Another thing I loved about the special is how it centered one of the big themes of this era, literally making it the final message of the era - that the Doctor is not some super special hero, better than anyone else and untouchable and trying to be like them a foolish act that can only lead to death, but rather that anyone can make those hard choices, anyone can be the hero. That despite what others may try to pin on them or mistakenly believe, the only thing that makes the Doctor special is their love and their hope, the way they inspire the people around them and the relationships they build.

ok, don’t get me wrong seeing the master in the thirteen’s clothes was great. seriously great, and worked better with the storyline probably. BUT can you imagine is we’d actually got whittaker!master. like it was thirteen’s appearance but the master. and how much fun he could have had flirting with yaz- which on that note i wanted to see him flirt with both of them more but anyways- can you imagine yaz trying to comprehend that. ik it doesn’t fit but just imagine

Okay, I have a lot of Thoughts on this episode but those aside, I adore the implication that either the Master heard the song Rasputin by Boney M and thought “man I’d love to be that guy” and then went ahead and did it OR the Master was Rasputin and many years later Boney M wrote a song about how he was “Russia’s greatest love machine” which he loved so much he took the trouble to install a sound system in the Russian palace so that he could listen/dance to it
