#the world is fucked

Matthew Mercer's video/announcement is exactly why the practice of fans demanding statements from "celebrities" is so problematic.
If people CAN make a statement and speak out and feel like they are in a place to do so, they should. And if people make statements on the wrong side of things they SHOULD be held accountable and called out for their bullshit.
But you never know what someone is going through, you never know what someone is struggling with and capable of emotionally, and you never know what people are doing privately. Just because it's not being screamed from the rooftops, doesn't mean it's not being done.
Personally, I have stayed largely quiet on social media regarding the Genocide occurring in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis occurring at the hands of Israel because I spend my days providing therapy to those who, like Matt, are just stuck and depressed with everything that's happening in the world and just don't have it in them to fight yet another thing that's happening, and like them, by the time I get home, I need to separate myself from that.
That doesn't mean that I haven't done what I can, that I haven't donated and called my representatives and signed petitions, it just means that what one person has the capacity to do, someone else might not have the capacity to do.

In the Hunger Games, poorer people/districts are at a disadvantage in life. They are more likely to starve and more likely to die.
In The Divergent Trilogy, there is one group of people that seeks out to destroy another. Erudite, the smart, seek to systematically eradicate Abnegation, the selfless.
In Scythe, there are people who are allowed to decide if you live or die. Scythes use their own discretion on who to kill.
Do you know what these three books have in common?
They are works of dystopian literature.
Do recognize something? Can you connect something in these books to our modern world?
Yes, yes you can.
Economically disadvantaged people are less likely to find jobs and maintain a way of life. There are bills trying to be being passed in America to make it harder for people to rise out of impoverished backgrounds. (Hunger Games)
Racism is a large part of American history dating all the way back to the days of Colonialism. It can be seen today, 500+ years in the future as seen with recent rises in non-white aggression. (Divergent Trilogy)
The American healthcare system is shit. It’s impractical to actually go to a hospital without being in severe financial debt for the rest of your life. (Scythe)
We are living in a dystopian world. These examples are just in America. Open your eyes.

Ya know... I am not the strongest Army out here. I try, I really do. But today is hard.
I am seeing a particular Army in Ukraine who is scared beyond scared for her own life because bombs are falling nearby and I am scared shitless for her.
I am disappointed in Crush. It saddens me that there are Army who have to deal with this bullshit every day of their lives.
I keep seeing #BigAnnouncementSoon trending and it’s time but also I don’t want to hear the big announcement if it’s what I think it is. Do you get me?
Thankfully, a little lightness tomorrow: Run BTS.
I hope we get a surprise appearance by Mr. Tailor of Chaos before Jimin’s birthday.
Stay safe and sane, people. Hang in there. I love you all.

My roman empire is people liking The Hunger Games and loving Katniss Everdeen and understanding her rage, to not understand what is happening in Israel and Palestine. Like media literacy is dead.

I hoped my mom was right when I told her about the twitterpocalypse and she said that Elon’s management of Twitter would improve, but noooooo. He deletes k*nye’s nazi tweet but only suspends his account after it makes the bird site boss look bad. So apparently ‘free speech’ - even if it involves allying with fucking hitler and preaching mass murder - doesn’t get you suspended but hurting his poor little feelings does.
*slow claps* what is the world coming to

i just binge watched a bunch of your youtube videos & i wanted to say that i really really REALLY like your channel + your personality. also you are so underrated, man. CRIMINALLY underrated even.... now if you excuse me i'm gonna listen to your music (i'm totally doing my job as a 'fan')
I hope you enjoy the music and the stories told my friend.
Onwards and upwards, tell your friends, We are Legion, and we are just getting started. The creatives are taking the power back. The expression is all that remains. The world burns as chaos reigns. I do not take medication.

Thank god for fucking tumblr, the only social media site where I can decide who I want to follow and what I want to see instead of being subjected to the opinions of the worst people on Earth against my will.
