Different anon, but have you went into setting/dashboard to turn off everything you don't like? The tumblr "algorithm" is broken. Another thing I'd noticed, was that sometimes when I reblogged something tagged as, tumblr would show me a post in "Check out these blogs" with that tag in my dash.

The thing is, I don’t want to turn off entire tags because I don’t have a problem with those tags; I have a problem with individual blogs. And if tumblr gives me the option to say I do not want to see a specific post, they should not then show me the post again five minutes later. If I have an entire blog blocked, tumblr should not then continue to put posts from it on my “for you” page every five minutes as a “things you might like” suggestion. If tumblr is going to ignore the content moderation abilities that it gave me, that’s a tumblr problem, not a me problem.

Erdogan won again allegedly. Some of the Turkish Germans and the Turkish Austrians are celebrating on the streets of Munich and the 10th district in Vienna. I wonder why they enjoy their freedoms in these EU countries, but forbid their families, relatives, friends and acquaintances, Landsleute (or former) back in Turkey to enjoy theirs. This is puzzling to me.

Edit: Seeing a picture where they show Erdogan’s sycophants doing a Grey Wolves greeting makes me vomit. The far-right and the Islamists are laughing right now.

Hive is pretty much dead in the water, I haven’t heard anything about mastadon in months, and its making me wait to see if blue sky will be anything.

Tiktok and instagram are not based around communication (and insta is almost impossible to follow) and reddit is also dying.

This site is the only thing going strong and its far from even good.

Paul gave an interview to Titbits magazine in 1983 (his introspective and brutally honest period), where he admitted that he’d been ‘stand-offish’ with John because he was hurt and ‘human’. In an interview the year before, he said he had been ‘fearful’ of John and Yoko. I think he made a bit of an effort for old time’s sake, or maybe even for business reasons, but ultimately couldn’t get past his own hurt feelings.

Hmmmm. Okay, I can certainly see this being true to an extent. Like, obviously their interactions would have been strained. Too much shit had passed between them for it to be all easy-going. And I’m 100% sure he was at times bitter at all the times he picked up after John (and literally picked him up) only to be told repeatedly that he never cared. It would be impossible for him not to feel that way.

Obviously Paul’s also said that they had great times together too, talking about bread and fatherhood. As long as business wasn’t involved, they were fine. That seemed to be John’s take (most of the time too).

It does seem, though, that Paul’s actions weren’t stand-offish. Inviting someone to be on your album is the opposite really. And he said himself that he only intervened because he thought it would help them. I don’t think Paul “sent John back to Yoko”. What would be the point? It’s not like John was relying on him and Paul wanted shot of him. John wasn’t chasing him around and calling whenever they arrived at a new place. That was Paul. He seemed to genuinely want them to work together. I think he thought he’d get brownie points with Yoko and she’d be more supportive of their working together. Paul has never been one for reading a room.

That wasn’t the only time Paul went out of his way to see John and make contact. It seems to have been almost exclusively Paul in fact. Again. After John died I can very well believe that Paul felt bitter about that or like he hadn’t tried hard enough. He could well have also felt like they never really healed. Because they didn’t. They never were the same as they’d been before the split. That’s undeniable.

But I don’t think that means Paul didn’t want them to be. I, as you say, wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. But why was he pursuing John so hard? Unless he was trying to work together purely for commercial reasons, but, again, why? Paul didn’t need that.

And why is Paul still writing songs about John “all the time”, if he’d cut him out emotionally? Paul seems, when he does that, to essentially never engage with the person again. So, I dunno. Seems like there was unfinished business to me.

I do think some of Paul’s weirdness could be explained by a potential reunion that never happened before John died. There are a couple of accounts that suggest they saw each other much more recently before his death than Paul says. Why he’s doing that I’m genuinely not sure. I could speculate but that’s not what you’re asking, so I won’t.

While that absolutely plays a part, I actually genuinely think Hiddleston’s age has more to do with it. He’s not on the internet much (if at all) and so that’s going to create a disconnect from a lot of information of what young LGBT people want/need right now.

As for overall lack of knowledge regarding queer issues, his identity might play more into that. But the reason I feel it’s more to do with his age is because there are other straight and cisgender allies who are very good at advocating (and from England too - hiiiiii Daniel Radcliffe and Jade Thirlwall) and do so in a genuine and non performative way.

And I don’t think Hiddleston is doing any of this on purpose. But the whole “to the people who noticed” is an admittance of the fact that the line was just that: one. Single. Line. It’s okay to not be very educated on topics, but it’s only okay if you recognize that. I don’t even think Hiddleston has any type of obligation to be informed - I don’t believe in forcing celebrities to be examples of politic figures or morality.

But when you decide to take on the role of representing someone/a group, you need to do so correctly. You need to put in effort in. If you’re going to make Loki bi AND present that as a big deal, then yes, you have an obligation to do it right. And the Loki show… well, they didn’t.
