EEEEE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS.

Let me propose to you this: not only is Daighre not intimidated at all, but rather, during the days she and Fíadh romped about the earth bucking horns in the metaphorical and, at times, literal sense (Fíadh has attempted to ram her goat horns into Daighre at least once, this is a canon no one can sway me on) there was a higher sense of almost levity to their friendship.

I hope I'm describing this in a way that makes sense, but the antics and mutual annoyances were never enough to make either truly regret that odd friendship and respect they had forged. You know how in Pokemon you kick a Pokemon's ass to befriend them? LITERALLY THEM. Constant trickery, constant at odds in playful spats that formed folklore around them! They made each other want to pull their hair out at times, but they genuinely enjoyed each other's company during those times they weren't at each other's throats! A 'you'll miss me when I'm gone!' sort of self-aware, mutually annoying affair.

And damn if Daighre wasn't correct. When she stopped visiting, the last traces of her memory and magic faded from the world around her, Fiadh missed her far more than she'd ever admitted. Yet her mourning came, not in sadness, but rather irritation. It was hard to explain, but she didn't grieve her old friend looking at the days and longing to see her return but more in the sense of anger; things would be so much better and more fun if she had chosen immortality, if she had chosen to bear her pain like Fíadh had chosen to, if she had stayed or even come to visit, just once more, she had learned so much since she had last seen her, so many new jests and japes, new games, tricks and ways to cause her headaches. It was a source of bitterness for so long, which left her cursing her former friend's name.

AND THEN MARIANNE CAME AROUND; my sweetest gal came in and nearly got stomped to death by Fíadh in true Fíadh form until Fíadh had to stop. She felt it again. That fleeting spark of magic, her old friend, in the flesh, but it wasn't her. She was someone new, but that didn't stop that familiar warmness from returning in amusement, almost ready to double over and laugh like 'SO THIS IS WHERE YOU'VE BEEN?! You gotta be kidding me! Hahaha '

In her new form, Fíadh can't help but feel most of her feelings towards her old friend change, just the slightest bit. Her new form is so much different than it used to be, and Marianne, well, she doesn't exactly strike her as nearly as frightening as her predecessor, even though their magics are comparable!

Last night, we were lying in bed and Max was like wait what are all the items in 12 Days of Christmas? So I started naming them from partridge in a pear tree forward and he was like no, you have to list them backward that's how the song goes. And I was like no, it doesn't? You go backward in the chorus but you add them sequentially smallest to largest! And he kept arguing about that and finally I was yelling ARE YOU GOING TO LET ME LIST ALL THE THINGS THAT GO IN THE TREE OR NOT? And then we both stopped yelling for a second and looked at each other and were like wait, no, they aren't all in the same pear tree that's not how that works, and dissolved into hysterical laughter. I just want to note that depending on punctuation and emphasis they could be, though.
