i hope this is not trigger warning but do you think viserys and aemma consumating the marriage after 2 years was likely viserys putting imense ammounts of pressure on aemma to "do her duty" and abuse her like drogo does with daenerys in agot? the way he pressured aemma with so much pregnancies i think he started pressuring her right after they married and thats so horrible and monstruous to think about because i dont think anyone would care if viserys "consumated" (read: rape) the marriage right after and then aemma develops some sort of stockolm syndrome like daenerys does for drogo and thinks that is what real love is like, everyone failed aemma so much.
if were comparing it to main series characters i think its probably closer to when sansa got her first period. that now shes a “woman” shes expected to consummate her marriage and start giving her husband children. i think the initial pressure was less from viserys himself and more the situation as a whole. aemma being taken away from her family, with no one on her side to look out for her, married to someone older than her and being told she doesnt have to yet, but she will be expected to sleep with him eventually. like what is aemma supposed to do? what is she supposed to think? i think youre right about the stockholm syndrome-type thing. that like dany, aemma *had* to learn to accept the situation she was in. if she couldnt, it would break her. unlike dany, aemma had two years to get to know (be groomed by) viserys before she had to start having sex with him. you spend enough time around someone and you will eventually find things about them you like, it was these little things aemma clung too. to convince herself she loved viserys, and that he loved her.
i say i dont think it was viserys himself necessarily pressuring aemma *into* sex, because it wouldve been made clear to him when hes told about his marriage to aemma that shes still a child. that hell have to wait until shes "flowered" to consummate their marriage. and thats just like, a law of the land he lives in. that girls are children until they get their period (and theres not really a ‘point’ in him sleeping with aemma before he can get her pregnant)
by the time aemma does get her period shes been so groomed into her position that she just kinda… accepts it

1. How did they first meet?
in St Denis at a bar lmao. he finds Bill and Lua and Vi after they saved Bill’s ass on a job that went awwwwwry. Bill’s fucken sloshed and like ‘they gotta come with us they would be useful aorthur’ and Arthur would be like ‘.... I GUESS’ and Lua n Vi are like cheers i’ll drink to that.
2. What did they think of each other at first? What was their first impression of the other?
Lua thought he was fucking handsome but quiet as alll hell a little awkward lol. also guarded; she’d wanna ask about the things he’s writing and drawing in his journal but wouldn’t ask because she feels it’d cross some boundary with him. Arthurrrrrrrr would draw her (like he does everyone its no big shut up!!!) and write something about how she’s new but he’d like to know her, he’s liked how he is around her and hopes that lasts. also she’s pretty sure sure.
3. Were they immediately interested / attracted, or did that come later?
UM like! yes and no! attraction was TOTAAALLLLY there but they both have,,, issues (because u fucking know Arthur is there like ‘well im fucking ugly’ and everyone else in the world is like ??? ??? but anyway) and so nothing actuallllly substantial happened until Arthur almost died in Guarma because of course it takes a big dramatic event for them to accept their,,,, feelings. crazy kids!!!
4. Why did they fall for each other?

ok but like Arthur is the nicest and most genuine person Lua’s ever met and when she finally does ask about his journal she asks if he draws places he’d like to go one day because lord knooows she would love to be anywhere but the camp and he tells her he only draws what he knows and she says maybe it’s worth leaving to see more and when he tells her that if she left he’d go too she believes him and thinks maybe they could get away from all this and find something that fits and works for them in the world that’s changing and shifting away from the type of life they lead far faster than they can keep up with. maybe when arthur takes a moment to brush a feather or a flower or dried fucking grass out of lua’s hair and uses it as an opportunity to tuck her hair behind her ear and be close to her for a moment he doesn’t think he should have, a moment he’s feels he’s stealing from her, he knows that when she tells him he’s a good man she’s sincere and he wants so badly to believe it when it comes from her lips so in that moment he does.

Lua lol. But that’s also kind of just how she is as a person. but with Arthur she’d actually mean it lol. He would make his self-deprecating comments about how he’s super ugly or a bad baaaad man she’d say he’s far from it.

um it was a mutual thing u know. Arthur’s like basicalllllly dead and sun roasted on a horse returning from Guarma w a fresh case of TB and i have to pause a moment brb
ok right so with Lua seeing Arthur not dead like she thought is fucking overwhelmed by what she’s feeling and rushes to hug his crispy ass and when all their excitement and the Big Energy from that has passed Lua says “i love you, just. by the way. I’m glad you’re back” and Arthur responds by holding her face and telling her how when he was out there he kept thinking that one of the first things he needed to do when he got back was tell her that he loved her because he didn’t want to die without telling her. hmmm foreshadowing wrow.

one time when they were drunk and they didn’t talk about it after don’t worry about it mind your business, they did so why cant you???

I honestly cannnnot see Arthur being a jealous type because he’s got that self esteeeeem issue problem and would go for some self-deprecating shit before jealousy like “yeah there’s someone out there better than me, I don’t blame her”. so i guess the answer there is Lua?? but at the end of the day i dont see them caring too much because they’ve gotttta make up for lost time lol.
9. What do they fight about? Who’s the first to apologize?
haha after Arthur Realizes™ how he feels about Lua they go on a heist and she gets hurt but hides it until they’re back at camp and he gets so! mad! when he finds out he snaps at her like ‘what if it were worse what if she didnt make it back?’ and then Realizes™ part 2 that he was just scared of losing her and apologizes but doesn’t go into big big detail because this is stillll before anything actually significant has happened w them and they’re both like “oh my feelings couldn’t possibly be requited and therefore are not real.”

not realllllly the closest thing would be pretending to be newlyweds on a heist n_~

ALL PARTIES APPROVE LMAO. e v e r y o n e knew how they felt about each other before they did and would try to get them to admit it especiallllly Vi and Rosa!!! they’d tease Lua like “ADMIT IT U IDIOT” and she’d be like “shut up Kieran is,,, weird and John smells like a horse!!!”
Most importantly tho Hosea thinks it’s good and that they’d be able to make a nice life together. lol.

i just said time is fleeting!!! but also ok like! they’re drunk one night, shortly after Lua and Vi join the gang, and the night ends w just them at the campfire and some romantic (but like when youre just meeting someone and ur drunk and like sure romance lol) shit happens. lua’s like ‘just dance with me it’ll be fun! there’s no one around!’ and arthur, reluctant, is like ‘well alright’ but he’s smiling he’s content and then they have a really sloppy night together that afterwards neither of them acknowledge for a long long while. after theyre like fucken weird around each other for a bit. Lua obviously tells Vi and then Rosa because she caannnnot keep that secret for long but what she can do for a long is deny any feelings she has for Arthur lol. Things stop being weird when she tells herself it was just a one night thing and Arthur isn’t into her like that. Put it in a box amirite n_~

Anyway like, i am a Shallow sw viewer who isn’t actually likely to kick up a fuss abt what i didn’t like in any serious way even tho i got issues, But i wanna say what i really liked b/c?? there were moments in that movie with themes i Loved and i don’t wanna be negative nancy for this franchise because i am actually incapable of taking it seriously tbh no matter how wtf or wild it is and i just Gotta;
First of all. The entire franchise was worth Rey it for calling Leia Master.
like, they added her in best as they could, which wasn’t fabulous but i can’t really say how they’d work their way around that tbh so i’m not gonna rag on abt the Leia plot But god they proper confirmed she was a Legit Jedi thank u V much.

they put porgs in the movie, it was my only request and i recieved. i am content.
also the effects on old palps were Incredible and Creepy and!!! props to the vis effects teams

idk what extended sw canon now says about force powers being able to heal But the old eu book shatterpoint is one of my faves and i loved the inclusion that Rey can just like. Heal.
also lol i heard daisy ridley on the radio this morning and she was supposed to be requesting songs to air but didn’t know the names of them and i have Never related to anybody more than i did in that moment.

as much as i’m not a kyle fan and never will be, and as much as i am not a fan of the ship, i can’t say there there weren’t decent thematic threads around the rey and kylie plot. Her symbolically killing kylie in a fit of rage, actively actually rising to his bait, realising as luke did in the roj climax that she had let the dark side get the better of her But having the power to take that Back and heal him and Stop even after she’d done something. It’s like the originals but not. And so, kylo is dead and Solo walks again. Was this plot My thing? No. But i appreciate the symbolism of him being stabbed through the stomach like he did to Han, and i appreciate the contrast of her actions after doing that versus His after he did it. i. born and fostered out of love, teddy leung is the son of a first generation chinese american military officer and a thai lounge singer. having met while his father was stationed overseas, his parents fell in love but just before they could get their relationship could fully bloom, teddy’s father was sent back to america. regretfully, teddy’s parents parted ways but even with an ocean between them, the culmination of their short-lived romance grew into a new life.
ii. teddy was a surprise, to everyone involved, and in fear for his love and his child’s life in the hands of her traditionalist parents ( afterall she was young, unwed and pregnant ), teddy’s father sent for her, causing her to have to leave everything she knew behind for a man she knew for only eight months. but they were in love and they both felt as if their situation was the fates telling them to be together.
iii. teddy came into the world kicking and screaming, his little lungs gasping for air as his limbs stretched out of their confines for the first time. an explosive ball of energy that his mother ate up and his father smiled down on protectively. he was their special boy, golden and proof that all their hardships -- the arguments, the alienation of her family, the stress -- was all worth it in the end.
iv. and for the first few years, it was harmonious. all focus was on raising teddy and providing for him, his father training the battalion on fort irwin and his mother working as a music teacher for the kids in the area. then, in the aftermath of 9/11, teddy’s father was deployed for five years on active duty in afghanistan where he served until a hostile bombing left him injured.
v. returning home after all that time away was an adjustment for teddy’s father, having to cope with not only the strain of physical therapy and ptsd, but also with his 7-year-old son whom he hadn’t spent any real time with since the boy was three. but, teddy, with his big, wondering eyes and even bigger, tender heart, tried to connect with his father the way he was close with his mother.
vi. but even then, there was only so much that teddy and his father could see eye to eye on. art and music became a big part of teddy’s life, while sport and the sciences were his father’s interests. it alienated them both from each other, for the short while before teddy’s father accepted a recruitment job in san diego and became busy again.
vii. in san diego, teddy found a little more independence, enrolling in the local public school instead of the school on the army base. and things were fine, again, until they weren’t. by the time teddy was 11, he developed ménière’s in his left ear, causing him to become hard of hearing on top of bouts of vertigo and tinnitus. he fought a lot with his parents then, his angsty teenage bullshit hitting an absolute peak early on when his parents wanted him to get fitted for an aid and he wanted to just let nature take its course ( he still has his one good ear, he’d argue ).
viii. eventually, they came to an agreement, that teddy would go to counselling and learn asl in lieu of getting an aid, and that teddy wouldn’t complain when his family relocated again in the beginning of his freshman year of high school. moving, this time to colorado, drove a deeper wedge between teddy and his father. and as much as he loves the man, they just didn’t seem to click anymore.
ix. so teddy tried to be a good son for him, focused on school and behaved the best he could. it was only after teddy started applying for university, that he felt the spark of excitement again. the possibility of going back to the place he was the longest, to southern california, was all that he cared about. his college years were going to be the time he became more independent from his parents, finally gaining some semblance of his own person beyond what his parents tried to mold him into.

Random question: where do you consider yourself, politically? I'm not sure where I'm at but the stuff you and some other ppl I follow is really eye opening - like seeing discussion/critique of antifa action basically doesn't exist in my current circles. I've always felt a little iffy about the "extreme left" but any time I try to talk to my friends about it they just double down or get defensive so... anyways! Dig ur blog a lot. x3

Sadly, in my experience, I find that Tumblr is one of the WORST places to discuss things at all... and not just in the political sense. In many cases that I have seen and experienced is that there are no proper discussions, rather just a childish sense of: “I’m right, you’re wrong, that’s the end of it.”
To Tumblr rhetoric is an afterthought or just completely dead; and the notion of being wrong on something (an idea, thought, opinion, etc) is considered to be sacrilegious to their very identity and being. Vis a vis, personal responsibility and the chance to grow and learn is severely damaged by this mindset.
Communication and the open and respectable passing around of ideas and thoughts are crucial for the advancement of society and the betterment of man as a whole.
But I digress.
Where I stand politically is difficult to answer... Because if you ask my leftist friends they would tell you I am more right. You ask my right friends and they would tell you I am more left than them. So I suppose that makes me a centrist?
But honestly, I avoid applying such labels to myself as I feel it “boxes” me in. If I were to say I am right-wing then that applies that I must follow every single thought and opinion of the right (let's say as an example their opinion of governing morality and freedom/property rights I do not necessarily agree with) and I don’t. Same as if I were to claim that I was leftist I don’t agree with everything they go for. (Such as anti-gun laws and abortion.)
My line of thought is education, investigation and concluding my own thoughts and opinions from gathering information from both sides. If one side has something or is vying for something I deem morally or economically right then I agree with them. If one side is doing or saying/spreading stupid shit I call them out on it and disagree. Long story short: I just don’t take sides.
And yes there are gray areas to both sides, and having a sort of “wishy-washy attitude” many would say is imprudent and even hindering. But I don’t feel I am back and forth because I hold steady to my opinions and I have firm ones at that. I am just willing to look and consider it from all angles, is all. And importantly, consider if I am wrong.
I will be the first to say as well that I am not as knowledgeable as I should be in certain areas, and I - like any other person - can be and have been wrong before! But I am willing to learn, I am willing to see another side, and I am willing to the research necessary to have a cohesive and factual sense of the situation.
With that said my opinion on Antifa is that I find them hypocritical, ignorant and self-entitled at the very LEAST. I find them and the movement entirely abhorrent. Antifa has shown time and again that they have become the very thing they claim to be fighting against. At their core, they are vying for a totalitarian regime in which there are no open discussions and that violence is acceptable against those who do not fit their line of thinking and do not follow what they deem is “correct”. (Fascism is loosely defined as “ Fascism is a form of government which is a type of one-party dictatorship. Fascists are against democracy. They work for a totalitarian one-party state.” Which all I have to say to that is: If the boot fits.)
The very worst part is they do it under the guise of having the “moral high-ground.” And while on that high-ground they do not care who they harm along the way, whose lives they destroy, and what other moral injustices they commit to obtaining what they want. Their stance on free speech is disgusting and is ideal for their totalitarian line of thinking and governing; silencing anyone who may oppose them with at the least labeling one as a “nazi” or worst resulting in physical violence or destroying livelihoods. They do not care even if one of their own has been harmed in the chaos, deeming it “par for the course” and a “small sacrifice for the greater enemy.”
I find them as abhorrent as I would an ACTUAL white supremacist/nazi. To me, there is no difference between the two; as both are hateful, ignorant, violent, and unwilling to change or compromise and will brainwash and destroy and put down anyone and do whatever it takes to fulfill their goals and regime.
And you wanna know the saddest part? Antifa in the last couple of years has caused MORE damage and violence than the KKK / Neo Nazis have in the last several. You wanna know why? Because every sensible and average Joe agrees that these groups are bad and DESPICABLE. These groups are the MINORITY population, and we as humans are more than willing to agree that these racist and extreme thoughts are abhorrent. And it when it comes to action we are willing to stand against it, when and if it were to occur.
But Antifa? They use their so called moral high-ground and justice to their advantage BECAUSE majority of the population knows Nazis are disgusting. So they cut the cloth as if you are not with them, you are against them, and thus you HAVE to be a Nazi supporter by default. They use fear mongering and manipulation to paint themselves and their movement in this sparkling glitter-toned light when in actuality they are just as terrible as the people and groups they claim to oppose.
That's the basic of it, I don’t really have time right now to sit down and share more.
