Note for !au both sides of Bluestar and Oakheart’s family are cursed. Oakheart is of course plagued by the curse of the queen, a old myth by Riverclan and Thunderclan’s minds but a very real curse placed by Mapleshade long ago. While Bluestar has a prophecy of greatness and power bestowed to her, she also has a underlying curse to walk her world alone and eventually go mad.
Curses aren’t often known by cats but are found and created by spirits so emotional it creates a scratch on destiny itself. Curses can also come with gifted power or prophecies, prophecy or power bearing cats always have a curse that comes with their unnatural blessings. Goosefeather had a curse that came with his power, other cats with lesser curses are Spottedleaf, Stormtail, all cats still in Mapleshade’s line of sight, the Three, and a few others who have more role based curses. I want to expand on this but I really enjoy curses a lot when it comes to stories. I’ll probably change or shift a few of these cats and there are more I just didn’t list!

Bumble's Curse AU (DOTC) (half-baked)
The Bullshit
I think what really annoys me about Bumble's death aside from the sexism and xenophobia and the sending her back to an abuser and not doing anything against Clear Sky is the fact that THEY AT LEAST COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING WITH IT.
Think about it. The first main character of the series was Rusty/Firestar, a kittypet who proved himself over and over in spite of his origins and became legend among the Clans.
Then we flashback to the creation of the Clans and have Bumble, who was rejected for her kittypet origins and.......nothing comes from it. Literally nothing reasonable.
What They Could Have Done
They could have still killed her, much as that scene absolutely sucked, if it was to intentionally show the Clans' xenophobia, to show the Clans' flaws and how that will eventually lead to Firestar changing things. But rejecting Bumble as a Clanmate was seen as a completely good thing??
Like they could have deliberately made their stories correlate in opposite directions.
So what if the Clans actually faced consequences for literally not helping Bumble when she was abused and leading her on the path of death?
I like the idea of her relating to water or ice, as that's the opposite of fire.
My Main Idea
She becomes a crying spirit, so distraught from her death and how she was treated by everyone--friends to enemies--in her life, that her ghost, if seen, is seen always crying
(cats can't cry, but in the books they shrug, show the whites of their eyes, have kits talk and open their eyes at like one day, so I think it's fine)
The emotions engulf her entirely, so that all she can feel in her death is utter sorrow. And because ~spirit powers~ those tears are the waters that flood SkyClan--the Clan that was founded by her killer. Because she sees how many kittypets reside in it, and if she wasn't so destroyed, so constricted in how she could feel as a spirit doomed to always feel only sadness, she would have been glad for them, she would have been happy!
But because she was a crying spirit, she could only cry at the unfairness of it. Why could they get the life that she had wished for herself?
And, as Patchpelt once said in Forest of Secrets: "I remember the last time the river overflowed, many moons ago. Cats from all Clans drowned. Prey drowned, too, and we went hungry even though our paws stayed dry. This is not just RiverClan's problem."
Maybe Bumble had to do with that flood as well? It's not seen in books, so it could have happened for a number of reasons. Maybe when Featherstorm met with a kittypet or had a kittypet's kits? Maybe, to tie them further, when Firestar was born and she could feel the prophecy, and knew of a kittypet that would be accepted into the Clans and become a wonderful leader?
As well, there's the flood in Bramblestar's Storm--though the kittypets join afterward. What if Benny was destined to become someone great, almost like Firestar, but this knowledge upset Bumble further, resulting in the flood.
As well, Shadowstar lost a life to drowning--and she was the leader to reject Bumble.
To make this short and not put in detail every water-related incident, here's a list of those that drowned, and thus could have possibly been killed (unintentionally and unknowingly) by Bumble:
Splashpaw [died offscreen in Dawn]
--
Woodkit + Robinkit [Leopardstar's Honour]
--
Tadpole [Tigerstar and Sasha] (kittypet that would have joined the Clans, as would Hawk and Moth, but they survived)
--
Lichenfur [Skyclan and The Stranger]
--
Flametail [Night Whispers]
--
Blackstar [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Seedpaw [Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Pebblefoot [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Grasspelt [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Snipkit [Hawkwing's Journey] (Skyclan + being chased away by someone who was once a kittypet possibly induced Bumble's crying??)
--
Juniperclaw -[AVOS]
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
You may say that Bumble's no killer, and I would agree with you! In this case, the deaths are not murders, Bumble is not killing them intentionally--she likely doesn't even realize that she's killing them at all.
She is constantly crying in her afterlife, and whenever she sees something that especially triggers the deep sorrow inside her (like something that reminds her of her own pain or the life she could have had), a flood results--and the flood could kill anyone that gets caught in it, regardless of if they, specifically, caused her sadness.
Then, what if someone--Firestar, Princess, Echosong, another kittypet or kittypet-turned warrior finds her, and breaks the trance that had engulfed Bumble for years?
And she realizes the monster that she had become, that she made herself into, that the Clans made her into--no, the Clan founders, because these cats alive now were innocent. Just like she was. and she breaks down. The numb exterior that had built after decades of living as a crying spirit shatters, and Bumble is Bumble again.
More ideally, everyone who killed/rejected her apologize deeply. Maybe she accepts, maybe she doesn't, she's just glad to have the pain mostly gone, because she spent too long suffering and making others suffer because of it, and she just wants to move on.
And together, they send a message to the Clans to not neglect help from anyone who may need it, regardless of where they come from, and to think twice before rejecting someone based solely on where they come from. -- At least then they could admit the whole xenophobia problem in Warriors and try to fix it.
--
This is still very wonky, especially that ending part. My brain is still fried to blackened ash from final exams, but I thought of this and wanted to get it out there.
I think Bumble would be more interesting of a character if she was, you know, a character and not a prop, written only to be abused, neglected, killed, and forgotten. And I think it would be interesting if the Clans' xenophobia was called out and dealt with instead of something that's treated as perfectly okay and normal.

tigerblood's curse
so crooekdstar is appledusk's great grandson.
in this au, mapleshade haunts oakstar's bloodline. brambleclaw is oakstar's great grandson.
oakstar's son, pinestar, eventually becomes leader after doestar. pinestar then has a son, tigerstar who does all his canon stuff. then you have bramblekit. judged by his clan and abandoned by his sister and even looked down upon by his mentor, he is visited by mapleshade who empathizes with him, saying that she too was ostracized from her clan. she makes bramblekit promise to her that he will be loyal to thunderclan above all else.
so death begins to follow brambleclaw.
his half brother swiftpaw dies brutally. his uncle snowkit is taken by a hawk. his foster sister feathertail is impaled by a stone. his foster brother stormfur leaves the clans. his half brother hawkfrost kills his mentor and leader firestar.
brambleclaw is recruited into the dark forest by mapleshade somewhere in this. tigerstar doesnt know mapleshade cursed brambleclaw so tigerstar is just happy to see his son take after him

WC Skyfall AU Timeline: From The Skyfall to The Light in the Mist
This is a draft timeline for the Skyfall AU outline. All dates are approximate and subject to change.
Winter 1920 - Skyclan is exiled from the forest after human settlement drives them from their home territory. The remaining clans refuse to aid the homeless clan and Skyclan leaves the forest. Only Birdflight, the mate of Cloudstar of Skyclan, and their kittens remain behind. Skyclan vows to never turn to Starclan again, causing the formation of the Skypaws, which becomes Skyclan's ancestral skies.
Spring 1921 - Skyclan arrives at the gorge. Cloudstar dies soon after, the stress of the events in the forest and the subsequent journey catching up to him. Buzzardstar is named leader.
1938-1940 - The Thunderclan Civil War fought between the Cloudstar and Redstar's descendants within Thunderclan. The result is the death of many warriors and the Thunderclan leader (and Cloudstar descendant), Yarrowstar, and the formation of the Skybloods as a group within Thunderclan.
Summer 1950 - Amberstar of Thunderclan becomes the first true Skyblood leader of Thunderclan. Her descendants (Birdstar, Oakstar, Pinestar, Tigerstar of Shadowclan, and Bramblestar) would lead Thunderclan for the majority of the next several decades.
1958 - Birdstar of Thunderclan and Frondstar of Shadowclan begin leading raids into the town, kidnapping kits in the process. These raids would continue through the reigns of the leaders' successors Oakstar and Houndstar.
1975 - Mapleshade's Vengeance takes place. Darkstar of Riverclan, upset at Oakstar for damning the kittens along with the mother, adds a law to the warrior code: Kittens are to be protected, regardless of their origins or the actions of their kin.
"Mapleshade may have been the one to bring those kittens to the river, but they would not have been there had it not been for your rashness, Oakstar. Kittens are not to be blamed for the actions of their kin."
1984 - Pinestar's Choice begins
1985 - Doestar of Thunderclan ends the raids on the town and establishes friendly, although fragile, relations with the cats of the town.
1986 - Goosefeather's Curse begins [this may be scrapped-- I am not a big fan of this novella or it's implications for future events]
1989 - Yellowfang's Secret and Tallstar's Revenge begin
1991 - Pinestar becomes leader of Thunderclan
1994 - Bluestar's Prophecy and Crookedstar's Promise begin
1996 - Pinestar leaves Thunderclan to become a house-cat, abandoning his family in the process. Leopardfoot, his ex-mate, suggests a new law for the code in her anger: A noble warrior rejects the life of a house-cat and will lay down their life in service of their clan
1997 - Tallstar becomes leader of Windclan and Leopardstar's Honor begins.
Winter 1998 - Blueflame [Bluefur/Bluestar] gives birth to Mistykit, Stonekit, and Mosskit in Thunderclan. Mistykit and Stonekit are given to their father, Oakheart of Riverclan, while Mosskit passes away on the trip to the river. Blueflame is named deputy of Thunderclan.
2000 - Redtail's Debt and Spottedleaf's Heart begin. Crookedstar becomes leader of Riverclan.
2001 - Bluestar becomes leader of Thunderclan.
Spring 2003 - Rusty the Kittypet joins Thunderclan as Firepaw. Windclan is driven from the forest by Brokenstar.
Summer 2003 - Brokenstar is driven out of Shadowclan.
Early Fall 2003 - Fireheart and Graystripe help bring Windclan home after they are driven out by Brokenstar.
2005 - Tigerclaw is exiled from Thunderclan. Fireheart is named deputy of Thunderclan.
2006 - Firestar becomes leader of Thunderclan. The Darkest Hour takes place.
2007 - Firestar's Quest takes place. Skyclan is re-established in the gorge, albeit with very different structure from the Forest Four due to a prolonged time apart. Leafstar is made leader of the newly refounded clan, with Sharpclaw as her deputy and Echosong as her cleric.
2008 - The New Prophecy begins
2009 - the clans arrive at The Lake. Leafpool discovers the Moonpool
2009 - Windclan Civil War takes place after Tallstar's death. Peatstar [Onestar] is named leader of Windclan.
2010 - Leopardstar passes away and Mistystar becomes leader of Riverclan.
2011 - The Three are born to Leafpool of Thunderclan. Her sister, Squirrelflight, adopts the kittens and presents them to the clan as her own. In reality, Lionkit is the son of Leafpool and Mothwing of Riverclan while Jaykit and Hollykit are the kits of Leafpool and Crowfeather of Windclan.
2013 - The Battle of the Eclipse takes place.
Spring 2014 - Hollyleaf reveals the truth of the Three's parentage at a gathering and murders Ashfur before fleeing into the tunnels.
Summer 2014 - The Fourth Apprentice takes place.
Summer 2016 - The Battle of the Dark Forest takes place. Blackstar of Shadowclan dies in the battle and Tawnystar becomes leader of Shadowclan. Firestar of Thunderclan also dies in the battle and Bramblestar becomes leader of Thunderclan.
2018 - The Apprentice's Quest takes place
2019 - Darktail and The Kin arrive at the Lake
Fall 2019 - Tawnystar is killed attempting to drive Darktail away from the lake. Shadowclan is temporarily leaderless.
2020 - Darktail is killed by his estranged father, Peatstar. Harestar becomes leader of Windclan and Goldenstar becomes leader of Shadowclan.
2021 - Lost Stars takes place.
2022 - Ashfur is defeated. A shaken Bramblestar steps down from leadership and Squirrelstar becomes leader of Thunderclan.
-----------
A few notes to make:
Bluefur is now Blueflame
Tigerheart is now Goldenheart (I hated that he was named Tiger to begin with)
Squirrelstar becomes leader several books earlier
The prequels have been shuffled around a little bit in order to better match the cats ages in TPB
Leader deaths have been moved around a lot on the timeline. Some leaders live wayyyyyy too long
I added a large time period between Cloudstar's Journey and Mapleshade's Vengeance. The clans need time to forget that Skyclan existed.
Please let me know if I have made any glaring mistakes in terms of seasons -- I haven't re-read any books recently other than The Prophecies Begin, which I read a few weeks ago. I am mostly relying on my memory of the books, knowledge gained from tumblr, and the wiki.
I likely won't do a ton of work on anything past OotS, since that is the last arc I fully read when I was reading the books as a teenager.
A timeline for DotC through to The Skyfall will be posted eventually

you know what could be an interesting warriors au?
everything is the same until the battle in the darkest hour. scourge defies starclan's prophecy and takes all of firestar's lives, but lionclan still wins with all 4 clans on one side. whitestorm becomes leader, barely hanging onto life after the fight with bone. he's not well but thunderclan doesn't have anyone else to step up as leader.
i can't remember if greystripe officially comes back to thunderclan by that point, but with his best friend dead, he chooses to go with riverclan to be with his kits.
i thought of this au simply to spite the erins for that whitestorm wasn't even that old (he's considered a senior at 6 years old while his cousin mistystar lives to 15? like, okay.). also because he deserves it. his family is gone and cursed so he puts it right. perhaps his three children get more important roles as well.

augur au: cinderheart dealing with the fallout that came from her relationship with jaypaw
This is a very interesting prompt considering the plot of to Aaron and his sons because a very important point is that whatever consequences ultimately befall Cinderheart it's got to be kept as under wraps as possible. She can't have too public a punishment, and it must under no circumstances leave ThunderClan. The whole of ThunderClan's foreign policy depends on it.
And yet I do like the idea that Cinderheart is forever tainted by this scandal. Gaining a reputation as a cheater and a seductress and a rule breaker. I don't think she'd ever be able to carry a litter without some nasty rumors.
Rather than try to figure out now what the punishment on the part of Firestar and Sandstorm would be I elected to use this prompt to write about the emotional fallout. Take this as a potential intro scene for a Hollyleaf-centric entry I may eventually write.
(Want your own ~500 word ficlet from me? Take a look at my guidelines and submit a prompt! I'll be doing them all November long.)
Cinderheart’s absence from her nest had bothered Hollyleaf a lot more than she wanted to admit. It was a little pathetic, really. Only just the night before they’d shared their vigil and they had a whole life to sleep near each other in the warriors’ den ahead of them. But nevertheless it stung. She was second to a puerile fantasy, to a shameful demonstration she’d be above had she been in that position.
Cinderheart had chosen to sleep in while she still could instead of awakening for her assigned dawn patrol, and in thinking up that metaphor Hollyleaf hated how self explanatory the why was.
Swallowing an exhale Hollyleaf resolved to take a walk under the moonlight to clear her thoughts, picking perhaps the worst --best?-- moment she could. She caught the silvery glint that danced on Crowfeather’s fur as he crossed the bramble barrier and right behind a sulking Jaypaw dragging his feet.
“Oh dear StarClan,” Hollyleaf cursed under her breath. With Cinderheart nowhere to be seen, now she couldn’t just stick to her original intention. No matter how slim the chance she had to hold on to hope that the absolute worst hadn’t come to pass.
It wasn’t long until Cinderheart would come, her tail lasing behind her and her steps heavy as she shoved her way through the barrier.
“Hey, Cinderheart, are you--”
“Leave me alone!” she spat, pointedly slapping across Hollyleaf’s face with her tail.
Hollyleaf let her bound over towards her nest before she followed in, finding her screaming with frustration with only the moss to muffle herself. “Hey, I know it must be hard, but--”
“What do you even know?!” she screeched. “And why do you even want me to tell? It’s only going to be a stain in you brats’ oh so precious lineage.”
“Watch that mouth you--” Hollyleaf managed to catch herself before she could mouth it. Though rightful fury burned inside her she just knew Cinderheart wasn’t the kind of uncouth brute that would deserve that treatment. “I just...” she said, turning to a softer voice. “I don’t know how much of what I suspect is true, but it was my brother being his usual self wasn’t it?”
Cinderheart sank her claws further into her nest. “Quit trying. You’re not gonna get anything that Crowfeather won’t already be reporting to the leader and the Matriarch.”
“Cinderheart,” Hollyleaf said with a sigh. “If you don’t want to tell me you don’t need to but... I want to know what even made you so upset.”
“I just feel so used,” Cinderheart got out almost choking on the words. “I knew it wasn’t going to be forever. I knew Jaypaw and I were playing at being mates more than anything. But I thought he at least did love me. Why? Why?! He’s leaving for RiverClan tomorrow, he didn’t even really have a punishment to avoid.”
Never once before had Hollyleaf tasted such bitterness in being vindicated. She’d have to yell at her brother at some other time but for now her task was to comfort her friend. “What did he do?” Hollyleaf pressed.
“The moment Crowfeather saw us he put all the blame on me,” Cinderheart said. “And he had the utter audacity to try and claim that I being a warrior and him and apprentice made me the one who should’ve known better. As if he hadn’t been knowing since three moons old who his mate was going to be.”
“Oh Cinderheart that’s...” A part of Hollyleaf wanted to tell her exactly why she should’ve seen that coming from that brat. But it was a moment for comfort, so she settled besides Cinderheart and wrapped her tail around her. With rhytmic thoughts she began to lick at her cheek. “I’m really sorry my brother did this to you. It must have made you very happy for you to take that risk.”
“He made me feel so special,” Cinderheart said. “I wanted to believe that when push came to shove he would accept the risk that came with it.”
Your first mistake was thinking that Jaypaw had the least amount of honor, she thought but bit her tongue.
“I hope I’ll make you feel that special myself one day...” Hollyleaf murmured, almost inaudibly.

so I came up with an idea, just a silly little warrior cats au, what if their names were actually accurate?
(beware of AU lore dump!!!!!)
So as a kitten, their names are like,,,, whatever, it doesn’t really matter, then as apprentices they walk with their first prefix. For example Frostpaw would create frost with her every step. Or Firepaw would like…….
oh my god he would set the forest on fire
then when they get their second prefix, they fulfill their name! For example, Fireheart would have his fur around his heart ablaze. Also Bramblestar named Flamepaw Nightheart because his name sort of turned into a curse.
(wait does firestar get Magic Fire??? That doesn’t kill him?? •_•) if they become leader, it’s normal except they, idk, get a star on their pelt???
exclusive star cutiemarks for leaders???
Although these gifts can turn into curses.
Brightpaw was renamed Lostface after the dog incident. Her face becomes swathed in shadow, only too bright bulbs shining from the void. Once Firestar renames her as Brightheart, the curse goes away and.. her heart literally glows?!?!!?!!???
if you get sent to starclan, you can choose to remove the gift if you dislike it. In the Dark Forest, your gift turns into a curse whether you like it or not.
Tigerclaw/star would have huge claws that are easy to fumble on, that probably can’t actually hurt anyone. Mapleshade would have to be covered in darkness all the time, and also I thought it would be funny if she shedded like a tree?? Like she becomes hairless in winter??? 😭 (the others use her as a calendar) Ashfur would just have fur filled with ash that gets all up in his eyes and everywhere (though he never actually got sent to DF). Darktail’s tail would be an… anti-night light? and curlfeather would have tight feathers wrapped around her neck and limbs that are painful to move in. It is also possible to curse a living cat, just like what Brightheart faced. If a leader agrees with the power of StarClan on their side or multiple leaders agree, the name turns into a curse. I dunno, this is just a random idea.
poor greystripe, he gets nothin 😭

I was thinking a bit more about PoT’s major plothole of no one realizing Leafpool was pregnant and Squirrelflight wasn’t, and while it could be possible that the two left before the pregnancy could have gotten to a point where it was obvious, this raises the question of what kind of excuse they would be able to make to leave for more than a moon without raising any suspicions, particularly in regards to how I would handle it if I ever write out my PoT AU. But what if instead of Firestar and Sandstorm, it was Leafpool and Squirrelflight who made the journey to bring back SkyClan, and the kits were born during that journey? Either Squirrelflight would be the one chosen by Cloudstar due to her kittypet ancestry and experience with journeys, and Leafpool tags along because it makes a perfect excuse to hide her kits, or Cloudstar knows all about Leafpool’s situation and is a full accomplice in trying to hide it. In the latter case while StarClan proper fears the three, wants to try to control them, and themselves might believe the suspicion that medicine cats’ children are cursed monsters, SkyClan’s ancestors are fully supportive of the three. They care nothing for the superstitions and judgment that led to their banishment and wanting to protect innocent kits from such things regardless of what powers they are supposed to have. And the “there will be three” prophecy being given by Skywatcher would not be as much of an out-of-left-field “we have to fit a reference to the next arc in this book that takes place chronologically way earlier” moment.
If Sol still is involved with SkyClan in his backstory (I particularly like how TennelleFlowers’ AU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0G_40Q4A_o handled this with Sol being a SkyClan medicine cat who believed he could guide his own Clan better than their ancestors did, though here it would be Jayfeather he convinced to help him separate StarClan from the Clans rather than Hollyleaf), this could add an extra layer to his interactions with the three where he knows just what the deal with the three’s parentage is before the three themselves do, because it’s common knowledge in SkyClan. In fact it would make the whole part of Sunrise where he is offering them information about their biological father as a bargaining chip make more sense, since the obvious conclusion once they find out they aren’t Squirrelflight’s is that their parents were SkyClan cats or living in the SkyClan area. Sol could even pretend to be their father himself!
The Three beginning their life among a rebuilt SkyClan, and growing up hearing stories of what their mother and aunt accomplished, would also strongly affect their perceptions of Clan politics and the world around them. Particularly with Hollyleaf and how in my AU she uses her power to enforce the code and “clannify” outside groups - this is natural for her when the cats she most looked up to were on a StarClan-chosen (or not exactly StarClan, but she might not know that) mission to “better” the lives of outsiders by making them into a Clan. To her, spreading Clan culture is ingrained from childhood as the ultimate expression of devotion to StarClan, so it is what she turns to when she feels she is cursed and abandoned by them and she desperately needs to show that devotion.

Wake up babe. New angsty AU idea just dropped.
Okay so Warrior Cat au that while being a leader can be a blessing, it can also be a curse. I know I won't be able put this into words good enough, so let me just use an example.
Firestar's first life was given to him by Lionheart, the life of courage. And Firestar lost his first life to Scourge. So what if when Firestar was killed by Scourge, he comes back, but is much more afraid and tries to retreat? Firestar is now a coward, he lost the life of courage.
Could you imagine how devastating it would be for everyone close to the leader to witness this, and for the leader. Who knows this isn't supposed to be them. But no matter how hard they try to be like their old selves they just can't. Either they use to be very kind hearted but now they're just cold and malicious. Or an energetic leader who's now really lazy?

So way back in the day on the original Warriors website, there was an area where you could submit questions about the series that the Erin's would answer and then post the question and answers on a FAQ page. Someone asked about prefixes that the Clans don't use because they're considered sacred, and the answer had been iterations of Moon-, Star-, or the Clan names themselves, so Sky-, Shadow-, etc.
Obviously this isn't true for canon anymore, if it ever actually was (citing here: lack of continuity between the Erins) but I'm curious to know if your AU has any prefixes that the Clan's absolutely refuse to use for one reason or another? Whether they be sacred or maybe they're considered "cursed", like perhaps a particularly evil cat has tarnished the prefix forever. (Such as the lack of Maple- prefixes in canon books post-Mapleshade! Maybe not intentional, but a cool world-building detail nonetheless!)
Stemming from that, do you think any prefixes would/could be turned into insults/curses later on down the line? Basically, what's the culture like for names? My favorite part of Warriors has always been the names, and the Erin's had such a nice thing going until it was tossed out the window. The system you use with Clanmew and all is super neat and I'd love to know more about Clan naming traditions! Also how each leader names cats - idk if it was you or someone else that I follow, but I saw a post talking about how each leader has a distinct way to name their warriors.
(Also small fun fact while on the subject of names, a friend of mine submitted a question asking about who Bluestar's parents were, and the answer was Duskflower and Stormtail. This was a few years before Bluestar's Prophecy was published, so she was very upset over them changing "Duskflower" to "Moonflower" when it did finally come out!)
The Duskflower thing is actually a misconception: What happened was that in a field guide, the Erins wrote that the name was "Moonflower," and then felt that "moon" should be sacred. That's when they started using "Duskflower," until Bluestar's Prophecy came out and they agreed with the editors that the older information should take precedence
(Rare anti-retcon win)
But anyway I have no banned or sacred names! I don't like that concept! Possibly because I am from an old fandom era of 'traditional namers' that just used it as an excuse to bully people and have bad taste. Hawkfrost's name ROCKS MY SOCKS and they all died mad while I'm still here.
My rules with namings is that EVERYTHING must make sense in-universe. So I don't like lyrical naming very much... names like "Friendlyface" or "Empyreanmist" are funny, but I don't see how a kitten would end up with those names unless every cat in their Clan stopped taking their lives seriously
(Or are in WarriorClan. BB!WarriorClan renamings are going to look WILD)
That also means ecologically invalid names get cut or end up being translation quirks. Names like Cypress, Olive, Myrtle, etc.
I don't ban "insult" names either, but I do rule that they are typically ShadowClan. They have a very dark sense of humor.
And yes I am the one with leader naming styles! So far these are the styles:
Bramblestar: terrible. Doesn't consider names beforehand, often comes up with titles that are awkward or unimpressive
Harestar: Reverant and thoughtful, tries to name based on friendships, interests, and quirks.
Mistystar: Names litters according to 'themes,' often sharing suffixes or picking similar ones.
Brokenstar: Only ever gives "cool" names with deadly and strong connotations.
Firestar: Names awkwardly, but genuinely. Surprises his Clan constantly with banger names (Lionblaze) or shockingly uncomfortable ones (Brambleclaw).
Onestar: Names practically, trying to limit suffix repeats and tonguetwisters.
So on.
