The main food that I made for the elderly elf man 'party'. which was a Deconstructed Beef Wellington (kind of as ajoke since I watch s #o many silly cooking competition shows and they always make stuff 'deconstructed' at the last minute when under time limits or whatever.) #I've wanted to make beef wellington a few times but Ithink to do it well I'd need like..an actual kitchen and a lot of time and #an oven that fully works to bake things and etc. etc. So I thought this would be an easier method. A thick steak cut round to kind of mimi #c the round tenderloin or whatever it is in a wellington. instead of the puff pastry being wrapped around - I just did star shaped cut outs #of pastry and baked them and put them on top (to go with the star theme). instead of mushroom duxelles being wrapped around in pastry #its in a little circle under the steak. and instead of mustard being brushed onto the meat I made a mustard gravy sauce type of thing #Then of course asparagus on the side.. my favorite... Though I know some wellington #also has a layer of prosciutto I think. or I saw one person use crepes. I didn't feel it was necessary to incorporate that too lol #8. bapy son helping me do a giant puzzle that took me hours and I had no idea it was actually that large of a puzzle #until I started putting it together and for some reason it made me stressed by the end instead of relaxed lol.. puzzle fatigue #photo diary

what sticks with me about chainsaw man is not the fights but the really sharp character moments. denji, power, and aki becoming really genuinely domestic and caring for each other after the darkness devil, everything with aki and the “snowball fight”, the entire makima apartment sequence, the power dumpster scene paralleling chapter 1, kobeni and denji having a genuine conversation, “i made a bet that she was never really looking at me”, “did you know? it was my dream to be hugged by someone”, “thats why, make sure to give her plenty of hugs too” all of that stuff was great. It got me, its just that it increasingly clashed with the weird incomprehensible battle stuff as it went on. 

#i keep getting stuck on small stuff like why did makima have the zombie devil #she had nothing to do with that. she never met him. hell she never even saw him except for a pile of minced meat. #why were reze and quanxi back for 5 seconds along with those other guys and talking but then in the final battle they're just dolls #how do makima's powers work? how does she gain access to even people who are dead? #if all she needed to do was beat denji in a fight to gain control over the chainsaw devil why bother with the entire plot #just beat denji in a fight in chapter 2 #you cant even say 'it has to be the chainsaw devil not denji' bc she beats up what she thinks is denji in the final battle #if makima is so powerful and controls so much of the world why did the other countries feel free to send so many assassins after denji #who was reze? why was she referred to as the gun devil's 'partner'? who was the gun devil were they a person like her or what #also hey if makima has to beat people in a fight to control them why could she just walk up to angel and instantly control him #lots and lots of small stuff like that that adds up #chainsaw man #chainsaw man spoilers #csm spoilers

It's really strange to me how some people only criticize plastic through the lens of it being "vegan plastic", as if non-vegans aren't also using plastic products, including fake leather. The same with slave labor and crops. Like I've literally seen someone say how harmful vegan vegetables are in agriculture and I'm just like, do you only eat meat??? Do you not eat vegetables??? I just don't understand the whole "if you're vegan and not using animal products then you love slave labor and plastic". Consuming animal products doesn't automatically mean you're not using plastic or buying anything that was produced from slave labor in the same way that being vegan doesn't mean animals aren't getting killed somewhere along in the process of you getting food on your plate. Also, using animal products doesn't automatically mean good for the environment, cuz usually somewhere along the way there's some type of harmful process being used.

I think maybe people don't realize just how ingrained plastic is. It's not some evil vegan villain wearing head-to-toe pleather that is upholding the plastic industry. Take a look around the room and identify everything you see that is plastic. Then think about all the plastic you don't see. And is it really only vegans buying from shein, temu, forever 21, etc? For some people, that's all they can afford, but for so many other people that isn't the case. Is it really so hard to acknowledge that it's literally an exploitative, capitalistic world that has done all of this and NOT vegans? Is it so hard to acknowledge that we all take part in these harmful practices in some way because they've been so interwoven into our society that there's no way to avoid it? What is so difficult to understand about any of that? At this point, I'm half-convinced some billionaires got together and brainstormed on "Who can we blame" and then collectively decided on vegans, and unfortunately some people actually took the bait.

Also, these arguments constantly erase poor people unless it's framed in the context of the vegan diet not being affordable to everyone. Organic, sustainable, fair-trade etc etc products are not cheap. It's not only vegan products that can be non-affordable.

This whole moral superiority (and also flat-out cruelty to each other) can be on BOTH sides and it's really frustrating that the one side won't admit it. Eating meat doesn't automatically make you a saint and non-complicit in harmful practices in the same way being a vegan doesn't either.

It's just...people. People are the worst. The only way to save the planet is for us to literally go extinct.

#ive been teaching myself how to Really cook and not just follow a recipe which is why im so excited! #like i could cook before but now ive been learning the principles and techniques and my favorite lesson is about acids in your dish #and all the flavor types and combos etc #like we need salf fat acid heat and acid was missing from my stuff before! #and i said by the third time someone liked my food enough to ask for a recipe I'd have Made it in my mind #and idk im proud my cooking skills have improved 😊 #ive always liked to cook but it's hard with my chronic illness...dont get to often nor practice bc it takes so much energy #which is another reason im excited about this! #me and my dad have now joined forces to teach each other stuff the other doesn't know #we'll send each other pics of our latest creations-he's going to teach me the best of barbecue and smoking and frying #he's from the south so #and i literally dont have the tools or capacity to fry but he's going to teach me anyways (he does it in his grill now which is neat) #did you know there's seasoning rules and combos for the type of meat or oil or flavor set? it's so neat and really does work #the biggest one im learning about is umami #ppl asked for my pesto pasta recipe gyudon and now chicken and rice soup 😊 #my barbecue has greatly improved but havent shared with anyone yet (and yeah yeah i know im from the north aint Real barbecue) #oh also got asked for a couple desserts too like my peach cobbler and blueberry crisp 😁 #before this learning curve my brownies were always a big hit but not counting it #very exciting #p
