with everything that’s been going on, i don’t think this blog is right for me anymore. i’m not going to be deleting it/any of my posts, because i get every single message that you guys send saying you love my fics, and that makes me so so happy. i hope people continue to find joy where i can’t in this blog anymore.

i’m not going to name anybody, but there are people on here specifically who greatly contributed to this decision. the community on tumblr quite frankly disappoints me. not just in the recent events that have unfolded, but for months. the dsmp/former dsmp fanfiction community is so incredibly toxic now, and i cannot be a part of it anymore.

people disrespecting streamer’s boundaries, bending over backwards to justify their actions (especially in nsfw contexts). if you see a post saying “i can’t support x streamer because of their actions” and your first thought is “wow, i can’t believe this person took my comfort streamer away.” then i’m sorry, but that’s literally an insane thought. i’ve ignored people’s behaviours for months, i give everyone the benefit of the doubt, i like to think nobody has malicious intentions. but going “you’re parasocial and creepy if you don’t support a person, you don’t know them, they’re not your friends.” just kind of doesn’t cut it in certain scenarios.

with everything the dsmp fan community has gone through in the past few years, this week has truly upset me. it’s the final straw i think.

im not quitting writing, i’m just quitting this blog. if i ever come back with a new blog and a new fandom, i’ll let you know where to find me. i appreciate every single ounce of support that i’ve received over the last 3 years. i’ve made some of my closest friends on this blog. caroline, mar, and so many other people, they’re all so wonderful, and i truly can’t blame people like caroline and florence for leaving because look at what is left.

“That should be all for today folks, get out there do your job and do it good…” Boden finished his morning briefing and as everyone was halfway out the door he stopped them, “Wait, before everyone leaves I just remembered we’re going to have a relief paramedic under Brett as we’re looking for a permanent replacement. He’ll be here…” Boden quickly looked down at his watch to double check the time, “in about an hour. Dawson can assist you until then.”

Sylvie met Boden with a quick frown as she was probably going to be stuck with Chout for the next 24 hours. She then erased the disappointment off her face and gave a small smile to Dawson who’d she be lucky to have working as her partner, even if it was for just an hour of their shift.

“I wonder how many paramedics we’re gonna have paired with Sylvie before Chief Hatcher realizes it’s probably her that’s the problem.” Cruz says in a teasing tone as everyone makes their way into the common room.

Sylvie just rolled her eyes in response lightly punching him in the arm causing a giant reaction from Cruz.

“See! Abuse! Abuse to co-worker right there!” He said walking off and laughing with Brett making Otis’ stomach twist. Despite her rejecting him, he still couldn’t help the feelings he has for her. Otis ended up making his way straight to the bunk room to sulk until the end of shift. Like he would every shift, for the rest of his career.

Exactly one hour later you showed up. Your hair was pulled back into a low braid and you sported the very sexy navy blue cargo pants and just a CFD paramedic quarter zip. Annoyed that you had to be there you took a breath to relax. It’s not their fault that Chout had called in sick last minute causing you to be the backup to the backup, so don’t take it out on them.

Walking into their common room you realized you had no clue where anything was.

“Does anyone know where Chief Boden’s office is?” You ask the group of people scattered throughout the room, and you’re met with silence.

You didn’t want to yell to get their attention like you would at the childish men at house 27. You were like their mother, you wouldn’t put up with any childish or immature bullshit and in return your guys would treat you like any other person. This is because the one time they tried to disrespect you after you called a guy out for being a slob, he tried to grab your ass to which he met your fist with his eye.

Taking a deep breath, you bite your upper lip as you think of which hallway to take. Finally deciding you turn to start walking in which you’re met with running into someone and dropping your stuff everywhere.

You didn’t even look up to see who you ran into before you went to bend down and grab your stuff, guessing whoever you bumped into did that same thing because you both went down at the same time smacking your foreheads off of one another.

“Shit ow.” you both say at the same time groaning in pain for a few seconds before either of you decide to actually get up.

“I’m so sorry, are you okay? I wasn’t watching where I was going and I just ran into you, are you okay? I’m so sorry-” He starts rambling as he hands you your now gathered stuff and you give a brief smile. The second you guys make eye contact it was like the movies. As if time itself had stopped. Unsure what to do because you’ve never felt this before, you scramble to get out of this situation.

“You’re good I wasn’t watching out either.” You say taking your stuff from his hands standing in the now awkward silence for a few seconds as you form a tight line with your lips.

“Your forehead. That was my fault, do you want an ice pack? Tylenol? I’m so sorry again,” He says starting to ramble again causing you to chuckle.

No guy that has ever bumped into you has ever been this worried about your wellbeing. No guy in general has ever been this worried about your wellbeing. As you’re looking up at the guy you ran into you noticed his dark curly hair, and mustache. You’ve always had a thing for mustaches.

“I promise I’m fine.” You say trying to reassure him.

“That’s good. You look new though, and a little lost, are you looking for someone? Something?” He asks causing you to chuckle once again. This guy is just on a roll for firsts. Is this a dream? A guy who is your exact type knows how to make a hell of a first impression that’s for sure.

“I was um, looking for Chief Boden’s office, would you by chance be able to show me where that is?” You ask knowing he would but just trying to be polite.

“Y-yes of course,” But before you guys could start walking a very pretty blonde ran up to you guys.

“Hey are you the relief medic?” She asks out of breath.

“I am,” you say a little confused.

“That’s great, I’m Sylvie, Sylvie Brett. I’ll be your partner today. Sorry I wasn’t here sooner I just got back from a call.”

“No that’s perfect, I was just a little lost. I’m Y/N by the way,” You say extending your hand so she can shake it.

“Well, i’ll um see you around?” mystery mustache guy says excusing himself from the conversation

“Yeah, see you, then?” You blurt out extremely awkwardly internally face palming immediately. Earning a knowing look from Sylvie.

“Ready for the tour? I think you’re really gonna like it here!” She says a little too cheery hoping later on she’ll drop the act and be normal.

“Yeah, thanks.” You respond also hoping she forgets whatever she just saw between you and mustache.

You and Sylvie make your way back into the common room after a few calls and spending half the day together. She was a really good partner, and friend. It definitely beats working with McAuley.

“So who’s this? We never got a proper introduction.” Mouch asked as he was flipping a page in his newspaper.

“Oh yeah, guys this is Y/N, Y/N this is house 51, and just to let everyone know Boden just told us that she’s going to be here for the next few shifts so make her feel at home.” Sylvie says threatening everyone and walking into the kitchen.

You smiled shyly at the group scattered through the room and you walk over to take a seat at the table but before you’re able to, the guy from earlier pulls out the chair for you to sit in.

“M’Lady” He says bowing making you slightly cringe but giggle at the same time because it was pretty cute.

“Thank you…” You start to respond but trail off as you realize you don’t know his name.

“Uh, Brian- or Otis. Yeah Otis I guess.” He says pushing you in and taking a seat next to you.

“So is Otis a nickname?” You ask curiously.

“Um yeah, I’m the elevator guy on truck so,”

“So you’re nicknamed after Elisha Otis? Wow that’s clever. I would’ve never guessed.” You say back intrigued shocking him because no one has ever guessed that before.

“You know a lot about elevators?” He asks still shocked.

“I know a bit, I had a little hyper fixation on it when I was like 12. Lame right?” You say chuckling but stop when you see he’s not laughing.

“What? Do I have something on my face?” You ask wiping the corners of your mouth.

“No it’s just…I think i’m in love with you.” He blurts out making you blush.

“Over knowing a few elevator facts? You might want to look into raising the bar of your standards. I mean at least buy me a drink first.” You say nervously chuckling because as you think about it, you didn’t make a conscious decision to basically ask him to invite you out to a drink but you’re not opposed to it?

“Well that’s convenient since I co-own a bar.” He says nonchalantly making your jaw drop.

“So i’m going to need a list of things you can’t do.” You say sarcastically hoping he picked up on the joke.

“Very funny. There’s no such thing.”

Smiling at the friendly banter you guys have going on, you circle the conversation back to what you know most.

“So you don’t like your nickname?” You ask genuinely curious, because it was a clever nickname.

“Psh, no. My name is Brian Zvonecek, Otis has ruined me.”

“Well Brian Zvonecek, what do you want me to call you?” You ask a little more flirtatiously than you originally intended.

“W-well, actually um, I mean, I think uh,” Brian begins to stumble over his words before aggressively exhaling through his nose and gathering his thoughts,

“I think, I don’t care about what you say when you talk.” He tries to flirt back causing you to raise your eyebrows in amusement. What the hell did he just say?

“T-that came out wrong. I meant,” He tries to fix what he says blushing extremely causing you to start cackling.

“Okay Brian Zvonecek, I’ll just call you Brian. Does that work?” You ask after catching your breath.

Otis now sitting lower in his chair extremely embarrassed mutters an awkward, “perfect.” making you giggle again.

It makes your stomach do summer salts as you think of how flustered he gets around you. It’s shocking how much he seems to like you already, and you know you’ve only known him for a day but you’re starting to think he might have a small crush on you, and honestly? You wouldn’t be opposed to liking him back. He’s cute, he’s like a nervous puppy dog but you know once you guys get to know each other better he’s going to warm up to you.

Wanting to clear up some awkward silence you know Brian wouldn’t be able to fix, you turn to look at him who is already looking at you making you blush even more but you start talking anyway,

“Brian?”

“Yeah?”

“Are you gonna buy me that drink?”

“No”

“Oh”

“We can drink for free.”

At his words your body surges with excitement. So does he want to go out with you? Or is this just a pity thing? Things have never moved this fast with a guy that you’ve met that day. Is he the one? Would you guys get married? You feel so happy right now but you need to snap back to reality.

“Are you free after shift?” He asks a little more nervous than before making you literally want to stand up and kiss his luscious lips.

“I am.” You say back not knowing how discrete you’re being with your feelings.

“Well if you want, you could stop by Molly’s and see everyone.” Brian says making your heart drop. See everyone. Not just him.

“a-and me. Since I’ll be working.” He finally adds on bringing your heart right back up.

“I’ll be there.” You say already planning your outfit in your head.

Do you have any top 5 favourite Meronia creators in the fandom? Like writers and artists

Oh hi! The ask is getting more and more interesting. My favorite list will contain more writers than artists. Because first I can't write. Secondly it was the fanfictions that brought me to this ship (I didn't know Meronia was a thing when I first read the manga. I am sorry I was blind lol). In the past I was more active in fanfiction.net and deviantArt but now all of creators there are inactive so my list will be active ones from AO3 and Tumblr :3

1/ @madmeridian she has a huge library dedicated for Meronia in various different and creative AUs. I really hate their fates in the canon manga so it is nice to see them have a happy life in other AUs. The writing is soft and delicate =v= I even like her angst and pregnant fics (2 things I also dislike for my ship lol) - well... kind of bookmarked all of her works *blush* I am really looking forward to her comeback =v= 2025 eh?

2/ @empressofthewind beside from her fics (which I kind of bookmarked almost her entirely library ehem), her analyses are also exceptionally fun to read xDD (love her sense of humor) every ask is answered with deep and thoughtful long-ass essay, which shows both her respect to the fans and her love for the ship!

3/ @neallo I hold another level of respect for this creator, not only for her writing contribution for the ship, but also her effort to grow the community bigger. To me she is a silent heroin who not only does her role well but also goes beyond and supports/encourages other writers/artists/hobbyists so that they carry on with the ship and always gives off a positive and inspirational vibe. Thank you big girl. You are queen of creator <3<3<3

(I have never told her before but I secretly love all of her works where Near is submissive *cough*)

4/ @m1chael-langd0n Near is kinda OOC in their fics (which normally I also dislike for my favorite characters) but the writing is so good that I turn to like them xDDD (and even open a whole new fantasy world inside my head which has kept me entertained for several weeks now). I hope they will finish their fics some day soon <3 bless you and your daughter <3

5/ To be honest Meronia fanarts are very modest compared to my other fandoms. But thankfully I've found this artist's pivix and Tumblr accounts so I am kinda content now =v= @user-null love their style <3

Another bonus artist, whom I don't know name and can't find their original gallery, and only own 3 of their works (if you know please gimme the link. Thanks in advance) T_T but they draw girl!Near and the style is so close to the original manga. I love it so much!!! They make such a cute couple.

Hello all,

The first edition of House of the Dragon Big Bang was brought to a close on Friday. Now that I’ve had the weekend to decompress, and everyone has (hopefully) had a chance to catch up with everyone else’s entries, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for all for the hard work you’ve put into this event. Each and every one of you should be proud of what you have contributed, and I can’t thank you all enough for taking a chance on this (and by extension, me!)

The good: I’m astonished by the talent that has graced the event this year. The writing has all been fantastic, and the effort that everyone has put in has shone through. I’ve also enjoyed the variety; I was anticipating drowning in Aemond content, but was pleasantly surprised at the diversity - Jacelaena and Jacegon were the standout ships of the event for me! The artists have all outdone themselves, and the array of differing mediums has been great; from stunning moodboards and expertly detailed digital art to lovingly crafted hand drawn pieces. Last but not least, are our event beta readers - keeping people motivated when they feel as though they're flagging, or just tidying up grammar and punctuation where needed - you've been absolute superstars. I really hope everyone is pleased with and proud of what they’ve collaborated to produce.

The bad: This is the first event of its kind for this particular fandom, so it has not been without its teething issues. Ensuring everyone sees all of the updates and instructions, and is kept informed of what’s happening has been a struggle. Not everyone is comfortable joining a Discord server, Tumblr only allows for 20 tags per posts and even then is spotty with notifications. For next time, on the sign up sheet, I will include a contact preference option and push out notifications via email newsletter, Tumblr and Discord, targeted specifically to who has selected which options, so everyone is kept up to date. I will also implement check ins to ensure everyone has what they need and is able to manage their workload effectively to meet the deadline.

The ugly: I received a rather unsavoury anonymous ask on the Big Bang Tumblr account, slating me as a person and how I was running the event. Considering the first fic had yet to even go live, I was a little shocked by this. When I posted about it in the Discord, they sent a follow up, but forgot to toggle anon, so I saw who it was. I won’t put you on blast, but I hope now that the event has drawn to a close your opinion is a little less sour. If not, perhaps you’ll have a better experience next time, or find another event that’s better suited. C’est la vie!

I am aiming for these to be bi-annual events. We will absolutely go again, and come back bigger and better. I plan to launch this again in May, so the sign up and pairing process will begin around the end of January, to ensure people have sufficient time to prepare. In the meantime, we will be running another writing prompt event in December - much like September’s literary prompt event - so if you’re looking for more writing challenges then please get involved when this launches.

I’ll be creating a masterlist of everyone’s Big Bang entries, which will go live by the end of the week.
